The Story Of How We Got Six Cats (even when some passed!)

I love cats. My husband loves cats. Yup, you see where this is going. We love cats. When the hubby and I got married, we each brought a cat. I brought Lacey and he brought Tigger. Picture Tigger Picture Lacey We were happy with our two cats. However, Lacey and Tigger did not like one another. Guess they weren't happy about the hubby and I joining up. Anyway, after we bought our first house, my husband was home watching our son while I worked as a Nanny one afternoon. He called to tell me kittens were on the back porch. From that litter, he found one he loved and wanted who we caught and named Callie. And from that litter, there was a talkative boy I wanted, who we named Patched and we now call Patty Cake. We found homes for the other kitten, however we were unable to catch the mom--yet! Picture Callie Picture Patty Cake So, we settled into life with 4 cats. We knew it was crazy, but it worked. The Mom cat stuck around, though we couldn't get near her. She did have several more litters and we found homes for all those kittens. Finally, enough was enough. We borrowed a small animal trap and caught the Mom cat. Taking her and one of the kittens that was left from that litter to get spayed and the kitten neutered. Well, son fell in love with the boy kitten and we named him Bobby. Making him official cat number 5. After Mom was spayed, we fully expected her to go bat wild in our house until she was healed and could go back in the wild. WRONG. Mom cat was happy and never wanted to leave the house again. Earning the name Mama Kitty and becoming official cat 6. And becoming out BIGGEST lap cat and snuggler!
Picture Mama Kitty Picture Bobby So at this point, for a few years we had Tigger, Lacey, Callie, Patty Cake, Bobby, and Mama Kitty. Cats don't live forever. And Tigger became ill and went into kidney failure and passed away.  Leaving us with 5 cats...

However, shortly after her passing, we were on Craiglists when an ad came up with cats who were on the kill list at a shelter. Well, an 8 week old cat who kinda resembled Tigger was on the list. We drove 2 hours to save her and 2 hours home--and she pooped in the car.

Valerie became the new sixth cat! And she is now officially my baby (Lacey had been my baby, but I'm sure you know where this story might be going.) Picture Valerie So for the next year and a half, we had our six cat status again. We now had Lacey, Callie, Patty Cake, Bobby, Mama Kitty, and Valerie.  Once afternoon, I found Lacey having a hard time breathing, rushed her to the vet to learn she had cancer and a tumor that had closed up her throat, which was ultimately suffocating her to death. :( I still feel bad I didn't know, but cats hide illness. :(

So, our status of 6 cats went down to 5. And we said: NO MORE CATS! After losing two and the heart ache it caused and the amount of cats we had, we did not need anymore.

A year later, we were visiting my mother in laws and a friend of hers had a cat who needed a home. Originally, my husbands sister was going to take the cat, but after rescuing the cat, it wasn't going to work out for her to have the cat in her home. So we brought her home. She wasn't a nice cat. One of those nightmare cats. Scratch, bite...Yikes!

We spent a little one on one with her to get her used to people, and yes, we fell in love with her, making Zoey cat number 6. And it's back....6 cats! Picture Zoey We love each and every one of them. And we swear even now, we won't do this again. We won't get anymore cats until some of the ones we have, have passed on.

Our cats ages are currently: Mama Kitty (10), Callie and Patty Cake (8), Bobby (6), Valerie (4), and Zoey (3).

Oh, did I mention we have a dog too? Just one!!! I couldn't handle more than one. Man...dogs are a lot of work! Picture Cocoa

Chapter One - Arranged Love

Release day is almost here! January 20th, 2o14. I'm so excited for this release. Love, love, love this story. This upcoming week, I will be sharing some fun snippets from the book, so be sure to follow me on Facebook (Fan) & Facebook (Friend).  And now, chapter one!  Chapter One Picture “You’re kidding me, right? Please, I’m begging you. Tell me this is all some sort of joke.” Kayla Ames stared at her parents in disbelief.

“Give it a chance,” her mother said. “Besides, you’re thirty-two and not doing a good job on your own.”

“This isn’t a foreign country though. I don’t need your help.”

“We’re your parents. We know you better than you know yourself,” her father added.

