Blogging, Comments and Making Money

Blogging can be a hobby, a pastime, a business or a a combination of all of them as a blog grows and changes. The important aspect is: Comments.

A few days ago, I had a serious discussion with a friend of mine who has been writing, and publishing a blog for as many years as I have. We've shared much of the same success, and challenges as the other, and we've faced the challenges which

What's The Real Deal: My Experiences With Self-Publishing Companies

Have you ever made a purchase and you find that it's not at all what the company promised? Or, have to ever made a purchase where you wished you hadn't? Makes a person almost wish they had asked "what's the real deal?"

I have published a book, and up to this point I've never shared much of the journey about how it got published. To say the experience was valuable is an understatement, but

The Oxymoron of Expectant Creativity

Have you ever noticed there is this little
inconvenient phenomenon that occurs whenever you are in a crunch for time or
under pressure and it seems like you just can’t write? We spoke about this a
little bit when we looked at stress and how it affects creativity, but I
thought it was worth mentioning again while we are still in this month of
discussing creativity. In fact, it happened to me

“Let it Go”

How to not get “Tangled” up in structure and embrace the creative
process

Sometimes
the most creative and inspiring ideas come from the brainstorming that occurs
when we just write. I have set a timer for 15 minutes and am hoping to write
this post in that amount of time; I will post it immediately after. Why you
ask? Well before you get scared and run away from this post,

Timing is Everything

Ever heard of the term "and then there are days?"

We've all had them, the day where nothing seems to go right and where nothing you planned quite works out the way you want it to. No matter how much you take on, and how well you've planned it, there is always something that goes a bit off.

Publishing is like that as well. I recently sat down with my editor to discuss some ways to make a

Creativity and the Stress of Success

Creativity is a
lot like money for us writers: It doesn’t grow on trees... but we sure as heck
wish it did! Some of this month we wanted to dedicate to the creative process
and how to turn your creative ideas into something worthy of publishing. As we
have said before, not every idea is a gem, but how we get better at hitting the
mark is definitely a skill worth honing if you hope to be

The “Pylon” Effect

It
seems appropriate to talk about this particular challenge at the end of the
month, with all the days of the month behind us but not REALLY. What I mean is
that rather than just passing by, when I look back on the past month it seems like
the days are more additive than finite sequence. It seems this principle
applies itself to shorter daily or weekly snapshots of my life

Checklist For Publishing a Book Successfully!

Publishing a book is simple: If it mean sending a manuscript to potential literary agents or publishers who might pick up your book, and sell it to readers.

Success in publishing a book, however; is an entirely different matter. This month, we are not focusing on self-publishing success, but on success in the traditional publishing industry which is often harder to have. A checklist on

Doubt.

Does
anyone else remember that movie that came out about 6 years ago called “Doubt”?
I remember being so excited to see it mostly because in my eyes Meryl Streep is
an unparalleled goddess when it comes to acting. It was a movie that challenged
a part of the human condition that seems to inspire the most shame in us. It
seems society allows us to be scared and honest, but as
