BROKEN SILENCE

Black Hills Wolves #42

by Jennifer Kacey

More than a decade before, when Paul was nothing but a child, fate dealt him a hand he couldn’t win. Silenced him forever for speaking out against the former Alpha, stole his destiny, and robbed him of his place in the pack.

Presley Ginger, a tiny human female, couldn’t have been further from what he expected to walk into the bar and alter his future. But he couldn’t tell her anything about his wolf or his shift. Nothing. Bound by a direct order from the enforcer to keep her in the dark, his need for her would never see the light of day. Then the moon rose above him in the presence of his mate and changed everything.

For years, in the background is where he stayed, unable to find his voice. Until his rainbow-haired mate showed up in the Black Hills—with the answer in her hands.

blog excerpt 2016

Paul woke screaming.

Well. His version of screaming. A bit different with no tongue. He tried to strangle the noise in his throat by clenching his teeth and it finally worked.

Breath rushed in and out of his lungs and he wiped at his face.

Wet.

Wet with blood.

Panic gripped him as he fumbled for the light on his nightstand.

Several things hit the floor before he found the switch.

Wiping his face again, his heart stopped as he looked at his hand.

Sweat.

His head hit the headboard as he relaxed.

It was only sweat. Thank God.

He counted to a hundred to try to calm his erratic pulse. And then did it again until he could breathe normally.

His future was Hail Mary’d that day. His life was thrown as hard as possible into the wind with who knew what on the other end.

He could have died. If he were human, he probably would have.

Yet—he’d lived.

Some days he wondered if surviving was a good thing or a bad thing.

Things were better with Drew, the new Alpha—an immeasurable amount better. More than a decade after he was ostracized from the pack, Drew returned to take his rightful place at the head of it. Challenging his father, Drew killed Magnum in an alpha challenge.

It was quick. Decisive.

The fact someone had been poisoning Magnum for some time played little into the outcome of the fight. Paul had his suspicions, but he said nothing—warned no one. Magnum’s death proved far quicker than Paul had wanted.

The man who mutilated him should have suffered. He didn’t like having those feelings but they were there. They were there for Magnum and for the five wolves who’d stolen his future.

They were all dead—every one of them. Taken out because they couldn’t be trusted. Killed because they’d decided their hate was worth fighting for.

They’d been wrong.

Sometimes….

Sometimes Paul wouldn’t remember they were dead. Sometimes getting stuck in the past was as simple as slipping on an old coat full of holes. The illusion of warmth clung to his foggy brain but he was so cold. His faith in others? Fleeting, so he had a hard time putting his trust in anyone.

Or friendship.

Or love.

He shook his head and ran his fingers over his short blond hair, making sure it was still cropped close to his skull.

Short. He always kept his hair short now.

Short enough no one could grab it.

Never again would it be used against him.

Staring at his hands in front of him, he measured their width. Their size was the same as the other wolves in the pack, but his hands didn’t pull the same weight. He was damaged goods. Unable to speak to anyone, he looked at the nightstand to find his only method of communicating. Two things which hadn’t fallen were his notepad and pen he kept with him all the time. So he could write clipped messages to people when he had to communicate.

It got the job done, but the necessity left him even more disconnected. Relaxing his biceps, he let his hands fall to his lap then closed his eyes, as he tried to focus past the nightmare.

The pack had hope again—stronger than ever thanks to the deaths. They’d found unity and faith in their Alpha. Hell, they even found faith in each other, in their pack, first decimated by a madman then wounded by another.

The members of the Black Hills Wolves were coming home. He was happy to be a part of the growth. Happy to help welcome them back. He’d stayed for so many years with the hope of witnessing the resurrection of their pack.

Theirs.

Not his.

Never his, because he was separate from them. Lesser. He’d never be Alpha. Sure as hell wasn’t a dominant wolf by any stretch of the word. Barely even a beta with the females of the pack. He was relegated to being an omega. A weakling. Yes they all told him he was needed. Wanted even. They told him omegas made the pack stronger, they helped—but how? No, he didn’t see it.

He shook his head and rubbed it one more time.

