What's Going on and What's Coming...

Picture I've been pretty busy writing lately. Remember that new adult I mentioned a few weeks back. Well, it's flowing. I'm about 27,000 words into it now. It's been a learning experiance, that's for sure. The hardest part so far is staying in first person. I'm so trained to write in third, that I find myself switching back and forth. But I'm pleased with it. I've even made a cover for it. What do you think? If it stays flowing the way it has been, I'm hoping to have it all done by the end of October, but if not, I'll have it finished it November.

And in November, I plan to do NaNoWriMo. I enjoyed it last year. I'm not a 50k words a month kinda writer. So it was really nice to push myself. This year I'll be working on a sensual contemporary romance with humor called Ticket To Love. It about two neighbors who just can't get along, and one of them who recently won the lottery. I can't wait to get started on this one. It's going to be a lot of fun. Picture Growing Love - my latest Brookfield series just released. (Click the picture for buy links and excerpt) I plan to release 2 more titles in this series in 2014. I can't believe I have any type of idea what I'm doing in 2014!

I have a new fun and sexy series called The Gentleman's Club. The first book Unforgettable is under contract. I'm not sure yet of the release date, but when I know I'll be sure to let you know as well. This series doesn't have a set number of books to it. I've left it open in the way Brookfield is, so that it's open-ended. I hope readers enjoy this series.

And if you're curious what's coming soon for your reading pleasure. Arranged Love is coming January 2014 from Beachwalk Press. It Must Be Fate (Love Strikes 2) from Etopia Press should be out this year. I don't have a date as of yet, but hope to soon.

I think that's all. Busy, busy! But I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Coming October 11 - Growing Love (Brookfield Series)

Picture I'm super excited about this release! And this week, NOT JUST FRIENDS is on sale for 99 cents!!!!! If you haven't met Diane who happens to be the heroine in Growing Love, check it out.
Now, what's Growing Love all about?

Resigned to raising her baby without the father, Diane has everything figured out—a substitute dad in place, a support system ready, and a new home to move into—at least until the day he knocks on her door.

Matt tried to let Diane go, tried to forget that she was carrying his child, but an ultrasound picture brings his walls tumbling down. He can’t stay away any longer. But he hasn’t always been perfect. Diane and he share a past full of deceit and lies and now they have only nine months to undo it all and become responsible adults. It’s not only about them anymore.

With complications in her pregnancy, Diane is forced to move back to Brookfield to be under the care of her family. All she has to do is keep her feelings for Matt in check and she can stick to her original plan—raise the baby with Tom.

But it seems Matt has a few choice words about that…
Sneak Peak! Diane set the brush down after combing out all her tangles. All she needed was a light layer of makeup and she’d be ready. Tom was supposed to be coming today and she couldn’t wait to see him. The last few days, she’d been feeling like herself again. Maybe it was time to go home. As much as she wanted to stay in Brookfield, she wasn’t sure it was right.

Matt had been leaving her alone. Aside from one day he’d left some bakery items for her with Alyssa. He hadn’t done it again. Diane wasn’t sure if this was a good or bad thing. One moment he’d been adamant about being in her life and now he was gone.

She needed to stop thinking about him and especially stop wanting him. But she’d always been attracted to him, even when he’d dated Alyssa. She found herself making eyes at him though she knew it was wrong. But when it had come to Matt, she threw all morals out the window. And she couldn’t do that anymore. She had a baby to think of.

After turning off the bathroom light, she went into the living room to sit and rest a few. She wanted to get out for a bit, maybe go see a movie. That required sitting and would be enjoyable. Hopefully she could convince Tom.  He was acting more and more like a mother hen these days.

A light knock sounded on the door. Diane hopped up and grinned. She opened the door and practically jumped into his arms.

“Wow, I didn’t think you’d be that happy to see me.”

She stepped back and straightened her clothes. This was awkward. How did she explain this. Though it had felt good to have his arms around her again. “Matt, what are you doing here?”

He cocked an eyebrow. “Obviously I wasn’t who you were happy to see.”

“Tom’s supposed to be coming.”

“Can I come in?” he asked nervously.

