MATED WITH THE CYBORG ~ Author @CaraBristol shares her top 10 (or 12) favorite lines #scifi #romance

blog top ten 2016
Cara Bristol’s Top Twelve Lines From
MATED WITH THE CYBORG

When cyborg Kai Andros goes undercover posing an android on an enemy space station, he’s prepared for anything—except the tug at his conscience and heart when he finds out the enemy’s innocent daughter has been marked for death. From Mated with the Cyborg, twelve excerpted lines:

Fear was a flaw. Flaws were punished.
Other than her emotions, she had nothing to hide. She would miss many things, but being watched wasn’t one of them.
While Kai wouldn’t intentionally harm her, he would manipulate her to obtain whatever information he could.
Taking on impossible challenges was what they had trained for. Lived for. Sometimes died for.
She’d been taught her people were noblest of the Great One’s acolytes. Yet no one else recognized their favored status—just the opposite.
“All my life, if I wasn’t ignored, I was ridiculed. Your customs and concepts are foreign and strange to me! I don’t make fun of you! Don’t try to reshape me into a…a…Terran. My beliefs are the only possessions I own.”
His job of infiltration, intelligence gathering, and the occasional assassination didn’t require open-mindedness. He was too used to being around other cyborgs whose feelings weren’t easily hurt.
A few kisses to convince her I desire her, then I’ll let her down. Who am I fooling?
“Are men from your planet always so difficult to seduce?”
“One does not need to see evil to know it exists.”
He’d disavowed the evidence of his eyes and bought what he’d been told. How easily one could be misled into believing the myth of consensus.
He had a hunch he was slated for the bot recycling program. Progressive practice in theory. Not so good when you weren’t actually a robot and the secrets in your head could lead to the fall of the free galaxy.

MATED WITH THE CYBORG by Cara Bristol

Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance, book 2

Kai Andros’s orders were simple. Get in. Gather the intel on the terrorist organization. Get out. Then he met her. Mariska. Beautiful. Innocent. Ignorant of her father’s atrocities. And marked for death. His orders said nothing about saving her. But he did. He went off-mission.

Can a rogue cyborg outrun both Cyber Operations and the terrorists to save the woman he loves?

Mated with the Cyborg is an action-packed erotic sci-fi romance between a man with a mission and a woman with a secret that jeopardizes their lives and the fate of the galaxy.

blog excerpt 2016

Some might have cheered Mariska’s impending demise. The organization’s brutality had incited a backlash of negative sentiment against all its members. Many espoused the notion that the only good Lamis-Odg was a dead Lamis-Odg.

Kai couldn’t buy into that. Mariska had been no party to the actions of her father or Lamani. She was vulnerable. Innocent. But not stupid or cowardly. In the month he’d spent observing her, her quiet fortitude and inner strength had impressed him. Even before he’d caught the shocking glimpse of her face, he’d been struck by her beautiful eyes. A rich shade of melted caramel, fringed by dark lashes. Expressive in their attempt not to be. She didn’t trust him.

Her wariness pierced him in a way it shouldn’t. She was a person of interest, and her emotions shouldn’t impact his decision-making. And, in fact, she was wise to be suspicious. Obido had bugged her quarters and employed spybots to keep tabs on her. While Kai wouldn’t intentionally harm her, he would manipulate her to obtain whatever information he could on Lamis-Odg.

The reign of terror had to be stopped. Direct intervention in Mariska’s fate jeopardized that goal. Doing nothing was the right thing to do. Sacrifices had to be made for the greater good.

Why did he feel like he was no better than Obido?

When they approached the gangway inside the small cargo transport bay, one of the smaller shuttle ports on the station, two Lamis-Odg guards drew their weapons. “Halt!” one of them cried.

“It’s okay. He’s with me,” Mariska said.

While one guard leveled his weapon, the other scanned him. “The android is not authorized to board,” the guard said.

“He’s not boarding; he’s loading my luggage. He’ll disembark after he carries it to my stateroom.”

“Negative. He shall remain here.” The guard motioned. “Leave the cases.”

Kai set the bags down, and the sentry scanned them. “Clear,” he announced. He jerked his head at Mariska. “You may take them now.”

She dragged one toward the craft.

“My duty is to serve the daughter of Obido. Allow me to set the bags inside the door. I shall not enter,” Kai said.

The two guards glanced at each other and shrugged. “All right.”

Under armed watch, he deposited both bags inside the portal. There was nothing else he could do. He sought Mariska’s gaze. Don’t go. “Have a safe flight.”

