Moving forward and writing plans!

I admit I’ve been burning out pretty bad lately. Work was so stressful one week I wanted to cry. I’ve been needing a break and what people don’t tell you about having an office job is it can cause burn out pretty quickly. The stress took a toll on me to the point where I was considering a vacation. I mean getting the news I’ll be laid off sucks but ony because of the stable income. I cried about the news and drank some and thought hey now I can give myself a break that I’ve been sorely missing. So with the way I was struggling a break is needed I will spend my days applying to places a few hours and then spending the rest of it writing books, articles, streams and filming Youtube videos for both my channels. I did regularly take vacations twice a year and managed to find ways to not be overwhelmed. But I’m also using this time to see what I can really do if I try harder with books and streams. Books have always been a way of relieving stress. Reading to escape in a book calmed me down as well as writing and being in my book worlds. My new project is writing about the office worker by day and she hunts ghosts and finds out she needs to do something more then just be an average office worker. I’m going to also see how fast I can write a novel and see if I can do alot in the time I have. After Feb 9th no day job holding me back from writing more on my books and articles. It was so tiring being there I ws exhausted and couldn’t write. The stress was affecting me in every way to the point where I didn’t want to write after work. But now it is different nothing will stop me from going after my goals! I’ll take you along for the ride too this is an exciting chapter!

Where to go from here? I got laid off…

I got bad news yesterday my job will be elimitating my position and my last day is Feb 9th. It sucks and I was so upset yesterday people arguing with me didn’t help. I wound up drinking some to deal with the bs and I was so upset it wasn’t even funny. I’ve written 20+ books but haven’t sold enough to quit my day job. This is the second time I’ve been laid off and it sucks since now I’ll be revamping my resume and applying to other places. It also means more articles will be written and more time to work on my books. I plan on even cleaning my place, filming Youtube videos and even more streams. It is a blow knowing they let me go without me having another job. But i’ll be using this time to write more books, articles and film more Youtube videos and stream on Twitch.
I just moved so it came at such a shit timing. But I hated getting up early and dealing some of the people there made me want to scream I was stressed beyond belief at the job. This is such a hard time and not alot of people understand either. Yes, I know it means looking for another job I’m not stupid. People telling me what to do is one of my pet peeves. It just shows how tired I am of doing a resume, finding a job, and being let go or fired and working for others suck so I’ll still be working on my side hustle on the side. I’ve also noticed people will only comment to criticize when it is easier to just scroll on. Not all of us need a lecture on what things are and since this is my page i’m not going back and forth wasting my energy anymore on people who argue or criticze either. Also, just goes to show people aren’t prepared to lose a job either. And it will make me feel awful enough. I am pretty sure it is burnout and that is the worst. I do get a break which is nice I’ll try to post a few articles a day since I do want to write books and articles full time. Means I gotta take what people say with a grain of salt too. Also, it gives me a new perspective about what I want in a job, and one of the things I’ll be doing is tweaking my resume. I’ve been told to apply to other insurance places but I’m tired of day jobs. The whole working for others is tiring and it is a never ending loop. I know it will take a while so in the meantime I can focus on my books, articles, and videos. Expect more content!

How do I get out of writers block?

