Picture of the Week: Dandelions
When we were little we were told that if you see a dandelion you can make a wish then blow on it. If all the little fuzzy things fly off from your blow your wish will come true. I am not sure how accurate is that myth nor do I believe in it, but till this day i cannot resist blowing the dandelions whenever I see one.
Do you blow them away or keep them in peace?

Movie Review: Abduction
When I was in the UK I saw the trailer for the movie "Abduction" in the cinema and the moment I saw it I knew it was going to be a good movie. Therefore when it was out in Kuwait I had to go see it ASAP.
The movie star is Taylor Lautner aka Twilight's Jacob which I like a lot and think is the only well chosen character to play his role in Twilight. The starlet is a young pretty girl who is in desperate need of a pair of tweezer since her extra thick bushy eyebrows jumped out from the screen. What the hell is that?
Other than that the movie was just as good as I thought it would be and better. Taylor is an only child living happily with his parents when one day when working on a school project he stumbles across his childhood picture in a missing children's website. When he confronts his parents all hell breaks loose and the boy goes on the run. As they say, some thing are better left unknown.
A movie that is definitely going to my DVD collection. Highly recommended.

Good Saturday Morning…
Last day of the weekend, how fast does it come?
I guess the question for this Saturday should be "Where to have breakfast today?". I am really in the mood for a good hearty breakfast outdoors!
What are your breakfast plans this morning?

Dathra's Book is Finally Sold on… AMAZON!
A dear reader of my blog, Naheda Ismail, emailed me earlier tonight to let me know that she had found my book on Amazon. Yes, you read that right… AMAZON!
My book is sold on AMAZON! I thought from the email I had recieved from my publisher that my book had been rejected? It is available in AMAZON… my book! My humble little book is sold in AMAZON! Not only Amazon, also Amazon UK! Imagine!
I can't believe it! Its like a dream come true! I feel like someone had knocked out the wind out of me. My heart is racing and my eyes are filling with tears and I just want to keep my laptop open on Amazon all night long while I stroke my own book on the screen and look inside and laugh as it says that the publisher has shared a limited number of pages :') Its mine! I wrote it, its mine, and its out there for the entire world to see!!!
I am quite proud of myself at this moment. I plan to dress up and go out to celebrate this lifelong achievement of mine. I wish my readers and Dathra's fans can feel the pride I feel, it is filling my lungs and oozing out to my surrounding.
Thanks to you, Dathra's fans, for it wasn't for you I would never had made it into a book or tried to get out for entire world to see. Thank you guys, truly thank you *dissolves into a fit of happy crazy disbelieving tears*.
Nesait a7e6 el liks… Just in case I wake up in the morning and I don't fine them or something… or maybe I'm seeing things that don't really exist? Kil shay jayez wallah!
Pizza Huts New Sandwiches are Finally Here
Back in April we were invited by Pizza Hut to try out the newest addition on their menu for feedback (post). They were going towards posh sandwiches with gourmet fillings and a much appealing taste for the Q8y palette.
We gave our feedback and it was taking into consideration and customized accordingly. Now the sandwiches are out and we recommend you try them, made with the softest ciabatta. The meatball sandwichs and the roast beef with mushrooms sauce were my Butoote's favorite. There is also the chicken Cesar's sandwich and the smoked turkey sandwich.
Al-Watar Movie Soundtrack
Remember when I said that the music of the Egyptian Movie "Alwatar" is beautiful (post)? I managed to find it on youtube. There are two main melodies: The original theme which is long and sad and the fast paced one above. The original long one is below.
The music is composed by my favorite Egyptian composer Omar Khayrat. I've always loved his music. Listening to his compositions as a teenagers is what made me play the piano and now as I listen I am searching for piano lessons. I think its about time I fulfilled that dream of mine.
Listen, enjoy, and have a great weekend!
A Dangerous drive home…
Two days ago as I was driving home from work I was stuck in traffic behind this waneet. To be frank I got jittery and scared and wanted to switch lanes ASAP for those metal poles he had lying there unprotected could fly through my windshield the next time he presses the brake pedals on his car. Serious damage could be inflicted on me and its really dangerous. His driving wasn't the best either!
The moment I moved my car away from him, I was behind this cement trunk!
This huge truck was overloaded with cement bags. Unsecured in any manner possible and overflowing all over the edges. It was driving and swerving and I was sweating in fear and trying to get away. If one of those cement bags fly off and with the velocity of the truck, it would be very destructive especially if it hit my windshield.
I am not sure if there is a law against securing truck's load before driving them. Is there? If there is then I would report those two reckless drivers! If there isn't then WHY ON EARTH NOT? Why can't they use ropes, or lessen their loads, or use a bigger truck to drive around with their dangerous shipments instead of endangering lives unnecessarily?
On a positive note I saw this car on the road as well and it made me laugh Y7leelhom…

