Xia struggles with separating client from lover in AN UNEXPECTED RETURN #MySexySaturday #scifirom
Hello everyone! Today is the 31st week of My Sexy Saturday, and the first for 2014. I hope your holidays went well and I wish you all the very best for 2014!
For today’s excerpt, I’m going to share another seven from AN UNEXPECTED RETURN. I shared seven two weeks ago, but if you missed them, you can find them here.
Set-up: Xia has been trained in the art of erotic massage, but she is just now working with her first client. And she didn’t know beforehand that he was the sexy stranger she met on her way to the appointment. Now, she must make it through to the end while trying to keep her heart guarded. Sometimes Aris makes that easy for her.
She crawled up onto the bed, positioning herself between Aris’s spread legs. His ample arousal jutted high into the air, ready to take pleasure in her mouth. But she’d follow procedure, spending time on other parts of his body first. With the eletin in her system reducing her inhibitions and heightening her body’s responses every time she touched his bare skin, if she broke the routine she’d come to memorize, she’d wind up putty in his hands. Not ideal for her first client. She had to remain in control.
After she’d poured more oil onto his chiseled chest, she leaned forward to massage it in. She pressed firmly into his hard muscles, not having to push through scales and layers of other physiological coverings like the mannequins she’d used in training. Aris’s body presented everything out front to her, including his damn enticing cock. Never before had she wanted a male appendage in her mouth so much. She tried to ignore the tip pressing against her stomach, dancing against her skin with every stroke of her hands across his chest. But she couldn’t. Cream built up in her molten core, urging her to take the massage into foreign territory. She longed to be filled by a man. By Aris.
No! She leaned back, skipping the massage of his temples, his scalp, and his underarms, for she was required to lean over him rather than move around to his head, and that would take her core dangerously close to his hard shaft. She couldn’t allow him to bring her any pleasure, heighten her emotional connection to him, and leave her susceptible to heartbreak. Aris is your client.
Kalara and Jacobus both swore her heart would recognize the difference between a client and a lover, but she preferred to keep her heart guarded from them all.
Working Aris’s inner thighs, Xia returned to a safer zone. Yet his engorged flesh now stood tall and in her face, tempting her again to take him into her mouth. His alluring, musky scent radiated into her nasal passages, overpowering the eletin. Her resolve wavered, but she couldn’t give in, refused to give up control. His pleasure and subsequent release remained her goal for the night, not her own.
Aris thrust his hips into the air. “I’m ready for you to massage my dick with your sweet mouth.”
She rolled her eyes. What had she seen in him? He was just there to satisfy his own needs. He’d only be a one-time client, and never call on her again.

The Lure of the Incubus – Guest Post by @RosalieLario ~ Enter to WIN a Prize Pack!
The Lure of the Incubus
Guest Post by Rosalie Lario
It’s no secret that I love the paranormal genre. I’ve been obsessed with all things supernatural ever since I can remember. Give me ghosts, werewolves, and vampires, and I’m a happy girl. That’s why it was no surprise to those who knew me when I started writing paranormal novels. I have to confess, though, that of all the supernatural creatures to write, my favorite is demons. And of all the demon varieties, probably the most fun has been my incubus hero, Cresso.
Cresso is no ordinary demon. He’s a biochemist who works for the research lab funded by the council governing travel between dimensions, so clearly he’s quite intelligent. He’s also an incubus, a being who gets his sustenance through sexual energy. Given that he’s single when we first meet him, you can say he’s a bit of a playboy. But he has a secret. He’s fallen in love with his coworker, Genevieve Russell, a chemical analyst who most definitely detests womanizers. As we learn in Heart of the Incubus (Book 3.5 of the Demons of Infernum series), she’s got a good reason for doing so. But her apparent distaste for him doesn’t stop Cresso from doing everything he can to earn Gen’s love.
So what is it about Cresso that Gen finds so hard to resist? Well first, he’s breathtakingly gorgeous. Genetically it only makes sense; his perfect beauty serves to lure in his prey. Second, he’s as smart as she is, and who can turn down a man with a brain? Finally, well there’s a reason incubi have earned their place in lore. They’re unparalleled lovers…and who wouldn’t want to experience that at least once?
Without further ado, here’s more about Cresso and Gen’s story:
Biochemist Cresso Taylor lives the sort of lifestyle most men would envy—he has wealth, natural incubus charm, and more women than he can handle. But it’s not enough anymore. Not after meeting Genevieve Russell, the sexy scientist who works with him at Elcorp Laboratory. And she wants absolutely nothing to do with him.
After her fiancé broke her heart, Genevieve has had enough of womanizers. She’s determined to steer clear of sexy-as-sin Dr. Taylor, despite the fact that his incubus allure makes her want to rip his clothes off. But when a secret admirer’s affection turns to the macabre with threatening notes and grisly gifts, Cresso appoints himself her protector. As she and Cresso hunt her stalker, she discovers there’s a lot more to the sensual incubus than she ever imagined.
Heart of the Incubus is Available Now for Only $1.99!

