Jessica E. Subject’s Weekly Writing Update ~ Progress!
Hello! It’s Tuesday, and time for another update.
ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE is available again! You can get his New Adult Western Romance for only 99¢ here: All Romance, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Coffee Time Romance, Google Play, iBooks, Kobo, and Smashwords.
BRYCE ~ I’m still at 5, 416 words. No new words on this story this week.
ALIEN KISSES AT MIDNIGHT ~ This will be a New Years’ Eve short alien romance that will be FREE for my newsletter subscribers, and will be sent out between December 25, 2015 and January 1, 2016. If you’re not a subscriber, you can be one by joining the list here: http://eepurl.com/eX1Zw. I started at 628 words, and I’m now at 3685, for a total of 3,057 new words. Plus, I created my own cover for this story. What do you think?
GOALS FOR THE WEEK ~ I will write as many words as possible on Bryce and/or Alien Kisses At Midnight.
TELEVISION UPDATE ~ I’m watching Bones on Netflix. Plus, there are some new movies there I’m looking forward to watching. On the CTV Go app, I’m watching Quantico, and any other shows I like that I miss during its regularly scheduled time.
MOVIE UPDATE ~ I watched two movies over the weekend. At the movie theater, I watched Spectra. There wasn’t much to choose from in town, and I’d already seen The Martian. I think I should have seen it again. While the opening scene of Spectra was good, it didn’t hold my attention, and I dozed off several times. The next day at home, I watched Jurassic World. This movie was on my must-watch list. Even though I was at home and very comfortable, I stayed awake for the entire movie and enjoyed it. I want to buy it now, instead of just renting it, so I can watch it again and again.
Please share what you have been up to this week….

And brought him closer…
Jake, the farm hand who lives down the road, refuses to let Leanne give up on her goals. He remains by her side throughout her healing. But, when he confesses his true intentions, their friendship takes a drastic turn.
If only she’d known before she lost her arm.

I will e-sign any of my titles through:
“We broke up Saturday night, before my…accident,” she said. “I want to remove him from my contact list.”
Tina handed the instrument to her and Leanne thumbed through her contacts to find Scott’s number. With the press of the delete button and the resulting beep, she erased him from her life forever.
Tina gathered her in a hug, rubbing her back. “I’m sorry.”
She reveled in the fact her friend didn’t say I told you so or tell her she deserved better. Tina was simply there, everything she needed at the moment. Loosening her grip, Leanne took a deep breath and leaned back on the bed. “Thank you for being here. And thanks for not being put off by the fact I’m no longer whole.”
“Why would I be anywhere else?” Tina gripped her arm again. “You’re still the same person. So what if you’re one hand less.” A tear trickled down her cheek. “Anyone who can’t see you’re still the same beautiful Leanne is an ass.”
“I agree.”
Leanne turned her head toward the doorway at the sound of the familiar husky voice. But the sight was not what she was used to at all. Instead of his dirty and smelly farm coveralls, Jake had on a T-shirt that stretched across his ripped chest, and his blue jeans hugged all the right places. He’d left the ball cap somewhere else, revealing the wave in his dark brown hair. When had he grown up from the teen she remembered in high school? His blue eyes were fixed on her as if she’d disappear if he glanced away.
But she wasn’t going anywhere. He might have saved her life, but she’d never be the same. Her dream of taking over the farm was shattered. She’d never work by his side again.