Writer’s block can be a frustrating experience, but there are several strategies you can try to overcome it. It happens to me at times and then I can get unstuck in the shower or listening to music. Heck sometimes when I watch movies and tv shows it helps get me out of it.
Here are some suggestions to break it:
Take a Break:
Sometimes, stepping away from your work for a little while can help. Go for a walk, do something different, or engage in a different creative activity. This can help refresh your mind and break the mental block. It can help to take a break and maybe read a book or 2.
Change Your Environment:
A change in your surroundings can stimulate creativity. If possible, work in a different location or simply rearrange your workspace. A new environment might inspire fresh ideas. Changing your surroundings can help!
Free writing:
Set aside a specific amount of time (e.g., 10–15 minutes) to write without any particular goal or structure. Just let your thoughts flow onto the paper or screen. This can help to loosen up your mind and get the creative juices flowing. Heck when I get bored at work I’ll work on my project.
Outline or Mind Map:
Create an outline or a mind map of your ideas. This can provide a visual representation of your thoughts and help you see connections between different elements of your writing. I thought of my plot in the shower and wrote it down so now I know where I am going in the book.
Talk About Your Ideas:
Discuss your ideas with a friend, colleague, or writing group. Sometimes, verbalizing your thoughts can help clarify them and uncover new perspectives. This helps I can talk to my editor and boyfriend and they help me figure stuff out.
Set Realistic Goals:
Break down your writing into smaller, manageable tasks. Set realistic goals for yourself, such as writing a certain number of words or completing a specific section. Achieving these smaller goals can build momentum. A chapater at a time is easier to focus on or specific plot points.
Read for Inspiration:
Read books, articles, or pieces of writing that inspire you. Exposure to different writing styles and ideas can trigger your creativity. Tv, shows, music, movies and video games help.
Try a Different Medium:
If you’re stuck with writing on a computer, try writing with pen and paper. Alternatively, experiment with different mediums like drawing or brainstorming on a whiteboard to express your ideas. I write with pen then type it up.
Eliminate Distractions:
Identify and eliminate any distractions in your environment. Turn off social media notifications, close unnecessary tabs, and create a focused space for writing.
Accept Imperfection:
Remember that your first draft doesn’t have to be perfect. Give yourself permission to write poorly initially, with the understanding that you can always revise and refine later.
Seek Feedback:
If you’re comfortable, share your work with someone you trust for feedback. Sometimes an outside perspective can provide valuable insights and suggestions.
Set a Routine:
Establish a consistent writing routine. Having a dedicated time and place for writing can signal to your brain that it’s time to be creative.
Remember that writer’s block is a common challenge, and different strategies work for different people. Experiment with these suggestions to find what works best for you.

Book Reviews can be good and bad!

After writing 20+ books I can say now there are good and bad reviews also it is on the books I wrote in college so it made me grow with each book and I’ve got a better editor time to have some fun with the good and bad!
The bad use to bother me but now it is laughable especially on Goodreads:
The number of times that ‘working in retail’ was mentioned, the book would be at least a quarter shorter.
But the spelling and grammar are the things that let this book down badly. It did detract from the overall reading experience, but don’t write this author off, just yet.
Even the conversations are horrible. Ohmygosh WHY AM I READING THIS BOOK. So uhm, I just started reading this book. and a few pages in and my head hurts. The writing is bad. The sentences were awful and there was a lot of unnecessary cursing going around. This is not a good first impression. I even have the urge to just drop this book and not read it ever again.
It was even more hilarious when someone pointed out: It felt to me like it had been written by a teenager or young adult writing a story for a school assignment, maybe this appeals to younger readers but not older readers in my point of view. Like duh it was made for young adults not older ones they were in high school!
Please save yourself the near $10 this would-be author wants to charge you for this literary disaster and read something else. Lol I’ve written 20 since I’m alot better now just watch!
Also someone complained my series was a copypasta when it was a formula but then again they would know that if they were a real writer. People will be petty at times had someone one star my entire backlist just because I blocked her on twitter it is a joke.
The Good: The first thing I would like about this is how she overcome her breakup totally relatable words written in this book and I would recommend people who like vampire stories must read this I I personally like it so much.
I loved this one about Being A Vampire in Retail Sucks: I enjoyed reading this book, the author hooked from the first page. It has a Laurel K Hamilton feel but clean. I definitely recommend it!
I write for the people who love my work and I’m not going to stop just because someone didn’t like it. Here are some quotes over dealing with bad book reviews it helped me cope and grow a thicker skin!
“Your book is not for everyone, and that’s okay. Focus on the readers who appreciate your work.”
“Bad reviews can’t dim the light of a well-written story.”
“Every book has its audience. Don’t let a few negative opinions overshadow the positive impact you’ve had on others.”
“Remember, even the most celebrated authors have received bad reviews. It’s part of the journey.”
“Not every reader will connect with your story, and that’s normal. Keep writing for the ones who do.”
“A negative review is just one person’s perspective. It doesn’t define the worth of your book.”
“Focus on the readers who love your work rather than dwelling on those who don’t.”
“Criticism is the price of ambition. Keep reaching for the stars, and don’t be afraid of the occasional fall.”
“Every book is a conversation. Not everyone will agree, and that’s what makes literature diverse and interesting.”
“A bad review is not the end of your story; it’s just one chapter. Keep writing.”

