A Mate’s Redeeming Touch ~ Check out @MerrynDexter’s favorite lines from her #newrelease @DecadentPub

Teaser 2 for A Mate's Redeeming Touch by Merryn DexterMerryn Dexter’s Ten Favourite Lines

from her new release, A Mate’s Redeeming Touch

The black-eyed wolf, the other half of his soul, regarded him, lips curled away to reveal sharp white teeth, thick gray hackles raised across his shoulders. This is how we should be, always. Strong, protected, invulnerable.
Searching inside for the pack bonds tying her and the family to the alpha, she brushed against them mentally. A wash of warmth flowed in response, and she took a deep breath. It didn’t matter what time of day or night she sought the bond, reassurance always came.
She’d never seen anything like him in her life. Naked from the waist up, the slabs of muscle across his chest gleamed with sweat. Thick hair was pulled tight in a braid, not dissimilar to her own, but it shone as black as a raven’s wing.
“Go home, Little Red. I’m way too much Big Bad Wolf for you to handle.”

“You must be cursing the fates, Ven. I’m a poor excuse for a mate.” She sighed.

The irony of her words twisted like a knife in his heart.
Feeling giddy and shockingly brazen, she boldly met his eyes. The promise in them made her gulp at the realization she’d started something she didn’t know how to finish. Time to make a tactical retreat before she pushed him too far.
“Want to tell me what you think you are doing, Caitlyn?” His low growl made her sway, the urge to lean against him and rub up against his hot hard-muscled chest almost too much to resist.
“You’re nothing like them, Ven. I don’t care about the family you come from. I care about the family we can be—together.” She reached for him, begging silently for him to take her hand, close the gulf he’d opened between them.
“Boy, if I’d known you were throwing yourself a pity party, I’d have ordered some balloons.” Gee shook his head.
His amber and dark wood scent teased her nose, opening her senses, bringing calm and balance. This man, this mate of hers, would always catch her when she fell.

A Mate's Redeeming Touch

A MATE’S REDEEMING TOUCH

by Merryn Dexter

a Black Hills Wolves story

Ven Thorne is a lone wolf with a bad attitude caused by his difficult childhood. Forced to return to pack life, he is tasked with rebuilding the gas station on the outskirts of Los Lobos. Ven works for Ryker, the pack enforcer, and will act as sentinel and lookout when the station reopens.

Caitlyn Burrows has recently returned to Los Lobos with her family. A victim of Magnum Tao, the pack’s evil ex-Alpha, she is terrified of men and her natural omega nature is making it hard for her to make friends. Her family is determined to see Caitlyn happy.

A chance encounter between Ven and Caitlyn reveals they are mates, something that neither of them is happy about! He’s mean and angry; she’s timid and shy. Can two such opposites find common ground?

Caitlyn decides it is past time to take control of her life and is determined to prove to Ven that she is the mate that he needs. Can she make him see that the Fates are right and that their only chance of happiness is together or will the ghosts from the past keep them apart forever?

blog excerpt 2016

“I said, what do you want?” Ven sounded furious as he took a step towards her and Caitlyn shrank back, dropping the cooler as she raised her hands as though trying to ward him off. The box tipped over, spilling its contents across the scruffy lot and the man swore again. He stepped around the mess of food and drinks, advancing rapidly and she caught his scent, amber and dark wood beneath a layer of fresh sweat. Her wolf, normally so quiet, surged forward and she realized in terror that she was practically toe-to-toe with her mate. And he was mean and angry.

Knowing what it was to suffer at the hands of a cruel man, she turned tail and ran as fast as she could. She plunged towards the relatively safety of the trees, kicking off her shoes and dragging her clothes free as she fled.

Her wolf was whining at her to stop, but she pushed on into the heavy brush. Pausing to shed her jeans, she crouched, letting the shift take her over but making sure she retained enough control to force the wolf to keep running. The wolf howled, desperate to turn back, to catch again the glorious scent of her mate and offer her throat in submission to his dominant presence.

A heavy crash behind had her doubling her efforts and her paws scrabbled over the soft ground, seeking purchase as she ran as though the hounds of hell were on her heels. She risked a glance over her shoulder and an involuntary yip of fright loosed from her throat. An enormous gray wolf was gaining on her with every stride, the snarl on his face more terrifying than the scowl he’d worn in his human form.