The night was so silent all around him.

Where he always stayed. In the silence.

Most days it still felt as if he were free falling toward a black future with nothing to hold onto. Where he’d land, he didn’t know.

All he prayed for each night and every morning? To find when he landed—he wouldn’t be alone.

Spies, Lies, and Vile Bad Guys ~ DRIVE, a #newrelease from @TeresNoeRoberts #romance #suspense

Drive by Teresa Noelle Roberts
DRIVE

Cougars, Cars and Kink, book 1

by Teresa Noelle Roberts

He’s a kinky dream come true—and her only protection from danger.

Eight months after her (cheating, almost-ex) husband’s death, Suzanne Mayhew has a plan to move on with her life. First step: sell off Frank’s classic cars, starting with the red vintage Mustang convertible he never let her drive. Second step: get her unexplored kink on with a delicious younger man.

Preferably the one an old friend sends around, ostensibly to check out the Mustang. Neil Callahan—Boston cop, Dom, fifteen years her junior.

Neil feels the mutual sizzle, but if the blush staining her cheeks is any indication, her flirting skills are a little rusty. Though his instinct tells him to take things slow with the recent widow, he can’t resist inviting her along for a test drive—for the whole weekend.

Throwing caution to the wind, Suzanne takes him up on it. But they’re barely out of the driveway when Neil’s cop instincts kick in. They’ve got a tail…and it looks dangerously like her ex’s secrets looming large—and deadly—in their rear-view mirror.

Warning: Spies, lies and vile bad guys. A meddling BFF. Inappropriate use of kitchen tools. Completely appropriate use of rope and floggers. Your mileage may vary, depending on battery life.

A Review: “Thought-provoking, moving and bloody heart breaking – Ms. Roberts twists me all up inside again.[…] I loved this book from beginning to end. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I know it will be a treat. Highly recommended to kinky readers who are looking for an intimate maledom erotica without fancy gear or exclusive clubs.” La Crimson Femme

blog excerpt 2016

“Once you’ve had a chance to do your driving and poking, make me an offer.” He didn’t pick up a hint she was talking about anything but the car, but she looked so beautiful in that driver’s seat, September sun glinting in her red hair, that Neil couldn’t help thinking of all the offers he’d like to make her.

He hesitated, trying to fight back the words and worse yet, the impulses that filled his brain. He wanted to offer her his naked body, a bed, a chance to explore her naughtiest, kinkiest fantasies. Wanted to offer to strip her down and taste every inch of her luscious flesh. Wanted to offer her an afternoon that would at least start to make up for what sounded like a craptastic marriage, and then a week, a month, however long it took for them to get the other out of their system.

Inappropriate much, Callahan? He and Suzanne had a flirtatious vibe, but that would definitely be pushing it. Probably to the point where she’d order him out of the Mustang and make him walk back to Bellwood to collect his motorcycle.

With a struggle and some deep breathing, he forced his words, if not his growing erection, back under the control of his brain. “I’m going to have to do some research. John gave me the impression the car was a fixer-upper, but it looks like she’s had nothing but TLC.”

A strange look flickered over Suzanne’s face but fled before he could interpret it. “It’s had TLC all right,” she said drily. “The appraiser said it was actually over-restored.” She snorted. “Kind of like some of my friends, but you didn’t hear that from me.”

He ran his hand over the silken surface of the dashboard. “In this case—though maybe not your friends—the results are beautiful. But I know what your appraiser meant. A lot of us prefer a car that shows its history, even if it has some dings and scratches, to one that looks showroom new thanks to a lot of replacement parts.” The dashboard felt almost alive beneath his hands, sleek and animal, but instead of reveling in it, he was imagining Suzanne’s skin. Imagining her lips, glossed with something soft and slick and kissable.

He couldn’t help himself. “You are so beautiful,” he whispered.

Suzanne snorted. “Right. It must be the nicks and dings.”

“Partly. You have history. A beautiful patina of experience.” He leaned forward.

She met him halfway. “I was hoping you’d make this kind of offer,” she said, her voice husky.

