To Office or Not?

We bought this house a little over a year ago. The little room off the master I thought was perfect. I sometimes think if I didn't have to drag my laptop up the stairs to work and then back down when I mindlessly stare at facebook, I might use it.
Over the weekend, the husband and I rearranged the living room. I have a laptop cart I work on and it has to be positioned a certain way to make it really usuable. Well, this new set-up, I've got no where to write in there. So... I set myself up in the formal dining room. I'm still around everyone. Can hear the kids and such. I'm right here if anyone needs me. But with having the TV away, and even not having to see the kids (I can hear them), I get so much more done! I spend less time mindlessly staring at facebook because when I sit down here away from everyone, it's work time.
While I hate the new living room arrangement at the moment (this is all for the new TV soon), I think I'll stay set up here. A lot less distractions, and work time feels more like work time and not play time.
Anything to be more productive...

What To do For My Big Guys Birthday?

I must confess. It's his birthday, and we've yet to settle on a gift for him. Bad parent award accepted. But he's so tough to buy for. He doesn't play with toys. He's a gamer. Loves to get on the computer and play online games for hours--if we let him. Which has left it hard to figure out what to get him. Do we waste money on toys? Because that's what we'd be doing. He'd play with it once, then shove it in his closet. Or do we buy him a tablet? Something he could read on and play games. Truth be told, I'm leaning toward a tablet. I've been reluctant to get him one. I thought maybe a family one, which is still in my plan. If I get him a tablet, he's still just playing video games (let's be honest, he'll do that 80% of the time). But that's what he likes. It isn't like he isn't active. He is. He likes to ride bikes, play outside with friends, and such. If I tell him to close down the computer and find something else to do. He whines like any kid and eventually finds something to do after I threaten to make him clean the tub with a toothbrush.
So, for the day we're going to have some fun. And then tonight when my husband gets home, I guess we need to make a decision so we can take him shopping. Heck, I've still gotta get a cake!!!
*Shakes head* This day snuck up way too quickly!

Garden Update - Not a good one!
I have a garden update, and it's not a good one. I must tell you, my first flower garden bloomed up beautifully. It got to the point you saw not dirt, just gorgeous white, blue, purple, and pink flowers. I weeded it (when the rain allowed). And I felt such pride at what I created.
Down by my mailbox, I had petunias and marigolds. One day a few weeks ago, all the petunias died! Just shrivlled up all brown and died! I couldn't understand what had happened, especially since the marigods are still there. But, I still had my flowers by the front door...right? For a short time. They didn't die. Something has eaten them! In a matter of a day or two. Flowers...gone. Instead I see eaten up green, ugly stems. AGH! Who ate my flowers? I inspected for bugs, but didn't find any. Is it the rain? We've had a ton of that this year. Needless to say, I miss my pretty flowers that I got to see each day. I wonder if I can revive them?
With summer coming to an end, I guess I can always fill that area with .... fall/winter flowers. Maybe I'll have better luck...once I discover what killed all the flowers.

Writing Tidbits
Surprisingly, I have gotten some writing done this summer with the kids home. Not as much as I'd have liked, but more than I expected. I wrote a 30,000 length novella that kinda came out of nowhere that's currently sitting in slush piles. *Sigh* I hate waiting.
AND, if you've read Wanted: Wife (and we'll pretend you have and loved it!), then you'll love this next one I'm working on. It's title will either be Arranged Love or The Set-Up. The parents have set the hero/heroine up, and Kayla and Ryan decide to play along to appease their parents. But hey, I always supply a happily ever after, so I think all know how that is going to end. But it isn't always the ending anyway, right? It's the guts of the story. The chemistry, the sizzle. *fans self*
I've just completed a round of edits on It Must Be Fate. The next book after Bidding Wars (and I'm going to pretend you're screaming with excitement!) I don't have a release date yet, but I think it will be out before this year is out.
Minus a short story in an upcoming movie star anthology, that's all I got folks! I've been concentrating on writing longer stories and they take more time.
I am going to get the next book in the Brookfield series done soon. And since that series is my baby--my self pubbed series--I hope that it's also out this year. Just depends really on how fast I can get it written and then edited.
Well, that's what's going on in the writing world. Now I need to take off my author hat and get back to the kids. August 7th is around the corner and I can get back to being a 8-hour writer. But let's be serious, I don't write those 8 hours. I write 1 hour and social network 7. :)

So now, let's begin talking about the fun part...the prizes! Up first...the grand prize. 1 Kindle Fire and 1 $50 amazon gift card! Now those are two awesome prizes!
And next, what am I giving you?

