Rejoice… the Good Weather Time in Kuwait is Here!

Yesterday morning as I stepped out of the house on my way to work I was greeted by the most amazing cool breeze ever teasing my face and tingling my senses.

The good weather time in Kuwait is BACK! I couldn't relax until we sat outside in Starbucks sipping frappucinos and chatting lazily while the nice breeze blowed in out way and everyone around us order frappucinos and sipping them outdoors happily. The weather is just too good to be cooped up inside and pass on.

From now on the queues will begin on the outdoors tables. This is the best time to be in Kuwait, when the weather is at its best and sitting outside is the best option. I cannot wait for another breakfast outdoors

Did you make the best of yesterday's weather? Whats your favorite spot for hanging out outdoors in the good weather of Kuwait?

The old canon lenses adapter that got me newish lenses

If you've been following my blog for a long time you might remember my post about my father's A-1 Canon from the 80′s and the lenses he had (post). Anyways, when I bought my Macro lens and showed it to my father -who grilled me while teaching me how to shoot something with it- he asked me why I bought a lens he already owned and used before?

That got me thinking that there must be a way for his old 80′s lenses to be mounted on my Eos camera! Therefore I went online and on Amazon I found an adapter for his lenses which I've bought immediately alongside, a7em, a new Canon lens for myself :p

The new Canon lens I bought is a very cheap 30 KD only 50mm lens. Its very light and perfect for closeups with an extra blurry background focus thing. When I showed it to my father he said something I didn't understand about the lens's depth of field. Oh well I know I love how light it is and how the pictures turn out. Here is the adapter I found online…

Did it work? IT DID! I attached it to the old lenses from one end then attached the lenses to my EOS and they totally worked! One of those lenses is my father's Tele Macro which can shoot from far away with amazing AMAZING details!

This lens has not been used in over 20 years yet it worked amazingly fine! All the adjustments are done manually which I enjoy frankly because I can do them while I point my camera to the subject!

Beautiful! Also this lens which won't fully mount securely on my Eos but I would still use it nonetheless. Mo keifha!

Maybe because its not a Canon lens? Madry. Not sure how different it is from the Tele Macro one but I will figure it out with trial and error.

So a little piece of metal for the price of $50 got me an amazing range of old lenses that are still as good and gleaming a new. Dad has more lenses that I hadn't tried out yet. Also, now I can even buy very old lenses and use them for maybe a % of the original price! Must search around for them

Can't wait for the weather to get better so I can take shots with my newish lenses :D

Movie Review: Al Watar

I went to see Alwatar movie yesterday. At first I wasn't much interested because I didn't like the lead actor much but I was told its a good movie so I went to it.

The movie was very good and the soundtrack of the movie is just amazing. I am so going to purchase the soundtrack which is by one of my favorite Egyptian composers "3ammar El Sheri3i". '3ada 3adel had finally gotten her face done with fillers and botox and she looks 10 years younger and very beautiful. Now I am jealous, I want grey eyes that change color according to my clothes too -Masha2 Allah-

One bad thing about the movie was it was too censored and cut in very important places. The ending itself was CUT! I had to watch it via youtube to understand what was the ending and it changed the entire story for me! Shino hatha y3ni?

Anyways it is a good movie to watch but don't watch it at Cinescape since it is censored beyond recognition plus the screaming kids made it very hard to concentrate!!!

I do have a disclaimer though, before you dismiss this as merely an Egyptian movie let me tell you that not all movies are created equal. This is NOT Al Limbi! Just sayin…

No-No Moment: A car that took 2 handicapped spaces

You can't really get lower than this. I was in Jabriya Co-Op a couple of nights ago when I saw this driver who not only was he parked in a handicapped parking, he actually was parked so that he took up two handicapped parking spaces!

Why? Why why why? What gives you the right to allow yourself this action? What does it take for people to understand that this is a handicapped parking and that cars are supposed to take one parking space per car! Why is that so hard to fathom?

If I had the authority I would have revoked his driver's license! Sadly life goes on and this kind of behavior will go on while the rest of the nation weep over their tea estekana's about why we are still behind as a third world country and why can't we be more advanced like the civilized world. 7esbya Allah wa ne3ma el wakeel!

Picture of the Week: Bubble Wrap

Can you, if you get your hands on a sheet of bubble wrap, stop yourself popping those tiny little bubbles? There is something satisfying, almost soothing, when you feel that faint pop underneath the tips of your fingers.

