Das Collection Abayas for Sale by Owner

Maria, a reader of my blog, had contacted me regarding selling two items from DAS collection for abayas she had received as a gift yet she doesn't wear abayas so she wanted to sell them to whomever is interested.

Das Collection is an Emarati abaya brand that is sold in UAE and in Harrods of London. Maria wants to sell one abaya and one jalabiya, both unworn and not stitched so they can be made to fit any any size. Both come in the original DAS collection packaging.

Please not that I am not selling these items nor responsible for anything as a result of this sale. If you are interested please contact the owner Maria on her mobile phone 67062064. The price for both the Abaya and the Dara3a is 225 KD (3000 AED) but the price is negotiable for serious buyers.

Danderma on Bazaar's Dining Guide Blog Bytes :D

In January of every year Bazaar Magazine issues a dining guide. Its a thick black book that contains reviews about the latest it restaurants in Kuwait. Not only reviews: interviews, menus, chef and restaurant owner interviews and this year they have decided to add something new called Blog Bytes.

Several bloggers, myself included, were asked a few questions and asked to answer as if we were tweeting them :D I read about half the guide yesterday before falling asleep and two of my favorite bloggers, Ansam and The Diet Ninja, were there as well! I wonder who else will appear in the second half :p

Well aside from the fact that I AM ON IT the dining guide is a must have. I have the past three dining guides sitting proudly on my bookshelf and I just learned that there are three more that I didn't know about! To my surprise I found out several new things about the dining scene in Kuwait. A couple of new places and the fact that Cucina Restaurant in Missoni Hotel is created by Chef Giorgio Locatteli!

Giorgio Locatelli? Giorgio Locatalli? We have a Giorgio Locatelli restaurant in Kuwait  when I've been trying to get a reservation in his restaurant Locanda Locatelli in London without any luck?! The Giorgio Locatelli?

He is one of my favorite chefs! Why didn't any one ever make a hype over him opening up a restaurant in Kuwait? We have got serious lessons to learn from our sister Dubai in PR! and here I am mourning the fact that no chef wants to open up in Kuwait all the while one of my favorites has opened up!!! Well thanks to Bazaar, now I know!

Bazaar's Dining Guide 2012 is now available with the January issue of Bazaar Magazine. Wherever you find the magazine you will find the dining guide attached to it. Read my Blog Byte people :D

Things 2 Do in London: Visit Cadbury World

One of the most memorable experiences you can have in the UK is visiting Cadbury World in Bournville near Birmingham. True it is not in London but its only 1:20 minutes away by Virgin Train from Euston Station. I've been there more than once and I wouldn't mind going there every time I go to the UK.

Imagine yourself walking in a factory that smelled of melted  flake? You'd go insane for sure!

Before you go inside Cadbury world (or after, according to your entrance time) you pass by Cadbury essence's experience where you learn the story of how the Cadbury brothers almost gave up making good chocolate before thinking of adding one and a half glass of milk. Afterwards you gather alone a long pipe for some "Cadbury Essence". Pure melted Cadbury dairy chocolate in a cup…

Can you imagine the smell? You can choose your Cadbury essence to be mixed with Popcorn, Rice Krispies, and many more crunchy things!

I chose Rice Krispies

Afterwards you go to the Cadbury World entrance according to the time on your ticket, which you can purchase at the front disk or online like I usually do, online. Before you go inside you must be given chocolate or else you will not bear your visit.

The first place of the Cadbury world to visit is the Mayan place telling the story of the roots of Cocoa and how much was the Cocoa worth back in the Mayan and Aztec cultures and how Europe had found it.

The story progresses in time until you come to a clearing with a mock up of the first Cadbury shop in the old days.

After a few videos, interactive displays, and games you reach the packing plant where you are not allowed to take photographs. It is where the chocolate of Cadbury gets wrapped and packaged and has a killer aroma of melted flake! Its a killer and a joy to walk-through!

After a nice joyful ride like Sindibad el madina el tarfehiya you get photographed and you can collect your pictures later on before you exit Cadbury world. You also pass by these demonstrations.

More Cadbury essence to devour! Yum

The best part is that you get to shop in the world's largest Cadbury shop after your visit!

Its this AMAZING shop filled with chocolate and other Cadbury memorabilia in quirky decor!

Some of the things you can purchase at their gift shop.

Guess what else is there? If you fancy a snack?

After you are done you can call a taxi to take you to The Bull Ring mall or the Mailbox (post) to grab a lovely dinner and shop a bit before your train goes back to London.

It was a magical rainy night the last time we went. Good memories. If only we could turn back time :)

To get to Cadbury World first order your tickets online -you can collect them at the entrance- from their website (link). Then on the day of your visit take a Virgin Train from Euston Station to Birmingham New Street Station. When you are in Birmingham New Street take a taxi to Cadbury World (5 minutes). You won't regret it, trust me on this one.