“Thank you.”

She boarded. Kai stomped down the gangway.

Can they find love at a hockey game? SUDDEN BREAKAWAY is on sale! #99cents #1NS @DecadentPub

Can you believe it’s 2016 already? The last part of 2015 seemed to pass by at double time. Well, I’m here to tell you about a sale on one of my titles. Each month, one of my back list titles at Decadent Publishing will be on sale for 99¢. This month, with the World Junior hockey tournament on, and other hockey events, I’ve decided to put SUDDEN BREAKAWAY on sale. Here’s more about this story….

Sudden Breakaway (a 1Night Stand story) by Jessica E. Subject

SUDDEN BREAKAWAY

a 1Night Stand story

Erotic Sci-Fi/Military Romance with light bondage

Dressed in her black designer suit, Paige Brown recruits men and women for the Space Service. After the end of her marriage, and several failed recruiting missions, she yearns to find a way out of her lifelong contract to live a normal life. To find love again.

Jared Barnes’s life had been flipped upside down by two little kids. When his former Commander’s wife shows up to give him a reprieve, he jumps at the chance for a break, and to visit his former squad. But it is not his buddies he meets in the private suite at a hockey game, instead a woman who has been the star of all of his recent fantasies, fulfills his wildest dreams except the one that binds his heart.

Has Madame Eve made a mistake or can two lonely hearts overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles?

blog available from 2016

Only 99¢ through January 31, 2016 from:

Amazon US  All Romance website

blog excerpt 2016

Jared shucked his towel and stroked his rigid cock. That woman made him hard every time she came to the door, trying to persuade him to sign up for the Space Service. Her claims had seemed far-fetched when she’d first approached him, yet his commander had confirmed her credentials, having been approached to join by another many years ago. While Jared would never add his thumbprint to the contract he’d read, he wouldn’t mind if she stopped by to try and convince him again.

Ms. Brown, with her black blazer revealing a hint of cleavage and a skirt that showed the perfect curvature of her ass. When he’d answered the door fresh out of the shower and seen her on his porch, he’d gripped the door handle to hold himself back from yanking her inside and tearing off her fine-pressed suit.

He squeezed his balls; no time to jack-off. Dylan and Madison would arrive in an hour, and he had to take one last run through his house to get rid of any lingering dust bunnies before Children’s Services appeared. No obvious dirt in the living room, he headed toward the kitchen, but his mind kept flying back to Ms. Brown.

She had the whole librarian thing going on, with her dark hair tied up in a bun and glasses resting on the end of her nose. Though, none of the women who worked at the local branch made his cock throb. Perhaps there was some truth to the naughty librarian tale. He wished.

Most women’s version of naughty did not come close to his. While the whole BDSM club scene didn’t appeal to him, he enjoyed a little bondage during foreplay. He’d spent months at a time deployed in the Middle East. While home, he appreciated the opportunity to date the pretty women who found a guy in uniform sexy. But once he fetched the cuffs, they bolted. They hadn’t even wanted to use them on him.

Ms. Brown was no girl, though. No more than a couple years his senior, she exuded experience with her seductive glances, her posture that plunged her cleavage into his line of sight, and that damn wiggle of her ass as she sashayed back to her car. She could teach him a thing or two. He yearned for the chance to find out.

No, his next lay could no longer be at the forefront of his mind. In less than an hour, he would become the father-figure to two impressionable young children. His sexual urges would have to take leave for the foreseeable future.

He’d been in his last month of deployment to Afghanistan when the call came in. And it took another day for his commander to reach him with the news. His brother-in-law had been killed in a car accident, leaving his niece and nephew orphans. And as much as he loved the Marine Corps—Semper Fi—he couldn’t let the kids be raised by strangers. They had no other family left.

Happy New Year! Jessica E. Subject’s 2015 In Review ~ Enter to WIN $10 GC!

Happy New Year 2016

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well after celebrating the New Year. It’s now 2016 and time for me to review my goals from last year and set some new ones.

At the beginning of last year, I’d hoped to have another 1Night Stand story published, have another audio book produced, write a story for an F/F anthology I’d been invited to be a part of, write Alien Attraction, finish Always Her Wingman, and write Alien Generations: Lindsay.

Well, here’s how I did….