“Bad reviews are speed bumps, not roadblocks. Keep moving forward.”
“Constructive criticism can be a stepping stone to improvement, but don’t let negativity shatter your confidence.”
“Great stories evoke strong emotions. Don’t be disheartened by those who miss the beauty in your words.”
“Remember why you started writing in the first place. Let passion and purpose guide you, not criticism.”
“A book is a piece of your soul in print. Not everyone will understand its depth, and that’s perfectly fine.”
“The beauty of literature lies in its subjectivity. What one person dislikes, another may cherish.”
“Your story is a gift to the world. Don’t let one negative review take away from the joy of sharing it.”
“Bad reviews are like rain; they come and go. Your story, like the sun, remains constant.”
“Not everyone will appreciate your style, and that’s what makes the literary world diverse and rich.”
“If you’re not receiving criticism, you’re probably not pushing boundaries. Keep challenging yourself.”
“Authors are not defined by their critics but by their ability to rise above them.”
“Your story matters, and the impact it has on readers is more significant than any single review.”
“A bad review is just a chapter in the book of your writing career. Turn the page and keep going.”
“Don’t let a few negative words overshadow the countless positive experiences your book has created.”
“Writers are resilient. Use criticism as fuel to become a better storyteller.”
“Not everyone will appreciate your masterpiece, and that’s what makes it uniquely yours.”
“The mark of a true artist is the ability to persist in the face of criticism. Keep creating.”
“A book is a journey, and not every traveler will enjoy the scenery. Focus on the ones who do.”
“You can’t control how others perceive your work, but you can control your dedication to your craft.”
“A negative review is a small part of your story. Your journey as a writer is much grander.”
“Remember, it’s not about the reviews; it’s about the connection your words create with readers.”
“Authors are like stars; they shine brightest in the darkest of skies. Embrace the light within you.”
“Let the power of your narrative drown out the noise of criticism.”
“Writing is an art, and not everyone will appreciate your masterpiece. Create for those who do.”
“Don’t let the shadows of bad reviews dim the brilliance of your storytelling.”
“A book is a conversation between the author and the reader. Not every conversation is smooth, but each one is meaningful.”
“A negative review is a reminder that your book has stirred emotions, and that’s a powerful achievement.”
“Criticism is part of the writing journey. Let it be a guide, not a hindrance.”
“The strength of your story is not in its reviews but in the impact it has on the hearts of readers.”
“Focus on the joy of creating rather than the fear of criticism. Your passion will shine through.”
“Don’t let the fear of judgment silence your voice. Keep telling your story.”
“Every negative review is an opportunity to grow and refine your craft. Embrace the lessons it offers.”
“A bad review is a temporary setback, not a permanent defeat. Keep writing, keep growing.”
“Your book is a reflection of your soul. Not everyone will understand its depth, and that’s perfectly fine.”
“In the grand tapestry of literature, a bad review is but a small thread. Your story weaves a much larger narrative.”
What used to make me sick now makes me laugh! Especially since my books will be way better with each one I write.

Quotes I love about the writing process! And about my next book!

I was bored one day and not really motivated since the writing process can be hard so in hard times I picked some I use to help keep me going! I’ve also decided to do an authore diaries for my Medium blog since it would be cool to write about the writing process. I came up with the office stuff since it is something I have experience with and some situations are annoying. I also loved ghosts too. Not to mention I planned it one way and it turned into something else. I also planned at first to have it called Ghost Avengers but thought of a better name Ghost Reapers since they take souls to bring the dead to life. This book means a lot and I can’t wait to show people it will also have office rants, evil exes and evil bitches getting what they deserve! Like kill Bill only she takes souls and feeds a sorcerer to stop demons from hurting other Ghost Talkers.