And then they were kissing in the beach parking lot, with families milling around them, carrying all the gear needed for a day of fun in the sun.

Body boards, beach umbrellas and picnic coolers were all very well, but kissing a beautiful woman was the kind of fun in the sun that Neil preferred. Better than taking his Indian on the Kancamagus Highway, better than cruising top down in a classic convertible, better than any thrill he’d ever experienced. The fact that he and the beautiful woman were doing their necking in a sweet red ’65 Mustang only made it better.

Four men at her door. #MidWeekTease from MADE FOR HER #military #scifiromance

Get teased, titillated, and tantalized with this week's Mid Week Tease

Happy Wednesday! It’s time for Mid Week Tease, an author meme hosted by Angelica Dawson, where authors share snippets from their recent releases, back list titles, and works-in-progress (WIPs). So, please check out my tease and visit the other participating authors listed below.

For today’s post, I’m sharing an excerpt from MADE FOR HER, which releases this coming Monday.

Made For Her by Jessica E. Subject, an erotic military sci-fi romance

Setup: This excerpt comes from the beginning of the story…

Captain Mikayla Jones opened the door and gazed up at the Skymaster II rocketing another group of pilots toward SFTC, the Space Flight Training Center. She’d been the instructor of most of the men and women on that flight and would come face to face with a new class on Monday morning. But she hadn’t rushed to the door to bid the squad farewell. No, instead she stared at the four men in uniform standing before her. She recognized three of them from the base, knew they hadn’t come with good news—they would never have arrived at her door together other than to inform her of a tragedy—but it was the fourth man dressed in black, his hands drumming a beat on his utility belt, who worried her the most. He wasn’t military.

“May we come in?”

Lieutenant Colonel Madison’s question yanked her back from her thoughts. “What is it? Tell me what happened.”

The chaplain from the base stepped forward with a heavy nod. “Captain, it’s best if we go in and sit down. Detective Krug of the Northwest Police Department has something to tell you.”

She braced her hands on the door frame, afraid if she let them in, their bad news would be true.

“C’mon, Mikayla.” Lieutenant Colonel Madison draped an arm across her shoulder and guided her into her home. He would be the only one to call her by her given name here, the only one who knew her well enough. “You need to sit down. It’s about Daniel.”

She stopped in her tracks, dread pooling in her stomach, but the chaplain, the detective, and his military police escort continued into her living room.

“This isn’t funny. It’s our anniversary. We’re supposed to go out for dinner. He promised he’d be home. Whatever this surprise is that you’re all involved in, I’m not impressed.” Her voice hitched. “Go over to the lab and tell Daniel to come home.”

“I’m afraid that’s not possible,” Detective Krug said.

Her knees threatened to give out. “Why? He works just over there.” She pointed in the direction of the military labs where her husband conducted experiments for the government, ones so top secret, Daniel couldn’t even mention them in her presence.

“No, Mikayla,” the colonel said. “He was contracted out to Onatria Labs.”

She gasped. Her chest tightened. Had she misheard him? “The lab rumored to be involved in cloning? But that lab was blown up this morning.”

~ MADE FOR HER ~

After terrorists murder the love of her life, Colonel Mikayla Jones trains squadron after squadron of the clones he brought to life, to take to the skies. When she discovers a young clone of her husband in her newest class, her world spins out of control. How can she command the look-a-like when she can’t help but yearn for him to fill an ache in her heart?

Dare was created to be the best. As the first Daniel clone to leave Onatria labs, he needs to prove he is more than just a DNA copy. To do that, he must rely on the wife of the man who donated his genes. But when she refuses to train him, Dare faces discharge and returning to the labs. Can he convince Colonel Jones to finish his training and find a way into her bed? Or will long kept secrets unhinge the entire clone project?

Please note: Made For Her was previously published with another publisher. It has been revised and expanded from the original version. This version also includes the short story, Replicated Consequences, which takes place in the same world.