They hugged the curve of his ass ~ #MySexySaturday from ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE #NewAdult #Western
Hello and welcome to the 118th week of My Sexy Saturday.
Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.
Today’s theme is…
THEIR SEXY GAZE
Here’s seven from ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE, which re-releases on Monday. It’s a New Adult Western Romance and is only 99¢. Enjoy!
Set-up: Leanne lost her hand in a farming accident, but the farm hand who she grew up with, and who lives down the road will not let her give up. This is the first time she is back in the barn after being released from the hospital.
Jake grabbed the handles. “You can feed the girls. Nothing’s changed in the feeding schedule, so let’s get on it.”
Feeding. Yes, she could do that much. Two scoops for Donna, four for Lucy, all the way up and down the row then over to the calf pens. Jake pushed the cart while she filled the mangers. Maybe she could be of some use, but Jake could have done everything she’d done so far by himself. And probably much faster. Why was he so determined to have her out there with him?
She stared at Jake in his barn clothes, suddenly aware of how his pants hugged the curve of his ass. Seeing him in this new light didn’t help matters, either. With one look or a simple touch, he left her heart fluttering. Working so close to him would only leave her wanting more. Why hadn’t he made his feelings known earlier? Was he pretending in order to make her feel better about her amputation?
A throat cleared behind her. “Looking at something interesting?”
She spun around, her cheeks burning. “Are you ready to start milking, Daddy?”
He crossed his arms, eyebrows raised. “Yes, come with me into the milking room. Jake can put the food away.”
Without a backward glance, she followed him. He didn’t seem impressed at catching her staring at Jake. Her father had admitted to not liking her last boyfriend, but their farmhand was practically family. Maybe that was the problem. What if things didn’t work out? She glanced back at Jake then shook her head. Working with him would be too awkward if they dated then broke up. She’d best keep her inappropriate thoughts about him locked away.

(rated R for language/situations):
Sawyer pressed the young man up against the closed side of the double doors, lifting him by his neck. Sawyer knew how to scare without really hurting. And it all came rushing back to him now. “Get out of my house,” he said, keeping his tone conversational. “Don’t ever come near my house again. If I see you here, or smell your muskrat breath anywhere near me or my house or my daughter you will need a doctor, not a lawyer. We clear?” He put a bit more pressure on the kid’s throat, knowing it for effect and nothing more, getting a twinge of regret for giving up his old life for one at a desk, helping prosecutors build cases against fraternity punks like this one before being forced out of that job thanks to…no. Not tonight.
He let go. The kid crumpled the floor, coughing, staring up at Sawyer with the sort of fear that made him feel whole again. Standing, arms crossed, putting the full effect of his six foot five, broad shouldered, ex-cop’s body into his “get the hell out and stay out” message, Sawyer watched as the no-doubt future politician, or perhaps smarmy English professor with a penchant for fucking other men’s wives, scrabbled for the door knob and threw himself out into the dark front lawn.
He sighed and turned. Kelly lingered on the bottom step, tears standing in her eyes. “Are you…hurt?”
She glared at him. “No, Dad. I told you. I’m still pure as the driven fucking snow. Christ.”
“Get a shower,” he barked, unable to stand it another minute. “Then come downstairs. I want to show you some houses we’re gonna go look at together.”
“I don’t give half a rat’s ass where we move.”
He swallowed the ugly retort, horrified that he would even think such mean things about his own daughter. But she was like some kind of possessed evil demon anymore. And it got worse every day. Times like this he hated his dead wife even more for leaving him with this mess. Among other things. He took a long, shuddery breath. “Get a shower. Come back downstairs. I got drumsticks.”
Her eyes flickered. The corner of her chapped, swollen looking lips lifted. He crossed his arms over his chest, thinking, “point to dad.”
“Fine,” she said, flouncing up the steps and giving the bathroom door a solid slam for good measure. He sat, flipping through the options on his computer, his appraiser’s mind already evaluating and tsk-tsking over how grossly overpriced everything was. Figures. He should have made this move last year.
When Kelly appeared, her face scrubbed clean and healthily pink, her dark brown hair scraped back in a ponytail, her eyes bright he felt something loosen in his chest. Still seated, he held out an arm, willing her to come to him, to let him hang onto her a minute or two. She did, lingering nearly fifteen entire seconds before pulling away and rubbing her eyes, hiding her emotion from him. He let himself have the outsized sensation of victory.
“I’ll take a vanilla one,” he said, pointing to the freezer. She pulled out the box of her all time favorite, disgustingly processed frozen desserts. “Sit. Look with me.”
She handed him one and they spent a few minutes thumbing through the listings he’d picked out, smaller houses, smaller lawns, real start-over attempts to let go of the horror of the past few years. When they’d eaten the last bit of chocolate-filled, over-sweet cones, she poured them each a glass of water. He drank his, waiting until she finished to ask The Question.
“So, what did I interrupt earlier?”
She rolled her eyes and got up for a refill. “Nothing. He wanted me to give him a blowjob. I wasn’t about to do that, but then you showed up while he was trying to convince me.” She shrugged, the gorgeous future woman in her shining through so brightly it made Sawyer’s teeth ache. “Gross,” she muttered around the rim of the water glass.
He cleared his throat, trying to find words, or even thoughts that might turn into words for this moment.
“I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’ve done it before. He’s gross. Not giving a blow job.”
“Oh, uh…” He clenched his fist around the drumstick wrapper. “Well…”
She grinned, then kissed his forehead and ruffled his hair. “I’m kidding. God, you should see your face right now, Daddy-o.”
“But he was…uh… had his…um…”
“Yeah. I was giving him a hand job. But it was mutual. It’s what teenagers do. Don’t tell me you didn’t.”
Her extreme bluntness was like someone stabbing him between the eyes and turning the knife. He hesitated. “Okay, well. It’s why we got you on the pill.” His voice was hoarse. He thought he might very well puke beer and ice cream all over the floor.
“Yep. And don’t think I didn’t notice the box of condoms you stashed in my panty drawer, Dad.”
“Yes, well…um…” He wiped a hand down his face. She cupped his lightly bearded cheek. “I…”
“It’s okay. I’m fine. I’m not doing anything I don’t want to do. And when I do want to, I have that Cosco sized supply of rubbers thanks to you.” She yawned and stretched. Sawyer closed his eyes, willing the images of her with some boy’s hand down her pants out of his head. It made him want to put his fist through the wall despite his self-satisfied feelings about buying her rubbers. “’Night,” she said, blowing him a kiss and heading upstairs in her ratty blue robe and thick socks.
Sawyer sat a long time, staring at his tightly clenched fists and cursing his life, before hauling himself up and over to the couch where he’d been sleeping since Helen had died. He pretended he didn’t, always getting up well before Kelly did. It was but one of the many reasons he had to get the hell out of this house for good. Right before passing out, his gut churning with the unwelcome frozen preservatives, he touched his left ring finger with his thumb. Finding the new nothing there, when it had taken him thirteen years to get used to the something, he rolled over and squeezed his eyes shut.

