Defining the word “LOVE” by @Liza0Connor ~ SURVIVING SOJOURN blog tour #scifi #romance
The word LOVE is used to express a great many varied topics such as
I Love: pizza, football, a superstar I’ve never met in person, books, movies, etc.
Then there is the even shorter love: Love the dress, the comment, your shoes, the look, the style…
Odd that the same word is used for expressing intense emotions often enduring for years, even a lifetime.
In my Multiverse Series, Zousan loves his daughter, Athena and she loves her father and that bond will last for many billion years, even when she shows up with a baby.
Second has been in love with Athena from first sight, but knowing Zousan’s protective nature, he tries his hardest to see her as death incarnate. But the night they all get drunk ends with him waking in her bed. While neither can remember what happened, he fears they made love, because that is what his body always wants to do with Athena.
Marybell and Pane unquestionably love each other, but since she is an organic computer and he a furry orangutan/God their love remains platonic, although Pane often caresses Marybell’s monitor.
Knowing Pane’s need for physical love, Marybell convinces Zousan to purchase a Tea Cup Puppy that can wake Pane with kisses. The little fellow becomes Pane’s surrogate child whom he loves dearly.
Pane also loves the sentients he shepherds over. At first he worried this would get him into trouble since having any emotional connection with the sentients was previously frowned upon. However, Zousan has now realized that loving his sentients only improves Pane’s ability to teach them to care for themselves.
The Giant Sargon bull adores the human Saran. If their species were compatible for mating (which they aren’t) Blue would want no female but Saran, which would get me into serious trouble with the ‘no bestiality’ rules of publishing. Instead, their love is safely platonic.
The Soulbond of Three is a single soul so large that it requires 3 bodies. The three hold different parts of their soul, so they have different personalities and one isn’t even a human anymore. They love each other greatly. In fact, when Tarmara was murdered, their intense love held her to them as a spirit. Saran and Dmitri make unusual children that are born with all their memories installed. This means their two sons, whom they love dearly, had to be grown at birth into young men. For no one with adult thoughts wishes to be in a useless baby body.
The second son, Sojourn falls in love with Emperor’s daughter. As a commoner, he hasn’t a chance, but that doesn’t change his feelings. In Princess Shakana’s eyes Sojourn is not ‘common’. He is the future of the Multiverses. The prophecies say so. Finally, they admit their feeling for one another and are soulbonded into one.
The first born Ky has known who he would marry since he read it in a prophecy, and the young girl, True, does not disappoint his expectations. Only the council has asked him to wait a few years before they marry, which he agrees to until True dies. Only with the power of true love and the promise to marry her at once, can Ky call her back to her body. Once married they bond into a single soul and he discovers how special his wife is.
Yes, love is the one thing all sentients possess, even in the future. Unfortunately some sentient’s love has regressed into ‘I would love to devour you’—thoughts of the direwolves from planet GRRR who slaughtered their sentient sheep or Brenner’s ‘I would love to make myself rich and powerful on the backs of others.’
Fortunately most sentients still have a strong sense of true love even when we go outbound and they are the future of our worlds….
Surviving Sojourn
by Liza O’Connor
An alien species is removing human colonies from planets, but to where, no one knows. Sojourn, along with the Emperor’s daughter and their crew, must find this unknown species and negotiate a treaty before the Empire’s army declares war on all non-human races.
Those who do not follow the Path of Light would prefer to kill all the non-human sentient beings before they are even aware they are under attack.
Matters turn bleak for the Path of Light when Sojourn’s ship crash-lands on Terranue before their journey even begins.
Zousan smiled as he turned from his monitor. “Marybell, I have a great wish to reward Pane for his extraordinary work getting the alien bias removed from the books so Drogan could return to Captain Longfellow’s service.
“He did more than that,” the sentient computer replied. “By not placing Drogan on the crew list, your father has been under the presumption he died and thus has made no further attempts to kill the poor fellow.”
Zousan had wished he’d known what an ass his father intended to be. Then he would have bothered writing a trillion rules to stop his father from cheating. But no, he mistakenly believed he and his brothers as sisters had been successful with their intervention and his father had realized he needed to stop controlling all of their lives. Given all the troubles his father had plagued him with, he worried what happened to Poseidon’s fishing trip and Hade’s desire for a warm climate. He doubted his father had played fair with them anymore than he had with Zousan.
“What does Pane want more than anything?”
“To be woken with kisses,” she replied.
“I thought you loved Pane?” Zousan challenged.
“I do!”
“Then why did you suggest I find him another woman to warm his bed?”
“I suggested no such thing! I said he wanted to be woken with kisses.”
