Laying It All On The Line
What I learned about marketing myself from
McMaster Medical School
This past weekend I was privileged enough
to be invited to interview for McMaster Medical School in Hamilton, Ontario,
Canada. This has been a long journey for me but one that I have grown and
learned a lot from. With the odds being

Does Marketing and Pricing Your Book Right Equal Sales?
People have to like your nice new lovely book, and not just say that they like it, but buy it (maybe it's more you would like them to buy it). The reality is that even if your family promises you the moon, they won't do anything for you, and you will have to pull out that money before you get readers. Even if you traditionally publish it does not mean instant sales. The most common thing that

To Market, to Market... to Sell a Fat Book!
So you think you have an idea that can sell? So do
millions of people every year. So why is the proportion of successful
entrepreneurial ventures so low? One word: Laziness.
When we are hit with that genuine
and exciting new idea, there is little anyone can do to convince us it would be
anything but in demand and profitable. The reality that we
sometimes forget is that an

How To Promote Your Book, Without Losing Your Shirt!
The idea behind book promotion is that you get a reader interested enough in your book that they will go out and buy a copy of your book on whatever bookstore you sell your book with. If you have ebooks, you can point your readers to your Kindle copy on Amazon. It's a fast, and free, way of promoting your book to potential readers.

Marketing Your Book Using Winnie the Pooh as Guide
Winnie the Pooh, or Edward Bear, is a bear with very little brains, but he always has the best ideas when it comes to friendship, or cunning traps. Writers can learn a lot from this bear and his friends. I was reading Winnie the Pooh and found that some of the things he said can work well for marketing your books. He loves honey, and he finds ways to get this wonderful food.

This week when I was asking some people
about what qualities they look for in a marketing or advertising campaign, it
was no surprise that a lot of the same answers came up (and ironically seemed
to resemble the qualities of a good personal ad): wit, intellect, and style. When
we think about it, good marketing involves playing off of the most appealing

Marketing Your Book in an Ebook Market
Have you read an ebook lately? Have you even bought yourself an ebook reader, or are you a die hard print book readers who would rather break the reader into pieces than ever use it? Whatever the reason is that you do or don't read ebooks is something that is up to you, and not something that an author can control. However, the fact remains that if you are a writer you will have to consider

Publicity and Your Book, and Why You Need to Market It
Marketing your book is the same as talking about your book except that with marketing you can reach out to a greater audience. This means that if a person who is not a part of your network sees a bookmark or your website you will have more chance you sell your book.
With word of mouth, it takes creativity, time and willingness to step out of your comfort zone to promote your book. The key to

Hey You! My Book Is Published! I'm Talking To You!
The best thing to happen to a writer is to have their book published. The next best thing is to have that book sold. The only problem is that you have to make people, your potential readers care a little. They have to pull out that credit care and make that purchase or you are going nowhere in terms of being a full time writer.
Not so much fun to read that? That book has to be sold, and you
