Cancer Awareness Message
Pledge: Help Little Mariam Get a Kidney Transplant
I recieved this pledge from a dear friend of mine. A very sick and in a critical state 3 year-old little girl, Mariam Al-Shammeri, is currently residing in Al-Jahra hospital with a kidney failure and needs a kidney transplant. They have a donor already but they are in need of 7000 KD to get the operation done and to pay the donor and the family doesn't have that kind of money.
I've heard that 4000 KD out of the 7000 KD have been collected. Which means there are only 3000 KD to go. If you want to donate something or know someone who would, you can do so through 9andoog E3anat el Martha by contacting Ms. Manal Al-Bezee3 Tel: 99390638 and she will arrange for the money donations to be collected.
Killa fe mezan 7asanatkom insha2 Allah. God Bless you.
P.S. If you want to share this post on your blog or twitter please feel free to do so.
Top Weird Comments I've gotten on my blog!
As a blogger and also as a freak magnet I got MANY weird comments. Some are funny, others are rude. I am sorry I used to delete the very early rude comments from my blog or I would have shared them. Yet I still delete the X-Rated comments and would never show those. Below is a collection of some of my favorite weird comments. Enjoy
From the post "Do you think this look is pretty?" Where I drew a mock up of girl with scary tattooed eye brows, I got this hilarious comment! Its my ever favorite comments!
O in remembrance of the above comment, when I posted yesterday about the "Habba Alert: 7ejab Bu Tafkha Version 2″ with a drawing, I got this hilarious comment. It made my day wallah, looool
This is my 2nd favorite comment because it was my first rude comment as a blogger from 2009
I look at it fondly now and remember it with a smile
Its from the Trader Vic's post, remember when it was opened? Well I went there, had a horrible experience and said it was too tacky! Ma 3jabha el 7achi el ekht…
When I announced that my perfume combination won on 52 degrees Perfume Competition, someone wasn't very happy and didn't think I should be either!
When I announced Prime & Toast and Pizzetta's Gluten Free menu, which was something I was campaigning for, I got this comment. I have nothing but pity for her mentality.
I also clearly remember this one from the Fatburger… Never Again post. I tried their veggie burger and it was HORRIBLE! Sorry fat burger but it was. Again I got a disgruntled comment.
This one was from the Blogging Dilemma post and is also memorable because it came out of the blue. It was followed by more and more comments.
Not to forget this comment I got when I first started writing Dathra. It was on a post called "Lost in Translation: Badliya or a new word".
On my "Big Blogging Rant" when I complained that the fuss regarding bloggers had gone out of hand and that someone had insulted me by trying to dictate what I should write, I got this angry stalkerish comment.
La o she had supporters too!
Since I am a horrible dishonest hypocrite, why on earth do you come back to my blog o la follow me on twitter b3d? Weird people. Anyways moving on…
When I welcomed Prime & Toast as a blog sponsor, this girl was furious.
[image error]Naturally I tweeted about the comment, I am allowed to complain aren't I? So she retaliates again.
Clearly an obsessed stalker w3liya. Only she doesn't have the courage to actually confront me on twitter. Coward. Moving on…
In my "Habba Alert: Men Wearing Bow Ties" post, someone who disagreed with me told me so, BUT, he ridiculed my opinion by making a reference to my liking of coffee flavored frozen yogurt. Shako? Madry wallah 3elmi 3elmkom!
Moving on, from the "10 Things That Never Go Out of Style in Q8" I talked about not liking the smell and result of 7enna. Clearly I offended 7enna lovers in Kuwait. Apparently if I say I don't like it it means I am trashing it!
I do have much more but I will have to dig deeper. I also have the crazy tweets I get on Twitter. Will make a 2nd post soon

9 Lonely Vacation Days in Kuwait :(
The upcoming Eid holiday is going to be 9 days long! In any other circumenstances I would have been out of my mind with joy and out on the first plane. Since my Butootee is going to 7ajj and everyone I know will be travelling and I cannot travel anywhere, it will be the loneliest, most boring 9 days of my entire life
What do people do during Eid in Kuwait for entertainment? What do lonely people do? Its bad enough that I am going to miss my husband whome I've never been separated from since we got married years ago. Its bad enough that I hate hate HATE the Eid crowds in Kuwait. What am I supposed to do, all alone? Stay cooped up inside the house for 9 days?
Maybe that's not a bad idea. Provide munchies, friends dvd's, LOTR extended editions, Rocky, install the WII in my room, start on my endless list of unread book and hibernate. Maybe I will spend 9 days in bed ordering through 6alabat and paying by K-Net and having food brought up to me. After all there is no one to nag on my head to wake me up. No one to interrupt my reading or talk to me while eating? No one to look presentable to. Mo?
Anyways… what will you do during your 9 days off? Any na7sha plans?
Habba Alert: 7ejab Bu Tafkha Version 2!
When the 7ejab Bu Tafkha came out a few years ago, the amount of ridicule those who wore it got was overwhelming, yet they didn't care and the girls sporting the look grew by rapid numbers.
Slowly the look began to diminish. BUT…
Well in the past few months I've noticed a revival of the 7jab Bu Tafkha with a new twist: Part the front of your hair, pile it up high in a subtle bukla, place the 7ejab on top so it shows 1/2 your hair on top, and keep the tafkha on the very top back and make it a very big huge one! They look even worse than before! 9ar hawdaj mo tafkha! Yoboooy!
What the hell is that look? Doesn't their heads hurt with all the weight on top? I wish I could draw a better picture but this is the most my artistic talent could get! What on earth is wrong with a simple plain 7jab? or 7jab bu kleenex! 7ar! Ya nass 7ar! Ma tkheshoon? The think is so heavy and bothersome a woman almost slammed into my car the other day because she was adjusting "Her pretty 7ejab look" while driving, tadroon el anaqa kanat ra7 tekhtereb if she didn't fix it in the street w3liya. So this post is in her honor.
It doesn't look like 7ejab Bu Tafkha is going anywhere soon

