New Releases April 6—12 and Readers Choice C*ntest

If you are like me, then your book budget and your TBR pile could use a break after the enormous number of new releases last week.  Thankfully, the number of new releases this week is much smaller.  Still, there are some interesting choices.  Enjoy the light week because there are certainly more to come in mid and late April. Stay tuned tomorrow for a HUGE Robin Hobb giveaway!
Now….What do you want to read? As always, leave a comment telling me the book you’d most l...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

Behind the Scenes with Elysian Fields (and Weekly W*nners)

Today, I'm continuing my trip through the Style Sheet for Elysian Fields, book three of the Sentinels of New Orleans series. (Oh, and by the way, if you missed my fun little interview on Blog Talk Radio Friday night, you can hear it HERE, and if you're interested in more entries for the Kindle Fire I'm giving away at my sister site, you can find it HERE. The Sentinels series is being featured today at the Place of Reads Book Blog --stop by and say hello!)

So, here's how the Style Sheet works. I...

Up For Grabs: One Lightly Used Kindle Fire

Yep, I’ve upgraded again. My spiffy new Kindle 8.9-inch HD arrived yesterday, and I swear it was just for work purposes—you know, so I could use a Bluetooth keyboard and have a mini-computer when I travel. Really. Had nothing to do with how much prettier my copies of National Geographic would look. *checks mirror to see if nose is growing*
So, now I have this extra first-generation Kindle Fire sitting around, unloved and rejected and in need of a good home.

Here’s the catch. It’s n...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

New Releases March 29-April 4 and Reader Choice C*ntest

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.  The number of new releases this week is sure to add a ton to everyone’s TBR pile, not to mention subtracting a ton from our bank accounts.  An April shower?  No, more accurately, a FLOOD of new releases for you to enjoy.

First, a few housekeeping notes.

There's a new blog for you to check out! I'm on a new group blog that launches today called PARANORMAL UNBOUND , where I'm joining forces with authors Erica Hayes, Lexi George, Elisabeth S...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

Behind the Scenes: Elysian Fields (and Weekly W*nners)

Instead of Scene-Snippet Sunday, I thought I'd start a series of "Behind the Scenes" Sundays for Elysian Fields. The idea actually came from the copyedits I got for the manuscript on Friday.

In the process of getting the book actually published, authors go through a number of stages. Copyedits are when an editor with an eagle-eye for detail has combed through the manuscript, made grammatical and house-style changes, asked questions, or made notes when something needs clarifying. Then it comes...

Amazon, Goodreads, and Nora Roberts

This is sort of like a special edition of Shop Talk, the Wednesday feature where we chat about bookish stuff. The Twitterverse and the author email loops were abuzz yesterday with the news that Amazon has purchased the monolithic book website Goodreads.

Most authors seem to think this is a Bad Thing. I honestly don't know. I don't have the Anti-Amazon gene a lot of people have. Probably because I live in a small town and if not for Amazon, I'd be reading a lot of Nora Roberts books from Walmar...

Drive-By Review & G*veaway: Flirting Under a Full Moon by Ashlyn Chase

Welcome to the Preternatura “Drive-By Reviews.” It’s my way of passing along books in my TBR Pile on Steroids to you. I read the first 50 or so pages of a book (might be new, might be not-so-new), tell you what I like or didn’t like, and give it a grade of A (wish I had time to finish it, and resent that I have so little reading time these days); B (I’m not head-over-heels but I am interested enough to keep going); or C (I’d keep reading but there are some red flags for me). If it’s a DNF, I...
