Recipe: Jacket Potato
Whenever winter arrives I get a craving for potatoes. A strong irresistible craving that cannot be satisfied until I bake myself a big fat potato and turn it into a Jacket Potatoe. There is nothing better than a steaming Jacket Potato to warm your insides in the winter cold.
In the late 80′s and early 90′s the Jacket Potato was the it meal in the UK. Whenever we went somewhere we would find a place that sells it. Somehow there is only a handful of places that does sell it now a days and mostly are department store cafes, BHS or Selfridges 4th floor restaurant for example. But we've been making them at home forever now. All you need is a big fat potato for baking and the toppings. That's it! In my case I liked Heinz baked beans and sharp grated cheddar. The more aged it is the tangier and better.
Everyone can make Jacket potatoes. Including Rachtel Green in Friends who can cook only one meal "Jacket potato and diet coke". All you have to do is wash the potatoe, poke it, and throw it in a hot over for 45 minutes to one hour. You can wrap it in foil if you want but the skin will not be very crispy then.
While it cooks prepare your toppings. It takes 5 minutes. Heat the beans in a pan. Then grate the cheese. Very hard work :p
This is the hardest part of the meal preparation, grating the cheese!
I don't mind grating the entire block of cheese and using it on one jacket potato. mmmm
When the potato is done I take it out of the oven and directly on the plate.
Unveiling the golden baked beauty… smells good!
I crack it open in half with a knife.
With a fork I grate the potato halves, then sprinkle salt and black peppers.
I usually add the cheese on one half and baked beans on the other half.
Then I add cheese on the beans topped half and beans on the cheese topped half.
And Voila! The dish, the amazing amazing dish, is done! Is there anything easier to make on earth? It shouldn't be called a recipe a9lan!
I don't know how describe the Baked Beans taste. But its good and gives the slightest sweetness to the dish.
Now I like baked beans. In the past I liked sweet corn. My cousins and siblings all love the little prawns in the cocktail sauce which I won't eat in a million years! However we all agree that we must have cheddar cheese.
Proper cheddar cheese that is and none of that canned Kraft cheese. If you keep it for a while the cheese will melt. I like my cheese a bit melted and not entirely melted. Have to eat it fast now.
The best part? The crispy skin! I love love LOVE the skin
The perfect bite *sigh* I love Jacket Potatoes to the point of wanting to include it in my menu if I ever open my own restaurant!
Do you like Jacket Potatoes? How long has it been since you've last eaten it? What's your favorite toppings.
The Danderma Cupcake
In March 2010 a little home business contacted me for a review (post) on my blog and I gladly accepted. Who wouldn't want a box of hot bubbling molten chocolate cakes when it was the prime habba of the time? The name of the business was Butterfly Sweets.
Then in September 2011 I received an invitation for the opening of the first store for Butterfly Sweets. I was happy and I was proud. The owner did inform me that she loved my blog so much, she will name a cupcake after my blog, calling it Danderma's Cupcake! Sure enough I went there recently and did find my Danderma Cupcake printer on their menu
Thank you so much Butterfly Sweets for such an honor! I am truly happy! Not everyday do I get to have a product named after me now do I? I will be ordering them and reviewing them soon on my free day
If you want to try Danderma's Cupcakes or any of Butterfly Sweets scrumptious desserts especially their molten cakes you can visit their facebook page (link) or call 99551311 or 23831100 for home delivery. Don't forget to order Danderma's Cupcakes

Milk Cafe's Chocolate Gift Basket
Yesterday evening the door bell rang and something was delivered. A gift basket from… Milk Cafe!
With a bright orange card that had my name on it.
The first thing I did is read the card. I love getting cards by the way. Found this very sweet message inside from the Milk Cafe team
That's really sweet! Thank you guys! So what's inside that basket? Literally filled to the brim with goodies?
All kinds of chocolates dippers available, including two that haven't been introduced in the cafe yet!
Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and Saffron White Chocolate dippers. The new Kinder Chocolate and MnM's Chocolate dippers. And…
Two new flavors that are to be released soon: Aero Mint Chocolate and Rolo Caramel Milk Chocolate! Mama mia!
But that's not all! There were also bags filled with Milk, White, and Dark chocolate coated honeycomb.
And two bag fulls of mini almond biscotti dipped in Nuttella! The smell of those was out of this world I tell you!
What we chose to have that night was of course the Aero Mint Chocolate and the Rolo Caramel Milk Chocolate.
I liked the Aero mint alot. Although I am not a fan of Aero but it didn't taste Aero at all. The downside is that it wasn't very minty. If you are wary of the mint flavor then you shouldn't worry it has the slightest hint of mint flavor. If you like it strong like After 8 for example they you won't like it.
And that's the Rolo Caramel Chocolate Dippers. The mini rolos melt and you can see the swirls of caramel melting and its so lovely!
And it was a fine fine dinner. Those little Nuttella almond biscotti? Dipped inside the hot milk? One dip and they become so soft? Gone with the wind in a matter of minutes.
Thank you Milk Cafe for such an amazing gift! You truly made me happy yesterday. I overdosed on your chocolate goodies until bed time :p
See what I mean by giving out a gift of milk dippers from Milk Cafe? The next gift I am giving out would be something with Milk Cafe Dippers in it! It made me so happy I know it would make gift recipients equally happy Or imagine you are invited to a camp or chalet gathering in this cold winter and you take a basket of hot chocolate dippers as a gift with you instead of a salad or a much repeated dessert? New, quirky, and Splendid!
Milk Cafe is located in Al-Seif area right next to Pinkmoon Boutique. For more information on their food you can check my previous posts (here) and (here) and for more information about Milk Cafe you can check their facebook page (link) or follow them on twitter @Milk_KW
Keep Calm and Love Danderma :D
Ever since I've started blogging I've received many rude and hateful comments. Heard many negative feedback. Been put down so viciously that it left me wondering at time if having your own blog was worth all this trouble. Then sometimes you come across such sweet comments or gestures that fills your heart with warmth and make you smile happily because it makes you realize that somehow, somewhere, your endurance has enabled this blog to touch someone's life in a good way. That it is worth it.
One of these gestures was by my little friend on Twitter @salqassar. She changed her Twitter Avatar to a red background with the slogan "Keep Calm and love Danderma"! I recognize that slogan from the UK, never have I thought I would see my nickname Danderma on it though. Thank you dear Salqassar for the best Avatar I've ever seen and for making my day yesterday :*
Keep the love coming people Every once in a while people need a pick me up and you could make someone's day with such sweet gestures.
Picture of the Week: Blueberries
I adore blueberries. I love the feel of them being crushed under the force of my bite, squirting their heavenly juice everywhere. When I saw a blueberry tree in London I couldn't resist taking this picture, especially given that Mrs. Lady Bird seems to share the same love for blueberries as me. I just wish I could grow a blueberry tree.
Do you notice someone else in the picture? Perhaps a second insect

