His Alien Virgin by Jessica E. Subject #NewAdult #1NS #scifirom

Setup: After crash landing on Earth, Skylar has finally arrived at the Castillo hotel in Las Vegas, and it getting primped for her date. Those helping her give her a hint as to who her date could be…

“Cherise, I’d like you to meet Skylar. She had a bit of a rough time getting here, and I’d appreciate if you can help her freshen up for her evening.”

Cherise nodded slowly and reached for a strand of Skylar’s hair, letting it run through her fingers. “I like her style already. This will be fun.”

Fun? What did the female have planned for her? Skylar needed only a change of clothes.

“Then I’ll leave her in your capable hands.” Leah touched her shoulder. “I’m sorry, Skylar, but I have a wedding to attend to. Cherise will ensure you meet Daran on time.”

“Daran?” Was that her date? She cringed at the familiar name. She’d once known a man named Daran, but it had been many star cycles since she’d seen him outside of her fantasies. Could he be one and the same? No, not on Earth. The Daran she’d known rarely flew anywhere due to his fear of heights. He’d never leave the atmosphere of their home planet, let alone travel to another galaxy.

But, who is the Daran I’m meeting? And what would he think when he finds out his love for the night is an alien?

Leah gasped. “Oh, I shouldn’t have told you. He may not even be your date. I just assumed….” She shook her head. “If he’s the man you’re meeting, you’re a lucky woman. He’s very sweet and kind.”

“Um-hmm,” Cherise said, her eyes brightening. “A big teddy bear. A hunky, sexy teddy bear that I would gladly lick chocolate off of if I didn’t already have my own Prince Charming.”

Leah chuckled. “I’ve really got to go. Enjoy your evening, Skylar.” She waved and left.

Skylar closed her eyes, taking a calming breath. This Daran, whoever he was, had received the approval of two women, so he couldn’t be too bad. She only hoped he approved of her.

Cherise tapped her hand on the back of a chair. “Come, sit down. First, I’ll work on your hair and makeup.” She poured a creamy white liquid on a cotton pad and brought it to Skylar’s lips.

With each scrub, Skylar winced. The color would not come off.

“Wow, this is really resistant makeup. I’m not able to remove any of it.”

“It’s, um, permanent.”

The woman dropped the pad. “Oh, I’m sorry. Did you really have your lips tattooed?”

Tattooed? She’d missed that term in her research of Earth. “Sure.” Hopefully that explanation worked. Thank the gods she didn’t have blue skin like her stepbrothers.

“Wow, you’re brave. I’m sure that hurt.” Cherise grabbed a brush. “Okay, let’s work on the hair then. I’m just going to give it a quick trim then pin it up. After that, we’ll pick out an outfit that will have Daran drooling the second he sees you.”

~ HIS ALIEN VIRGIN ~

She is desperately seeking freedom…

On the eve before her twenty-first birthday, Skylar steals a ship and escapes from the planet Rebed. She refuses to be another wife for the slimy space pirate that is her betrothed. After hearing of her brothers’ success, she applies to the 1Night Stand service on her way to Earth, hoping Madame Eve can find her a hero, to make her feel special, even if for only one night.

He is trying to fit in…

A longtime friend to Skylar’s brothers, he’s always relegated her to the look and don’t touch category. Though, Daran traveled to Earth years ago, he still struggles to fit in on the planet. When his boss suggests a blind date, he reluctantly agrees. What would happen if anyone found out about his alien ancestry?

And they are not at all meant to be together…

Has Madame Eve made a huge mistake, or will Daran tread into forbidden territory to be with the one woman he’s always wanted, and become the hero Skylar craves?

Intergalactic Shenanigans Ensue in STARFLIGHT by @Melissa_Landers #newrelease #giveaway

It's release day for Starflight by Melissa Landers

Please welcome Melissa Landers, author of YA sci-fi romance!

Hey there, booklovers!

I’m author Melissa Landers, and I’m thrilled to announce the release of STARFLIGHT, the first in a brand new sci-fi series from Disney-Hyperion. I originally pitched this story to my editor as “Overboard” (one of my favorite romantic comedies) meets “Firefly” (an amazing show that was tragically cancelled after one season). STARFLIGHT follows the misadventures of Solara Brooks, a penniless felon who indentures herself to her high school nemesis, Doran Spaulding, in exchange for passage to a new world. But when Doran’s memory is temporarily erased, Solara convinces him their roles are reversed—that she’s the master and he’s the servant—and leads him onto a renegade spaceship, where intergalactic shenanigans ensue. STARFLIGHT is very different in tone from the Alienated trilogy, but the story is still filled with all the things I love: humor, heart, and adventure.