Bondage play turns into so much more ~ WHAT YOU CRAVE by @LandraGraf #BDSM #1NS @DecadentPub

What You Crave, a BDSM 1Night Stand story by Landra Graf
WHAT YOU CRAVE

by Landra Graf

BDSM Erotic Contemporary

Sigmund Bermudez has spent the last year out of the BDSM scene, mourning his father, and rebuilding the family business. When he loses a bet to his bodyguard that Madame Eve won’t locate a woman who’s down with his type of kink, he finds himself committed to a date he’s not sure he’ll enjoy.

Lauren Elser has heard about kinky escapades from one of her more challenging patients, and never taken part in one. When offered a chance to explore this undiscovered side of herself courtesy of 1Night Stand she jumps at it.

Neither of them are prepared for the emotional roller coaster that comes with their date, and soon shibari bondage play turns into so much more. The only problem is Sig’s not ready to open up and Lauren doesn’t want to be sued again. If they work past the issues there’s a world of wonder in store.

blog excerpt 2016

“My relationships didn’t ever last long enough for gifts.”

“Because…” He waited, and as usual his hands sought their own occupation, twisting the cloth napkin into a simple slipknot.

“I had career goals. Relationships were a natural casualty in my pursuit of professional success. The one guy I got serious about—” She smothered a laugh with her palm.

He understood. “It’s weird wanting to tell someone you just met anything and everything.”

“You have no idea. I’m not used to doing the talking.”

Her job, a therapist. He’d been recommended to one, but preferred to work through his leftover emotions by saving the casino. Words were not action. Still, a profession like hers no doubt came with a big emotional cost. “I’m told doctors need therapy too. Keep going.”

Instead of rebuking at his gentle command, she relaxed. Tension eased from her shoulders, arms going to the armrests on the dining room chair. “His name isn’t worth mentioning, but he didn’t cut it… in the sack.”

“Too vanilla?”

“Too concerned with his own orgasm, and any requests or lack of enthusiasm earned me some rude responses. Then he told me I’m too frigid to try new sexual experiences. So I got rid of him.”

“Ouch.” Sig stood, walking around the table and offered to help her up. She took it. “I’ll try to make sure I meet all your needs, then.”

She laughed, a throaty, melodic sound, which had his half-mast cock springing to full attention. “I’d like a good submissive experience to see if this is something I want.”

“Are you enjoying yourself?” Time to find out if she’d admit to her submissiveness from the moment she’d walked in the door. He directed her actions and so far she’d capitulated like a pro.

“Yes.”

“What do you want?” Normally he’d never ask such a question. It laid the foundation for a sub to top from the bottom, which he’d never agree to or condone.

“I want your ropes.”

#8Sunday: What happened to the clone she left behind in Made For Her? #military #scifiromance

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Made For Her will release February 29th and is now available for pre-order. For my snippet today, I’m jumping ahead in the story. Remember, Captain Mikayla Jones walked away from her squadron when she saw a clone of her late husband. She’s visited the clone lab and has now returned. But, what about the clone she refused to train?

Dare rolled off his cot then left the barracks, his body sore from the last few weeks of hell. Major Thompson had sent them right from the classroom to physical training, as if they were still in basic. When they ran flight simulations, Thompson assigned him the first officer’s seat rather than the captain’s. The only time Dare had the chance to fly as captain, he’d fucked up the take-off and crashed the simulated plane. Not an ideal way to start, but he required more practice. His squadron only had two weeks left before their first flight, and he felt no more ready to fly a plane than he had a month ago. He’d studied his flight manuals every night, but they did not compare to practical experience. Somehow, some way, he had to convince Colonel Jones to come back and train him. He needed to be prepared.

He walked up to the colonel’s house and knocked on the door.

They’re not alien hunters ~ #MySexySaturday from ALIEN ATTRACTION #scifiromance

 My Sexy Saturday

Hello and welcome to the 129th week of My Sexy Saturday.

Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.

Today’s theme is…

OUR SEXY MYSTERY

While none of my stories are mysteries, my characters do hold secrets. Here’s an excerpt from ALIEN ATTRACTION, which I learned is up for Best Cover at BTS eMag through my ad with My Sexy Saturday. Enjoy!