She cut off when she saw him. He’d donned a pair of black slacks and was in the process of pulling a burgundy sweater over his head. His damp hair curled around his strong, masculine neck, and the sight of his bare chest—of the hard planes and well-defined muscles of his pecs
and abs—sent a bolt of pure lust racing through her body and into her loins. God, he was so
gorgeous. Heart-stopping.
How the hell had she resisted him for so long?
Cresso tugged on his sweater and met her gaze. “No, thanks.”
Genevieve resisted the urge to drool while she eyed his outfit. “Are you going somewhere?”
“Yes, I have a few things to take care of. Don’t worry—you’ll be safe here. I’ll ask Taeg and Maya to look in on you.”
Something about the way he said that put her senses on alert. “Everything okay?”
“Fine,” he said in a clipped tone.
“You don’t sound fine.”
When she started toward him, he held out his hand. “Stay there.”
She paused, suddenly uncertain. Had she done something to upset him? “What’s wrong?”
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “I’ve waited longer than I should. I need to go
“Go…feed,” she repeated numbly. He meant go have sex. With someone else. A sliver of
pain wrenched her stomach. She closed her arms around her waist. “Oh.”
Cresso reopened his eyes in time to see the pained expression she couldn’t quite manage to hide. Something bittersweet flashed across his face. “I can’t wait any longer. I don’t want to hurt you.”
“I understand.” Truly she did.
“Good.” His lips twisted into a half smile. “Left my shoes in the living room.”
When he headed for the doorway, she backed up so he could pass by her. But then it hit her. She couldn’t let him go.
“Cresso, wait.”
She reached out and grasped his arm, and he stopped midstride. The muscles in his arm went taut as he turned toward her. His jaw tight, he said, “Gen, please.”
Her stomach fluttered with nerves she had no chance of quelling. This was it, the moment of decision. Should she guard her heart and continue living her lonely life…or take a chance, even knowing what might go wrong?
Oh hell, there was no choice. Not really.
“Don’t go,” she whispered.
His eyes darkened and a muscle ticked in his jaw. “I have to feed.”
“Then”—she gave a nervous lick of her lips—“feed from me.”
His whole body went stiff. “Don’t tease me.”
Genevieve took a shaky breath. “I’m not.”
Cresso’s eyes widened and he slowly closed his hands over her arms. “Gen.” Her name sounded like a prayer on his lips.
She leaned into him. “Yes.”

Rosalie Lario is the award-winning, paranormal romance author of the Demons of Infernum and the Fallen Warriors series. Rosalie double majored in Anthropology and Classics as an undergraduate student, and briefly considered becoming an archaeologist before realizing they don’t actually live the life of Indiana Jones. So what was a classical geek armed with a lot of useless knowledge to do? Become a lawyer, of course!
After attending law school in Florida, she practiced real estate law for several years before finally admitting to herself that negotiating contracts wasn’t nearly as fun as dreaming up stories. She never imagined all the mythology she’d learned throughout her undergraduate education might actually come in handy, but it makes perfect fodder for the paranormal romance stories she now dreams up.
When not writing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children in their home state of Florida.