Starflight by Melissa Landers

What do reviewers have to say?

“Get ready for blast-off! Action-packed and utterly addictive, nobody writes like Melissa Landers. A smart, satisfying romance set in a vividly detailed world, Starflight was just plain fun!” –New York Times bestselling author Amie Kaufman

“Teens will be bracing themselves during the swashbuckling action scenes. A great choice for fans of raw sci-fi action, reminiscent of the lawlessness presented in the television series Firefly.” –School Library Journal

“A lively tale of romance, space pirates, conspiracy, and made (as opposed to genetic) families.” –Booklist

If you like your sci-fi adventure served with a side of romance, I hope you’ll pick up a copy of STARFLIGHT today. It’s now available in stores and online.

blog excerpt 2016

London, England, 1815

Prologue

Isabel Salisbury hopped up from her seat and faced her mother. “Elevating me? Are you mad? This arrangement only benefits you and Father! What is the rush? Surely, your situation can wait until Nathaniel returns?” She lifted her chin high, attempting to remain controlled, but lost all civility.

“Furthermore, I will not accept a proposal of any sort from any duke or such until I have spoken with Nathaniel!” I could never love another. How can they do this to me?

Interrupting the hostility, the ancient pendulum clock hanging behind her father struck eight bells, reminding her where she needed to be. Without asking for permission, she dashed from the room, wiping her eyes and not looking back. Her conniving parents thought that this—that they—would be over. Not if I can help it. She had to get answers and soon. The last thing she desired was to be pawned off to a duke who had no interest in her.

Isabel had heard in great detail of the Duke of Brimley’s conquests—from the infamous courtesans Madame Martine boasted of, to a mysterious affair with some Italian beauty, who was never seen, over a year ago. All of this and so much more had been revealed at Miss Turner’s garden tea party just a week prior.

While Cecily, Madeline, and several other ladies of the haute ton thought the rumors to be utterly scandalous, that didn’t stop them from letting their imagination run wild. Miss Turner went on to compare Brimley to the men written about in those French novels that her mother kept hidden.

What more could I ask for? Not only will I marry well, but I’m bound to be miserable with a man who thrives on living a life scandalously and shadowed by infidelity. I would much rather perish from consumption.

Hidden in the shadows of her parents’ maze of roses, Isabel raced against time. There she would meet Nathaniel, in what could be their last moments together for months. Despair over not seeing her beloved until he returned from the war office shook her to her core, tripping and stumbling her along the way. Her hopes and desires had been crushed. Emptiness swallowed her heart whole.

What if he never returns? How could he not tell me? She loved him dearly, yet anger simmered beneath the surface and insecurity washed over her.

“There you are, sweetling. I was beginning to think you weren’t coming.”

Isabel threw herself at him, desperately hoping her parents were wrong. “You’re leaving me?” she murmured into his overcoat. Please let it be a falsehood.

“Darling, let me explain, but first I have to ask you something.”

Her eyes widened with disbelief. She sniffled and stepped out of his hold, gazing into his beautiful and stoic blue eyes.

“I wanted to do this sooner, but…would you do me the honor of becoming my wife? I know that we cannot be married until I return. Nevertheless…”

Isabel smiled, tears rolling down her cheeks. She almost shrieked with glee, but given their clandestine meeting, her joy had to be contained. Please, please, please, don’t anyone find us right now. “I accept,” she blurted before wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her lips to his. She allowed herself to languish in the slow tease of his tongue.

“Outstanding, sweetling. I’ll meet with your father in the morning, and we’ll begin the arrangements when I return in six months.”

“Nathaniel, that is too long! Are you sure you cannot return any sooner?”

She found herself enveloped firmly in his embrace, finally content, when he replied. “My dear, it could very well take longer. I assure you, I will do my utmost best to return to you in time.”

Isabel beamed against his chest. “Very well, my darling. I cannot wait to share the news with Mother!”

Maybe now they’ll see how worthy you are. Now there shouldn’t be any reason why I must meet that wicked duke.