Alien Attraction, a New Adult Sci-Fi Romance by Jessica E. Subject

Set-up: During Chal’s date with Angela (from last week), a ball of flashing light rolls into the living room. Chal knows what it is, but has no idea why she would have an alien artifact. Slade is Chal’s brother.

Chal hovered his chair over to sit beside Slade. Letting him rest, his brother had focused the ship’s satellites on Angela and the people she’d run to. “So, what do you think they are?” He hadn’t risked being caught for nothing. Remaining on Earth to place a beacon on her car cost him extra minutes and after teleporting away, he’d left an energy residue behind. Easy to trace if one knew what they were looking for.

“To be honest, a family. If you take a closer look at Angela and this guy here.” Slade pointed to the man who had met her the night before. “They look alike. Plus, they resemble this older couple here. Could be her brother and parents.”

Slade’s attention to detail amazed Chal. He’d only really observed Angela, her frustration and sadness. Emotions he’d caused and could feel even when light years away. As if they’d already formed a bond after such a short time.

No way! She was from Earth. They had no connection, should have never spent any time together. Why did his sexual desires block his common sense with his life and that of his people on the line?

Slade flicked Chal’s ear. “And this female here with the two kids is expecting again.”

“So?” He yearned to escape the observation room, forget her as Slade had insisted when he’d arrived the night before.

“They’re not alien hunters.” Slade zoomed the view even closer. “But, why would they have a Lisivian predictor?”

~ ALIEN ATTRACTION ~

She wants to be more alien.

He wants to be more human.

Born a galaxy apart, will Angela and Chal have a chance at love, or will their extraterrestrial secrets leave them running to stay alive?

The shop door snapped open. The bells above the frame rang in an awful clatter.

And in walked Mikael Lyons.

Becka laughed. Am I dreaming?

But she wasn’t.

Mike stood, surveying the art gallery like a man with a mission. Focused, pointed, his gaze swept the large display floor jammed with furniture and paintings, sculpture and china, ancient, modern, all of it fit only for the upper one-percent’s purchase.

She shot from her chair. What was he doing here?

She hadn’t seen him since they’d argued and parted last summer after that summary meeting in the State Department. Days after the end of their Paris job. The end of our two-month affair.

She sucked in a breath, wrestling with her memories of how scrumptious The Lion had been as her lover. Instead, she zeroed in on what had happened to him after he’d left her on the sidewalk last summer holding pieces of her heart in her hands. His grandmother had notified her the day she’d gotten word of his injuries in Afghanistan. The elderly lady had faithfully kept her up-to-date about his wounds, his hospitalizations, his PTSD. Oh, but he looked so good now. The shock of sun-kissed hair, streaked with bronze and gold. The enormous shoulders tucked into a steel gray suit that fit his broad chest and powerful arms like a well-tailored glove. The height, six-four or more. Comforting to stand next to. Maddening beautiful. A little thinner than when they’d rolled around in bed together last July before they returned Stateside and he’d left for the mission that changed his life.

His neon blue gaze locked on hers. A ghost of a smile crossed his chiseled lips. And then he moved. Like quicksilver, he wove through the maze of furniture. His stride was long. His goal clear. He’d come for her.

Why?

Why now?

Today?

Panicked, she remembered the flash drive. The green bar on the screen moved an iota more. Almost done.

Mike rounded the doorway to her office. Up close he looked pained. But furious. At her? Really? What had she done?

“Come with me,” he said in that bass voice that reverberated inside her like the roar of the huge male lion at the Washington zoo. He could say her name and her insides got all mushy. With that voice torrid in her ear, he could tell her fairy tales and she’d believe in Hansel and Gretel and reindeer that flew because stars always exploded when he was near.

“What are you doing here?” she asked him, confused. He’d stormed away from her last summer, warning her yet again that he might not return. And he’d been prophetic, coming home from the mission to Kandahar badly wounded.

“I’ll tell you. But you have to come with me now.”

“Where? Why?” She shot a glance at her drive. Done! She grasped it and yanked it from the computer. Then she dropped it in her skirt pocket.

“Can’t explain. Need you to walk out with me.”

