New Releases April 27—May 3 and Readers Choice C*ntest

It's the end of the month, and you know what that means...a big week of releases! There are some good ones coming out this week, too, especially in the realm of Paranormal Romance.
Now….What do you want to read? As always, leave a comment telling me the book you’d most like to win, and maybe random.org will make your wishes come true. Your choice of print or digital unless otherwise stated. International? Of course! As long as Book Depository delivers to your country, please...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

On the Road Again

Where in the world is Carmen...oh, wait. That's a different show.

I'm wrapping up final day-job trauma and heading on the road to Kansas City to RT. So the blog will be spotty for the next week or so. I'll be posting a Reader's Choice on Monday as usual, and will have a guest blog and giveaway on Tuesday. I hope to post from RT Booklovers Convention next week with photos and perhaps a surprise or two but it might be at odd times.

So, thanks to everyone who hopped around and commented on the gue...

Today's one of those days when the universe creates a big ole traffic jam! So instead of blogging here, I'd like to beg, um, I mean invite you to join me in a wild ride around the blogosphere today. I'm giving away STUFF, plus each comment on one of these sites today will enter you for a $10 Amazon (or other etailer) gift card. So that would be five possible entries apiece.

In no particular order...

Shop Talk: Gender-Bias in Book Reviews

Just time for a quickie today, which doesn't seem to be fair to talk about something as important as gender inequity in science fiction and fantasy.

But here's an interesting article from I09, and I have to say it doesn't surprise me. I subscribe to some of the major periodicals covering SFF and there is some gender bias and a LOT of genre bias as to what gets reviewed. If one writes science fiction and traditional fantasy, and one is female, one might get reviewed. If one writes urban fantasy...

Readers Write: Review of Kate Serine’s Red (& Reader's Choice C*ntest)

First, a little housekeeping. I'm in a couple of spots today, so stop by if you get a chance. All comments this week at the various sites will be put in a drawing for a $10 Amazon (or Barnes and Noble or Book Depository) give card or book order.  First, I'm doing an interview at author  Pembroke Sinclair's blog , talking about the Penton Legacy. And what I learned was REALLY the oldest thing in my fridge--and my ingredients for the perfect cocktail sauce. Just made some l...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

New Releases April 20—26 and Readers Choice C*ntest

First, check out my discussion of " alpha males, beta males, and vampires " today at author Kay Dee Royal's blog. Comments on this week's guest blog posts (see links here) will be entered for a $10 Amazon gift card (or whatever retailer you prefer)!

But for this site, it's time for our weekly overview of new releases and, like is often the case with the third week of the month, the release list is heavy on YA, but still has some interesting titles. I have to admit, I read so much YA...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

Behind the Scenes with Elysian Fields: The Letter D (& Weekly W*nners)

Today, I'm continuing my trip through the Style Sheet for Elysian Fields, book three of the Sentinels of New Orleans series. And read on to the end for prize info!

So, here's how the Style Sheet works. In the process of getting a book actally published, authors go through a number of stages. Copyedits are when an editor with an eagle-eye for detail has combed through the manuscript, made grammatical and house-style changes, asked questions, or made notes when something needs clarifying. They a...

How That Beer Got in my Fridge Last Year

Happy Saturday! I'm up to my neck in Episode Seven of STORM FORCE, and let's just say it's living up to the title of the book.

But I do have a rare Saturday gig going today.

I'm doing an interview about Storm Force today with author Pembroke  Sinclair, answering burning questions like "What's the oldest thing in your fridge?"

Saturday posts tend to get kind of lost, but hop on over if you get a chance!

And tomorrow, I'll be back with another Behind the Scenes look at Elysian Fields (along wi...