“And how do you propose we achieve the matter? I guarantee you no female on this ship will accept the job.”
“Well, I would, if I could, but I can’t. But I have found a cute little tea cup poodle to do the trick.”
“There’s a planet with sentient tea cups?” Zousan asked. He was definitely demoting whoever made tea cups sentient.
“Actually one your idiots did try to make sentient tea cups, to prank you, but when he poured the hot water into the cups, I made it so hot the cups melted, spilling hot water all over the idiot.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about this before?”
“We weren’t on speaking terms back then. You preferred your interface.”
“That was a huge mistake on my part. One in which I’m most thrilled to have changed.”
“Thank you. I much prefer our current relationship as well.”
“So, back to the original topic. What type of Tea Cups are able to kiss Pane awake?”
“It’s a puppy. A very tiny puppy. So small, he’ll fit in a tea cup. Which means Pane can keep him in his pocket so he doesn’t have to worry about the little fellow when he’s working.”
“Then let’s get him a teacup puppy. He’s more than earned those kisses.

He couldn’t stop watching in today’s #MidWeekTease from COSMIC DESIRES #erotica #99cents
Happy Wednesday! It’s time for today’s Mid Week Tease post! Mid Week Tease is an author meme started and hosted by author Sandra Bunino, where authors share snippets from their recent releases, back list titles, and works-in-progress (WIPs). So, please check out my tease and visit the other participating authors listed below.
For today’s post, I’m going to share an excerpt from COSMIC DESIRES, a collection of sci-fi and paranormal erotica stories, which released this past Saturday.
Setup: This excerpt comes from the story Crash Landing, which is a MMF sci-fi story. Cael’s ship crashed on Earth, and he woke up in an unknown environment. He hears a noise that intrigues him and searches for the source. Enjoy!
He found an opening in the wall—unnoticed earlier when he’d been in a rush to relieve himself—leading to a narrow hallway with a door at the end. Turning the handle, he rejoiced he hadn’t been locked inside like a prison, and set out in search of the fucking couple. No one would have rescued him or treated his wounds if they wanted him dead. At least he hoped.
Slinking through a wider corridor, he peeked to his left and right, waiting for more noise to indicate which direction he should go.
“Oh yeah, baby. You know how to suck it.” A man this time, his words coming out as a long sigh.
Cael grabbed his own dick and squeezed. He wanted to at least watch the couple before he jizzed. On his planet, sex was limited to mating couples and confined to the cubiculums at Narien Stadium. But the security posted outside hadn’t stopped him from sneaking through the vents to watch the fornication.
He rushed to the right, his rod too hard to wait. The slurping, sucking, and cries of pleasure continued as he reached the entrance behind which the action took place. The door ajar, he dared a quick glimpse into the room. With a gasp, he stepped back into the hall, but could not take his eyes off the sight in front of him.
With her rounded pink ass and swollen sex folds in full view, a woman went to work sucking off a man. The musky scent of her desire wound through his nasal passages and drew him closer. She rested on her hands and knees on a platform, while the guy kneeled in front of her. But unlike any beings he had ever seen on the vids of Earth, the guy had blue skin. Not his deep, almost indigo shade, but lighter, closer to the color of the water he’d landed in. Long blond hair flowed over his shoulders, onto his muscular chest.
The man held the woman’s shoulders with his webbed hands—yes, webbed hands—drawing her on and off his dick. “You have the mouth of an angel.” He threw his head back and thrust faster and faster between her lips.
The sight stimulated Cael. They weren’t trying to make babies; it seemed they were having sexual relations for pleasure. He yearned not only to bury his face in the wet pussy in front of him, but to taste the man’s blue dick, feel it inside of him. Back on Narien, he’d crafted his own devices made from the soft, flimsy bark of the totmos plant, to experience the pleasure both men and women felt in the stadium, why they cried out during mating, but never seemed injured. And learn he had, anxious to be ready when he reached his thirtieth year and was allowed to mate. He’d turned that age a half year ago, with no one on his ship to be his partner. Would he finally have an opportunity?
When the man lowered his head again, his brilliant blue eyes flashed open, fixing on Cael.
Oh shit. But he couldn’t move. He couldn’t stop watching.
The man slowed his movements to long drawn out strokes, but didn’t stop. “It seems our guest has finally woken up.”
“And?” the woman mumbled around his cock.
“He appears healed.” The man winked at him. “And from the hard-on he’s sporting, very anxious to join in.”

Jessica E. Subject’s Weekly Writing Update ~ Who is Bryce?