#8Sunday: Created before cloning became legalized ~ Made For Her #scifiromance

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post! I’m having a lot of fun getting to know the other participating authors and reading their wonderful and intriguing snippets.

I received comments back from my beta readers, made a few revisions, and formatted Made For Her. It will be going up for pre-order soon. Today’s snippet follows a couple sentences after last week’s, still a conversation between Mikayla and General Madison.

“He actually created D1, before cloning became legalized using his own DNA.”

“No.” Was everything she knew about Daniel a complete lie?

“Yes, he didn’t want you to know because the survival rate of the clones in the beginning was less than one percent. Now, ninety-nine percent will go on to serve our government.”

“But Daniel’s been dead for years. Why did you suddenly decide to clone him again?”

General Madison wiped a hand across his face. “Mikayla, the clone in your squadron is the thirty-second clone made with Daniel’s DNA. He’s D32.”

Made For Her by Jessica E. Subject

~ MADE FOR HER ~

After terrorists murder the love of her life, Colonel Mikayla Jones trains squadron after squadron of the clones he brought to life, to take to the skies. When she discovers a young clone of her husband in her newest class, her world spins out of control. How can she command the look-a-like when she can’t help but yearn for him to fill an ache in her heart?

Dare was created to be the best. As the first Daniel clone to leave Onatria labs, he needs to prove he is more than just a DNA copy. To do that, he must rely on the wife of the man who donated his genes. But when she refuses to train him, Dare faces discharge and returning to the labs. Can he convince Colonel Jones to finish his training and find a way into her bed? Or will long kept secrets unhinge the entire clone project?

This story, recommended on both USA Today’s Happily Ever After blog, and io9 will be available for pre-order in a couple days.

Two aliens to bring her pleasure #MySexySaturday from SATIN SHEETS IN SPACE @DecadentPub #1NS

 My Sexy Saturday

Hello and welcome to the 126th week of My Sexy Saturday.

Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.

Today’s theme is…

A SEXY VAMPIRE

While I don’t write about vampires, I do have two sexy aliens for you in this excerpt from SATIN SHEETS IN SPACE. Enjoy!

Satin Sheets in Space by Jessica E. Subject, an erotic sci-fi romance menage

Set-up: Danyka has met her date, but after a mind-numbing make out session in a back alley, she finds herself on a spaceship, with not one, but two sexy aliens.

Returning to her side, Galan ran his hand along her exposed thigh.

The new male circled the bed, examining her with his stare. “Brother, she’s perfect.” He brushed his fingers over her back, across her tattoo. “And marked for us, too. You chose well.”

“I didn’t choose, Volan. An Earth woman, albeit one with supernatural powers, set us up together. I couldn’t have asked for a better match.”

Her cheeks warmed with their unfamiliar compliments. She could listen to them forever.

Volan joined them on the bed. “It turns out I’m looking to settle down, like my brother. What do you say to two men bringing you pleasure, tonight? We’ll make it a night you’ll never forget.”

She turned to Galan. Did he consent to this? Was a ménage normal for them? She’d never been with two men at the same time. And brothers at that. Her body shook with desire, imagining the fantasies the two could fulfill.

With Galan’s nod, moisture flooded her thighs. She wanted them both. Even if for one night.

~ SATIN SHEETS IN SPACE ~

Danyka’s unusual height and radiant red hair earn her the cold shoulder from any guy she approaches, unless he wants to experiment with a giant. So when her boss sets up on a one night stand, she hopes for a prince but expects the usual toad.

As a captivating stranger whisks her away from the ball and introduces her to his equally gorgeous brother, she fears her fantasies have become a nightmare. Has she finally given into impulse only to become a lab rat in an unknown world?

3 Things to See in Space with the Naked Eye

Three things to see in space with the naked eye

Hello and welcome to another Fun Friday. It was one of my New Year’s resolutions to do these posts every week, and today will be the last one for January. I did a month! I just hope I have enough ideas to keep going through the rest of the year.