My 8th 1Night Stand story released in April, called Her Alien Hero
I had three more audio books release, The Star Princess , Unknown Futures , and Beneath the Starry Sky
I wrote Cosmic Sutra , which released as part of the First Ladylove anthology
Alien Attraction released in November, completing the Alien Next Door series .  The complete collection is already available in print, and releases in ebook January 11.
Always Her Wingman has been shelved. I’m not sure for how long.
Alien Generations: Lindsay will not release. I’ve replotted this story with much help and conversations with Deborah Cooke and Zoe York. The new series will now be GALACTIC DEFENDERS, with the first book being BRYCE . I have started writing this story and will release it in 2016. Hopefully the second story in the series as well.
I wrote and released Taken by the Billionaire Alien Next Door
I put together a collection of my short stories and published them in the anthology Cosmic Desires .
In 2015, I self-published my first print books, with Cosmic Desires , Alien Adoration , and Alien Next Door: The Complete Series
I received the rights back to, and re-released Accidental Romance , Alien Lover , Crash Landing , and The Power of Three .
I also wrote Alien Kisses at Midnight , a short alien romance, and sent it to my newsletter subscribers on December 26, 2015.
I took a course through RWA with Stephanie Bond on plotting for romance. It has certainly helped. I took a course with Meredith Bond on formatting for ebook and print. Amazing. Both have changed the way I do things for the better.

Goals for 2016

Galactic Defenders ~ Coming in 2016!My major writing goal this year is to develop my Galactic Defenders series. I want to release Bryce , and have Yager written by the end of the year. There may be a couple short stories released in the mix as well.
After receiving the rights back to Made For Her , I am in the process of revising and expanding it to release this year.
After receiving the rights back to An Unexpected Return , I plan to revise and expand this story before releasing it later in the year.
MONTHLY SPECIALS ~ Each month, at least one of my stories will be marked down to 99¢. This doesn’t include those already selling at that price.
Blog/Website Revision ~ I am in the process of rebranding my website. It will happen gradually, but everything will start to look the same, and bleed into social media as well.
Blog Topics ~ While this started last year, it will continue into this year. While I will still have guest authors on my blog, most of the content will focus on my own books, and what I’m writing. I am hoping to include more fun posts as well, about sci-fi music, movies, television, books I’ve read, etc.
READ MORE! I didn’t read near enough books in 2015. While I did finish some, there were many more I started, but could not finish.

Here are my favorite titles I read or listened to in 2015:

Legend by Marie Lu

Reboot by Amy Tintera

The Martian by Andy Weir

Gravity by Melissa West

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancy

Stirring Up Dirty by Kacey Hammell

Marcus by Anna Hackett

Stranded with the Cyborg by Cara Bristol

The Taking by Kimberly Derting

Tell me, what are your goals for 2016?

Jessica E. Subject’s Weekly Writing Update ~ Last update of 2015

Jessica E. Subject's Writing Update ~ Find out what she's working on and what's releasing soon.

Hello! It’s Tuesday, and time for another update. This will be my last update of 2015. I started these updates in the summer of this year, at the encouragement of Deborah Cooke. Each week during the summer, a group of us authors had to report how much writing we did. It was a way to keep writing during the summer, and see how we progressed. Since then, I’ve finished two stories and re-released another. I’ve also started another that has been on my to-write list for a couple of years now. For a complete list of what I released in 2015, and my writing goals for 2016, visit my blog on January 1st. I’ll have my usual year end round up then.

BRYCE ~ I’m now at 9,265 words, for a total of 557 new words over the holidays.

MADE FOR HER ~ I didn’t add any words to this title.

Alien Next Door: The Complete Series by Jessica E. Subject

ALIEN NEXT DOOR: THE COMPLETE SERIES ~ The ebook is now available for pre-order. It will release January 11, 2016. You can pre-order for only $1.00 until the end of 2015 at All Romance and Kobo. It is $3.99 at other retailers. Plus, the print version is available at CreateSpace, Amazon US, Amazon UK, and Barnes & Noble.

GOALS FOR THE WEEK ~ I will write as many words as possible on Bryce, and work on revising Made For Her.

READING UPDATE ~ I finished reading Stranded with the Cyborg by Cara Bristol on my Kindle app. You can read my 5 star review here. I started reading The Taking by Kimberly Derting on my Kobo app, and finished it last night. Review will be posted on Goodreads soon. I’m pretty sure I know what I’m reading next, but I don’t like to announce my next reads until I’m well into them, just in case the book ends up being one I will not finish.

Please share what you have been up to this week. Are you reading or writing anything new? Any special books received over the holidays?