Hello! Woo-hoo! It’s the first week of October! I love this month. Though, it didn’t start off so well, with me getting an eye infection, and my son coming down with a stomach virus. I think we’re over it all though. Thank goodness! And now onto the writing update…
Cosmic Desires has released, and it’s available for the special release week price of 99¢ USD at All Romance, Amazon, Coffee Time Romance, Google Play, or Kobo. This special price ends October 9th. Thank you to all those who helped make this box set a category bestseller at All Romance! You all rock! You can also get the print right now from CreateSpace, Amazon US and Amazon UK.
Alien Attraction is with my editor. I’m aiming for a release date of October 26.
BRYCE ~ I’ve had a rough start with the first chapter of this story. I’ve ripped it out three times. But, now I think I’ve got it the way I want. There are 981 words in the alien hunter manuscript, of which 680 are actually story. While I work on this story, I’m also working on the Pinterest board for it. I’m not ready to show it yet, but I can tell you that Tom Welling is the inspiration for Bryce, and Angie Harman is the inspiration for Lindsay.
GOALS FOR THE WEEK ~ I will write more of Bryce’s story. I will aim for 2500 words, but with it being Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, I’m not sure how close I’ll come to that goal.
Movie Mention – I was so excited to see The Martian this weekend. Of all the sci-fi movies to release this year, this was the one I wanted to see the most. I’d already listened to the audio book and loved it. The movie is fabulous! Full of action, suspense, and so much humor. If you don’t get a chance to see the movie, check out the audio book, or book. I will tell you, that there is even more for Mark Watney to worry about in the book than there is in the movie.
So, what are you up to this week? Any recommendations?

She’s about to step into an inferno ~ WAKING BEAUTY by D.L. Jackson @Dlaree69 #1NS #LGBT #military
Letter to readers from D. L. Jackson:
First there was Cinderella Wore Combat Boots, about a female Marine soon to retire. She’s not ready to take the step, but has no option. Uncle Sam is about to give her a shove into the civilian world and she’s scared to face the unknown alone.
Followed by My Boogie Woogie Bugle Guy, a story about loss and discovering, with the right person by your side, you can get through anything.
Then, in Being Prince Charming, I bring you a story about empty nesters and embracing the things that are important to us before they are gone.
Beauty and the Brigadier brings you a tale of two mature adults, who discover love doesn’t end at fifty, and neither does attraction.
Finally, I bring you a story of two women hiding from who they are. One a combat helicopter pilot who finds out “don’t ask, don’t tell” is no protection from old school beliefs. And another who feels she can’t have both her career and identity. I hope you enjoy the latest installment in my military 1Night Stand series, Waking Beauty.
Blurb:
Once upon a time, a beautiful combat helicopter pilot crashed to the earth. For weeks she lies sleeping, waiting for her princess to wake her from her slumber.
Chris Carlson, her heroine and a shy school teacher, comes to her rescue, by contacting Madame Eve to make all her dreams come true. Little does she know, the one magical kiss that wakes beauty will also start a snowball reaction, one which will change her life forever.
Sometimes, life’s greatest challenges also bring the biggest blessings, and when you walk through fire, it makes you appreciate what you fought for so much more.
Chris is about to step into an inferno.
Chris pulled up in front of the hospital and reached into the center console of her Jeep to pull out the invitation.
Congratulations,
Your date has been arranged. You can meet her at 325 Parkside Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, room 202A. I understand this is rather unconventional, and most dates don’t meet until the 1Night Stand, but this preliminary meeting is necessary. When you are ready to proceed, I will forward more details.
Sincerely,
Madame Eve
No name. No picture. Nothing else to tell her what Madame Eve had planned. Did her date have the details of where they were going and what they were doing? And what did she mean by when you are ready to proceed?
This had to be some kind of mistake. The building didn’t look like any kind of residence she’d seen. Well, not in the traditional sense.
Maybe her date worked here? She read the cream-colored card again and flicked her thumb back and forth across the edge. With a sigh, she tossed it onto the passenger seat. Okay…right address. So, what are you waiting for? This is what you’ve wanted your entire life.
She opened the door and slid out. A nurse, pushing a wheelchair with a double amputee who wore dog tags, approached, stopping her cold. Attractive. Ice seemed to grip Chris, gluing her soles to the parking lot. She wanted to jump back in the Jeep and run, but, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t move, let alone breathe.
“Good morning,” the nurse said and continued on by.
“Morning.” The tension leaked from her shoulders, flowing away. Chris blinked and then twisted to watch them go. The woman in bright-pink scrubs wheeled her patient toward a mini-park off to the side, without looking back. No. The nurse didn’t look like what she’d described as her ideal woman. Too…girly. Silly to assume her date would come out to meet her with a witness. Oh hell. She hadn’t even made it to the front door, and she’d already freaked. This didn’t bode well at all.
