No Letting Go

Musiq Soulchild sums up this picture for me. He sings: "I'm not the blame for the pain that was cause by previous cats who had your heart before me..."

Or if you're an Erykah Badu fan insert lyrics to Bag Lady.

Why is it so hard for us to let go of what past assholes did to us, ladies? Should the next man have to pay for what the ex man did? I say no but sometimes we just can't help it.

It's a vicious cycle. Not to put all blame on the guys but they tend to put us women through the same type of heartache over and over again by CHEATING! Yes, the fellas have a problem with being faithful. Many of us ladies have been cheated on more than once for no apparent reason. The general belief is that all men cheat. I don't believe that but there is some truth to it. Most do...Our pain defines us. One thing that makes a strong black woman strong is all the hurt and pain that she's been through. She comes out of it unscathed and so does her children. If we take away that struggle, what makes the black woman strong? This insecurity is one that doubles as a badge of honor that we don't want taken away. We're scared to death! Honesty, who wants to be shitted on by a man that they love? Nobody! When your heart has been played with you get overprotective of it. You vow that you will never let a man play you ever again. You want to make sure that you are safe from harm. Because let's face it. break ups are very hard. That pain is something that nobody wants to experience on a regular basis. Why do we make good men suffer? What can we do to change this? Listen to Previous Cats by Musiq below and think about it. Then leave your thoughts in the comments.