Picture of the Week: Macaroons
I like this picture of the sensational macaroons. Still not a fan of them though, can't see what the fuss is all about. Are you a Macaroons Pro or Con?
Going to Hajj This Year…
This year my Butootee has decided to go to Hajj insha2 Allah. Its his first time going to 7ajj to "explore" before he takes me in the years to come insha2 Allah
So he has done his homework and searched for the best 7amla to take him to Mecca especially considering he is going all alone. He chose a small 7amla called Labeek and will be sharing his room with two other men he doesn't know. So recently all we've been doing is preparing for his trip.
First he had to go get his 7ajj vaccinations which took us several days going from one medical center to another until we found the right one. Then we had to go buy him the 7ajj e7ram's. He bought 3 only but I think we need to buy him some more. he bought white slippers and a black belt so I guess his e7ram outfit is complete? Bought the dettol wipes as well and the 7amla gave him a big bag and a handbag that must be packed and ready to be shipped on October the 27th.
What else do people buy to prepare for 7ajj? I remember hearing about a scent-free toiletry kit for 7ajj but I don't know from where to buy it. Tried Al-Shaye3 and they only had the deodorant. I suppose he needs towels mo? and a clean change of clothes for when he finishes his 7ajj rituals. What about socks? Or blankets?
Have you been to 7ajj before? Is there something you recommend we buy? and from where?
What I learned this past week…
Last week, I learned that we hold on to life with a very fine thread that could snap in a second. When your time is up, its up. Sick or healthy, fit or overweight. It doesn't matter. That if we are blessed by god with a long life, we should think about the quality we want for that life.
That when my mother pestered me, my siblings, and anyone who would listen regarding weight and how to lose it right this second, she was concerned that one day along the line we might end up like the patients she used to treat, all fat and clogged up on cold white hospital beds with doctors taking a chance with their treatment. Treating one thing, damaging the other, and going in cycles trying to put a human back on track.
That food, no matter how good it looked or delicious it tastes, is just a fuel for our bodies. We choose the finest unleaded super fuels for our expensive cars. We should do the same for the most precious things we have in life: our bodies and our life time on this earth. There is no guarantee we will live longer or shorter, but there is a guarantee that we will live a better healthier life no matter how long we get to live. That is something to think about the next time you think about downing that big plate of lgaymat or reaching out to order that deep pan pizza with extra cheese and pepperoni on top.
I learned that to go on a diet should aim at getting a better quality of life, not fitting into a size zero skinny jeans and looking good. Its an added bonus of course but it should not be my real goal.
I learned that my choice of becoming a vegetarian is actually a blessing in disguise. I just need to trim all unnecessary fat and sugar from my diet.
I learned that I should try and keep moving whenever the opportunity would arise, and that my wii Fit should never be abandoned and lonely, collecting dust in the corner. With my wii there is no excuse for not trying to be active…
Oh… and I learned that RIM owes us three day's worth of Blackberry subscriptions too

Souvenirs from Around the World: Versailles Clock
One of my most treasured souvenirs I collected from my world travels is this tiny yet handsome table clock. We bought it when we went to visit the palace of Versailles in France. Its the palace where Marie Antoinette and her husband Kind Louis madry cham lived and its beautiful. And even though I am not a fan of the Louis era artifacts and style I couldn't resist this clock. Look at its beauty…
So very cute! I love it and have it proudly displayed in my living room even though its totally clashing with my modern furniture!

A Toy's Story: Time Goes By So Slowly
Poor old man, all alone on his favorite chair looking at the clock. Wondering where the best of years had gone by, too quickly, and why the time had suddenly come to a stand still when he is all old and lonely.
Make the most out of your youth, don't waste anytime. But remember those who are old and lonely and waiting for your company.