She ran her sweaty palms down the front of her denim shorts and took a deep breath, replenishing her courage. Time to stop pretending—hiding. “I can do this.” Chris fisted her hands at her sides. A public location. She surveyed the area, taking it all in. Everywhere around her—people.Seriously? She’d wanted to take baby steps into the same-sex dating world, come out of the closet slowly. Had to. Her career depended on it, and she’d told Madame Eve she needed to be discreet.
So why here? There couldn’t be a more public place. Her stomach churning, she swallowed the lump forming in her throat. Why am I doing this?
No matter what people said, the support gays and lesbians received from the stars and media didn’t mean anything in small town America. In her world, kindergarten teachers weren’t lesbians. She’d struggled with this tug-of-war between her professional and personal life for four years, until her sister came right out and told her she knew.
D. L. Jackson is an award-winning writer of urban fantasy, science fiction, military romance and erotic romance. She loves to incorporate crazy plot twists, comedy and the unexpected into her worlds. As a U.S. Army veteran, she naturally adores men in uniform and feels the world could always use more. She does her part by incorporating as many sexy soldiers in her novels as she can. When she isn’t writing or running the roads, you can often find her online chatting with her peers and readers. Grab a cup of iced coffee, pull up your virtual chair and say hi. She loves emails and blog visits from her readers.

Their naughty threesome #MySexySaturday excerpt from COSMIC DESIRES #erotica

Here’s seven from COSMIC DESIRES, which released today!
The ebook is available for a special release week price of 99¢, but will go up to the regular price of $2.99 after that.
It is also available in print.
Setup: This is from the story The Power of Three. In this excerpt, Delayna and Bo agree to include Oscar in their bedroom fun.
Delayna spun around, rising onto all fours to face Oscar. “Does this work for you?”
Oscar caught her sly grin along with her wink. Oh, she’s a naughty one.
“Much better.” Bo rammed into her from behind, grasping her hips and grinding his body against hers with incessant rhythm, as if showing off his prowess.
Oscar grasped his dick and stroked himself, eager to get off. The man did have moves. Yet, as much as he enjoyed watching them fuck, he yearned to be involved.
Delayna lifted a hand off the bed and crooked a finger at him, licking her lips. With two strides, he stood facing her. If she was willing, he wouldn’t refuse. She grabbed his shaft and drew him past her lips. His knees grew weak; it had been too long since he’d been inside anyone’s sweet mouth.
She sucked him into her moist heat until he hit the back of her throat. Then she swallowed him deeper.
Oh gods!

Meet Penelope, Terra United’s youngest ambassador ~ STRANDED WITH THE CYBORG @CaraBristol
Meet Penelope from Stranded with the Cyborg by Cara Bristol
Name: Penelope Isabella Aaron
Age: 25
Past history: Advanced degrees in interplanetary relations. Former First Daughter of Terra United.
Current Occupation: Terra United’s youngest ambassador to the Association of Planets.
Her goal: Convince the isolationist Xenians to join the AOP. It will be a big feather in her cap and will prove to everyone that she earned her position and wasn’t named ambassador because her mother is the former president.
Her biggest opposition: Getting stuck with an interfering bodyguard after being threatened by terrorists.
Her “hell no!” moment: Finding out her bodyguard is her old nemesis, “Hardass” Mann.
STRANDED WITH THE CYBORG
by Cara Bristol
Penelope Aaron, the former Terran president’s daughter, regrets how she got Agent Brock Mann booted from the security force. But now that she’s an interplanetary ambassador about to embark on her first diplomatic mission, she still doesn’t want him tagging along. Especially since he seems to be stronger, faster, more muscled, and sexier than she remembers. And pretending to be her husband? This mission couldn’t get more impossible!
Ten years ago Penelope Isabella Aaron had been a pain in Brock Mann’s you-know-what. Much has changed in a decade: “PIA” as he code-named her, has grown up and is about to attend her first Alliance of Planets summit conference, and Brock has been transformed into a cyborg after a near-fatal attack. Now a secret agent with Cyber Operations, a covert paramilitary organization, Brock gets called in, not when the going gets tough, but when the going gets impossible. So when he’s unexpectedly assigned to escort Penelope to the summit meeting, he balks at babysitting a prissy ambassador. But after a terrorist bombing, a crash landing on a hostile planet, and a growing attraction to his protectee, Operation: PIA may become his most impossible assignment yet.