“No.” If she did that, if she stayed with him for more than five minutes, she’d hop into bed for a damn luscious lay—and then he’d be gone again. Messing up her life. Always. “Never.”

He winced, bared his teeth and shook his head. “Either you come quietly or I take you.”

She seethed. “Who the hell do you think you are?”

“Right now? I’m the guy who’s saving your pretty ass. So come quietly or you won’t like what happens.”

“No?” She folded her arms and glared at him. “Well, now hear this—“

“No time.” He stepped forward, hauled her into his massive arms and anchored her head with one meaty hand. “Kiss me, baby. Like there’s no tomorrow.”

There never has been. “You’re crazy if—“

“Crazy is my forte,” he crooned, turning her so her back was to the shop floor. And then he crushed his mouth to hers.

She was gone to heaven. His lips were hot as August, his demand heavy and urgent. She loved him rough and ready. She loved him tender and teasing. She loved him and part of her wanted to linger here, kiss him back, forget why he came and destroyed her. Again.

She pushed at his chest.

Why bother? With a man this freaking size, what woman had a chance? Not me. Never me with this man.

He pressed his thumb over her swollen lips. “Look like you want me. Hate me, but want me.”

Like that wasn’t the truth.

“Listen to me, Becka. Fast. You have documents?”

“Huh. What?”

“Documents? Sensitive?”

“Y-yes. How do you know?

“Tell you later. I’m assigned to help you.”

“Like we did in Paris?”

“Exactly like.”

“I have them.” She sidled closer to him, whispering, “On me. But I’m not going with you, Mike. Every time I do, I get myself in a helluva bind. I won’t do it again.”

He took her by her upper arms and gave her a little shake. “I have no time to argue with you. There’s a gunman out there. Maybe headed this way.”

Her jaw dropped. But her old Langley training kicked in. “What’s going on?”

“Dunno.”

“But—“

“Okay then.” He picked her right up off her feet and hauled her over his shoulder. “We’ll do this my way.”

One hand to her ass, he pivoted and threaded his graceful way double-time through the tables and chaises, the mirrors and marbles.

As he passed Vince, her boss, and the senator, he said, “Thanks, got what I came for.”

“Rebecca?” Vince followed behind Mike.

She glimpsed his feet tracking her. She tried to raise her head, but all she could do was watch the beautiful muscular play of Mikael Lyons’ fabulous glutes. She suppressed the urge to laugh and indulged the need to bitch. “I’m fine, Vince. I know Superman, here. He’s harmless as a pussy cat.”

“For that,” Mike growled when they were on the sidewalk and he ran up Wisconsin Avenue with her ingloriously over his shoulder, “you will pay.”

Five HOT 1Night Stand stories with SEXY heroes from other planets in AN ALIEN TO LOVE by Jessica E. Subject

Setup: Cooper and Tabitha are friends. They grew up together, and are both half-extraterrestrial. Well, Tabitha has plans for him…

Cooper Tate parked his truck in the lot of the hotel then pulled out his phone. Okay, I’m here, he texted. Awaiting Tabitha’s response, he got out of the vehicle to stretch his legs. A four-hour trip he’d made in three didn’t favor his bones and muscles. Why couldn’t his friend have arranged a closer meeting? And why a hotel, of all places? Any other guy might assume the arrangement to be a booty call, the beginning of a secret affair far away from prying eyes. But Cooper knew better.

Tabitha remained content in her marriage, expecting her second child with her husband of seven years. Yet, Cooper held onto information regarding Tabitha even the man she slept beside every night didn’t know. Information he planned on no one else ever learning.

His phone vibrated in his hand. Cooper clicked it on, thumbing the message, hoping to at last figure out what his friend had planned.

Check in at the desk. Don’t worry, everything has already been paid for. Once in your room, you will find an envelope on the bed with more instructions.

Cooper pinched the bridge of his nose, his stomach clenching with worry. He wasn’t some spy on a secret mission. His entire existence had to be kept under the radar. One step into the spotlight, and people would start looking into his background. Tabitha, of all people, should have known better.

You can’t be serious.

I am, she responded. It’s a good surprise. Trust me.