Review: Mix it… Name it… & Display it Perfume Exhibition
Yesterday we learned something new and did something we have never done before, thanks to 52 Degrees and their newest event "Mix it… Name it… & Display it".
When we arrived to 52 Degrees at 8:30 we saw an area where different perfume brands were displayed. Underneath the Lamys brand there was a nice lady with several people surrounding her as she mixed perfumes and explained to them what she was doing.
The nice lady which turned out to be Mrs. Layma Al-Farsi, the owner of Lamys perfumes explained to us the basics of perfume mixing and asked us to create our own perfumes! Basically every perfume has three notes: A high note, a mid note, and a base note.
The high notes of every perfume are what you smell when you first squirt the perfume on your self. Ms. Lamya had a big collection of essential perfumes or oils available for us to choose from in the high notes.
My perfume had a high note of Orange Blossom, just a hint. Butoote's had Raspberry
Mid notes are the smells that linger on after the initial high notes disappear in the first whiff. Most of the collection was quite flowery but I managed to choose two of my 3 favorite scents: Gardenia & Rose. Butoote chose Full & Lilly, Lilly being his late mother's favorite flower Allah yer7amha.
Base notes are the scents that stay after the all the other notes disappear. There weren't many to choose from so I chose Patchouli and Butootee chose white musk.
We took our time smelling the different perfume scents and trying to imagine how they would go together. We were also joined by blogger Delicately Real and we took turns smelling things, isn't her ring below lovely Masha2 Allah? She and Butootee chose very similar mid notes
Between inhaling the scents we smelled coffee beans to help clear up our nostrils.
After choosing the mid, high, and base notes you give them to Ms. Lamya.
Ms. Lamya will then right down the perfume name and the notes chosen. I named mine Danderma
Then she will start the mixing of the perfume infront of you, right away! That's my perfume being mixed!
After the perfumes have been mixed in that little jar they are transferred to the big perfume bottle.
Then Alcohol is added to the bottle and Voila! It is finished! and your name is written on the bottle and added to the rest of the contesting perfumes
A bit of my perfume was squirted on this little paper and I thought it smelled pretty good! O even though it was flowery but the overall effect turned into Oriental scent rather than Parisian. I love Oriental
Delicately Real's perfume collection. There was a fourth scent which I don't recall? Lotus china?
Butootee said he will name his perfume Laila if he won after his late mother Allah yer7amha Now we are waiting for 52 Degrees to judge the perfumes and choose a winner any time now.
Of course I had to pass by my book and check on it. 52 Degree, laish my book jdamah jabal other books maskeen o ma ybayen chithee? Za3alt ana tra
Anyways…
Lets hope Danderma's Perfume wins haa :p
It was a pretty fun event! It was also on a blue district night so we mixed el perfumes then had a delicious dinner while we listened to live guitar playing. The only downside to the event was the late advertising. 52 degrees should have advertised it much earlier not only two days ago, 7safa!
Thanks to Mrs. Lamya Al-Farsi for her patience and kind advice It was a pleasure to meet you as I am already a fan of her Lamys perfumes in 52 Degrees (try the cheesecake o the new marshmallow!).
Where is the Nakhla?
We were driving around last weekend when we saw the strangest hybrid of trees ever. It looks a dead palm tree portruding from a bushy Conocarpus trees! There were a group of them as well. Mo chenna za7ma shway :p

Pledge: Help Save Abdul Kareem's Leg
When the bloggers went last Monday to the Kids Cancer Party at the NBK hospital (post) and (post) each had a different view on their experience to share. All of them however agreed that the most touching story was the story of the young Abdul Kareem. This brave smiling boy has cancer in his leg that is spreading around. In order to save his life he is faced with two options: Get a knee replacement surgery or have his leg cut off.
So why can't he get a knee replacement? Because they say its not available in Kuwait. However, he can have it replaced in Jordan where the operation is available there. What is the problem then? Well Abdul Kareem is not Kuwaiti and the operation will cost him 30,000 KD which his family doesn't have.
How is this possible? The medical services in Kuwait doesn't include a knee replacement operation! Why is it available in Jordan and not in Kuwait?
We thought about having a charity run for Abdul Kareem to help gather the 30,000 KD for him. There are two problems though: 1- The money has to come from one place and not from multiple people, god knows why! I think maybe money laundering rules apply here? and 2- Abdul Kareem has no time. His leg amputation operation is scheduled for next week
By next week, Abdul Kareem will lose his leg because a knee replacement surgery cannot be performed in Kuwait. By next week, Abdul Kareem whose family doesn't have 30,000 KD will be able to live but with one leg only. He is just a little boy with a big smile whose already endured chemo until he is stick thin. But he will have to suffer for the rest of his life because an artificial knee cannot be spared to save his leg.
We can't gather up donations for him, we would have tried. But we can do is spread the word. Maybe there is someone out there who is willing to help out. Companies maybe? Rich people with big hearts and 30,000 KD to spare? You can help Abdul Kareem by spreading his story, tweeting or posting about it until it reaches someone who can help before its too late. Its the least we can do for this brave little boy with a big smile despite his pain and misery.