After meeting Lexy, he finds it very easy to fall for her in her female form, but that’s only half the equation. Lexy is Cedecian. Every month, she changes genders. Huv suffers a sexual identity crisis as he struggles to accept that the woman he loves may also be the man he loves. For an Allurian who is used to being strictly straight, that’s an adjustment Huv isn’t sure he can make.

Alien Sex 108: Glynn and Deina
(with bonus stories)
Don’t miss the exciting conclusion to Allie Ritch’s Alien Sex Ed series!
Deina has been dating Glynn for months, ever since she met him at an Alien Sex Ed class. She expects him to pop the question. Instead he asks her to have his baby…or at least try. As a Semhym, Glynn must find a woman with just the right chemistry to help him spill his seed before he hits his race’s version of male menopause. He thinks Deina may be the one, but he wants to be sure. In order to win her over, he’ll have to gamble for the highest stakes of all: sex, love, and the rest of their lives.
Also enjoy the two bonus stories included in this volume. In “Alien Sex Therapy,” Cedecians morph from male to female and back again. That makes their race truly bisexual, but Cai has never made love as a woman. Maybe a hot new relationship with Maddox, the four-armed Brachoi in the apartment across from her, is the perfect sex therapy. And in “Alien Sex Life,” Valene is madly in love with her fierce Nimanian, Apax, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a little nervous about her impending marriage. Nimanian custom dictates that they have sex for the first time in view of their wedding guests, and she can’t decide whether that’s terrifying or kinky. Can these lovers negotiate a life together, or are their worlds too different?

