Is a Sale Good For a Book?

I will admit when I am wrong: I was wrong. A sale is good for an older book. In fact since the price has dropped on the paperback edition for In Search of the Lost Ones, there has been a few more sales. I think this is a good thing.

And the sales are coming which is really nice.

In my case a sale is good for my book, and In many ways it means more people see it. I have my book at my local

Writing and Publishing: Some Thoughts

I write.

This si a simple statement for most people but I know that there is much more hidden in this two word sentence. I write because I want to publish.I write because I love writing. I write to make some money for my family. I write so I don't need a day job.

There is always a reason for writing. The same can be said for publishing.

I publish because I am confident people need to

Money Matters With Books: Would You Drop You Price On A Published Book?

I've had my book up on Amazon.com and other Amazon websites for a while now and sales are reasonably good. They sell about three books a week, and the price is about $15.00 US. Now, here is the money matters problem and my own solution.

My book has been around since the end of November and the price has not dropped anything since it was published. After 6 months of having the list price the

Writing a Book Is a Challenge... And So Are the Numbers

This week I did about eight things related to my writing. Not allof them as productive as I'd like them to be, but they still moved me forward.

Below is the list:

1) Continued on my first draft edits of my blogging book.

2) Planned another marketing strategy to promote In Search of the Lost Ones.

3) Outlined and started on my first draft of the second in the series of In Search of the Lost

How Would You Promote Your Book?

In the last few weeks I've done what some newer writers would think of as unthinkable- I've given away books. A lot of books. I think for me it's a great feeling, not only are they int eh hands of some readers, but many are going to do reviews.

In many ways I've come to the conclusion that promotion is also word of mouth and having several hundred books in a box is not going to help long term

What Do you Do With Your Published Work Which Might Be Stolen?

Frankly, I'm talking about money; the ammount that I stand potentially to lose. I have to admit that I was a little bit annoyed to find a "copy" of my work on Amazon.com. I was terribly unimpressed that there is another book on the site that looks very much like mine.

How did I find this out? I used sales rank express, and lo and behold, on Amazon there is another book entry for In Search

A Few Don'ts On How To Edit a Book For Publishing

Number one.... don't always think everything needs to be edited; for example if you have gone back ten times to a sentence, and you reverse two words yet again, it probably doesn't need to be edited.

Number two... don't always think that "it's good enough." There is such a thing as too much editing, but there is sometimes more importantly not enough editing.

Number three... hire a professional

In Search of the Lost Ones: Sale On May 16-19

Beginning tomorrow and going on until May 19, the Kindle Edition of In Search of The Lost Ones will be on sales for .99 cents US. The same sale will be in effect for the other Kindle edition you can purchase on the other sites.

I'm excited to see what happens. I'll let you know after May 19. This is a pretty interesting experiment, but I am willing to see how this sale goes. Publishing a

Does Money Come When You Ask? Or At Least Once You'e Published a Book?

Hey, I need money... I am asking, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I wish. I've published a book, and sales are fairly steady.

This does not mean that I have a lot of money coming my way, but rather that I wish it would arrive more steadily. After all, I am a writer.... and I'd rather not be starving (I am not now, but one day I would love to write full-time), and so this means I will be

If I Improve My Writing... Then What Happens?

I don't think anyone will argue that their writing can be improved. I would even go as far to say that most writers think that there are many times that all writing should be improved. However, there is a chance you can go too far in editing. I would love to go back and fix things up in my book, but a reader said, they haven't noticed anything they think is 'wrong'.

If this is the case, I'll
