#8Sunday: Back to the place where her husband was killed in Made For Her #military #scifiromance

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Last week I posted, but forgot to sign up. So, if you missed last week’s post and want to read what happened when Mikayla saw Dare at her door, you can read it here.

Made For Her released this past Monday, and I’m going to post one more excerpt from it. With today’s snippet, I’m jumping ahead quite a bit. This is in Mikayla’s point of view. General Madison has taken her to Onatria labs where her husband once worked and was killed…

The rubble she remembered had long since been carted away. Another building had been resurrected in its stead. A smaller structure, one that blended in with the community. “What is this place?”

Madison pulled out a key card. “It’s a shrine to Daniel and all of his work. But no one else knows. I couldn’t let anyone find out. I’ve kept many secrets for Daniel; he was my best friend. But this is a big one, Mikayla.”

~ MADE FOR HER ~

After terrorists murder the love of her life, Colonel Mikayla Jones trains squadron after squadron of the clones he brought to life, to take to the skies. When she discovers a young clone of her husband in her newest class, her world spins out of control. How can she command the look-a-like when she can’t help but yearn for him to fill an ache in her heart?

Dare was created to be the best. As the first Daniel clone to leave Onatria labs, he needs to prove he is more than just a DNA copy. To do that, he must rely on the wife of the man who donated his genes. But when she refuses to train him, Dare faces discharge and returning to the labs. Can he convince Colonel Jones to finish his training and find a way into her bed? Or will long kept secrets unhinge the entire clone project?

She cannot deny her attraction ~ #MySexySaturday from MADE FOR HER #scifiromance

 My Sexy Saturday

Hello and welcome to the 131st week of My Sexy Saturday.

Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.

Today’s theme is…

OUR NIGHT OF SEXY

Here’s seven from my new release, MADE FOR HER. Enjoy!

Made For Her by Jessica E. Subject, an erotic military sci-fi romance

Set-up: Colonel Mikayla Jones has spent an evening helping Dare in the flight simulators. Against her better judgement, she invites him back to her place for a beer…

She held out her beer. “Here’s to a good trainer and trainee.”

He tapped the bottle with his own. “We made a great team.”

“Team…. I have a confession to make, Dare.” She set her drink down on the end table and placed a hand on his thigh. “I set you up on the first V1 cut. I added extra wind and a slippery runway.”

She tried to pull her hand away, but he grabbed her wrist and guided it toward his hard shaft. She’d probably hurt him as a result, have him sent to the barracks, but he had to try. “Well, I might just have to punish you for that one.”

She didn’t resist, but rubbed her hand down his arousal and cupped his balls. “I look forward to it.”

That’s an invite, and I won’t say no. He pulled her in close while kicking the coffee table out of the way. “I’ve wanted you since the first day I saw you.” And now he finally had the chance to take her.

He let go of her wrist, and she pulled her hand away. “We can’t do this.”

He needs her back. #MidWeekTease from MADE FOR HER #military #scifiromance

Get teased, titillated, and tantalized with this week's Mid Week Tease

Happy Wednesday! It’s time for Mid Week Tease, an author meme hosted by Angelica Dawson, where authors share snippets from their recent releases, back list titles, and works-in-progress (WIPs). So, please check out my tease and visit the other participating authors listed below.

For today’s post, I’m sharing another excerpt from MADE FOR HER, which released on Monday.

Made For Her by Jessica E. Subject, an erotic military sci-fi romance

Setup: After finding a clone of her husband in her squardron, Mikayla refuses to train him. She didn’t know her husband had been cloned, and cannot control her emotions around him. But, Dare won’t take no for an answer. He needs her to train him….

Dare rolled off his cot then left the barracks, his body sore from the last few weeks of hell. Major Thompson had sent them right from the classroom to physical training, as if they were still in basic. When they ran flight simulations, Thompson assigned him the first officer’s seat rather than the captain’s. The only time Dare had the chance to fly as captain, he’d fucked up the take-off and crashed the simulated plane. Not an ideal way to start, but he required more practice. His squadron only had two weeks left before their first flight, and he felt no more ready to fly a plane than he had a month ago. He’d studied his flight manuals every night, but they did not compare to practical experience. Somehow, some way, he had to convince Colonel Jones to come back and train him. He needed to be prepared.

He walked up to the colonel’s house and knocked on the door. Waiting for her to answer, Dare noticed his foot tapping. When had he started that habit?

“D32, what are you doing on my doorstep? I told you never to come back.”

He spun around to see her standing at the end of the path leading to her house, another man only a few steps behind her. The major. An unexpected, gut-wrenching anger filled him, making his blood boil.

“Go home now, Thompson,” she said. “You are wasting your time.”

The man leaned forward as if to kiss her, but she stepped to the side. Dare held in the urge to punch him. Violence wouldn’t win him any points with the woman whose help he needed.