She put on another burst of speed, her wolf suddenly in accordance that escape rather than submission was the best idea. Dodging around a massive pine tree, trunk broader than her back, she pulled up short at the remains of another fallen trunk that suddenly blocked her path. A snarl set her in motion again and her claws scratched at the bark as she desperately tried to clamber over the downed tree. The wood was soft, rotten in places and her front legs slid from under her as a huge set of jaws clamped around the thick fur at the back of her neck.

#8Sunday: Face-to-face with their enemy in Never Gonna Say Goodbye #scifi #romance

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

I’m sharing one last snippet from Never Gonna Say Goodbye, which is part of The Complete Underground Series, a box set on sale for only 99¢ this month. It’s a futuristic dystopian series about a corporation that uses lies to control people and a group of rebels fighting for their freedom.

This snippet jumps ahead a bit. The rebels did find a way through the portal, but nothing goes as planned.

“Well, well, well, my good friend has come back from the dead, leading the rebellion to take me down.” Malock’s sinister chuckle echoed through the transporter room, sending a chill down Will’s spine. “Oh, and I see Brook is with you, too. Someone else from my past who refuses to die.”

“It’s time to give up, Benson. Surrender control of Planet Core before it’s too late.”

More laughter, pure sin, as if the devil himself stood among them.  “Oh, how little you know, Garrison.”  The clunk of heavy boots grew closer every second. “Come out, come out, little mice; we want to play.”

The rebels call for Benson's surrender. #Excerpt from Never Gonna Say Goodbye by Jessica E. Subject

My Sexy Saturday

Hello and welcome to the 134th week of My Sexy Saturday.

Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.

Today’s theme is…

SOME SEXY ACTION

For today’s post, I’m sharing an excerpt from NEVER GONNA DESERT YOU, which is part of my futuristic world stories in The Complete Underground Series box set, on sale for 99¢ USD this month.

Setup: If you read my Mid Week Tease post, you’ll know that Melina told Calla she refused to return to Earth. Well, her girlfriend, Brook, has traveled to Airondelle to find her. By the time Brook finds her, Melina is close to death. Add an attack by an unknown predator, and Brook’s not sure they’ll survive….

Not again! Between Planet Core and the jaguar hybrid, she was destined to die before night fell on Airondelle.

The feline hissed and growled nearby. Brook cringed, expecting it to strike again.

A heavy forced slammed her back to the ground. “Lie still.”

Female, but not Melina. What the hell is going on? Only three women had ever been sent to Airondelle; her, Melina, wherever she was, and Calla. Though Calla had returned to Earth, so it couldn’t be her.

Another blast roared, followed by an inhuman wail. The beast?

The large body rolled to the side, allowing her to breathe again. A dozen people stood around them, none of whom she recognized. They were of varying nationalities, all wearing dull, worn-out clothing—nothing issued by Planet Core. Mostly women, but some men, too.

Someone extended a hand. The blonde-haired woman who had tackled her. She hesitated to accept the help, finding nothing friendly in the cold stare.

WHAT YOU WANT ~ It’s too late when the truth comes out @LandraGraf #BDSM #newrelease @DecadentPub

blog top ten 2016

First up, thank you to Jessica for having me over on her blog – today is a big day. Release day.

To honor that I’m listing my top ten favorite lines from my release, What You Want. Book 2 in the Desperately Seeking Submissive series.

TEN: A quick interchange between my heroine, Laney, and her twin:

A quick comb through her hair, a clip to pull back the long bangs from her face, a swipe of mascara, a coat of “pinky sparkle” lip gloss, and she was ready. “How do I look?”

“Like Cowgirl Barbie.”

NINE: Laney explaining the goal of submission to her hero, Kanoa:

“But a lot of submissive work has nothing to do with sex or inflicting pain. It’s about letting me in here.” She leaned forward and put her index and middle finger flat against his forehead.

EIGHT: And Kanoa’s response to her:

“Do you want me in here?” She poked him again.

He finally lifted his head, a determined, neutral expression on his face. “If you think you can handle it.”

SEVEN: Kanoa’s impression of Laney and what she wants from him:

Her fidgeting movements, and eagerness to touch him told him she liked what she saw and wanted him in ways he’d only been able to signify in one word…dirty.