I myself love to burst those bubbles but I can administer self control. One of my sisters simply can't resist bubble wraps. If there is a bubble wrap around then its a goner for sure. I haven't yet seen a person who can resist a sheet of bubble wrap.

What do you do?

The Furniture Hunt: Midas Thajeej

On my quest to revamp our living room we stopped by Midas Store in Al-Thajeej area last weekend to explore and maybe get some ideas. They had some items I really liked and thought about sharing it here with you in case you are going through the same thing.

I loved this pixilated chair! I loved it so much I actually was thinking of ditching my minimalist modern look and going towards the Arabian infused modern look which I can't pull off :(

Almost bought this foot rest! But I hate the vinyl material place I already haveI a perfectly fine foot rest that I plan on restyling, I don't need clutter.

I like the Vespa painting in the back! I totally need to have a huge art piece or a photograph hanging somewhere. I want it to be one of my photographs though so it would be unique and more personal though. I might photoshop it to get the same color effect as this painting though.

Still can't get over the acrylic photo frames and these are exactly what I am looking for, except I need them to be bigger!

I love these hanging lights. Would be perfect over the dining table even though its not that clear in the picture.

I loved this ball of light HUGE chandelier! It reminded me of a toy ball we used to play with in the 80′s, wish I had a picture of it…

I also liked this chandelier. Too many colors though.

This chandelier is crazy! Etshaweq!

This bar stool is made from colorful acrylics. Lovely but I have no use for it for the time being 7safa.

Now this made me crack up!

How kinky! I would imagine the solemn faces of the in-laws if a newly wed couple give them a tour of their new apartment with this bed in there and wonder how they would explain the handcuffs on the bed, priceless :p

Anyways still didn't decide on anything but the place is worth a visit for sure. Just stay away from the kinky bed please.

Pizza Hut London's Exciting Competition Style

One thing I love when travelling is comparing the services between Kuwait and its abroad franchise especially food wise. Also, the way things are advertised abroad just keep getting more innovative by day! For example the the other day in the UK we decided to stop by Pizza hut for a quick lunch.

As we sat on the table we noticed this carton cutout advertising something. Nothing new here of course, whats new is there is a reminder not to leave without our envelope plus a warning not to open the envelope!

Basically at the end of each meal you get a sealed envelope that you are supposed to open on a certain date when you come back for another meal at pizza hut with a guaranteed instant gift if and only if you keep the envelope sealed until the date specified "5 September to October". Look at the available gifts.

We had an amazing pizza for lunch that day, so fresh and hot and bubbly. Then at the end of the meal we got our sealed envelope!

Luckily we only had to wait for a few days until the day we had to open the envelope. I kept the envelope in my purse and it kept drilling a hole in my mind, I often took it out like a kid anticipating what birthday gift he got through the gift wrapping. I held it against the light, nothing was peeking. I thought about opening it but didn't. Bottom line is it drove me crazy and kept me thinking about my next visit to Pizza Hut, which is what the campaign is all about in the first place.

When the day finally came and we were sitting on the table we were excited and armed by our envelope. The branch manager came and opened our envelope and we got a 30% discount on our bill. Not bad! So its not a 3D TV or the Xbox thingy but its quite a good discount considering Pizza Hut price's in the UK are not really cheap. So we attacked the menu once again :p This is What I managed to snap a picture of from that meal.

All while we were enjoying ourselves that day I kept thinking why don't we have such engaging ads and offers in Kuwait? I remember when we were kids the pepsi bottles had some strange symbols on the caps and you could match them with gifts. Now most competitions we have is a scratch code that we SMS so we could enter a draw to win which frankly is kinda malaqa :(

Competitions London wayed awnas. Someone should copy them please. Khal nestanas shwaya…

The Traffic Cone Massacre en Route to Work

Every day when on my way to work we get held up for a long time in the Jabriya exit to 5th ring road. Rude drivers usually attack other drivers standing in line waiting for their turn to get out, therefore a police car and a group of traffic cone were set up to help organize traffic and stop the angry rude drivers taking others turns.

How successful was that? See for yourselves…

For the love of god! What the hell is wrong with people? How many drivers had actually decided to run over those cones just because they can? The cones were there for a reason yet that reason apparently is not good enough for drivers in a hurry and too good to stand in line and wait for other cars to pass in an orderly fashion.

I am amazed wallah! Poor traffic cones, 7safa 3lehom :(