Thompson turned toward him, his gaze ready to kill. “And yet there is a cadet on your doorstep.”

She placed a hand on the major’s chest. “He’s wasting his time, too. But he’s my problem to deal with.”

Colonel Jones grimaced as Thompson stormed away, before advancing toward her house and Dare. “Lieutenant, are we going to have a problem here or are you going to leave now?”

Jessica E. Subject’s Weekly Writing Update ~ A New Release and Learning Scrivener

Writing Update 2016

Hello! It’s Tuesday, and time for my Weekly Writing Update. Over the past week, I didn’t manage a lot of writing. I was getting ready for my new release, and trying to convert my files for Bryce over to Scrivener. Yes, I finally bought the software and am trying it out. Check out some of my screen shots below…

NEW RELEASE! MADE FOR HER ~ This story is now available at All Romance, Amazon, Barnes & NobleGoogle Play, iBooks, Kobo, and Smashwords.

Made For Her, an erotic sci-fi military romance by Jessica E. Subject is now available!

SALE! ~ THE COMPLETE UNDERGROUND SERIES is only 99¢ USD for the month of March at All Romance and Amazon (US, Canada, UK, Germany, AustraliaJapan)

The Complete Underground series price banner

GIVEAWAY! Enter to WIN print edition of Cosmic Desires on Amazon (US addresses only. No PO Boxes.)

BRYCE ~ Now that I’ve switched to Scrivener, the word count tracker is a bit different. Everything is divided into chapters and scenes, rather than having the entire thing together. As I said before, this week was a little slow in writing, and I only managed to add 525 new words to Bryce. But, here’s a sneak peek at some of my Scrivener boards and my characters…

Galactic Defenders on Scrivner - Bryce

Galactic Defenders on Scrivner - Lalia

Galactic Defenders on Scrivner - Other Information

I’m still trying to figure out Scrivener, but I’m learning as I go. Plus, I noticed some issues in my story that need to be fixed, things I did not notice when it was in Word.

AWARD NOMINATION ~ Don’t forget, Alien Attraction was nominated at BTS eMag for best cover in the January/February 2016 issues.  http://btsemag.com/redcarpet/best-cover-voting/cover-voting-issue-31/

GOALS FOR THE WEEK ~  I will add as many new words to Bryce as possible.

Please share what you have been up to this week. Are you reading or writing anything new?

Reader Letter from Made For Her

Hello everyone! If you haven’t already heard, Made For Her released today. I thought I’d share with you the Reader Letter from the front of the book…

Made For Her by Jessica E. Subject, an erotic military sci-fi romance

Dear Reader;

A long time ago I was invited to be a part of an anthology with some of my favorite authors. I wrote my story as quick as I could, received some help from an airline pilot in writing one scene, and had other authors critique it for me to ensure it was the best story I could submit. Unfortunately, the anthology didn’t happen. I had a finished story I loved, and no place for it. Thankfully, my publisher took a chance on it. During its time with Decadent Publishing, Made For Her received two mentions on the USA Today HEA blog, and one on io9.

Made For Her deals with cloning, an already controversial subject, one that caught my attention back in 1995 with Space: Above and Beyond. I was fascinated with the character Cooper Hawkes, a race conceived through In Vitro fertilization and suspended in cryogenic sleep until the age of eighteen when they went on to serve in the military. It was him and the show that provided much inspiration for this story. Only I took it a step farther with genetically altered clones.

After receiving the rights back to this story, I made some minor revisions throughout, and added an extra chapter. In this edition, I’ve also included a bonus story, Replicated Consequences, which takes place in the same world. While this is a standalone story, I do have another clone story plotted. And right now, I’m working on a new series, Galactic Defenders. The first one, Bryce, will release later in 2016, and the second, Jager, in 2017 with more to follow.

Wishing you all the best, and many good books to read!

Jessica

blog excerpt 2016

Chapter One

Captain Mikayla Jones opened the door and gazed up at the Skymaster II rocketing another group of pilots toward SFTC, the Space Flight Training Center. She’d been the instructor of most of the men and women on that flight and would come face to face with a new class on Monday morning. But she hadn’t rushed to the door to bid the squad farewell. No, instead she stared at the four men in uniform standing before her. She recognized three of them from the base, knew they hadn’t come with good news—they would never have arrived at her door together other than to inform her of a tragedy—but it was the fourth man dressed in black, his hands drumming a beat on his utility belt, who worried her the most. He wasn’t military.

“May we come in?”

Lieutenant Colonel Madison’s question yanked her back from her thoughts. “What is it? Tell me what happened.”

The chaplain from the base stepped forward with a heavy nod. “Captain, it’s best if we go in and sit down. Detective Krug of the Northwest Police Department has something to tell you.”

She braced her hands on the door frame, afraid if she let them in, their bad news would be true.

