Tyler Perry & OWN Settle Over Claims He Stole Idea For Hit Show
SMH! So Tyler Perry was accused of stealing the storyline for his hit show The Haves And The Have Nots on OWN. Well, the lawsuit has been settled. Check out the deets from Madame Noire:
Tyler Perry and Oprah may have another victory on their hands! According to theJasmineBrand.com, the two mega superstars have finally settled a nasty legal battle. The battle involved Vanessa Lynn and Parables Entertainment. Lynn claimed she wrote the screenplay “Affairs” a number of years ago, which was eventually recreated and developed as “The Have and The Have Nots” for OWN. The drama Lynn created revolved around a small town family, a father
running for mayor, a health challenged mother and a daughter named Peaches. Sound similar right? Also another similar storyline was the storyline that included a friend of Peaches having an affair with her father. (Side eye we know)“Affairs” was turned into a play and eventually released on DVD by Parables Entertainment. Lynn claims Tyler Perry stole the idea
of “Affairs” to create the show “The Have and The Have Nots”.The lawsuit requested an injunction to prevent the show from airing and also a fair share of the profits
made by the two giants. Lynn also wanted to be listed in the credits. However, on September 17th, Parables Entertainment
dismissed the entire lawsuit against Perry and OWN. From this dismissal alone we can only assume, Lynn and Parables Entertainment were awarded a hefty fee. The group also dismissed with case with prejudice. Therefore, they cannot file another lawsuit against the same claims.Someone was clearly paid very nicely. Lil' Boosie's Wife Spills The Tea About Him Leaving Her For Deion Sanders' Daughter
My friends over at Baller Alert just posted a snippet of When The Music Stops. It's a "factual fiction" novel by Walnita Decuir. With so many D-list celebs releasing pointless books I was about to scroll on by this info until my nosy butt saw that she spilled some interesting tea.
Now, I never new that Boosie was dating Deiondra Sanders, daughter of NFL legend Deion Sanders. What she sees in him I have NO idea. But hey, they're together and Walnita gives her take on being played for Deiondra.
From Baller Alert:
The characters have made-up names but you don't have to be a detective to piece two and two together. The news of him dating Deiondra isn't exactly "new", Deiondra has been hinting at it for a while, but it's definitely interesting to hear Walnita's side of things. Apparently art imitates life because Boosie allegedly left Walnita when she smuggled drugs into jail for him, he got caught, and she made a statement that ended up landing him 18 more months. Next thing you know he's with Deion Sanders' daughter. Read the excerpt below and sip this cup of hood tea.

Rahiem Brooks Stays Close To Fans From Behind Bars
On September 14th Rahiem "The Authortainer" Brooks made a shocking announcement via Facebook:
After five years of sharing my world with you through books, photos, and my dedication to indie/major publishing I am compelled to share a down moment with you. On Friday, September 5, 2014, the Secret Service arrested me at the Philadelphia Airport headed on a nine day trip to New Orleans, Dallas, and Houston to begin promotion for PrettyboyThugs set to release on the 9th. I was handcuffed at the gate and escorted through the airport to the Philadelphia PD office and later to the Secret Service office downtown and then housed at a federal detention center. On the advice of my attonery, I'm not at liberty to discuss any facts of my case, but I can share what's in the indictment, which is an accusation of violating seven counts of access device fraud and two counts aiding and abetting for crimes in 2011.
He went on to ask for people to send their email addresses so that he could send a request to correspond with them because he needs all the support he can get to make it through such a difficult time. As of September 25th he's still inside and doing well. He says he's not sure exactly what he's being charged with but for now he's praying and being patient.
I've never read any of his books but I admire his hustle and the way he's building his company, Prodigy Publishing Group. He went from prison to being a Harvard student but the past has come back and bitten him in the ass.
His latest novel, Pretty Boy Thugs, is on sale now and, according to him, selling well. Pick up your copy and support.