SIX: Laney’s description of Kanoa to her sister:

“Fine, everything is perfect. He’s hotter than sex-on-a-stick and muscles, everywhere. I think he’s rocking a zero body fat percent. And he’s loyal to his friends, rides a motorcycle—you are seriously missing out tonight, Lace.”

FIVE: Laney’s twin joking about her infamous bench:

Laney shook her head. “Fine. He needs to be forced to submit, to be deprived. He expressed interest in the St. Andrew ’s cross and the bed. But his favorite was my saddle bench.”

“Everyone’s a sucker for the cowboy getup.”

FOUR: Kanoa’s desperation once Laney has him secured:

“Name it and I will do it, Pretty Woman.” How he wanted it to involve worshipping her. To touch her, even. The waiting sent him to new heights of torture.

THREE: Laney’s response:

She approached him, crouching on his left side. Whispering in his ear, she said, “I want you to be silent and taste what you do to me.”

TWO: Garrett, Laney’s friend, and dungeon owner’s pep talk:

The bartender shook his head and leaned closer. “I won’t pretend to know all the details, but I get a lot of folks in here searching for someone to relieve them of their pain. They aren’t seeking honesty or truth, but a way to silence the building storm inside them. The people I’ve rented out those downstairs rooms to provide the answer. Personal information and facts are usually cast to the wayside. Now, I get it. You’re the type who wants everyone to be straightforward because you hold yourself to such a high standard. But, if she’d been honest with you, would you have trusted your pain to her? You expected someone else, planned on someone else, right?”

ONE: Kanoa’s final offer to Laney:

“I think I owe you dessert this round.”

Book #2 Desperately Seeking Submissive

When her sister gets sick on the night of her 1Night Stand date, Laney Malcolm is asked to fill in and pretend to be her twin. Treating it as a lark, she looks forward to an adventurous event with a free dinner and not much else. She isn’t prepared for the fierce attraction nor the urge to help the Hawaiian, tattooed submissive she’s introduced to.

Kanoa Mahelona has spent the last year trying to find himself, but he’s tired of random hook-ups and women who only want him for his bad-boy image. Madame Eve helped his boss, so he turns to her for assistance. Attractive and damn good at breaking through his barriers, the blonde Domme challenges him in a way he can’t seem to turn down.

Only she’s not who she appears to be, and, once the truth comes out, it may be too late to go back.

blog excerpt 2016

She’d been gone for nearly twenty minutes, and Kanoa almost went to see if she had fallen into the toilet or something. Instead, he’d busied himself with cleaning up their dinner trash. The restaurant was big on self-service to help keep costs down. When he’d returned to stand by their table, she walked around the corner from the bathroom and headed for him.

“I apologize for taking so long. My sister called.”

“Is everything all right?” He hoped this wouldn’t put an end to their evening. Neither of them sat back down, and, as the moment unfurled, the air grew thick. So thick, he’d swear he’d been transported to the island in the humid summer.

She smiled, a half grin that didn’t quite meet her eyes but gave him a bit of reassurance. “Nothing at all. She wanted to make sure everything was going okay and ask me to pick up a few things when I go home later. She’s got a nasty bug, snuck up on her really.”

“Are you sure you don’t need to leave?”

“Well, I planned on leaving…with you.”

The end of her sentence lingered as well. An open invitation he merely had to pluck from the air with open arms of acceptance. There were some unspoken invitations, too. No doubt involving a scene during which, he’d be expected to submit. To give her permission to call the shots. The only other time he’d allowed such a thing was in the military, allowing his superiors to control the what, where, who, and how he did things. The why, well, such a question fell beyond his pay grade.

“I’m up for dessert.” He held a hand out to her, and she clasped his large, dark one with her small, slender, pale one. A perfect fit, and he loved how she radiated warmth and enjoyed being touched.

“Do you mind following me?” She asked the question with her head cocked to one side and a mischievous smirk.

“Not at all. Lead the way.”