Different, my ass. At the Interplanetary Shuttle Port, Brock leaned against a pillar outside the arrival gate of Pia’s incoming flight and erased from his face all indication of how steamed he was. Pia had lived up to her former code name. She hadn’t changed a bit. He’d have been really pissed if he’d gotten all the way to Terra and then been informed his protectee had gone AWOL. Fortunately, he hadn’t yet boarded his shuttle when Cy-Ops had received word through a secure channel Pia was headed for the ISP. All he had to do was round her up.
All I have to do. He snorted. Nothing involving Pia was ever easy.
The computerized voice announced the landing, but Brock remained where he was and scrutinized the crowd for potential threats. After the craft taxied to the dock and locked to the terminal bridge, passengers began to disembark.
A carryall slung over her shoulder, a naked Pia sashayed into the terminal. She wasn’t technically nude, but Brock’s cyber-enhanced vision could see right through her travel uniform. Only a cascade of blue-black hair streaming to her waist impeded a full view. As she moved, her hair swung, giving him a peep show of generous breasts tipped by rosy nipples. Nothing obscured the tantalizing mound of her sex, the curls trimmed to a neat vee.
Brock yanked his gaze to her face. Thick lashes framed violet eyes over high cheekbones and a cute little chin that masked her stubbornness. The gonna-be-pretty-someday teenager had transformed into a stunning, breathtakingly beautiful woman with a flawless, creamy complexion.
Blood rushed south, and Brock immediately activated his nanocytes to cool the heat. She had no enhanced vision, and his uniform wasn’t transparent, but his erection would be obvious if he didn’t control it.
She was his current protectee, a former accuser, a spoiled, entitled, vindictive hellion who’d derailed his CPO career, all facts his body continued to ignore. This was Carter’s fault. If the director hadn’t interrupted him before he could avail himself of the services of a Darius 4 pleasure droid, he wouldn’t be reacting this way. If his former friend and current superior officer hadn’t forced this assignment on him, he wouldn’t be here at all.
Fuck it all to hell. Brock shoved off from the post.
Pia stopped dead, blocking disembarking passengers. Her jaw dropped, and her huge violet eyes widened more. “Agent Mann?” She hadn’t gotten any taller—she didn’t even top his shoulder.
“Ambassador,” he growled, mad at her, angry with Carter, and furious with himself.
She licked her lips. “W-what are you doing here?”
He took her arm and led her out of the traffic flow. “Is that a question to ask your…husband?” If she was his wife, his real wife, he’d make damn sure she never wore another travel uniform. It didn’t matter that only machine scanners, droids, and cyborgs could see through it.
She jerked and snapped back her head. “You’re my bodyguard? No, absolutely not.” She wrenched her arm out of his grasp. “Despite what my mother believes, I don’t need a babysitter, and certainly not you. You may return to whatever other duties you have,” she said like she was dismissing an android.
“I don’t take orders from you,” he said. “I issue them. You’ll do what I tell you to do.” He leaned in. The scent of her hair swirled around him. “My orders to ensure your safety supersede your assignment. If that means tossing you over my shoulder and putting you on the first flight to Terra, so be it.”

Best Friend and Lover meet in today’s #MidWeekTease from COSMIC SUTRA #LGBT #romance
Happy Wednesday! It’s time for another Mid Week Tease post! Mid Week Tease is an author meme started and hosted by author Sandra Bunino, where authors share snippets from their recent releases, back list titles, and works-in-progress (WIPs). So, please check out my tease and visit the other participating authors listed below.
I’m going to share one last Mid-Week Tease from Cosmic Sutra, which released on Monday as part of the First Ladylove anthology.
Setup: Victoria is talking to her best friend back on Earth, when her girlfriend walks in…
“So, when do I get to meet her?”
Victoria rolled her eyes at the hologram of her best friend. “Do you have to ask that every time we talk?”
“Of course.” Nash crossed his arms. “I need to know everyone you hang out with over there, you know, give my approval and all.”
“You’re aggravating. I’m not bringing everyone I hang out with up to my room to meet you.”
“Okay, fine.” The hologram moved to her bed as if Nash really lay there with his hands behind his head. “Just Kaye. You two have been dating for a month now.”
“Yes, and I’m due to meet her soon. I’d better say good-bye now so I’m not late.” She refused to tell him Kaye would arrive at her dorm any moment. He’d prolong their conversation until after the awkward introduction where one would likely reveal an embarrassing fact she’d hoped the other would never learn.
“Vic, you’ve got to let me meet her sometime.” Nash stood and reached for her hand, but his hologram passed through her skin. “Promise me you will.”
“Fi—”
Victoria’s door slid open, and in walked Kaye. She set down a bag and pulled out a purple rubber contraption shaped like the letter V. “Lookie what I have for us to play with.”
Temporarily forgetting Nash, Victoria focused on the object her girlfriend swung around. “What is it?”