Good Saturday Morning…
In the winter we are all hungry all the time. What better way to start our morning than with hot fluffy fatayer? Zaatar and Cheese fatayer to be exact? Some how nothing fills that endless winter void in our stomach except waist ruining doughy food I suppose :p
The fatayer above is called Tabliyya and I had them at ayamme a few weeks ago! They were gooooood
Do You Remember This Cartoon: Gummi Bears
I was in Virgin Mega Store the other day looking at DVDs when I saw these in the Disney Section! I was so happy two see them! My friends the Gummy Bears from the 80′s!
I used to love this cartoon! Love how they had this big magical book that contained all the answers! Loved that the girl in the cartoon had boy hair and looked so good in it instead of always having long hair adorned with a stupid girly flower. Loved their adventures and especially loved their song!
My favorite Gummy Bear was the angry fat one. Come to think about it I've always loved the grumpy angry cartoon characters the most. I think its because I identify with them at some level and they are the least silly of all :p
Do you remember the Gummy Bears? I wonder if the candy Gummy Bears was made after them?

Review: Milk Cafe
Its no secret that my palates have been taken captive by the tantalizing chocolate milk dippers sold in Milk Cafe. I've raved about it on Twitter and Instagram. I've been there over and over just for a cup of hot chocolate.
I love that magic cube that transfers any hot cup of milk into the best hot chocolate in Kuwait. I love it so much I hailed it as the best hot chocolate in Kuwait (post) and I nearly went gaga when I heard they were introducing two new flavors: Kinder Milk Chocolate and MnM's Milk Chocolate last week. I just had to try them!
In my first Milk post I promised I would go back for a proper review and luckily I found myself with my camera in a working state by Milk's door on the day they released the Kinder milk chocolate. I took some shots of their interior which I find very simple yet very retro. The glass panels gives it a mid 80′s disco feel.
By now I've probably tasted most of their menu but I haven't tried their famous steak sandwich with sweet potato fries. So when Bu Tootee wanted to order a turky sandwich I made him order the steak one.
I stole a potato chip but it was normal potato not sweet potato. I guess that's why I didn't feel it was that special. The steak sandwich however made Bu Tootee very happy and he raved about it up until he fell asleep. Yes that good. Something about the sauce and the cheese and the tender steak slices.
We also ordered the savory crepe. Mozarella and pesto. I didn't try it as I am not a fan of savory crepes at all but supposedly it was good. Its drizzled by a balsamic glaze by the way.
They also had a "diet" croissant. It was made with healthy grains which I liked and came with a side order of jam and butter.
Now for the stars of the evening. The kinder and the mnm's hot chocolate dippers
Dipped inside steaming cups of frothy skimmed milk.
Teree tereee….
That's my kinder. To be frank I thought it would taste better. It has a hint of kinder taste but its very mellow. I liked the milk chocolate better. Check out the mnm's!
The color of the mnm's is melting into the hot chocolate! Nice
The mnm's is much better and stronger than the kinder. But still the milk chocolate one is the best of them all
At the end when we asked for the check we were presented with complimentary honeycomb pieces and chocolate covered honeycomb.
I'm not a fan of honeycomb and my braces can't handle them so I didn't try them but my Bu Tootee polished them off and was very happy.
Of course before I went home I took several milk chocolate dippers as takeaway :p If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen the bag :p I still haven't tried the mint hot chocolate dipper since it isn't available still but I will get around to doing so insha2 Allah
By the way, Milk Cafe serve gluten free chocolate cake! And a pretty good one too! I've tried it before and took a picture with my iPad which is horrible but you get the idea.
Plus, if you want to try any of their sandwiches you can bring your own gluten free bread and they will make you the sandwiches accordingly.
Milk is located in Al-Seif area right besides Pinkmoon Boutique, Burger Hub, Pizzetta, P&T, Slider Station, and Cocoa Room.