“C’mon, Mikayla.” Lieutenant Colonel Madison draped an arm across her shoulder and guided her into her home. He would be the only one to call her by her given name here, the only one who knew her well enough. “You need to sit down. It’s about Daniel.”

She stopped in her tracks, dread pooling in her stomach, but the chaplain, the detective, and his military police escort continued into her living room.

“This isn’t funny. It’s our anniversary. We’re supposed to go out for dinner. He promised he’d be home. Whatever this surprise is that you’re all involved in, I’m not impressed.” Her voice hitched. “Go over to the lab and tell Daniel to come home.”

“I’m afraid that’s not possible,” Detective Krug said.

Her knees threatened to give out. “Why? He works just over there.” She pointed in the direction of the military labs where her husband conducted experiments for the government, ones so top secret, Daniel couldn’t even mention them in her presence.

“No, Mikayla,” the colonel said. “He was contracted out to Onatria Labs.”

She gasped. Her chest tightened. Had she misheard him? “The lab rumored to be involved in cloning? But that lab was blown up this morning.”

She waited for one of them to tell her that her assumptions were wrong, that Daniel was okay, but they all stared at her, their eyes solemn. No, it can’t be true.

“The Natural Lifes have already claimed responsibility for the bombing,” Detective Krug said.

Drawing in a deep breath, she willed her body to stop shaking. Captain Jones could not break down, not when cadets depended on her every day to train them for flight. “Where is my husband? Which hospital is he at?” She couldn’t stand still. She had to get to Daniel, to take care of him. Their anniversary dinner no longer mattered, but she had to be with her husband.

“Mikayla, I’m so sorry.” The colonel rested a hand on her shoulder. “But Daniel didn’t survive.”

She stepped back, grasping for something to hang on to. A tear slid down her cheek, but she wiped it away. Her husband had to come home. Yet, her heart had already broken, processed the news before her mind. Grasping the back of a chair, she turned to the detective. “You have to be wrong. He can’t be dead. He can’t. It’s our anniversary. How do you know it was him, huh?”

“We read his military ID chip. I’m sorry, but there’s no mistaking his identity.”

“No!” She was no longer Captain Jones. She melted back to Mikayla, wife to Daniel Jones. And she let go, falling to the floor. Terrorists had stolen her husband from her. She was alone. Forever. All of their hopes and dreams, gone. Her chance at having a family, no more. She had nothing to live for.

Madison knelt beside her and rubbed her back. “I’m very sorry.”

But she turned away from him. “Leave me, please.” She wrapped her arms around her knees and wept for her husband.

#8Sunday: She told him never to come back in Made For Her #military #scifiromance

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Made For Her releases tomorrow. My snippet for today continues right after last week. Remember, Major Thompson took over training the clones after Mikayla left, and Dare has arrived at the colonels door to ask her to return to training them…

He did crazy things to her mind and heart ~ #MySexySaturday from MADE FOR HER #scifiromance

 My Sexy Saturday

Hello and welcome to the 130th week of My Sexy Saturday.

Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.

Today’s theme is…

A SEXY PARANORMAL LOVE

While I do have some paranormal short stories, I’ve decided to forgo the theme today, and post an excerpt from my upcoming release. Here’s seven from MADE FOR HER, which releases on Monday. Enjoy!

Made For Her by Jessica E. Subject, an erotic military sci-fi romance

Set-up: Colonel Mikayla Jones trains clones to fly into space. But when she is forced to train one who looks like her late husband, she refuses. In this excerpt, the clone (Dare) is trying to convince her to come back and train him.

She had to get him out of the house. He did crazy things to her mind. And when he’d stood so close, all thoughts of her original plans to head to the local pub vaporized. She wanted more. Staring into his ocean-blue eyes reminded her of the nights she would gaze into Daniel’s after they’d made love.

“No. I want you to give me private lessons. It has to be you. I need the best to be the best.” He reached for her, but she pulled away, not willing to feel the sparks of desire from his touch. “Do it for Daniel. He would want his clones to be nothing less than top of their class.”

D32 was right. Daniel never did anything half-assed. He was unequaled because he worked hard and never gave up, even when his work seemed impossible. But training D32 would take so much restraint.

Agree to whatever he wants. Just get him out of here before you wind up in his arms. “Fine, but lessons have to be for the entire squad. All of you at eighteen-hundred every night, whether you have to skip chow or not. We’ll run the sims for four hours. If you’re late once, I’m gone, and I’m not coming back.”

When he held his hand out, she cringed. “I just want to shake on it.”

“Okay, agreed.” He had a firm handshake, proving he wouldn’t back down until she’d agreed to what he wanted. She took in his smile and reconsidered the deal. Did he have a hidden agenda? Did she?

Leaning against the door, she breathed a sigh of relief when he left. When the throbbing in her loins stopped, she called General Madison.