Was he serious? “I doubt that. If so, you’d have known how much this would upset me.”

“We knew. But it’s what’s best.” He took a sip from the coffee cup he held.

Kayla crossed her arms and slumped against the door frame. “This isn’t happening.” The statement was more for her than it was for them. If she knew her parents, then they weren’t listening anyway. They’d come up with yet another scheme to make her settle down.

“At least meet him,” her mother said.

Kayla sighed. Arguing with her parents was like talking to a brick wall. It didn’t matter how many times she told them ‘no’, they were going to find a way around it. She might as well give in. “Fine. Whatever.”

“Oh, Kayla. You make me so happy,” her mother gushed.
She rolled her eyes. When she left there, she was getting a drink. “Don’t get to ahead of yourself. I’ll meet him on my terms. No way am I meeting him here with you two around. I’d be married by the end of dinner.”

Her parents laughed and she wasn’t sure what was so amusing. Her mother reached out and held Kayla’s hand. “We understand you don’t want to have your first encounter with us there. That would be awkward.”

Awkward…this whole thing was strange. Hell, meeting him with her parents might be the easiest route. She had no idea what to expect and didn’t know anything about him. “What does he do again?”

“He’s a scientist,” her father said.

Kayla sighed. “A nerd.”

“No, dear. He’s a very handsome man. Ryan Newell. When I spoke to his parents, they were just as shocked that he isn’t married yet either.” Her mom squeezed her hand.

Oh yeah, most likely the man had a face only his mother could love. Men didn’t usually need to be set-up—unless there was something wrong with them. God, what was she getting herself into? One date. That was it. After that, she’d tell her parents he was a complete dud and hopefully they could move on from this little fiasco.

“I’m going to head home. When you have the details, let me know. I’ll be sure to schedule it in.” Kayla pushed herself up from the wall.

She hugged both her parents and left as fast as she could. As she climbed into her car, she hoped this might have been some sort of dream. But fifteen minutes later, she entered her one bedroom apartment and it hit her. She was thirty-two and single, had never been close to the altar. Her only companion was her pet rabbit named Bunny. Perhaps she was the one with a face only a mother could love.

* * * *

Ryan Newell locked up his office for the evening. Tonight he could use a beer. A tall, cold one. And he knew just the place. McDuffy’s. The service was crap, but the beer was cheap, and sometimes that was more important. It also helped that McDuffy’s was right next to his condo, so he could walk home if he got too sloshed, which was the plan.

His cellphone rang. Pulling it from his pocket, he glanced at the screen. His mother. She loved to talk, and at the moment he was just too exhausted, both physically and mentally, to listen to her talk about the cat or any of the other things she usually went on about for hours.

The ringing stopped and he felt slightly guilty about ignoring her. He’d make sure to call her tomorrow.

Ten minutes later, he parked in front of McDuffy’s. As he entered the dimly lit building, he heard someone call from a corner pool table. “What’s up, Newell?”

He nodded in that direction, but continued to make a beeline toward the bar. He sat down on the tall stool, and a sultry looking redhead came over, leaning forward enough so her cleavage was the first thing he noticed.

“What can I get for ya?” She winked.

“Whatever is on tap tonight.”

“Bad day?”

He groaned. “Long day. Make the mug frosted as well.”

“I can do that.” She turned, leaving a trail of strong perfume. A moment later, she slid the cup in his direction, beer spilling over the sides.

Ryan grabbed a napkin from the stack and cleaned up the spot. He crumpled the paper and tossed it aside before picking up his cool mug and spinning around slightly on the stool. He’d been working on a new project at work and it wasn’t going the way he wanted it to. He was at that point where he wanted to start over. Somewhere along the way, something hadn’t been calculated correctly. He had a whole notebook of notes he needed to start looking over.

He took two big gulps then set the beverage down. A woman a few stools down caught his attention. She sucked on a bright pink straw, enjoying what he assumed to be a fruity drink with the fruit lining the cup. She must have sensed him watching her, because her gaze caught his and she smiled at him. Something about those lips intrigued him.