Was that a good idea? “I don’t know.”

“I promise not to get you upset.”

“Okay.” She motioned for him to enter. She might as well see what he wanted. “This won’t take long, will it?”

Matt glanced at her. “No.”

They sat down on opposite couches but still by each other in the living room. Maybe she should move over a cushion. Diane knew she needed to keep the tension down. But something about this man got her blood pumping. Whether it was hopping in the sack or getting in an argument, she stayed all hot and bothered around him.

“Your sister told me I’m the cause of your stress.”

So that was why he’d been leaving her alone. She was going to kill Alyssa, or was she?

“I don’t want you having this baby early because of me.” He paused. “Or more likely, I don’t want to be the one blamed. If you want, I’ll go away until after you have our son. Just as long as I’m not the one who is blamed if the baby is colicky or something like that. I can’t be the cause of every problem.”

The cause of problems? Where had he gotten this idea from? “Matt, no one blames you—”

“Yes, you and your sister do. Hell, Cody might too. But at least he talks to me to find out my side. All I get from Alyssa is to go away until the baby arrives. As though the problems in this pregnancy were caused by me.” He took a deep breath and continued, “I don’t mean to come here and argue, but I’m tired of being a doormat.”

She hated that he felt that way. “You’re not.”

He snickered. “You just don’t see it. I don’t want to fight or see you get upset. Each time I’ve talked to you has landed you with contractions. But I’m trying. I really am. If you’d let me, I’d be so much more.” His eyes were dark with passion and she knew what he meant. “But I understand you’re with Tom.”

“I’m—”

“Don’t apologize. I let you go. One of my biggest mistakes.”

Diane didn’t even realize she was standing or know how she got onto the same couch with Matt. But her lips found his and when they touched, all was right again. They stayed still a moment with just their lips touching. God, she wanted this man. But as she wrapped a hand around his neck to deepen the kiss, she felt him resist. She pulled back and gazed into his eyes.

“Why did you do that?” he asked.

She sat frozen, staring at him. “I, uh. I don’t know.”

“We can’t do that.”

Matt was telling her no. He’d told her he wanted her. And she’d kissed him. Now he was telling her he couldn’t do this. Wow, she was really confused. She wiped her hands across her pants before she stood and paced a little. Her cheeks burned from embarrassment. This man was going to drive her insane.

“Please, sit.” He patted the couch.

“No. I’m not going to sit down. I’m sick and tired of everyone telling me to sit down. Everyone thinks they know what I need or want. But they don’t.” She placed her hands on her hips. “Maybe I want you too.”

“What about Tom?”

“What about me?” Tom appeared.

Trying My Hand At A New Adult

I'm stepping out of my comfort zone. I'm working on something new, and have no idea if it will ever see the light of day. But I wanted to try it. I'm a little head of my writing schedule at the moment, and I thought I'd take a moment to step away from the books in series that are next, to do something fun and different. So what it is, you ask? I'm working on a new adult written in first person. Yup, no multiple point of views like I usually like. I love getting into the hero's head. No kids for my characters to have. No past love experiences that have hurt them. Just a young, fresh love, from an innocent eighteen years old's point of view. And if you're wondering what brought this on, well to be honest, I wanted to try something else. I love romance. Love it. And I don't live under a rock. New adult is popular. Does this mean I'm following the "in" crowd so to speak. Yeah, I am. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I've been reading the genre, and you know what, I like it! I see why readers do too. I have no idea if I will finish this story, or if I can even write the genre. But sometimes, I just want to step out of my comfort zone and do something new and fresh.  For all I know, I might find out I love it.

For those who might be interested, I'll be adding a widget to the side of the blog as the book grows. Guess time will tell how this little idea goes.

My Odd Writing Quirk

I wonder if anyone out there does this? I wouldn't think I'm the only one, but I guess you never know.

When I finish the first draft of a story, there is one thing I don't do until draft two. I make a little note on the document before I close it for at least a week and try to push it from my mind. So, what is the odd thing?

I don't write the books ending until the second draft. Why? Because I like to re-read everything I've written and see if the idea I had for the ending is still the best ending after the whole story has digested.

