Why I Write[image error]
By Alecia Stone
"You only live once." Okay, so you've probably heard that phrase a few times, right? Well, if that is the case, then you might as well live life to the fullest. And that's why I write. I write to experience life in every way I possibly can. Every time we read a story, we step out of our world and into someone else's world, so we are, in a sense, experiencing a different reality.
When I first started to write fiction, I wrote because I had a story I wanted to...

A to Z Challenge: W
W is for WIP
My dad is still in the hospital with kidney failure so please bear with me. My posts are going to be short and simple. I'm also going to try to get to everyone's comments/blogs as soon as I can. Thanks. :)
W is for Work in progress. Some days I love mine. I think WHOA this is great. It's witty, charming, romantic, has great description, blah, blah. Other days I read and thing WHOA this Stinks worse than cow dung.
I have a love-hate re...

V is for Venting
I was cooking (yeah, a big feat for me) in the pressure cooker one day and one of my twin girls asked why it was making a hissing sound. I told her it was venting - letting some of the steam out so the lid didn't explode. She immediately left the kitchen and didn't return - smart kid.
It made me wonder - how do we vent? Think of stress as our steam. As writers we must have steam build up in our system. Rejection letters, writer's block, editin...

n-Post
Today is an U Npost day. I usually have my posts done ahead of time and timed to post automatically. However, the rest of the month I do not. That's one reason this post is going to be short and to the point.
The second reason this post is going to be a short U npost is because I just don't have the time, nor the energy, to post tonight. See, this morning I had a frantic phone call from my mother that she was unable to wake my dad. I rushed to their a...

How do you schedule your writing work week? Do you think of writing as your job? I mean, if we aspire to be full time writers one day we must look at it as a job. Maybe a job we love, but a job nonetheless. So do you treat it like one? Meaning, do you force yourself to do it even when you may not feel like it?
I read an author (can’t remember who, sorry) who said authors should write something everyday. Everyday. What do...

I went to college to study accounting. I’m good at it. I graduated Summa Cum Laude. Not because I’m particularly smart, although I’d like to think that might have played a small part, but because I’m an organizer. I like to keep things neat and tidy. My files are clean and labeled and backed up on three different flash drives (yes, really three). And organization is a large part of accounting.
But I don’t want to write about accounting. ...

A to Z Challenge: R
R is for Remembering
I was recently asked to do a guest post on “Why I Write.” Of course the first thing that came to mind was the fame and fortune I’ve received (kidding!) Seriously, it made me sit down and take a good look at some of the reasons I decided to become a writer and most of them stemmed from memories I had growing up.
Memories are powerful things. Good ones are, well, good. But bad ones can be worse than bad. Luckily for me I’ve been fortunate t...

A to Z Challenge: Q
Q is for Quite
"Q" is a hard letter to write about. My "Q" vocabulary is Quite limited. I came up with Quite, as in Quite interesting. No, I'm not talking about my blog posts. I'm sure they're not all that interesting. :)
I'm talking about Blog NAMES. I love reading the names people come up with for their blogs. I recently changed the name of my blog. I wanted something catchy like some I've seen throughout the challenge. So I came up with "These Words Tell a Story." Probably not the...
