The Relatability of Fame
Why breaking through as a writer takes more than just a fancy book cover and a well-written story
Sometimes
the best inspiration and insight comes from the most unexpected of places. The
other night I was catching up on a show I had missed for the majority of its
second season: Smash. The premise of the show is sort of “life on Broadway.”

What Do You Read-- And Write About?
Some times, there are days when you wonder: what am I reading and how does it affect my writing? After all, you are a writer, and you look to other writers as a means to improve, or build upon your writing. You want to publish a better book so that you can follow your dreams, but you have to get to know your readers, and you have to make them care about your writing.

Written in the Stars?
A lesson from the horoscopes about helping
your writing reach out to people
This
month we are talking about reaching out to your readers and the many ways you
can do this as a writer. The first main way that you can do this is to reach
out through your actual writing. We have spoken at length about establishing a
target audience, and by truly communicating with this

Look at Your Life, Look at Your Choices...
Making the "right" choices for your life as a writer
Perhaps
the most important decision you’ll have to make when you are living a life of
writing is what that really means to you. With anything that we love to do, we
reach a crossroads where the choice eventually has to be made whether or not it
will remain a hobby/minor form of income, or be our sole source of income.

Your Voice, Your Choice!
Using principles from the human voice to alter our own artistic voices and create the largest impact on our readers
This month we are
discussing making choices that complement not only you but your career as a
writer as well. One of the most important choices you will have to make
concerning both you and your career involves your artistic voice.

What is Your Best Choice? Self-Publishing or Traditional Publishing?
We've all heard this many times:you have to have an agent and an editor and a lot of time to publish your book with a traditional publisher. We've also heard the same thing (minus an agent) about self-publishing. The end result is that it is your choice in what you want to do with your book. You make the choice.
The writer in you needs to feel that what you have written has value to some one

The Choices You Make and The Writing You Do
Have you ever had one of those days? I am sure you know the ones, the type where the most you can do is get out of bed and do some sort of writing, or not. Or you choose to stay in bed and rest all day because your energy levels are so low that there is not much else you might want to do. There are days when what you write is dependent upon your mood, and this can lead to a new direction to

Actuating Success Through Balance
We have talked a
lot this month about keeping balance in your work, in your emotions, in your
life, and how all of these balances can make for a more successful career as a

Becoming a SuperWriter!
Conquering Your Emotions and Triumphing
Over Negativity
It has been said
many times that artists feel things differently. As writers, we are artists of
the written word and the worlds that live beyond the page. That imagination and
depth of insight takes a lot more out of us than we (and others around us) sometimes
realize.

When Writing is Tough...and Publishing is Something Like a Dream
There is a time when you begin to wonder if what you do is worth all the trouble. There are times when you sit and try to think about how much work you put into your writing, and then nothing. It is the feeling you get when you have very little energy and very little in the way of "looking on the bright side." I find that these days it is harder to push myself to write.