She’s an alien! #MidWeekTease from ALIEN ATTRACTION #newrelease #scifirom
Happy Wednesday! It’s time for my Mid Week Tease post! Mid Week Tease is an author meme started and hosted by author Sandra Bunino, where authors share snippets from their recent releases, back list titles, and works-in-progress (WIPs). So, please check out my tease and visit the other participating authors listed below.
Before getting on with the tease, I wanted to take a moment and remember the soldiers who fought and fight for our freedom.
For today’s post, I’m sharing an excerpt from ALIEN ATTRACTION. It is the third book in the Alien Next Door series, and released this past Monday.
In this excerpt, Chal has returned to his ship after his date with Angela was interrupted by an alien artifact. He is with his brother, Slade, trying to figure out why she would have it. Enjoy!
Slade chewed on a sprig of some plant grown in the ship’s greenhouse. “There’s got to be something I’m missing.”
Chal took another look, watching Angela hug those around her. When she reached the older male, she paused a little longer before he passed the indicator to her. She seemed reluctant to accept it from him. But when she did, she tossed it in the trunk of her vehicle.
Slade jumped off his seat, flinging the hover chair across the room. “That’s it! The eyes.”
“What do you mean?” He leaned in closer. “Her eyes look the same as any Terran.”
“Not hers, dumbass. Her father’s.”
Switching his focus didn’t help. Chal couldn’t understand what the man’s eyes revealed. “I still don’t see.”
“Gods, with how observant you are, maybe I should have been the one to go to Earth.” Slade pointed to the older man’s eyes. “Watch closely. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.”
Chal stared, waiting for some revelation. And then he saw it. “They’re black. That means…. No way. They all died.”
“Obviously not.” Slade slapped him on the back. “Guessing that man’s age, I would say he was a young child when his kind perished. Somehow, he got off the ship before the illness spread through.”
“And Angela….” His mind fumbled over itself trying to process the news.
“Your girlfriend is a Lisivian, or at least half. And that means you’re going back to Earth.”
Chal’s heart raced. “But you said—”
“I know, but that was before I realized who we were dealing with.” Slade guided him to the single-person transporter in the corner. “You need to learn more. Get close to her and her family. Find out how he’s survived among the Terrans for so long. And if he can help us. That information will surely convince Gille and the council to move ahead in our plans to migrate to Earth.”
If what Slade believed was true, sure. But that meant returning to Angela, experiencing their strange bond, then leaving her again to help his people.

Jessica E. Subject’s Weekly Writing Update ~ A new release and a re-release
Hello! It’s Tuesday, and time for another writing update. Plus, a reading and writing music update.
ALIEN ATTRACTION has released! You can get it from All Romance, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Coffee Time Romance, Google Play, iBooks, Kobo, and Smashwords.
ALIEN ADORATION is now available in print. It is one of the titles I will be bringing with me to conventions. So, if you are going to Romancing the Capital next year, I will have it there. I will only put the next two in print if there is enough interest. You can find it at CreateSpace, Amazon.com, and Amazon.co.uk. It should be available at Amazon.ca soon.
ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE is available for pre-order! I recently received the rights back to this New Adult Western Romance, and after some small edits and changing of the front and back matter, I’m re-releasing it. It will be available November 16, and is only 99¢. You can pre-order now from All Romance, Amazon, Google Play, iBooks, Kobo, and Smashwords. It should be available at Coffee Time Romance and Barnes & Noble soon.
BRYCE ~ I started at 4,645 words and finished today at 5, 416 words, for a total 771 new words.
ALIEN KISSES AT MIDNIGHT ~ This will be a New Years’ Eve short alien romance. I’m still at 628 words. No new words here.
GOALS FOR THE WEEK ~ I will write as many words as possible on Bryce and/or Alien Kisses At Midnight.
READING UPDATE ~ I finished MARCUS (Hell Squad) by Anna Hackett. I loved it so much I bought the rest of the series. Not sure if I’ll read the next in the series, or one of the many other fabulous sci-fi romances I have waiting to be read on my reading apps. With my @Voice app, I’m still listening to SURVIVING OUTBOUND by Liza O’Connor. It’s especially interesting right now, as they’re leaving for Terranue.
MUSIC UPDATE ~ Many times, music can inspire a mood, scene, or even an entire story. I recently bought Hedley’s new album, Hello, as well as a couple other songs I enjoy from other artists. Though, I’m still working on the playlist for Bryce.
Please share what inspires you…

Release Day Thank Yous for ALIEN ATTRACTION #newrelease #BookBirthday
As with any release, there are many people to thank, many who help behind the scenes in bringing a book to you. As always, I must thank my husband and two children, for allowing me time to write, to do what I love. For this story, I need to thank my fabulous cover artist, Fantasia Frog Designs, for this wonderful cover to coincide with the other two in the series. And thank you to my amazing editor, Valerie Mann, from Wizards in Publishing.
This week, and throughout November, Alien Attraction will be featured on many blogs, so, thank you to all the bloggers who have agreed to host me. I truly appreciate your support!
A HUGE thank you to you, my readers, for your support and encouragement, for your reviews, and letters wondering when I was going to write about Angela. I’m sorry it took me two years to finish this series, but I have, and I hope you enjoy Angela’s story. His touch left her tongue numb ~ #MySexySaturday from ALIEN ATTRACTION #scifi #romance
Hello and welcome to the 117th week of My Sexy Saturday.
Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.

