Some Up and Coming Things
Thanks for everyone who participated in yesterday's Shop Talk--interesting discussion!
I hope to have a new drive-by review tomorrow, but for today, here's just an overview of some things coming up on the blog and elsewhere....
June 24! That week will be devoted to a free read in five parts of Jackson Square, a Jean Lafitte novelette set in the Sentinels world. It will be up five days only as a freebie, and then it will be available as a (very inexpensive--less than $2) digital download, along...

Shop Talk: 'Accidental Romance' and RIVER ROAD
I had another topic planned for today, but instead I wanted to talk about reader expectations, reader interpretation, and "accidental romance."
I wonder if, as readers, we're hard-wired to look for romance in our stories, and perhaps to find them in places where the author never intended. If you read a book with a female protagonist and an attractive male character, do you automatically assume there's a potential for romance?
Because that, I realize, bothers me. It's sort of like buying into th...

Forever and Ever, Amen, with Liv Rancourt and C*ntest
Today, I am excited to welcome author Liv Rancourt to Preternatura. Liv is here to talk about her latest release, Forever and Ever, Amen, which was published in January by Crimson Romance. And she's going to talk about one of my favorite things, which is MUSIC. In fact, the title of the book is a big favorite of mine when I'm in country-music mood, and she has a great playlist with stories behind it (and you can listen to the playlist!). Read on, and you can also win a copy of Forever a...

A Jean Lafitte Preview, Brief History Lesson, and Weekly W*nners
Happy Sunday, and holy cow, is it June already? How did that happen?
Today, I'd like to offer up a brief, biased history of the Battle of New Orleans, which will lay the groundwork for a sneak peek at the June 24 release of my Jean Lafitte novelette "Jackson, Square." My plan is to run the story over the course of a week here on the blog, then release it as a very inexpensive download for Kindle, including some bonus material.