I love to look up into the sky when it’s clear and dark. There are so many things to see. Far more than just stars. If you’re lucky enough to live where there is not a lot of light from a city, you might even be able to see other galaxies. Yes, it’s true! But, I’m talking today about more than just stars. I’ll start out with the easiest thing to see…

PLANETS

[image error]There are a few planets closer to us than our sun, so why shouldn’t we be able to see them. We can see our moon, right? Actually, you might have even seen a few planets thinking they were bright stars. Right now, in North America, Venus is extremely bright in the southern sky early in the morning. I subscribe to Space.com posts, and often they tell you not only how to see stars and meteor showers, they also tell you how to best see the planets at certain times of the year — You Can See 5 Bright Planets in the Night Sky

THE SPACE STATION

International Space StationI subscribe to Spot The Station, an email service that tells me ahead of time when the space station will be visible in my area in the night sky. Of course, it has to be a clear sky to see it, but I have seen the space station fly over many times, and waved as the astronauts pass by. (Yes, I know they can’t see me.)

AURORA BOREALIS

Northern lights (aurora borealis) display over a frozen lake in Lapland. It is my dream to see the Northern Lights. The result of electrons colliding with the upper reaches of the Earth’s atmosphere, the auroras in the North and South are a beautiful site. There are sites that forecast when to best see the Northern Lights — http://www.aurora-service.org/aurora-forecast/ and tourist destinations to see the show from the comfort of your bed in a glass igloo — http://www.kakslauttanen.fi/en/

Tell me: How do you like to observe space?

New Release: Flight of the Dragon Queen by @TheaLanden #1NS #RPG @DecadentPub

Flight of the Dragon Queen
FLIGHT OF THE DRAGON QUEEN

by Thea Landen

For his entire life, Caleb has always been more comfortable surrounded by books and games than other people. When 1Night Stand is recommended to him, he contacts Madame Eve but is too shy to actually meet any of the women she finds for him. Together, they reach a workable solution: a simulated dating experience in a setting reminiscent of his favorite stories.

After following Madame Eve’s instructions, Caleb finds himself in a vivid fantasy world, complete with a damsel in distress who needs rescuing. His objective is clear, but he must find a way around the many obstacles standing between him and Alizeira, the mysterious woman imprisoned in an underground cell.

While working on his plans to save her, Caleb spends time getting to know Alizeira beyond her role as prisoner, and a mutual attraction develops between them. He is unsure whether she’s a real person playing a part like him, or if she’s simply one piece of the elaborate simulation that’s been programmed for his date. Setting her free is the first step to discovering the truth, but how many secrets is Alizeira hiding?

blog excerpt 2016

After racing through a narrow alleyway, we emerged at the edge of the manor grounds, facing the meadow I’d first landed in. Spectre slowed down, and I stared out over the sprawling fields. “Which way from here?” I asked.

Alizeira leaned over my shoulder. “We need to get to the river.”

I searched the horizon for some clue. Mountains stretched above the wide panorama in every direction, but I had no idea where to find the water. “Do you know where it is?”

“I think it’s that way.” She gestured ahead of us and to the left. “But I don’t know for sure.”

I pulled on the reins until Spectre faced where she’d pointed. The discussion about how to proceed, though brief, had cost us precious time. Beneath the horse’s feet, the ground rumbled, the vibrations reverberating up through his legs to where I sat. Angry shouts and hurried hoof beats traveled to my ears. Our pursuers had found our trail.

Clamping both knees around the saddle, I gave his ribs another nudge with my boots. “Come on, boy,” I whispered in his ear. “Let’s see what you can do.”

He followed my commands, and we set out across the open grasslands. Without the hazards of overhanging roofs or gnarled tree roots poking up from dirt paths, Spectre galloped even faster than he had before. Wind mussed my hair and stung at my eyes, and so much adrenaline coursed through me I could barely breathe. Despite any minimal discomfort, the rapid pace and the woman riding with me awakened something deep inside. We embarked on the thrilling adventure I’d dreamed of.

Speeding through the tall, yellowing reeds with the sun blazing overhead, I could push aside the dangers we fled. Alizeira reminded me we’d yet to arrive at a safe location. “The guards are still following us.”

“We’ll be okay.” I yanked on the reins and gritted my teeth against the wind.

The flat landscape of the fields we traversed seemed never ending. I squinted into the distance, but discerned no landmarks or signs. What happened to this river, anyway?

“Hurry!” Her fingertips dug into me. “They’re getting closer!”

Though tempted to turn around and see for myself, I didn’t want to risk losing my balance and falling off the horse. Spectre wouldn’t be able to maintain his lightning-fast speed forever. I’d almost given up hope, but then I spotted the first glints of silvery rushing water up ahead. “There,” I shouted.

