A to Z Challenge: P
P is for POD [image error] sOkay, this is the last post that I’ll use as a commercial for my work. Today is "P" day. My debut YA novel is title PODs. A perfect "P" word if you ask me. :)
PODs will be published by Spencer Hill Press June 4th, 2013 – my son's birthday. Hopefully that brings me good luck.
Here's the jacket blurb:
Seventeen-year-old Eva is a chosen one. Chosen to live, while others meet a swift and painful death from an incurable virus so lethal, a person is dead within days of symptom...
Interview: Author Karina Fabian
[image error] I’m honored to have Karina Fabian as my guest today. Winner of the 2010 INDIE for best Fantasy (Magic, Mensa and Mayhem) and a Mensa Owl for best fiction (World Gathering), Karina Fabian’s writing takes quirky twists that keep her--and her fans--amused. Nuns working in space, a down-and-out Faerie dragon working off a geas from St. George, zombie exterminators—there’s always a surprise in Fabian’s worlds. Mrs. Fabian teaches writing and book marketing seminars online.
Fabian is marr...

A to Z Challenge: K
K is for Keeping Fit.
No, I'm not going to write about exercise again. I'm writing about keeping our minds fit. What do we do that exercises our brains.
Yes, writing exercises our minds, but what do we do to exercise FOR writing?
Reading is one thing I do. I read a lot. Lately I've been doing book reviews for other authors. I've read a lot of really good books while reviewing…some not so great, too. But I keep reading. I read mostly YA urban fantasy and science fiction...

A to Z Challenge: J
J is for: Jumpy
How do you handle waiting on a response from your queries? I'm terrible at waiting. I know, patience is a virtue. It's one I don't have. I try to be patient. I do. But so far I haven't been. I bite my nails to the quick, check my email every five (okay, maybe ten) seconds, cuss, pace, scream at the mail lady and so on. I'm jumpy when it comes to queries. I hate them. I don't like writing them and I hate waiting on news from them.
To try to take my mind off my...

A to Z Challenge: I
I is for: Including Family.
Does your family take part in your writing process?
I try to include my family in my writing as much as possible. I think it not only makes them feel like they are helping, but also lets them see how much work and thought goes into a project.
My husband loves to help me brainstorm. He takes it so seriously that one day I mentioned I didn't have enough content to write the book I wanted. Later that day he gave me a piece of notebook paper filled on both sides...

A to Z Challenge: H
H is for: How Many?
Specifically, how many projects is too many?
I'm amazed at the rate some authors are able to knock out books. There is one author I know who has three books releasing this year alone. It makes me wonder how many projects she works on at a time. Does she write more than one book at a time – obviously something has to overlap.
Currently I'm writing one book, keeping an idea log for another and have three books in various stages of editing. I also have one book on...

Still in Concilium, my debut novel.
Set-up: Leslee finally gets some answers about who – what – is trying to kill her. Although, Miller is reluctant to give them.
"Who are the whisperers?"
"They're called the Cruor Imbibo. They feast on humans' blood and flesh," he answered without looking at me. "We don't know how long they've been crossing into our world; there's evidence of their existence throughout history, even references in Egyptian Hieroglyphics."
"Our world? Are you saying...

A to Z Challenge: G
G is for "Goodreads"
There's a lot of talk about social media and the benefits of it to authors. It's a technology driven world we live in. More and more transactions, business and personal, are done over the Internet. Recently my mother opened a bank account online. She didn't go into a branch; she didn't have any contact with a teller whatsoever. We could probably live out our lives without physical contact with another person if we wanted.
So that makes social media important.

A to Z Challenge: F
F is for "Fast Drafters."
One of the suggestions made by the coordinators of the A to Z Challenge was to keep posts short and to the point. Because I had a hard time finding something to post about for the letter "F," I'm going to follow that advice and keep this (very) short and to the point.
Are you a fast drafter? I've heard people refer to themselves as "fast drafters" and I have no idea what they mean by that. So, are you one? And if so, what makes a person a fast drafter?