Top Ten Fun Facts About Diamond Moon

by Celia Breslin

It’s the twelfth book (and a stand-alone read) in Decadent Publishing’s Black Hills Wolves, a shared world, multi-author series.
Darci, the heroine, is half human, half Wolf shifter. And a vegetarian.
Ross is a Dominant Wolf, who made a fortune in the software industry. He’s using his money to build homes for the homeless Wolf shifter families in his community.
Darci carries around a pink taser and knows how to use it. A recent college graduate with a degree in Computer Science, she is also rarely without her laptop.
Ross loves an intelligent woman. Lucky him, wicked smart Darci lands on his doorstep during a storm.
Darci is petite and curvy, with pale skin, green eyes and black hair styled in a pixie cut. If the book were a movie, the actress to play Darci would be: Amanda Seyfried or Emma Stone (with black hair).
Ross is quite tall with a runner’s body of lean, hard muscle. Brown hair with red highlights worn straight to his shoulders. Brown eyes. If the book were a movie, the actor to play Ross would be: Chris Hemsworth or Alex Pettyfer.
Darci loves Snickerdoodles.

Fortunately for Darci, Ross knows a great baker to keep her well supplied in sugar. :-)
A kitten wandered into Ross’s house one day and adopted the Dominant Wolf as his new owner. Yes, A Wolf shifter has a pet cat!

blog excerpt 2016

He reached out with his Wolf senses. The feedback froze his fingers on the doorknob. Female. Damn, she smelled good. Human. Wolf. Wait…both? The copper tang of blood hit his nose. And injured.

He flung open the door. His abrupt move caught his visitor off guard, one small, white fist raised to knock. The woman startled and fell forward. Catching her, he pulled her inside, kicking the door shut with his foot.

She sagged against him, a shivering bundle of wet woman. Underneath the dampness, her scent drop-kicked his gut. Apples and cinnamon. Roses and honey. His body perked up, taking extreme notice. He fought the growl of possession threatening to tear out of his throat. Holy hell, had his potential mate just walked into his home in the middle of a storm?

The scent of her blood jump-started his brain into action. He lowered her gently to the floor. “Jesus. You okay?”

His instincts urged him to check her for wounds, but he was a stranger and didn’t want to spook her. But goddamn, he wanted to touch her. Peel off her wet clothes. See all of her. With a jacket covering her torso, tight jeans hiding her legs, and her ball cap pulled low on her face, all he’d seen so far was her quivering pale chin, full red lips, and those delicate, trembling hands.

“S-s-sorry, d-dripping all ov-v-ver your f-f-floor,” she said, teeth chattering. Her snow white fingers curled on the hardwood, arms trembling with her effort to keep herself upright. Blood streaked the wood. A line of liquid crimson slid down her jaw and dripped from her chin onto her jacket.

To hell with propriety. “You’re injured. Let me help you.” He pulled off her cap and damn near swallowed his tongue.

Big green eyes blinked up at him from a face so pale it made him think of moonlight. Drenched, short black hair lay plastered to her head, the ends framing features reminiscent of the fairies his sister loved to draw for the hidden-object games she designed. Ethereal beauty. My beauty. He stroked a knuckle down her cheek then ran his thumb over her soft, full lower lip.

She flinched and batted his hand away, falling to her side in the process.

Ross snapped back to reality with a healthy hit of guilt. “Shit. Sorry.”

His gaze shot to her forehead where a two-inch cut sent blood trailing over her prominent cheekbone with its silky-smooth skin he’d so enjoyed caressing—

Shit. He gave himself a mental ass kicking for scaring her. “I’m Ross. You’re safe here. Promise.”

Melina refuses to return to Earth in Never Gonna Let You Go #MidWeekTease @DecadentPub

Get teased, titillated, and tantalized with this week's Mid Week Tease

Happy Wednesday! It’s time for Mid Week Tease. For today’s post, I’m sharing another excerpt from NEVER GONNA LET YOU GO, which is part of The Complete Underground Series box set on sale for 99¢ USD this month.

sale, 99¢, ebook, box set, futuristic, science fiction, romance, LGBT, The Complete Underground Series, Jessica E. Subject, Never Gonna Let You Go

Setup: I skipped ahead from some of the other teases I’ve shared from this story. In this excerpt, Calla has just learned some life altering information about the company she works for. Now, she learns the Mission Commander does not want to return to Earth because of this information.

“He’ll never let Brook and me be together. That’s why I’m staying here. If I return and stand up to him, I’ll lose Brook, my career, and possibly even my life.”

“You’ll die here if you stay.” She didn’t much care for Melina right now, but understood where she was coming from. She rested a hand on her shoulder. “You can’t do this. No one will be here to help you.” She wouldn’t wish the attack she’d experienced on anyone.