2024 Goals!

2024 is definitely going to be better. I’m adjusting better to the recent move and slowly getting back into a writing habit! I plan on writing my books for both my name and my pen name Crystal Nightshade. My lighter paranormal romances and I’m going to try Academy and reverse harem books using my name Jessica Samuels. The Crystal Nightshade will be for horrors, thrillers and any really dark books. I plan on trying to write regularly every week and I want to write more articles on Medium, Ko‑fi and even film more Youtube reactions and fun videos with cozy games and chaos for my gaming channel. Once I get my new gaming desktop I’ll be posting the specs and getting it ready to do streams on Tiktok and Twitch! I also put all my books on my Ko‑fi shop and discord and plan to do an author diaries for Ko‑fi members!

2024 goals and looking back on 2023!

And another year down cheers to a new one! This year was interesting and it had it’s ups and downs! I saw my boyfriend for the first time in person in March and visited a new state. My discord got hacked and I learned to never click links and it also showed me who was here and who wasn’t! I released one book and took down others after someone went after my books because I blocked them since they were giving me shit advice. Then I released a new name and book they found it but I don’t care. I also lost people I thought were friends but gained new ones after the discord hack. I have a new server and people who are actually there for me. I published on Medium more this year and decided what I really wanted to do. I even saved up for a gaming desktop which is being built now due to my laptop having issues with streaming. I’ve discovered how fun it is posting on tiktok and spent alot of the year gearing up for the move. I packed alot in September and August and worked alot during the week. Weekeneds were mainly packing then I took a plane ride on October 24th and moved to Kansas to be with my long distance boyfriend. It was stressful and then after I finally got my stuff now comes making it neat and adjusting to a new timezone and state.
2024 plans!
Goal is to get to 5k on tiktok eventually!
Publish 7 books for Crystal Nightshade.
Leave negative people behind and don’t reply to idiots in the past.
1k on Twitch!
3k on both my Youtube channels.
Be more active on Ko-fi and post my books there.
Write more Medium articles.
Blog about life more and do more ramen and food videos and more booze reviews!
Collab with friends!
VR streams and more Twitch streams after I get my gaming desktop!
Get a good sleep schedule and travel to more places!
I hope 2024 is better and it will be since I live with my boyfriend in our own place!

My Writing Routine, how to establish one and the routine of famous people!

Writing a book is not for everyone after writing 20+ books you kinda establish a routine when the mood strikes. Lately, I’ve been so tired and adjusting I have written as much but this week and next I can definitely get my writing routine back! I am weird with it since I hand write my books then type. I also outline in a separate journal. I also have a list of books and ideas to write. Another thing that helps me get inspired is tv shows and movies and I read books in the genre I’d like to write.
Heck my routine is wake up, get a red bull, read over the project, catch up on typing and write till I am tired sometimes with a drink in hand, and sometimes with music. I want to do this full time and under my pen name. It is nice getting a fresh start even got the socials for the pen name of course only certain people know. It is nice watching it all grow and I can’t wait to see what is in store. I’ve even put all my books on my Ko-fi shop and do memberships. The hard part isn’t the writing itself it is the marketing and finding a tribe I will one day. Writing is a marathon not a sprint I need to write more books and publish and get my name out there in order to succeed!
How do I establish a writing routine?
Establishing a writing routine is a personal process, and what works for one person may not work for another. However, here are some general steps you can take to establish a writing routine:
Set Clear Goals:Define your writing goals. Whether it’s a daily word count, a set amount of time spent writing, or completing a specific task, having clear goals gives you something to work towards. I do a few pages or more if I’m inspired!
Identify Your Most Productive Time: Figure out when you are most alert and creative during the day. Some people are morning writers, while others are night owls. Schedule your writing sessions during your peak productivity times. I write after work and weekends. Sometimes during work if it is boring!
Create a Dedicated Writing Space: Designate a specific place for writing. It could be a corner of a room, a desk, or even a particular coffee shop. Having a consistent space helps signal to your brain that it’s time to focus on writing. I have a writing desk and my bed sometimes!
Eliminate Distractions: Minimize distractions during your writing time. Turn off social media notifications, silence your phone, and create a quiet environment. Consider using productivity tools or apps to help you stay focused.
Start Small: If you’re new to establishing a writing routine, start with small, achievable goals. It could be writing for 15 or 30 minutes a day. As you build consistency, you can gradually increase the time or word count.
Be Consistent: Consistency is key to forming a routine. Aim to write at the same time and place every day, or on specific days of the week. The more consistent you are, the more likely your routine will become a habit.
Experiment and Adjust: Be willing to experiment with your routine. If your initial plan isn’t working, try adjusting the time, location, or other factors. It may take some trial and error to find what works best for you.
Reward Yourself: Celebrate your achievements, whether it’s reaching a daily word count or completing a chapter. Positive reinforcement can help reinforce the habit and make writing a more enjoyable experience.
Find Accountability: Share your writing goals with a friend, writing group, or accountability partner. Knowing that someone else is aware of your goals can provide motivation and encouragement.
Prioritize Self-Care: Ensure you take care of your physical and mental well-being. A healthy lifestyle contributes to better focus and creativity. Get enough sleep, exercise regularly, and take breaks when needed.
Remember that building a writing routine takes time and effort. Be patient with yourself, stay adaptable, and don’t be afraid to make adjustments as needed. The key is to find a routine that aligns with your preferences and allows you to consistently engage with your writing practice.
This is also interesting here are some famous writers writing routines!
Ernest Hemingway: Hemingway was known for his disciplined routine. He would write in the morning, starting early, and continue until he reached a specific word count. He believed in stopping when he knew what would happen next, so he could pick up easily the next day.
Stephen King: King is known for his prolific output and dedication to daily writing. He sets a goal of writing 2,000 words per day and sticks to a routine of writing in the morning. He emphasizes the importance of consistency and perseverance.
Agatha Christie: Christie had a disciplined routine and set a goal for herself to write 1,000 words per day. She preferred to write in the morning and would continue until she reached her daily word count.
Overall, writing is definitely something I’ll do the rest of my life and my goal is a Medium article everyday to get back into the swing of things!

