Readers Write: Review of Ann Aguirre's Conclave (& Reader's Choice C*ntest)
Today for “Readers Write,” I’m welcoming guest reviewer Carien , who’s sharing a review of Enclave, first in Ann Aguirre's Razorland YA series, which was released in 2011. I've heard awesome things about this series, and Enclave is waiting patiently on my virtual TBR pile, already purchased.
Read on for Carien’s review and a chance to win this book or your choice of another of author Ann Aguirre's books.

Meet Chago, Wyck and Luther--Traci Douglass and her Scion Warriors
First a quick note: My alter ego has a hop contest going on today: check it out at
www.susannahsandlin.com
.
Today, help me welcome author Traci Douglass, who is here to talk about her most recent release, Seal of Destiny, the first book in a new Seven Seals series, published by Crimson Romance. (And we all love apocalyptic stories, right? Right!) Traci writes paranormal/urban fantasy and contemporary romances with sizzling alpha male heroes full of dark humor; smart, independent heroines who a...

Shop Talk: Settings in Speculative Fiction
Welcome to Shop Talk! If you're new to the blog, "Shop Talk" is where we chat about trends in fiction or things we do or don't like in the fiction we read. I have to admit, after reading a blurb for an upcoming book on a horse-shifter, I was tempted to bring up the subject of odd shifters again. But we'll save that for another day! As always, commenting in a Shop Talk discussion enters you for a $10 Amazon gift card (or equivalently-priced book from Book Depository--BD really needs to offer G...

Rainy Days and Deadlines and Books to W*n
Cue cheesy Carpenters Music and substitute "deadlines" for "Mondays."
Okay, got that out of my system, LOL. Actually, I don't have the blues at all, but I am in the midst of a storm of deadlines both in the book world and the day-job world. So bear with me. Today, I'm providing some links to OTHER places you can find me today, with chances to win books, of course. If you comment on one of those sites to win one of my books and already have them, you can also choose a mystery book of your prefe...

New Releases April 13--19 and Readers Choice C*ntest
Only ten new releases on the schedule this week! If you are a fan of Hilary Duff, then you will be excited by the release of the conclusion of her Elixir series. My choice on this week's tiny little list would be London Falling. Enjoy the lull... late April and early May will be a virtual bookmageddon. A great time to strain your book budget, add to your TBR pile and plan your summer reading.
Now….What do you want to read? As always, leave a comment telling m...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

Behind the Scenes with Elysian Fields...and Weekly W*nners
Today, I'm continuing my trip through the Style Sheet for Elysian Fields, book three of the Sentinels of New Orleans series. And read on to the end for prize info!
So, here's how the Style Sheet works. In the process of getting a book actally published, authors go through a number of stages. Copyedits are when an editor with an eagle-eye for detail has combed through the manuscript, made grammatical and house-style changes, asked questions, or made notes when something needs clarifying. They a...

Drive-By Review & W*n Ghost Planet by Sharon Lynn Fisher
First off, today offers another chance to comment to win the admittedly-used-but-perfectly-good Kindle Fire, whose winner I will announce on Sunday. You can get an entry by commenting at author

Almost Time for RT: What to Look For
In about two weeks, I'll be headed to the
RT Booklovers Convention
, May 1-5 in Kansas City at the Sheraton Crown Center. This convention is HUGE, and it will be both my first RT and my first big mega-conference, so I'm filled with some strange combination of excitement, fear, and dread of blisters on my feet :-)If you've been to RT before, got any tips on things to do or look for?
I'll be blogging from RT this year, with prizes and goodies as I find them. If you're going to be there, here are...

Need a Free Kindle, Anyone? A Free Plotting Class? A Book?
Today, instead of Shop Talk, I'm popping up all over the place, so how about some extra chances to win my recently retired Kindle Fire? If you missed the earlier post, I recently replaced my first-generation Fire with a new Fire HD--the other one is about 14 months old and works perfectly. Yeah, I just wanted a new toy.
The contest to win (yes, it's international) runs through Saturday. You get one entry per comment when you visit these websites:

It's Dragon Time! Robin Hobb G*veaway--Full Set of Rain Wild Chronicles
First, apologies in advance for going a little AWOL this week. I have some insane deadlines finishing copyedits on Elysian Fields, writing the seventh episode of Storm Force, and--oh yeah, that day job gig. So I'll be doing something this week I don't much like, which is spotlighting books for giveaway rather than reviewing them. Bear with me, and I hope things will get back to normal before long. (And I will have some other special giveaways and guest posts during the week.)
Today, I do have...