Rico had made it clear he wanted her from the moment they’d met. And Skylar was honest enough to admit, at least to herself, that she wasn’t totally immune to his charms. But she was a soldier, and she’d had every intention of keeping her mind, and the rest of her, firmly fixed on her mission.
Right up until five minutes ago.
Now, with this lovely buzzing in her blood and Rico’s hard sex pressing against her, taunting her with delicious possibilities, she was rethinking her strategy. After all, she was working undercover. Maybe she didn’t have to be quite so rigid in her attitudes. And wasn’t that the key to being a successful operative—the ability to adapt your approach to changing circumstances?
As long as she stayed in control of the situation, why couldn’t she have this one time? It wasn’t outside the parameters of her character, and she could always say afterwards that she’d been under the influence. Perhaps she could even accuse Rico of taking advantage. Skylar had to bite back a smile at the idea. She had a strong suspicion he wouldn’t mind the accusation, possibly even reveling in the slight.
How long had it been since she’d kissed a man? How long since she’d even wanted to? So many years she couldn’t remember. But then, having a whole load of people in your head could be inhibiting.
Now she didn’t feel self-conscious. She felt wild and hot, every nerve ending sensitized.
A vague doubt nagged at her, but she shoved it aside. Rico Sanchez was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. Looking into that hard, handsome face sent frissons of pleasure shivering over her skin, tightening the hard knot of desire in her belly. The taste of him lingered on her tongue, her breasts ached, her sex swollen with need.
She shifted slightly, so the rigid line of his erection pressed more firmly against her core, and the knot unraveled, her insides melting.
She tried the movement again, and flames licked through her, burning along her nerves, settling between her thighs. Closing her eyes, she concentrated on the sensations, rocking herself against him. So close.
“You don’t feel light-headed?”
The question broke her concentration, and her lids fluttered open. Rico was watching her, his brows drawn together.
“My head feels fine.” She moved in closer to kiss him, but his hands gripped her shoulders and fended her off.
What the hell? He’d come on to her strong; now he watched her as though he didn’t quite understand what was going on. Maybe he was one of those guys who liked to make all the moves.
“How about the rest of you?” he asked.
Gritting her teeth, she forced a smile. “The rest of me is fine as well.”
“You’re not disorientated? You know what you’re doing?”
She rolled her eyes. “Well I thought I did, though I have to admit it’s been a while.” A horrible idea occurred to her. “Is this some weird vampire shit? Do vampires even have sex? Everlasting Hell, don’t tell me you’re impotent.”
Scavenger Hunt Quote: “Christ, I wish you were wrong. I’d love your right fang. I’d wear it on a chain around my neck.” Tannis sighed.

Unknown Futures: Celebrating TWO year book birthday! @DecadentPub #1NightStand #LGBT
Happy New Year peeps! It’s great to see you all for my first post in 2014. This year, things are going to change a bit on the blog. You’ll be seeing more of me, and less from guests. I am no longer working with tour companies, as chasing down posts and getting them ready has been using us too much of my writing time. Also, I have left the multi-author blogs that I used to post on, so that I can focus on my own blog instead.
So, it’s January, and this month, I’m celebrating FOUR BOOK BIRTHDAYS. This seems to be a popular release month for me. Though, I don’t have any for January 2014 (that I know of). The first book birthday is for UNKNOWN FUTURES, which is TWO years old today.
UNKNOWN FUTURES is the story of Jewel, who has been bullied and discriminated against from her teenage years. Not only because she is lesbian, but also due to the acid burn scars on her face from her high school prom date when she wouldn’t give into his sexual wants.
At the time I wrote this story, there was much media coverage about women who were splashed with acid, not only by their lovers, but also by strangers on the street.
This story is also about a woman named V, one of only a handful of people from Earth who work on the Space Service space station. She is very lonely, longing to return to Earth, but knows it will never happen based on the contract she signed.
For those who have read Celestial Seduction, you can also find out more about Frey and Carrie in Unknown Futures.
Here’s an excerpt. Enjoy!
V put her arm across her shoulders. “You’re staying with me.”
“I am?”
“The director thought it might be easier on you, since my suite is set up for people from Earth.” She guided Jewel down the hall. “I have an extra bedroom you can use.”
“But how’s that going to work with my date? Will we go somewhere else?” Shit! She wasn’t supposed to mention her reason for the trip. 1Night Stand kept their business dealings discreet.
“I’m not aware of the itinerary for your entire stay, but if you have something scheduled, I’ll make sure you get there. Right now, I’m supposed to get you settled in and keep you entertained.”
V stopped, her arms dropping to her side. “We’re about to go in the tube. It’s a transportation system for getting around the station. I admit, it feels really weird, but it’s
the fastest way to my place.” She smiled at a giant bug who seemed to have dropped from the sky. It waved a long, skinny limb before skittering off down the hall. “Since you’ve never traveled this way before, I’m going to hold your hands and we’ll go through together.”
V pressed a green button on the wall then linked their fingers. Jewel had no time to comprehend how the transport worked before they were sucked up into the air then shot through a narrow cylinder. She now knew what traveling through a shop vac would feel like. If she hadn’t been so worried about hitting someone else along the way and how
she’d land, she could have enjoyed her proximity to V. No matter how much she tried to
deny her feelings, she enjoyed her touch.
When they dropped out of the pipe, V reached out for her, but Jewel wasn’t ready for the impact. She crumpled to the ground, pulling the other woman down on top of her.
Giggling, V rolled off. “Thankfully, these floors are padded. I haven’t landed like that since my first week here.” She jumped to her feet then helped Jewel up.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know what to expect.” But she wasn’t sorry. Being that close to such a gorgeous woman awakened long dormant desires. If only she was my date, my one-night stand….
“No problem. I guess I should have explained the tube before we used it, but we had to get through while it was clear.” V grabbed her hand. “Come on, let’s get you settled. I have a lot planned.”
Unknown Futures
Science Fiction Lesbian Romance
Part of the 1Night Stand line at Decadent Publishing
Attacked as a young adult, Jewel is left scarred and alone. She applies to the 1 Night Stand service, believing no one can see past her appearance to love her. But she doesn’t expect to be sent to a space station where her date could be any number of unusual alien species.
Flavia left everything behind to be one of five humans working for the Space Service space station. Extremely homesick, she is excited to learn she will be a guide to a woman from Earth visiting the station for a couple days. She is immediately drawn to the petite woman, seeing past her scars to her true inner beauty, stirring unforeseen desires.
Unfortunately, Jewel is there for a date which Flavia hasn’t been told about. Can she contain her lust and simply show her a good time? Or will she let her desire lead them into an unknown future?