I like it since it offers a place for donations and I even include membership tiers!

I haven’t earned anything yet since I haven’t been pushing it out but I plan on being more active thre and posting to build a following!

Chapter 1 of The Witch of Salem!

Evangelina Christine sat in her tiny apartment overlooking the mighty river. She had been here for the past two hours unmoving. Her life had taken a path that she didn’t see coming.
As a child her grandmother told her that she would one day find herself at a crossroads. Evangelina wondered if this was indeed that crossroads. She was confused and wanted to talk to someone who could help guide her through it.
Shaking herself out of her daze Evangelina picked up the taro cards and started shuffling them. Cutting the cards in half Evangelina was blinded by a bright light. She glared into the light mesmerized by its beauty.
Once entranced by the light Evangelina started to see a vision. Her grandmother was there with a full smile on her face. Evangelina squinted against light recognizing her grandmother.
As confused as Evangelina was her grandmother walked up to her and took a seat. The light faded away and Evangelina was facing her dead grandmother in her kitchen. She reached across the table and took her hand.
“How can this be?” Evangelina asked.
“Ask and you shall receive my child. Now, tell Nan what’s ailing you.” Her grandmother replied.
“I’m at a crossroads, is this what you were warning me about as a child?” Evangelina asked.
“It could be, what are you confused about.” Her grandmother asked.
“I’ve always wanted to live in the city, and now I don’t find it to be my home.” Evangelina replied.
“That’s because it’s not your home. This is just a place to keep you warm at night. Your home is back where you came from.” Her Grandmother explained.
“I worked really hard to get out of that place, and build this life. How can I not be happy in it?” Evangelina asked.
“Darling girl, this place is just that a place. You wanted to see it and experience it, and now that you have you yearn for home. Why don’t you take a trip back to the place you’re from and see if that settles your curiosity.” Her Grandmother suggested.
“Do you really think the dark forest is the best place to be during this time?” Evangelina asked.
“Are you referring to the upset and rising of the coven?” Her Grandmother asked.
“I am very worried about it.” Evangelina replied.
“Why?” Her Grandmother asked.
“Our family isn’t in charge of the coven anymore. I’ve heard of harsh punishments and wrongful spells being handed down.” Evangelina replied.
“Then wouldn’t you be the best one to challenge those wrongs?” Her Grandmother asked.
“I left the coven, and our home. Do you think they’ll see me as a traitor and banish me, or do some kind of shifting spell?” Evangelina asked.
“Shifting spell?” Her Grandmother asked raising an eyebrow.
“I’ve heard they’ve cast spells turning members into shapeshifters, like frogs, rats, and roaches.” Evangelina replied.
“You know how to protect yourself Evangelina, so why be scared of someone who can’t touch your spirit?” Her Grandmother asked.
“The grand coven mother doesn’t ask for permission before she reigns down her punishment. How can one protect themselves from that?” Evangelina asked.
“Have you forgotten who you are?” Her Grandmother asked.
“No, but I also know who I’m not. She’s now the mother of us all, and none of us can use the magic without her permission.” Evangelina replied.
“You have magic within, and that’s the kind that can’t be learned from a book. Here take my left hand and I’ll take you deep into the past; I believe it’s time for you to see the truth.” Her Grandmother said, extending her hand.