Maybe tonight he’d really let loose. Perhaps that’s what his brain needed. Ryan could take that woman back to his place, sink into her, and for an hour at least, his problems wouldn’t exist.

Sliding off the stool, he went over to her.

“Hi,” he said as he set his beer down next to her fruit concoction. “What’s a beautiful woman like yourself doing down here by herself?”

“Trying to forget that her parents run her life.”

He nodded, thinking of the ignored phone call from his mom. “I have a set of those too.”

“Oh, yeah?” She raised an eyebrow at him.

“I think it might be our parents’ job though.” He stared at her, taking her in. She wore her brown hair long and straight. She wasn’t the skinniest girl he’d ever seen, but her curves could definitely get his motors pumping. “What’s your name?”

She took a long drink before answering. “Ah, Tatiana.”

Tatiana? Why did he have a feeling that was a made up name? Perhaps that was best. Leave this anonymous. If he did get lucky, he knew it would be only for tonight.

“I’m Doug. It’s nice to meet you, Tatiana.”

“Nice to meet you too.”

He took a deep breath. He was never forward. He was usually an over-thinker, but staring at this woman in front of him, he decided that tonight he was ‘Doug’ and ‘Doug’ didn’t over think. He took life by the reins, and when something as hot and scrumptious as Tatiana was presented, he was going to take it.

“How about we go somewhere where we can get to know one another a little better,” he suggested nervously. She was going to laugh and turn him down flat; he just knew it.

Tatiana stared at him, chewing her bottom lip. Then she spoke. “I thought you’d never ask.”

Holy crap! She’d agreed. “G-Good. Let’s go.” He held a hand out to her.

She took it, her skin soft in his palm. “Where are we going?”

“It just so happens that my place is within walking distance. If you’d prefer though, we could—”

“Your place is fine.”

They left the bar, and Ryan hesitated a moment about leaving his car there, but figured it would be fine. He didn’t expect Tatiana to stay the night. They’d connect, have a little fun, and he’d send her on her way once he knew she was sober enough. At least, that’s how he thought it would go. He’d never done anything like this before.

At his condo, he unlocked the door. Pushing it open, he motioned for her to go inside first. Was this going to get awkward? Did they just go straight to his room?

She turned to him. “I don’t usually do this sorta thing.”

He was about to tell her that he didn’t either, but if he was going to keep up with this Doug shenanigan, then he was certain that Doug did. “So far you’re doing great. Can I get you anything to drink?”

She shook her head. Her breathing was quick.

Ryan walked over, slid his hand around to the back of her neck, tilted her head up with his thumb, and kissed her. She moaned and molded her body against his. As they kissed, he took the time to build up his courage. He had to get her from the living room to his bed. But damn, he didn’t want to stop kissing her. She was good, and his cock was ready to explode.

He lifted her, and she wrapped her legs around his waist. He carried her to his room and sat on the bed slowly. Tatiana broke the kiss and shoved him back onto the mattress.

“I don’t want a lot of foreplay. What I need is a thorough fuck. Got it?”

He gazed at her, wondering if he was imagining this. Did he drink too much and hit his head on the bar? But she was there, in the flesh. And she was taking her shirt off.

“Let me help.” He started to sit up, but she stopped him.

“You get your clothes off, and I’ll do mine.” She climbed off him.

He watched as she reached behind her back and unclasped her bra. When the material dropped to the floor, he thought he might be paralyzed. She had big breasts. He could imagine doing so many naughty things to them.

She unzipped her jeans and slid them down her thighs, along with her panties. She was naked. Oh God, he was going to burst. He needed to get inside of her quick.

Ryan removed his clothes in record speed. He took the only condom he had from his wallet. Once he had it on, he decided to fully embrace this new side of him. He grabbed Tatiana by the waist and spun her around so her back was to him. “Spread them,” he commanded.

“Certainly.”

And she did. She leaned over the bed, and he couldn’t hold back any longer. He tangled his hands in her dark locks and guided himself to her entrance. He then thrust into her, finding the stress relief he’d been seeking all along.

Are Silent Farts Worse?

There is a channel on You Tube that I love. The kids and I will sit and watch videos from this channel  for a good thirty minutes. A few of them aren't kid appropriate, so I recommend watching them first before showing them to your kids.