Author Jessica E. Subject does 2013 in review and reveals her 2014 projects
Happy New Year! Okay, it’s not 2014 yet, at least not in my time zone when I published this post. But the new year is coming.
I wish you all the very best for a fabulous 2014!
Thank you for all of your support this past year! Without you, I wouldn’t be where I am. You all mean the world to me.
2013 was another wonderful year for me, and I’ve made some big decisions. But, before I tell you about some of them, here’s my reading and writing wrap-up:
Favorite Stories of 2013
While I only read 27 short stories, novels, and novels this year (much less than last year), I read many more unpublished manuscripts from fellow authors, whether for pre-published review, beta read, critique, or judging in a contest. Of those already published, here are my top 10 favorite reads from 2013 in the order I read them:
Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Shades of Earth by Beth Revis
Healing Hearts by Liz Crowe
Ghost Planet by Sharon Lynn Fisher
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
Strangers by Barbara Elsborg
Divergent series by Veronica Roth
Archetype by M.D. Waters (releases in 2014)
And right now, I’m finishing up reading The Ophelia Prophecy by Sharon Lynn Fisher, which releases in 2014. I’m loving it!
Books Published:
I had eight stories published this year,
one print anthology and two free reads.
Thank you for making four of them category bestsellers at All Romance eBooks! And Alien Adoration made it to #40 on the overall bestseller list!
Here they are in the order they were published.
Click on the covers for more information.
Upcoming Release:
His Alien Virgin, a new adult science fiction romance, will be releasing soon from Decadent Publishing. It is another 1Night Stand story and involves characters from Satin Sheets in Space (published 2012).
Writing Goals for 2014:
In 2013, I self-published for the first time, and in 2014, I will continue to do so with some of my stories. I have one more story to write for my Alien Next Door series. Alien Attraction will involve Adam’s sister Michelle, who moves to the city. I also hope to self-publish another Alien for the Holidays story. I’m not sure what holiday I’ll choose this time. Any preferences?
In 2014, I’m also going to be writing some longer stories, including Always Her Wingman (new adult futuristic romance) and the rewrite of the first book in my Zurian series. I’d hoped to do that in 2013, but other projects came first.
In 2013, I started a Street Team on Facebook. There, I give sneak peeks of what I’m working on, show off my new covers first, offer chances to review my stories, and occasionally send out swag.
I’ve also started writing erotica under another pen name. I managed to publish one story under that name in 2013. And I hope to publish three more in 2014.
With even more stories outlined, I may publish and/or submit others, but these are the stories I must finish in 2014. And who knows what other stories and ideas will develop.
Thank you for a wonderful 2013! I appreciate all of your support! Let’s make 2014 the best yet!