Yup, so there you have it. I'm an odd cookie, I know.

What I've Been Working On.

Picture I've been working up a storm on Growing Love - Brookfield 4. If you've read Not Just Friends , then you should remember Alyssa's sister, Diane. This is her story. And well, I really must be honest, this story has me questioning if it's going to be a romance or not--seriously. It's been driving my bonkers, but finally, my hero and heroine have put their differences aside. It only took almost the whole novella.

The story isn't finished being written yet, but I expect either tonight or by tomorrow that it will be. At least draft 1.  So what else is in the works? I've got a story in an anthology coming out later this month. Romancing The Stars with my story Take Two. I believe It Must Be Fate will be releasing on November 1st. I've got a story out on submissions I'm waiting to hear about. It's titled Arranged Love. And I also have a novella in a new series Unforgettable that has been contracted, but don't have much info yet to give you on that--except its a new erotic series, and it's hot! A May-December series called The Gentleman's Club. I can't wait to share it with you.

That's what's going on here. It's keeping me super busy, but I love it!

5k A Writing Day Challange

Notice that says 5k (5,000) a writing day. Not everyday is a writing day. :)
I'm putting myself on this challenge for this whole week. Not only am I wanting to step up my word count so I can get more done, but the story I am working on I want to get into your hands. Curious what it is I am pounding away at. The next Brookfield series story, of course! Aren't you dying for Diane's story - you met her in Not Just Friends. This one took me awhile to plan. It had to be just right. I feel a lot of pressure on this one. I've had mixed feedback on readers wanting her to end up with Matt, other's want Tom, and hey, some want her with Matt and Tom. I will state, currently I'm not a menage writer and the Brookfield series is a tame series, so I don't think all three will be hoping in the sack together. However, I am a panster (not an outliner), so you never know!

Fingers and toes crossed I have success this week on the days I write. I have a goal to have this one done by mid-September and in my lovely editors hands by October. Which could mean a November release. :)

Stay tuned!

New Cover! - Romancing The Stars Anthology

Picture

Coming September 24th, I have a short story in the Romancing The Stars anthology, titled Take Two . It's about two high school flames reconnecting. What's the catch? My hero is now a movie star. :)

Yup, the whole anthology deals with movie stars -- one of my favorite type of romances. Check back soon for more updates!

Ella Jade's Turning What? Blog Hop

Picture I've known the lovely Ella Jade now for about two years. I love her work and I love just talking to her. She's always got great advice, such as: Don't stalk your book ranks, and stay away from reviews!

Ella Jade is a talented author. She always creates swoon-worthy heros.

So now it's time to celebrate her birthday in style. How great is she giving away prizes for her birthday!

There will be a grand prize, as well as individual prizes. So now that I've gushed about Ella, let's get to the reason why you're here. :) The goodies. This hops grand prize is: A $100 giftcard to either Amazon or Barnes and Noble (winner's choice).

And now, what am I giving away? Ella Jade is known for her dominate men, so I've decided to give away a copy of my BDSM novella, Bound By Pleasure. Picture Can Megan let her guard down enough to experience the pleasures Greg has to offer?

As an erotic romance author who has spent hours researching the BDSM lifestyle, Megan thinks she knows all about it. But when she decides to explore it firsthand, she quickly learns that there's a lot she doesn't know.

Greg isn't your typical Dom. He's an artist, and his life is anything but organized. He likes Megan from the start. She's honest and he sees something different in her. The more time he spends with her, the more he finds himself acting in ways he never has before. He's developing feelings for her, and he's hopeful Megan might be feeling the same way, but every time he tries to get her to open up to him, it seems that she takes a huge step back.

Megan has a hard time expressing herself, a problem that only intensified when her ex criticized her every time she tried to share her feelings. As a result, she learned to bite her tongue and keep her emotions hidden. So when she begins to fall in love with Greg, she isn't sure how to tell him, or even if she should tell him. But she fears if she doesn't open up to him soon, she may lose him. Can Megan find the courage she needs before it's too late?

Now to the details on how to enter. Leave a comment with your email address! It's that simple!

Have fun and hop along!