Happy Friday! And now you've got more knowledge on..FARTS!

Let's get hooking!

Picture Happy Wednesday. Are you staying warm? Temps are finally rising again here in Georgia. Thank goodness. The 30's feel warm compared to 5!

Recently, my best friend Crystal has been teaching me how to crochet. She says before long I will be hooked. A hooker. Something like that. Never did I think I would be a hooker. Ha ha! Okay, okay, jokes put aside.

Each Wednesday, I'm going to start sharing projects I'm working on. Yes, I do other things besides write. Shocker, I know.  Up above, you can see the very first thing I made. A white infinity scarf! My dear friend Crystal drove me crazy with this project. We started this scarf countless times. I have NO IDEA what I did with it. She kept taking it from me and saying. "No, I have a better idea." Then she'd unravel it and do something else and show me what she did. Then...get this, sent me home on my own to finish it. But I did it, and I think it's an awesome infinity scarf, don't you think? Here it is on me. Picture Picture This black one is the one she made. She made her design up. (Show off!)

So now I am looking at all these things grandparents and such have made me all these years and I'm trying to figure it out.

Currently I am working on making my daughter a scarf following the single crochet. (Super simple). I really hope to have it finished next week to show you. I'm making it with some pretty, multi-color yarn.

So what's your craft? Are you a hooker too? (Yes, I had to throw that back out there.)

Happy Wednesday! Stay warm!!!

Georgia...Snow...Ha ha!

Picture SNOW!!! Or so the weather man says. I look outside this morning for something that might resemble this photo--this is Georgia, folks! And well, no snow. Nothing.

Ah, and once again, the weather people of Georgia have dangled this freak weather occurrence in our face, while the rest of the country is getting a freakin' blizzard!

You see, I've lived in Georgia all my life. Usually, at least one a year, we get snow. Three years ago this month, we were pounded with a storm that left most of us shut down for a week. Curious how much snow that was? Well, at my house that equaled...

6 INCHES!

Now before you northerners fall over laughing, we did get an ice storm right after, so on top of our 6 inches of fluffy white stuff, we had about an inch of ice.  Georgia people, or any southern state, isn't prepared for this. We don't have the salt supply for the roads and such, which leave us stranded at home. One week locked in the house with my family. First few days, fun. Last few days, plotting out ways to get away from the beloved family.

So, it's been 3 years like I said since we've had any snow, minus a few flurries that didn't do anything but get us all to stare out our windows and smile with joy.

The weather person said snow would happen today. Of course, we take that like a grain on salt. Ha ha, yeah right! And for us who didn't believe it would snow, well, we are right today. And for those hopeful, sorry, it didn't snow. At least not at my house.

However, today we are being tortured by the weather gods. It's cold! And I mean cold!!!!

It's in the twenties out there....and it's going to keep dropping all day. But 6PM it will be in the teens, and over night, in the single digits.

This is GEORGIA, folks. Don't torture us with this frigid weather and not give us any snow.

Sigh, now to layer on the clothes and stare at the photos on Facebook of my friends everywhere else in the country, buried inside their homes, wishing that their snow would just go away.

Happy Monday!

Ticket To Love is complete!

There is a feeling an author get's when they finish a book. A total shake your booty and dance kinda feeling. A woo-hoo, one step away from submitting this baby to the publisher/editor.

So, draft 2 was completed today on Ticket To Love. It's now in the hands of my two trusted beta readers. Now I've got to do the blurb and synopsis since this one will be going to a publishing house. The fun is never over.

Also, while it's in the hands of the beta reader, this is my time I sit and think about the plot. Do I need to add any other scenes. Expand any areas? Hopefully with feedback, I will know which way to go. There are still a few things I'm contemplating with this story. But I will sleep on it for a few days and then as I go over the notes from the betas I'll make my decision. I'd hoped that this story would've been longer. That's one thing. However, I love the hero (Brad) and heroine (Evelyn) in this story. They were so fun. These two have spark! No denying it. If they weren't arguing, they were kissing. :) And they did not want a slow-paced story. Just wait until you meet Evelyn. Now that's a woman who knows what she wants.