#TBT: Wonder Bitch Has Left The Building
In honor of Throwback Thursday here is an old post from May 2012 that still rings true today. This is a repost from Tionna Smalls' blog about being in a relationship with a broken man. After reading this I realize that my last relationship was with a broken man. I thought I could be Wonder Bitch and save the day making him fall in love with me the way I was with him but I was wrong. Thanks, Tionna, for showing me the way.
Dear Diary,
I know I have been gone for a minute but I was writing my first ever screen play. Yes, you read it right; I am writing and directing a movie in Brooklyn. Yep!
Anywho, I am back and today I would like to talk about broken men. Now what is a broken man? Well that’s a good question. A broken man is man who is emotionally unable to love and/or accept love into his life. He is a man who should have received a SSI check when he was younger because he just don’t have it all upstairs. A broken man is a self-sabotager who make sure he messes things up with any woman who shows him love especially if he feels himself falling too.
You can’t blame a man for being broken. Most of the times, you have to blame their sociological factors such as their nature and their nurture. Many broken men become that way from what they had to go through in their environment but MOST of them learn their shitty ways from the people that they were around most which is their mother.
Many women fall in love with broken men hoping that they can save them and show them a little love but they are truly mistaken. You can’t undo 25 years of fuckery!!! Nothing can help this man but prayer. A broken man must know and respect the fact that he is emotionally broken and that he may need help to overcome what has happened in his past.
Have you ever dealt with a man and no matter what you tried to do, he never seemed to show you the same love and respect back. Well, you may have dealt with a broken man. See, these broken men want to love and want to show love but they just don’t know how. No one has shown them how to properly care and feel empathy for someone else; all they know how to do is be messed up and care for themselves. Well at least they think they care for themselves. A broken man is very miserable and insecure and does not have a clue on how they can change their lives; so why are you trying to be Wonder Bitch, thinking you can change his life?????
No matter how much you may love someone, sometimes shit just doesn’t work out. Love is not enough; you have to leave a dude to keep a dude. Staying in a bad situation with a broken man is not going to help the situation, it is going to hurt the situation…Leave him and let him realize on his own that he need to get his shit together.

Is Urban Lit Giving Wahida Clark A Pass?
NYT Bestselling Author Wahida ClarkDisclaimer: This post is a mixture of fact, opinion, and hearsay. It is protected under the first amendment and cannot guarantee 100% accuracy.
Wahida Clark is considered a legend in the Urban Lit genre. She is author of the popular Thug Series (Thugs And The Women Who Love Them) and she is currently signed to Cash Money Content. She's given independent writers the chance to be heard under her very own imprint and she is giving another unique opportunity for authors to get their name out there.
For about two weeks I have been seeing a link being shared around Facebook about being a partner with Wahida. (LINK) If you combine this website with some juicy gossip I heard about her business practices you get one fishy ass proposition. With so many companies scamming authors with bad ebook deals I'm surprised nobody has spoken up about this.
According to other well respected veteran authors there are a few rules that you should follow if you want to get in the game of publishing and she is breaking two of the biggest ones. Is Wahida getting a pass from the Urban Lit community? Maybe so. Here's my two cents...
Rule #1: NEVER pay to be published - Here is the business model: For $0.99 you can buy an 11-page ebook explaining the details of this "partnership". Then if you're interested and want to apply there is a $99 fee. This solidifies your appointment to speak with Wahida and her team. If you guys decide not to work together then you get your money back. If you do then she keeps the fee. This is CLEARLY paying to be published, which is a no no. Rule #2: Don't trust publishers that sale to you - When I look at the landing page I see one of those cheesy sales pages that try to sale you everything from online "get rich" coaching tools to male enhancement pills. The site is sure to highlight the possibility of becoming the next breakthrough author to hit the NYT Bestseller's list and sale 250k units in a year. There are also sponsored ads for this on Facebook. Seems like she's trying really hard to sell this dream to folks. Another no no...Rumor has it she has printed bootleg books - A friend of mine and fellow author, who shall remain nameless, was approached by Wahida Clark about signing a deal. She was flown out to meet with Wahida and was excited to put her signature on the dotted line. That is until a VERY CREDIBLE source close to Wahida sent pictures proving that she had a system set up to copy books and sell the bootleg copies for personal gain. Now, Ms. Clark could be offering this deal with the best of intentions but I wouldn't take it.
What say you?
