A Big Thanks to Book Bloggers & Fellow Authors
These blogs are amazing and are packed with awesome reviews, contests, author interviews, etc. I have listed a few on my blog, but you can just keep jumping from one to the other to find your favorites and settle in. You can follow most of them on Twitter as well! It is a great world to get involved in, and I am so happy to be able to get to know some of these wonderful people as I start my indie-publishing journey!
I have also been loving all of the correspondence with fellow authors. It is great to chat and hear what others are up to! This whole process has been a learning experience and a good one at that!
Be sure to check out Goodreads.com and also search for some great book blogs that interest you! It is a fun place to research books if you are at a loss at what to start next!
I am now signing off because I am freezing and need to turn on the fireplace and get a cup of tea. This morning was our first day of frost for the season, and I am guessing it is happening again tomorrow!!
Have a great rest of the week!!!October 18, 2011
Mid-October already? Great Recipe Blog to check out!!
The leaves are finally beginning to change colors and I am so excited about the true beginning of fall! Over the weekend, besides attending the conference, I made a wonderful recipe from my friend's food blog. It was a pumpkin cheesecake and was so delish!! Rather than make an entire cheesecake, though, I made them in tiny cupcake holders. It was a bit more tedious than I realized as I was putting baby crust in each and then filling on top but so amazingly good!!! I was able to freeze the rest, and now when friends are over I can pull a few out of the freezer and put a little whipped cream on top!
Link to recipe is below.I have been very busy at my 'day job' so I have been eating up my writing time on the weekends even more so. It is a wonderful way for me to relax and get to do something fun... Not that pulling numbers isn't fun.
Right...I am excited about Legions which will be out in December, but I am also super psyched about a new series that will be appearing in the Winter that is in the works! I have been keeping it super top-secret but it is getting harder for me to stay zipped on it. As my friends know, I love to talk so it has been tough keeping it quiet. I will fill you in as we get closer.
Happy Tuesday everyone and be sure to get some good reading in!!! Although, tonight I think Jon and I need to play catch up with the DVR.

CONTEST
I wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has
emailed me such great stuff regarding Awakening. It was fun to write, and I am glad you enjoyed reading
it. I can tell you that Legions
was even more FUN to write and is filled with far more action. That's all I am going to say for now, but I
truly loved the adventure Legions took me on while writing.
That being said, I wanted to offer up a contest to you all. Since this is my debut novel, I am
still in need of some reviews. J I am hoping that you can share a review
on Amazon, Nook, and/or Good Reads regarding Awakening. If you could then send me a copy via
email of your review, I will enter you into the contest to receive a signed
copy of Legions in December! I
will randomly pull 3 entries from the emails sent to me. Please include your mailing address so
that I can send you a copy in December if you are chosen.
Thanks for all of your support and I will keep you posted on
updates regarding both Awakening and Legions (Due out Dec.1st)
One more thing!
Awakening is NOW available on Amazon in paperback.
Off to writing and sipping on my Pumpkin Spice Latte...

Awakening is officially on Kindle and Nook!
There are so many YA books out there and they are set in high school, which is awesome! I get it and love them just as much as the next person... BUT, there is life after high school! What about that in between age - fresh out of high school and in college or thinking about college or ditching the idea completely? That group of 17 - 22 year olds needs love too! That is where my books come in. We get to explore more mature subjects outside of opening up lockers and going to P.E. class and beat up some bad guys in between. Now, I still need my YA fix with high school settings for sure and I will always hunt them out but let's explore together the possibilities of what happens after HS!
Happy October!!!!!

Zhena's Gypsy Coconut tea and lots-o-writing!
Tonight I am plugging away as well, and am really enjoying the second adventure that Legions is bringing me. Hope the readers will like it too. I thought I would take a quick pause to blog a bit, grab a blanket, and make some of my favorite tea that I stumbled upon. It is called Zhena's Gypsy Coconut Chai Tea. If you like coconut it is AMAZING, especially iced. I got it for the first time at a Tullys when I was at a writers conference a few weeks ago. Delish...
I gave my stamp of approval on the book cover for Awakening. It is exactly like I hoped for and imagined. I felt sheepish giving the graphic designer my 'template' I had sketched. I cannot draw to save my life, except for a hand or finger. I learned how to do those two things in Junior High and that's as good as it got! Anyway, I hope to submit the cover on my blog and website this coming week, maybe Friday or so. I might show a little glimpse before then if I can't contain myself.
The thought that things are all coming together is almost more than I can handle.
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend everybody and keep on doing the things you love in life.

2 Bulldogs can make a person feel so great!
I am super excited about everything coming up. My first book will be released in the fall. I can't wait to see what the final cover looks like. The concepts were great.
It is such an interesting time in the publishing world and I am thrilled to be a part of it right now. There are a lot of great informational blogs out there on e-books and the world of e-publishing. I really enjoy reading the following blog http://writeitforward.wordpress.com/. He is a local author and has a lot of interesting articles on the world of e-publishing vs. NY publishing and shares his own experiences, which is nice.
Please check back for updates on the book cover, upcoming release dates, and contests!
Have a great night!

Welcome to my Blog!
My poor dude, Jon, had a horribly scary accident yesterday. He was on our shed tearing off old roofing and framing and one of the 2 x 4 lumber pieces with an old rusty nail came back at him and stabbed him in the arm. Unfortunately, the lumber was still attached to roof so with every little movement from the weight of the wood it dug in that much deeper! It was horrible.
Not only did he have a nail in his arm - he was stuck on top of the roof. I got 911 on the phone, and Jon was instructing me to get bolt cutters out of the tool shed and chop the nail from the 2x 4 so he could at least climb off the roof even though the nail would still be stuck in his arm. Of course, the 911 operator hears that tells me no matter what - Don't do that! I had my husband telling me in one ear to do one thing, and the operator telling me not to!
Needless to say, I got the bolt cutters. I was worried the pain would make him fall off the roof or something worse so I somehow climbed up the ladder and used the bolt cutters to free him from the 2 x 4. Yikes!!!! So scary! Even though the nail was still in his arm, it was like instant relief because the weight of the lumber wasn't pulling on his arm. I was able to get him off the roof and the medics came and were pretty impressed, I must say.
Jon was in pretty good spirits compared to when the lumber was pulling on his arm so he was joking about everything, like usual. The medics actually asked to take a pic on their phones because it looked so gnarly. I think that made Jon feel a little better. Of course, Jon had me take one too! They could not remove the nail either so we had to go to the emergency room, and they could not pull it out either so they had to cut it out. He wanted to save the nail of course!
Now the numbing agents have worn off so it is pretty painful, but I am so thankful that we were able to take care of it, and I am so thankful to the medics for their quick response. Needless to say, it added some excitement that we didn't need for our Saturday night!