Curious at all what Ticket To Love is about? Here is a horrible blurb, and I do mean horrible. This is not my best attempt at a blurb, but it's a start. And it's a general idea what it's about.
Evelyn Parker is turning thirty-five and she isn’t happy about it since she’s single and alone. Her grandmother gives her a gift and upon unwrapping it, Eve finds a lottery ticket. That night, Evelyn’s whole life changed.

Brad Turner has lived next door to Evelyn for years. She’s always been a sweet woman until his dog decided that her trash was his next dinner. It’s then Eve shows her true self, one that starts a spark in him and a craving for more.

Before long, Eve and Brad find themselves fighting and kissing. But can they ever be anymore? Especially when Brad’s obsessed about money and Evelyn’s hiding her millions from him?

What did you think?

Okay, now I am off to keep on shaking my booty because I completed this gem!

Goals for 2014

It's that time of the year. We reminisce on what we've done in 2013 and what we want to do in 2014. If you'd like to see all I did in 2013, check out this blog post HERE. Now to think ahead.

In 2014, I'd like to continue writing longer pieces. In 2013, I feel like I finally found my genre I'm comfortable with. Now to take that genre and run with it.

I would like to continue to push the amount of words I write in  day, but without sacrificing quality. I'm usually a 3k (3000 words) a day kinda writer. And that's with getting as much thought process on a scene down at the time. The last few days I was able to do over 4k, and that was with turning off social media...

Which leads to the next one. I need to schedule my social media time. Right now, I must admit, I am one of those people who will stare at facebook for hours, hitting refresh just to see what's going on. Mid-scene while writing, I will stop writing just because facebook dinged. No more.

I want to actaully blog more and get a little more personal. I feel like me holding back on who I am is what is holding me back some in my career. I'm a keep to myself kinda person usually, but I need to break away from that. So hopefully in 2014, I will blog more about life in general, as well as share some pictures and so on.

And finally - the big one. In 2013 I was so excited to actually hit some amazon best selling lists. How about this year I go for the big lists. The USA or NYT lists. --- HEY! A girl can dream, right?!

Happy New Year! I hope your 2014 is great!

A Look Back At What Published During 2013.

2013 was good. I feel like I finally started to put a footprint out there as an author. I had several books on the Amazon best seller lists and have finally become comfortable in my author skin. I'm usually a good planner, but I don't have a good plan yet for 2014. But I'm not too worried. It's going to be a great year. And I'm kicking of January with a fab release called Arranged Love. And then I have a brand new series starting with some hunky older rich men as the heros. I can't wait to share these stories with you. And if you have enjoyed the Brookfield series. Don't worry, it's not over. I'm hoping to release two more in this series in 2014.

Enjoy my year in review on publications.  Picture January - The Naked Truth.
A fun novella and my first book to kick off it's first day of release on an Amazon bestseller list. THANK YOU! Picture February - Opposites Attract.
The final book in the Hot Bods erotic romance novella series. Picture March - HerStory.
An anthology with 27 authors. All stories dedicated to women's history. Picture March - Not Just Friends.
The third in the Brookfield series also spent some time on the Amazon and All Romance best selling lists.  Picture April - Bed, Breakfast, and You. The prequel to the Brookfield series kicked off on several Amazon and All Romance bestseller list in the paid story. And when it was made free, it made it to #2 in the short story free category. Thank you to everyone who has read this stories and the series! Picture May - Bidding Wars.
My first full-length and one of my favorite stories I've ever written. Picture July - Wanted: Wife.
This story I took from a short 7000 word short story and turned it into a long novella -- just under the considered full-length word count. This is also a favorite of mine. The hero is super swoon-worthy. Picture September - Romancing The Stars.
I joined up with some other authors and wrote a short story called Take Two. Picture October - Growing Love.
The fourth in the Brookfield Series. This book was the one I was the most nervous about. The heroine is very hard to digest! But over all, this is a great story about growing up! Picture November - It Must Be Fate.
My second full-length novel is released. I just love the cover to this one! Picture November - Tempting The Manny (Re-release).
This story got a make over inside and out.