“A dildo. My girl is going to get freaky tonight.”
Her fists clenched and cheeks burning with embarrassment, Victoria spun around to face the hologram. “Nash, it’s time for you to go.”
“No way. I want to meet this kinky girlfriend of yours.” He glanced around her and winked at Kaye. “Plus, I wouldn’t mind if you’d let me watch.”
She reached for the end call button. “Good-bye, Nash.”
“No, wait.” Kaye wrapped her fingers around Victoria’s wrist and gently pulled her hand away from the com unit. “I want to meet this guy, too. Especially when he calls you his girl.”
Victoria leaned back and sighed in frustration. “Fine. Kaye, this is my best friend from Earth, Nash. And, Nash, this is my girlfriend, Kaye.”
They nodded at each other, not much more either could do as a hologram on the other’s planet.
Nash ran a hand through his hair. “So, I heard Victoria ran right into you right after she arrived at Thanh.”
“Yes.” Kaye hid the rubber dildo behind her back. “I didn’t realize until later how much of an impact she’d made on me that day.”
Victoria rocked on her heals, unsure if Kaye meant that as a joke. “Okay, you’ve been introduced. Time to go, Nash.”
“Wait, I thought you said I could watch.”
~ COSMIC SUTRA ~
When Victoria is offered a scholarship to attend Thanh Academy for her last year of university, she jumps at the opportunity. Nothing could be more practical in her psychology studies than to travel to the other side of the universe and live amongst the life forms she strives to learn from.
Upon her arrival, she is met with hostility. Convincing the other students she is not like those from Earth who came before her takes time, but eventually she is embraced by a small group of friends, including a sexy female alien she fantasizes about on a daily basis.
Based on past experience, will Victoria keep her lust hidden deep inside to prevent losing a friend? Or will she confess her feelings to Kaye and possibly find her one true love?

Jessica E. Subject’s Weekly Writing Update ~ New Project and New Releases!
Hello! Can you believe it’s already the end of September? Yes, it’s definitely beginning to feel and look like autumn here. This past week, I’ve had to deal with a skunk roaming the neighborhood, which is not good when I have a big, hairy dog. Thank goodness neither of us have been sprayed. And now onto the writing update…
Cosmic Sutra is now available as part of the First Ladylove anthology. You can find this anthology at All Romance, Amazon, Kobo and Smashwords. Thank you to all those who helped make it a category bestseller at All Romance!
Click here to read an interview with Victoria, the main character.
Cosmic Desires releases this Saturday, and is still available for a special pre-order price of 99¢ USD at All Romance, Amazon, Coffee Time Romance, Google Play, or Kobo. Thank you to all those who helped make this box set a category bestseller at All Romance! You all rock! You can also get the print right now from CreateSpace, Amazon US and Amazon UK.
Alien Attraction is with my editor. I’m aiming for a release date of October 26.
New project ~ IT HAS A NAME! So, I’ve decided to call my new series Galactic Defenders. Huge thanks to my hubby, Sharon, and Tawania, for helping me to decide on the name! The first book in the series will focus on Bryce, and will be named after him. Here’s the tagline… They were trained to fight aliens, not to fall in love. I only have 100 words written, but now that I have the majority of it plotted out, it will be written much faster.
Beneath the Starry Sky in audio is on tour. Only one more stop to go. You can find the schedule here. Also, the ebook is on sale for 99¢ at Amazon and All Romance for the duration of the tour.
GOALS FOR THE WEEK ~ I will write more of Bryce’s story.
TV Mention – I watched some good movies on Netflix, and did not finish some others that sounded good, but weren’t. Netflix Canada has added a new season of The Walking Dead, so that’s what I’m watching now. We also have an antenae to get the local station, and I loved the series premieres for both Blindspot and Quantico. Also enjoyed the season premiere of Castle. Looking forward to more new things this week.
So, what are you up to this week? Any recommendations?

#SFRMonday: Brought to their knees by a Clone ~ BOOK OF EVA by @Paxton_Summers #scifirom
Please welcome Paxton Summers, who is here to tell us more about her Clone series.
CLONE: Book of Eva
by Paxton Summers
When a world leader’s daughter meets a clone, a doomed love affair begins.
In the year 2087, a great war erupts upon the face of the planet, destroying most of the earth. Mankind turns to cloning to survive. Over one hundred-fifty years later, the planet is divided into two factions. There is a shortage of food and an abundance of illness. Most live on the scraps of the wealthy, who wallow in excess.