Beautiful Takeaway Juice Bottles from Casper & Gambinis

I don't know how long have Casper & Gambini's been doing this but let me tell you, the take away juice packaging? Awsome! Never in my life have I seen such an elegant, tall, modern, and elegant juice bottle! Then again why should I be surprised? C&G are well known for style -and taste for that matter-.

I ordered lunch from C&G last week and my order included lemonade with mint. When the bottle arrived I couldn't believe my eyes as its beauty was breathtaking. The florescent green color of the juice inside made it even more beautiful.

Some of you reading this post may go "WTH is the matter with Danderma? Obsessing over a bottle of juice?". But then again its not simply a bottle of juice, its the most beautiful bottle of juice I've ever seen! I abandoned my lunch immediately and subjected the cold bottle for a photoshoot!

It is sealed shut so no liquid could escape while its being delivered. Much appreciated.

I can totally appreciate the thoughtfulness put into those bottles. Other restaurants wouldn't bother with such product beauty but I think it makes all the difference as food ordering and eating is not only a daily task, its an experience,  a way of life. Injecting a little style into that experience makes it more special. I count myself lucky to have C&G in Kuwait.

Don't you think the bottle is spectacular?

Half a dozen nightmares in one night :S

I've been having a lot of nightmares recently. Scary, wake up screaming drenched in sweat nightmares! Worst of all was last night when I had not one, not two, but five nightmares! The last one so horrible, involved leftover bloody bodies and such.

Come to think about it, in nightmare number three I was talking to my father about having a nightmare where I saw a brai39i! So that technically makes it six nightmares, one inside the other, inception style!

Is there a reason maybe why a person gets so much nightmares? I doubt you could walk up to a doctor and say "I am having so many nightmares that I wake up exhausted and tired, what can I do?". Anything scientific explanation regarding that?  Or is it just built up stress that I am trying to suppress so it comes back in the form of nightmares?

What do you think?

Picture of the Week: Rays of Light

I was taking a walk on the beach the other day when I saw this wall light. I love how the beams of light are reflected on the wall. It is like watching a Helicopters blade from a bird's eye view! Almost as dangerous as a chopper.

The Count Down to the 20,000 Comment owner

Just arrived from the USA is the gift to be presented to the owner of comment 20,000 on my blog! The count down has started already and the gift is something spectacular from Apple that I have just received myself today. It is not an iPhone and not an iPad since almost everyone in Kuwait has those available.

I have a good feeling that we will see the winner before this weekend. Just leave a comment and you may be the lucky winner! I have however some points regarding the winning comments:

1- It has to be a real comment. Nothing like Yay or Thanks or ;) . It will not be eligible.

2- Winners of the 10,000 and the 15,000 comments will not be eligible either. Sorry guys :)

3- This goes without saying but hate and rude comments will not be eligible either.

So comment away and best of luck to everyone!

Noaf and the Steak a la Cockroach…

Last Monday around 5 PM in the evening a friend of mine, Noaf, went to a famous sea side restaurant in Kuwait to have lunch with a friend. Sadly this restaurant is one of my top ten favorite restaurants that I go to for comfort food. Anyways, let me tell you what happened in Noaf's own word as she emailed me, I just shortened it down a bit:

"We ordered our salads, then they brought our steaks. One of the steaks we ordered was the balsamico. About a third of the way into our steaks and mushrooms, we spotted this cockroach! We called the manager and told him, he picked up the plate, looked closely at it, TOUCHED it, then said "I will show the chef" and walked away, leaving us there in shock! We took some pictures and by the time he came back we decided that we were leaving. As we were getting up he was coming towards us, and said a quiet 'I'm sorry', to which my friend loudly remarked "you SHOULD be sorry, this is absolutely unacceptable, I will not be paying for my food, we are leaving." They let us walk out of there and didn't do a thing. If I wasn't so disgusted and nauseated and quite frankly, shocked and wanting to hotfoot it out of there, I would have made a bigger scene. In retrospect, perhaps we should have, as they didn't do much in terms of calming us. He didn't seem angry or disgusted himself…at all really. I eat there at least once a week, sometimes more. I'm even on a first-name basis with some of the older staff. But never again. This is absolutely disgusting!"

A dead cockroach in a plate of steak covered in balsamic sauce is one thing. Not trying to do ANY THING about it is totally another thing! What should Noaf had done is take the plate and get out of there directly to the Consumer Department "7mayat El Mostahlek" and they would have been there in an instant! By the way, this little fella doesn't live alone. Whenever a "small cockroach" is around it means there is an infestation of small cockroaches that must be dealt with immediately. I know this because my mother is terrorized by them and would quarantine the entire house if she ever found one walking in the street outside our home.

Sadly, this means I will never ever be going back to dine in that place. The way this matter was taken care off is ever more sad. As if its a normal thing to find a cockroach lying in your plate. I once found a hair in my soup there and made a scene, I am so glad I didn't find that cockroach or I would have screamed in fright for a few minutes first before I made my scene! Shame on you!

G63!

Do you agree with what Noaf did? leave quietly? or should she have taken the plate to 7mayat el mostahlek?