WHILE YOU WERE SEXY
Here’s seven from ALIEN ATTRACTION, the third story in my Alien Next Door series, which releases Monday. Plus, don’t forget the first book in the series is FREE, and the second book is 99¢ through November 9th. Enjoy!
Set-up: Angela escapes an ex-boyfriend and his friend by rushing into an elevator with her sexy neighbor. After a pause and spark-inducing touch in front of her apartment door, she gets some courage to ask him out.
“Go out?” He gave her a deer-in-headlights look.
She sucked in a heavy breath and glanced away. She’d read too much into their conversation. “Forget I said anything.” Brushing past him, she rushed to her apartment.
“No, wait.” He caught up to her, placing his palm over the lock as she tried to stick the key in. “I think you misinterpreted what I meant.”
Spinning, she stared at his chest. His arms encircled her, yet made no contact. She glanced up at him, struggling to catch her breath.
He set a hand on her shoulder then ran his thumb along her jaw line. “It’s been a long few days and I don’t feel like going out anywhere.”
She had another idea, but wasn’t sure she could speak. His simple touch had left her tongue numb. “Come over to my place later then. I’ll make dinner, and we can watch a movie here. If you fall asleep on the couch, I’ll drape a blanket over you. You won’t have far to go when you do wake up.” Gods, could she sound more desperate?
His lips curved into a wry smile. “I thought you already had plans tonight. Isn’t that what you told the other guy?”

To live among the people of Earth ~ Another sneak peek from ALIEN ATTRACTION #scifi #romance
ALIEN ATTRACTION, the third book in my ALIEN NEXT DOOR series releases November 9th. Here is a sneak peek from the first chapter. Another will be posted tomorrow. Plus, don’t forget the first book in the series is FREE, and the second book is 99¢ through November 9th. Enjoy!
Chapter One continued…
Cosmos! His second day in this city and Chal had already come face-to-face with five locals. Not exactly low-key as he’d promised his brother, second-in-command of the Memonon. Slade agreed their kind could not survive many more cycles on their aging ship, and unless they booked it to another solar system, the third planet from this system’s sun remained their only refuge.
Chal had always yearned to live amongst the people of Earth—beings so close in physiology to his own—and show his kind they could stop hiding beyond the system’s asteroid belt and live with so much more freedom. So, Slade had snuck him off the ship, transported him millions of miles to the blue-and-green sphere. Unfortunately, Chal’s stay in what was called Russia hadn’t turned out as he’d planned. A group of thugs had hunted him down, their boss hoping to dissect him and sell him in pieces on some kind of black market. But North America had a reputation as the home of the free, a place where people could live together in peace, regardless of their differences. Hopefully the same would hold true for his own kind.
Closing the apartment door behind him, he leaned against it, guilt enveloping him after the confrontation he’d had with his neighbor. She’d seemed…bubbly upon first seeing him. When he’d told her to avoid the mail mix-up happening again, her emotions had changed, happiness evaporating into anger and contempt. His fault. But he couldn’t avoid his rudeness. If he wanted to stay undetected, he couldn’t make nice by having relationships with humans. Not yet. Maybe never. A lonely life, but necessary until he could convince the rest of his kind to join him on the planet.
Yet, there was something familiar about the fair-haired young woman named Angela. He hadn’t yet met her in Alerto, but had she followed him from Moscow, changed her identity to track him down? He couldn’t be too sure. And he’d have to keep an eye on her, at least from a distance. Best to be prepared than caught off guard. But, if she simply turned out to be his attractive next door neighbor, he’d use the information he gathered to win her affection once his kind arrived on Earth. Because the best way to blend in was to become one of them. And from what he’d observed, that meant claiming a mate.