This is the world Olivia Braun inherits. Sick from birth, she wakes up from surgery with a new heart, only to discover she is the youngest president of Aeropia, an empire that has created and used clones to maintain their position of power since the bombs dropped, but her rise to power was no accident and the fall won’t be either. Before her transplant, Olivia conspired with a clone to free those Aeropia had enslaved.
Now, enemies lie in wait, hidden among the population. Even friends can no longer be trusted, and Olivia must make a choice that will decide the fate of the free world. Before her tale of corruption, forbidden love and war ends, the mighty will be brought to their knees.
By a clone.
AVAILABLE OCTOBER 1ST. PRE-ORDER FROM:
The first time I met Axel, a pack of boys were beating him in the garden on my parents’ summer estate. Five of them pummeled him; meaty sounds and grunts followed each punch.
“That’s for telling me I can’t have it.” Slam. A fist flew and another oomph. “Cocksucker.”
“Hold the fucker down,” another said.
“You aren’t so tough. Big dumb fuck. We’ll teach you your place.”
Easy for them to say when it was five to one. I crept up behind them as quietly as I could, not even daring to draw a breath. With my size and lack of physical strength, the element of surprise would be all I had going for me, and it shouldn’t be wasted.
The person they pounded was out of view, hidden behind the bulk of the bullies’ bodies. Even though I couldn’t see him, I knew they were giving him a terrible beating, and that he must be male, for the slurs from their mouths sounded as though he intimidated them.
Each time their fists or boots connected, as they were kicking him, too, a thud ensued. He didn’t speak, choosing silence over screaming for help. The only sounds he made were the occasional grunt or moan, when someone’s knuckles or steel toes connected with his torso.
From the back, I recognized them. Boys from the local village who had no business here. They’d trapped their victim in the hedges, using the thick vegetation to contain him while they delivered the beating, pounding on his ribs, face, and anywhere they could strike. Certainly they would have killed him had I not intervened.
“Stop!” I moved for the cowards. “I’ll report your trespassing to my father.”
They whipped around, and their eyes widened.
Even though they were twice my size, I did not back down. “You have no official business on this estate.”
“Says who?” one of the more stupid lads asked, obviously unaware of who I was. From the looks on his buddies’ faces, at least they weren’t clueless. They vehemently shook their heads at their friend. One even delivered a sharp elbow to the witless one’s ribs as he opened his mouth to say more.
“Sorry about that. He’s not the brightest bulb on the tree, Ms. Braun.”
None of them were if they were trespassing on the property. “Get out of here.” The conversation was over, and I was only interested in getting to the wounded boy in the hedge. “Now!”
Nobody messed with a Braun. They bolted in every direction, running as though I had a charged weapon pointed at them, and perhaps I had. My family name was something to be feared.
“Come back and I’ll tell my father,” I screamed as they disappeared from view.
On the ground was a bag, fruit from the estate conservatory spilled out onto the pavers, for the fruit outside would not look so perfect. Theft, no doubt.
I looked down into the bushes and saw him. The brown pants and tunic gave away his identity, that of a slave. The boys who’d beat him were the thieves, not this clone. I instantly recognized his face, even though he wouldn’t look at me. General Axis’s clone.
“They were stealing from the conservatory?”
He nodded but continued to avoid eye contact. It was obvious he’d caught and tried to stop them. I’d seen him tending the conservatory orchard from a distance, and supposed it was his primary function when he was at the summer palace from May to November. Beyond that, I’d paid little attention to the clones and what they were doing. Regardless that he was a clone, the lowest in the food chain, he’d done nothing wrong and did not deserve the punishment the boys had given him.
A ball of heat built in my chest as anger seeped into me. This wasn’t right, and my father would hear about it. I didn’t care the victim had been a clone—his suffering had been unwarranted.
I stretched my arm out to help him from the box elder, waiting for him to take my offered hand. He tried to roll to the side, and his gasp told me the motion hurt, but it also told me other things. Like how desperate he was to avoid any contact with me. I waited, ignoring his rejection of help, certain if he couldn’t roll over, he wasn’t climbing out of the hedge on his own. “Come on, take it. Let me pull you out.”
He refused, turning his head away. With a sigh, I leaned down and grabbed his wrist, doing my best to heft his solid frame out of the shrubs. “The more you help me here, the faster I let go of you.”
He clasped my wrist in return and, using the support I offered to climb from the greenery, stood. When he straightened his spine, he towered over me. Most men his height would slump their shoulders in an unintentional need to be smaller. This clone did not.
I gasped and stared at his chest, certain I’d met a giant. General Axis was tall, but I’d had never been in close enough proximity to him to get the full effect of just how big he really was. Perhaps the shock came because I’d always avoided my father’s military leader every chance I could, not liking the way he watched me when he thought no one was looking. I never understood how he’d commanded so much respect before now.