What’s the “Nerd Herd”? Find out in @LeaKirkWrites Top Ten List #scifi #romance

blog top ten 2016

Thank you for inviting me, Jessica! It’s a thrill to be here as a guest on your blog today.

As a debut author of sci-fi romance, I felt it would be fun to introduce myself by telling you a little bit about me. So, here are ten things you may not know about Lea Kirk:

I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was very young. I was nine when I acknowledged this dream to my parents by writing them a little story. Complete with pictures drawn in crayon.
When I was six years old, I’d put on the tunic top of my red knit pantsuit and my white go-go boots (don’t judge me, it was 1971for crying out loud) and I’d run through my parents’ house pretending to be Lieutenant Uhura.
#2 is my dad’s fault. He introduced me to Star Trek.
One of the first romances I read was by Bertrice Small when I was fifteen. My mom does not know, nor has she read any of Ms. Small’s books. Let’s keep this as our little secret, shall we?
At sixteen, I decided I wanted to write sci-fi romance, and began writing Prophecy, my debut book. Eventually, I set it aside to write other stories. It came back to me over thirty years later when I was in bed with 102-degree fever.
My muse is a pain in the a** because she forces me to get up and write even when I have a fever.
Lea is my middle name. Kirk is my grandmother’s maiden name. When I was in high school, I told my grandmother I would write under this pseudonym. I will never forget how her face lit up.
Lea is pronounced Lee.
My husband is not a space alien…as far as I know.
Collectively, I refer to my five kids as “The Nerd Herd”.

Thank you for dropping by Jessica’s blog today. It has been fun sharing a bit of myself here. I hope you’ll take a moment to check out Prophecy. I had so much fun writing this story. Watch for its sequel, Salvation, coming the summer of 2016!

blog about the author 2016

Lea KirkLea Kirk loves to transport her readers to other worlds with her romances of science fiction, fantasy, and time travel. Her debut book, Prophecy, is the first sci-fi romance in her three book series. She also has a time-travel romance, a dragon shape shifter romance, and another SFR not related to the Prophecy Series waiting in the wings.

Ms. Kirk lives in Northern California with her wonderful hubby of twenty-five years and their five kids (aka, the nerd herd). She’s also proud of her seven times great grandson. Apparently her stories will serve as the inspiration for James T. to join Star Fleet Academy. She learned this in the 1980’s when James sought out her counsel on where to find a pair of humpback whales.

Crazy Canuck New Year’s Blog Hop ~ December 27 to January 2 #giveaway #Canada

Crazy Canuck Blog Hop

Thank you so much to author Lisa Emme for organizing this hop!

9548982_sSince I started writing, I have learned that there are far more Canadian authors than I realized. And many of them within an hour driving distance away. I’m not talking about literary fiction or children’s book authors, which get the most media attention in this country, but those who write romance, and the multitude of sub-genres, like me.

Since I write mostly sci-fi romance, I’ve decided to feature books in the same sub-genre by some of the Canadian authors I know.

Adam by Eve Langlais   Releasing Rage by Cynthia Sax

Vikings in Space Zoe York   The Prometheus Project by Claire Delacroix

Plus, I’ve heard Kali Willows has one in the works…

For me, 2015 brought the end of my ALIEN NEXT DOOR series, three stories set in fictitious cities that are based on some of the places I’ve visited and lived in Ontario, Canada. The complete ebook collection is part of the Grand Prize for this hop.

In 2016, I’ll be working on a new series called GALACTIC DEFENDERS. While part of it will take place on Earth, a much larger part will take place on other planets. The first story is BRYCE.

The tagline for the series is… They were trained to fight aliens, not to fall in love.

I have two stories set in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. They are CELESTIAL SEDUCTION and HER ALIEN HERO. You can find them both in the AN ALIEN TO LOVE anthology….

Five HOT 1Night Stand stories with SEXY heroes from other planets in AN ALIEN TO LOVE by Jessica E. SubjectAN ALIEN TO LOVE

ISBN: 978-1-61333-845-2

Five HOT 1Night Stand stories about sexy heroes from other planets.

What do a librarian, a nurse, a director’s assistant, a housekeeper, and an orphan have in common? They all end up spending an evening with a gorgeous stranger. But, will one night lead to more, or will the women end up running away when they learn their sexy suitor comes from another planet? Find out in these five sensual 1Night Stand stories by sci-fi romance author, Jessica E. Subject.