Evangelina took her Grandmother’s hand and the bright light flashed before her again. They were only in the light for a few minutes before a new scene flashed before them again. Her Grandmother stood straight as the view changed from the bright light to a full coven circle.
“Mother Christine.” Each of the women said, as the elder walked through the two straight lines of women.
Evangelina walked through the lines behind her grandmother as each of the women bowed to her grandmother. When they got to the middle of the two lines Mother Christine stopped and turned slowly to the right. A woman stood there with her eyes cast downward, and she looked almost afraid to look at the older woman.
“Look up at me child.” Mother Christine commanded.
The girl looked up into her eyes with a defiance that was noted in the elder woman’s expression. Mother Christine was facing the girl, and the girl was holding her chin up waiting for her to say something. Mother Christine shook her head at the girl and turned to face her original direction.
Evangelina watched as the girl scowled at her grandmother. She got closer to her and recognized the woman, but couldn’t quite remember where she’d seen her. She looked young standing there challenging the head of the coven, and as if she were ready to pounce.
Mother Christine stepped up on the podium and turned to the rest of the coven. Evangelina stood at the bottom of the podium and gazed upon her grandmother. Mother Christine spread her arms open wide to address everyone in attendance.
“This is a special night for all of us. We’ve got the future meeting the past in the most peculiar way. Although this won’t change the events that are to become us, we’ve all got a chance to learn from it.” Mother Christine announced.
“Is this why you’ve brought a stranger amongst us?” The previous woman who glared at Mother Christine asked.
“Natalia Grace O’Mally, you my dear will one day be a great asset to this coven. However, you have to get your ego in check, or you’ll fall harder than you’ve fallen. Don’t challenge the hand that teaches you.” Mother Christine replied, giving her a side eye.
“I believe you Mother Christine, but I also feel as if I’m meant to lead not follow.” Natalia said.
“You’ll lead when you’ve gone through the basics, as of right now it’s all fundamentals.” Mother Christine replied.
“I know the fundamentals; I’ve been taught since I was a child.” Natalia said.
“Basics my child, basics. Slow down and remember that your haste could injure us all.” Mother Christine replied.
“More like save us all.” Natalia replied under her breath.
Evangelina realized that she was talking to and looking at the same woman who had taken over the coven her family started. She could see that the woman was making hasty decisions, and they weren’t the good kind. Now she needed to figure out how to bring the woman down, instead of helping her gain the access.
“One day in the future one of our own will betray us all. When that day comes evil will prevail and we’ll all be taken down. You’ll know these days as the Salem Witch trials, while the rest of the world will watch as we hang, and burned at the stake. One of us will be the cause of it as she names us one by one. Some of us will be able to escape to the dark forest, and others will watch with a painful ache. At that time those of us who are able to escape will rebuild, and others will challenge us. Keep your wits about you ladies, and your homes safe.” Mother Christine announced.
The ladies of the coven started to whisper amongst themselves. The speculation of it all caused an upset in amongst the covens. They all knew at that moment that they couldn’t trust each other, but they also wanted to know who it was that would betray them.