From where I stood, Axel and I were practically chin to shoulders. I had a hard time understanding why he’d let those boys beat him. He obviously had the size and strength to stop them if he desired.
At the time, Axel was around the age of nineteen, at least six-foot-four, and twice my weight. Two years senior to my seventeen and healthy to my scrawny and sick. Even though he was a clone, I felt in the presence of greatness and couldn’t help the slight buzz I got from being so near. And then I got a closer look.
I tipped my chin up, and my mouth dropped open. “Oh.” I blinked, and my heart skipped. My stomach did this strange flip-flop thing, and heat washed across my face. “Wow,” I breathed out, almost silently. I was pretty certain he hadn’t heard, or he’d have looked away again.
My knees got all wonky, and little jolts raced up my arm from where we made skin-to-skin contact. I swore I could feel his pulse beat under my fingers, matching time with my own.
He pulled his wrist free and backed away as I continued to stare.
“Wait,” I said, shaking off the awe. “What’s your name?” I didn’t want to call him clone. And wow, seemed a little impersonal. The clone was more human to me than most of the people who came through the palace. He was the hero of my mother’s antique romances, the ones I’d squirreled away in my room and read until the pages were coming free from the spines.
In a matter of seconds, I’d become a victim of hit-and-run love at first sight.
All my life I’d wanted to meet someone like him—the man of my dreams. Only he was a clone, and any kind of a relationship between us would be forbidden. Impossible. I didn’t care. I was captivated and wanted to know more about him. “Please, don’t walk away. Tell me.”
He stopped his retreat. “I have an I-dent, a creation registration number.” He touched his cheek and ducked his head. The act was both boyish and charming on so powerful a figure.
“No, I mean a name, not an i-dent. I’m Olivia.” I stepped closer. “What name do you call yourself?”
“I know who you are. It’s prohibited for me to have a name, to even think about having one.” He eyed the corner of the house. “I should go.”
I rolled my eyes. “It’s just us out here.” I picked up the bag of fruit and pushed it at him. “What name do you go by?”
He made no move to take it, as though he was afraid we might accidentally touch again. “I haven’t ever had a need to claim one.”
“We shall have to change that.” I thought for a minute and then smiled. “I think I’ll call you Axel. Do you like that?”
“It sounds like his name.” He shifted on the balls of his feet but didn’t run.
“It does, doesn’t it? We’ll keep it between us. I like it much better than a number, or calling you clone.”
“But that is what I am.”
“And?”
Then he lifted his gaze to mine and smiled. It reached his eyes like the sunlight that warmed me on a sultry day, and it took my breath away. I wanted more. “Thank you,” he said, shifting his attention back to stare at the ground.
“You’re welcome.” I tucked the bag under one arm and reached out to take his hand.
He took several steps in reverse. “Don’t touch me.”
“Why?” The moment of closeness we’d shared, vanished.
He didn’t answer but turned and walked away. I followed him, doing my best to keep up, but his legs were so much longer than mine and stretched the distance between us rapidly. It didn’t take seconds for the wheezing to start. My chest hurt, but I did not let it stop me. I wanted an answer to my question. So I jogged, pushing limits I never should’ve.
He whipped around. “Go away.”
I came to a complete stop and sucked in a sharp breath. The bag dropped from my arms. The fruit rolled all over, scattering at our feet. He’d raised his voice. They never did. My chest cramped, and my heart fluttered inside my ribs. Not the steady beat I usually had, but as though it struggled to find its pace. I dropped to my knees, gasping for air, certain I would die. My hand went to my breast, and I willed my heart to beat normally. I needed my medicine and would never make it to the house to get it.
“You shouldn’t have followed me.” He stooped to brush the hair from my eyes and touched my cheek. “I’m a clone, Olivia. I’m not allowed to touch you or speak to you. They execute us for it.” Then Axel did the bravest thing. He lifted me in his arms and ran to the front steps of my home, calling for help.
Three rules broken to save my life. Three that could get him executed. I had not known. I’d been buried in my own little world of romance novels and gardens, failing to learn the laws of our land, living a fantasy instead of facing reality, and it could cost Axel his life. I’d never felt so ignorant or helpless.
General Axis came out and took me from his arms. “What did you do to her?”
Axel shook his head and retreated a couple of steps. He stared at the ground.
General Axis didn’t say anything further, but the look on his face promised Axel would pay. I worried at that moment I’d killed him, my question of why I shouldn’t touch him clearly answered in the commander’s cold accusation. I opened my mouth to speak, to tell General Axis he’d saved me, but I had no air or voice. Then, I swam in darkness.