The roar of the river crashing over the rocks mingled with the thunder of the hoof beats behind us. Before I could say anything else, the arms circling me loosened. Cool air flowed over my back, and I realized I rode the stallion alone. “Alizeira?”

Spectre skidded to a stop at the edge of the riverbank mere seconds before we would have fallen into the current. I saw no way to cross to the other side, nor did I see any sign of the woman I’d promised to save. Without dismounting, I scanned the area behind me in case she had fallen. She’d disappeared without a trace. “Alizeira!”

The army of soldiers on horseback stampeded toward me, their mounts kicking up clouds of dust and dirt as they closed the distance between us. Captain Sampson led the pack, straddling a steed that, while fast enough, paled in comparison to the stallion I’d stolen from him. As he gained ground, he used one hand to unsheathe his sword and raise it in the air. I pulled on Spectre’s reins and looked around for an escape route, but I was trapped with no way out.

Would they be together again? #MidWeekTease from NEVER GONNA LET YOU GO @DecadentPub #scifiromance

Get teased, titillated, and tantalized with this week's Mid Week Tease

Happy Wednesday! It’s time for Mid Week Tease! For those who don’t know, Mid Week Tease is an author meme hosted by Angelica Dawson, where authors share snippets from their recent releases, back list titles, and works-in-progress (WIPs). So, please check out my tease and visit the other participating authors listed below.

For today’s post, I’m sharing an excerpt from NEVER GONNA LET YOU GO, which is available individually as an ebook, in a digital box set, and in a print anthology.

Never Gonna Let You Go - Sci-Fi Dystopian with FF and MF scenes

Setup: Calla has regained consciousness after being attacked by an unknown creature on the planet Airondelle. Her and Melina have already been together, but that was when she’d believed the man she would one day marry did not care for her anymore.

A hand brushed over her hair, and Calla sensed a body beside her. She shifted to get a better look at Melina staring down at her, inhaling her now familiar citrus scent.

Melina wore a fake-looking smile, her red-rimmed eyes an obvious sign of her worry. “How are you feeling, honey?”

Having just woken up, she wasn’t sure, but the pain had lessened. “Okay, I guess. What happened?” She sat up alongside Melina and noticed tears in her eyes.

The commander cleared her throat and took a deep breath. “I’m so sorry, Calla. I shouldn’t have left you, even for a second.”

She’d found someone who cared, who worried about her. Leaning against Melina, she pulled her arms around her body, finding comfort there. “I’m okay, I think. I’m glad you’re okay, too.” She snuggled into Melina’s soft, ample cleavage.

“I guess we found a new species here. What do you think it was?”

Melina laughed, wiping her eyes. “Always the biologist. I honestly have no idea. I was more concerned with helping Erik get that thing off of you than trying to classify it.”

“Erik?” Why would he have been out in the field? No, she couldn’t think of him. He only confused her.

“He heard you scream when….” Melina ran a trembling hand along her breast and down her stomach, resting it at the edge of her cotton gown. “He thought you were in danger.”

“I guess it’s a good think he showed up.” Her stomach clenched at talking with her new—whatever she was—about her ex, since they themselves had a past.

“I hate to admit it, but yes. I don’t want to think about what would have happened if he hadn’t.” As her voice trailed off, she hugged her tighter.

During the next few minutes of silence, Calla became even more confused about her situation. Erik had heard her screams and came running. Did that mean he still cared? Or had he rescued her only because she was part of the team? But it was Melina who had been by her side when she’d woke. How long had she been there, and was she there as her commander, her friend, or her lover? Would they ever be together again?

Calla drew Melina’s arms off of her and faced her. She needed to know. Her emotions were already invested. “What happened between us, was it a one-time thing, or…?”

Melina pulled her back down. With forceful sweeps, she invaded her mouth, their tongues beginning a drugging dance. Calla’s nipples grew taut with excitement. She backed away to catch her breath.

~ NEVER GONNA LET YOU GO ~

Sent to Airondelle, she must work with a team to prepare the newly discovered planet for colonists from Earth. But the mission does not go as she expected. Her former lover, Erik Edwards, shuns her, sending Calla into the arms of Melina Holloway, their commander, for the attention she craves and more. A confrontation among the trio leaves her with a broken heart, and fleeing from the two people she trusted most.

Attempting to break free from the lies that bind her, she discovers Planet Core has deceived everyone. And when she returns to Earth, Calla learns just how far Planet Core’s control reaches.