Melina shook her head. “I’ll survive. And even if I don’t, my death will be quicker and less painful here.”

“What about the next crew? Can’t you just wait for them?” There had to be a better solution. Too many unknowns existed on the planet to leave her here alone.

“The camp will be miles from here, and when they arrive, they’ll most likely be under strict orders to shoot me if they find me.”

Calla sat up. “I can’t let you do this, Melina.”

“You have no choice.” She shuffled toward the tent flap.

Jessica E. Subject’s Weekly Writing Update ~ March Break Madness

Writing Update 2016

Hello! It’s Tuesday, and time for my Weekly Writing Update. This past week was March Break for my children. While I didn’t get as much writing done as I had hoped, I did get a lot accomplished that I had been putting off for a while.

I have an author page on Book Bub! The books they drew in did not include all of my titles, and some of the titles needed to be updated to the new versions, but they were extremely quick to update it for me. So now, if you follow me there, you will receive notification when I have a new release. Also, when I do apply and get a Book Bub ad, it will arrive in your daily email with great deal on ebooks.

I’M ON INSTAGRAM! Okay, I’ve been considering this for a while. But, had no idea how it worked. I jumped in with both feet and have somewhat figured it out. Though, I’m still not sure how to share posts without sending it directly to someone. You can find me on Instagram here.

BRYCE ~ This week, I added 1,140 new words to Bryce. These words are all from Bryce’s POV in the last chapter. After this, there will be an epilogue that gives a hint into the next book in the series.

BONUSES FROM LAST WEEK ~ I have started redesigning the book pages on my site. I have only switched over two, but I plan on rearranging the rest as I get a chance. I learned how to use the Click to Tweet plugin for WordPress. I got my son to ride his bike without training wheels. It took a few hours, and a lot of convincing him that throwing his bike in the garbage or on the road was not going to work, but on the second day, he was riding it as if he’s known how for a couple years.

GOALS FOR THE WEEK ~  I’m really hoping to finish the 1st draft of Bryce, and get in some reading. I will switch over more book pages as well.

Please share what you have been up to this week. Are you reading or writing anything new?

#8Sunday: Searching for a way through the portal in the Complete Underground Series box set #scifi #romance

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

I’m continuing this week with another snippet from Never Gonna Say Goodbye, which is part of The Complete Underground Series, a box set on sale for only 99¢ this month. It’s a futuristic dystopian series about a corporation that uses lies to control people and a group of rebels fighting for their freedom.

This excerpt continues from last week where Will and Brook, along with a few others, have discovered a row of nine dead bodies, all those sent on the mission with Brook. The first line of dialogue is Brook speaking.

“I think they’re dead because of me. My fa…Benson didn’t want anyone to find out he ordered his daughter’s death, so he terminated them. Just like he did my mother.”

“All the more reason for us to take him down.” Will couldn’t allow her to stop and grieve. She would never be held responsible for any of the deaths by her father’s hands. But they had to stop him before there were any more. “Let’s search the camp for our way inside.”

Will and his crew rifled through the pockets of the deceased and emptied every bag and case in the camp. Yet, they couldn’t find the code to open the portal.

My Sexy Saturday

Hello and welcome to the 133rd week of My Sexy Saturday.

Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.

Today’s theme is…

MY SEXY CARRIAGE

For today’s post, I’m sharing an excerpt from NEVER GONNA DESERT YOU, which is part of my futuristic world stories in The Complete Underground Series box set, on sale for 99¢ USD this month.

Setup: In this futuristic world, there are no carriages. So, I’ve decided to share a secret moment between two lovers.

Reaching into her bag, Brook pulled out a container, her present to Melina. “Happy anniversary.”

Her girlfriend accepted the gift with a look of caution. “Thank you. What is it?”

“Open it.” Brook nodded, anxiously awaiting her reaction.

Melina pulled the lid from the container and gasped. “Strawberries?” She sniffed the bowl. “They have a smell. They’re not replicated. Where did you find them?”

“I grew them for you.”

“You did?” Melina’s eyes glazed over.

She nodded. She would do anything for Melina. “Yes. I remember you telling me how you wanted to taste them, see if I….” Her cheeks flushed. If I taste the same.