Help Wanted: A Wife
Darcy White can't believe she's answering a help wanted ad from someone looking to hire a wife, but she's hit rock bottom and is on the verge of being evicted from her apartment. When she learns that the guy she had a crush on in high school is the one looking to hire, she'd be crazy not to live out her fantasy.
Steven McDonald needs a wife, or at least a fiancée, before his grandfather retires or else he won't inherit the family business. He knows not just any woman will do, and in a desperate attempt to find a solution, he places a help wanted ad in the local paper. The day Darcy White answers it, his dreams begin to come true.
As Darcy and Steven pretend they're engaged, they make a promise to keep things platonic. But the more time they spend together, the harder it is to keep their hands off one another. With his grandfather's retirement approaching, and the possible end to their fake engagement, can Steven and Darcy admit their feelings to not only themselves but each other?

Sinful Saturday - Wanted: Wife

Now for my sentences I hope will entice you to want to learn more.
Sliding his hand around her neck, he tilted her head so he could deepen the kiss. Her fingers danced around his waist and the little sensation went straight to his groin. Releasing her hand, he gripped her waist and pulled her into him. He was hard and it pressed into her and she didn't seem to mind. Damn this woman! She should be pushing away from him, reminding him they were to stay friends, but instead he kept hoping her hand would find its way lower.
Could they do this once and then pretend it never happened? His erection was telling him yes, but his brain was telling him no. He started to pull away from the kiss, but Darcy wouldn't let him.
God, he was turned on and wanted to touch her, taste her, explore her. He needed her!

Love On The Beach Blog Hop!

Now for the reason you're here! The giveaway!
Two years ago this month Beachwalk Press released their first books. To celebrate, we're hosting a Love on the Beach blog hop. This will run from July 1st through July 14th. Over 20 Beachwalk Press authors are participating and we have some fabulous prizes to give away.
The grand prize is a Kindle Paperlight!
Additional prizes include:
* A beach tote bag filled with Beachwalk Press print books (winner's choice of 5 print titles)
* Two gift certificates of $25 each (winners' choice of GC from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or All Romance Ebooks)
Also, each author will be giving away an additional prize of their choosing.
That's almost 30 prizes in total!
*Note: Be sure to leave your email address in the comment.*

When I was offered a contract from Beachwalk Press, the publisher herself had written me a long and kind letter to go along with the contract offer. Not many publishers take the time to do that. I liked how personal it was. She made me feel like I wasn't just another author at her press. And that folks is something big for me. Not feeling like just another number--so to speak.
What's My Giveaway?
I'm giving away to two winners, their choice of any one of the eBooks in the Hot Bods Series. You get to choose between Fool Me Once, More Than Useful, Accidental Love, or Opposite Attract. All of these are novella length and packed full of passion. Are you looking for a series that will not only make you swoon, but also heat you up? Look no further. The Hot Bods Series is a collection of four novellas, each one containing a feisty heroine and a hero who'll steal your heart. So come along with Skylar, Amy, Jane, and Francesca as they find their happily ever after, even when they feel like it will never happen. After all, it can't be as simple as falling in love, can it?
Content Warning: these stories contain explicit sex
To be entered into the drawings just click on the authors' names listed below to visit their blog, then leave a comment with your email address included.
Each author will be posting a spotlight on one of their Beachwalk Press books (or a spotlight on a series they have with Beachwalk Press), and they will also be sharing what drew them to publish with us. Warning: You'll be seeing some great books, so expect your 'I want to read it' list to increase .

Completed a new novella!
I completed UNFORGETTABLE (Book 1 of The Gentleman's Club). I'm so excited. Its with my beta readers now. I wish I had some finger nails so I'd have something to occupy myself as I wait to hear if its good or bad.
It's been quite awhile since I finished a story. It feels good. Kinda like I've accomplished something! The next question is...what to do with the story. You see, I am this weird person. When I begin a story, I have the publisher in mind. But this one hit me out of no where. I've got to step back and see where this one fits. Want a sneak peak? Here's the blurb. Its rough I warn ya! Not been edited yet, so don't judge. :)
Can an older man be everything Krista’s been looking for?
A new club is in town. An exclusive May-December club. Krista isn’t sure she’s looking for an older man, but her friend doesn’t give her a choice as she drags her into the club for support. It’s then Krista lays eyes on a man who leaves her speechless.
Neil Clark likes younger women and having a good time. Krista catches his eye right away, as well as his heart. He knows from the beginning she isn’t a women to simply play with. But for some reason, Krista doesn’t want him. However, Neil isn’t about to let her walk away.
Krista’s heart and mind battle it out as Neil does his best to win her over. But there is one big thing holding her back and when Neil learns of it, is it something he’d be willing to look past?
What do you think?! Does it intrigue you?