Five People I’d Like To Meet – Guest Post & #Giveaway from @AuthorARHarris #newadult

Five People I’d Like to Meet
Guest Post by Angela Rae Harris
It is almost a new year and the tradition is to make a New Year’s resolution right about now. Well, I’m not very good at New Year’s resolutions. In fact, last year my goal was to watch every James Bond movie. Easy right? Well, this year I’m doing more of a life time goal. It might be a little far-fetched but sometimes it is better to dream! Here are the five people I’d like to meet in no particular order.
Chip Foose – Chip Foose is a very talented artist and cars are his specialty. He had a reality show on TCL called Overhaulin’ where they rebuilt old cars in only a week!
Ellen DeGeneres – This remarkable lady is a comedian, talk show host, Dory the fish and had the biggest heart in showbiz. She just seems like one of those people who could come to your house, sit on your couch and have an amazing conversation with. And I wouldn’t even be worried about how chaotic my house looked.
Danny Koker – Danny Koker is another car guy on my list. He has a shop in Las Vegas and a show on History called Counting Cars. He is a car collector and his cars mean more to him than just metal and paint. He doesn’t keep them because they are rare or expensive. His cars are his diary. Each one of them hold a meaning and tell a story about a point in his life.
Robert Downey, Jr – I’m pretty sure that Robert Downey, Jr. is really Tony Stark playing Robert Downey, Jr. And did you know that he could sing and has an album? The fact that he hit bottom and came shoot back up to the top inspires me.
J.K. Rowling – Not only did she bring a new world into our lives she made it possible for many teenagers to enjoy reading again. Her idea for Harry Potter came to her seven years before she started writing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. She is proof that you should never give up on yourself.
Thank you for having me as a guest! Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve!
Question: Who would you like to meet? And what is your New Year’s resolution?

Read an Excerpt:
Keaira jumped when her desk phone rang. Cursing, she picked up the phone.
“Mr. Scott’s office.”
“Hey, it’s Carson.”
Keaira felt her face light up.
“Oh. Hi. How did you get my work number?” Keaira shook her head at her own stupid question. “Ugh, I think I already knew the answer to that.”
“Sorry. I talked to my dad this morning. Just thought I’d warn you that he was asking questions about us.” He sounded a little unsure of himself.
“It’s not a big deal. So, what’s up?”
Keaira twirled her chair around to stare at the boring white wall behind her.
“I was just going to tell you I’d really like to see you again. How does tomorrow night sound?”
Keaira pushed her foot lightly against the floor to turn the chair the way around and rested her elbows on her desk. The deep sound of his voice made her feel a little light headed.
“I’m free.” Keaira caught herself before she giggled. I will not act like a giddy little school-girl over a guy, even Carson.
“Dinner and bowling with my friends all right with you?” He sounded nervous, not at all like the confident, easy-going Carson of the night before.
“Sounds like fun.”
“Last time you shot down my idea, so I just wanted to make sure. I’ll pick you up after work.” Now he was back to the cocky Carson she had been with last night.
“See ya then. Bye.”
Keaira turned back around to hang up, but the cord wouldn’t reach the cradle. She untangled it from around the chair and freed the finger that was all wrapped up in the cord from twisting it while she was talking to Carson. Gah, I am acting like a school-girl. Who doesn’t use cordless phones these days anyways.
Keaira was so distracted she didn’t see Mr. Scott come into her office. She nearly fell out of her chair when she looked up. She could understand not hearing or seeing him enter, but surely she should have smelled his cologne when he came into the room. I hate that cologne.
He tried to smile. To Keaira it just looked like a sneer. She’d love to be the one who wiped it from his face one day.
He said, “Sorry, did I interrupt something?”
She narrowed her eyes at him. He knew damn well she had just been on the phone with Carson.
“Not interrupting, no.”
He set a handful of papers on her desk. “New membership information.”
Keaira took the papers and started looking through them. Despite her obvious attempt to ignore him, the General didn’t leave. She avoided his gaze as she started transferring bank accounts and phone numbers to the computer. He pulled up a chair to the front of the desk.
“So how are things going with Carson?”
He unbuttoned his navy-blue suit jacket as he sat down, exposing the crisp white dress shirt underneath.
Keaira didn’t look at him.
“Considering you are my boss and he is your son, there are two strikes against you. I guess the fact that you hold my life in your hands is the third reason why I will not talk to you about anything having to do with me and Carson.”
The General chuckled. “I knew I could trust you to keep secrets.”
Keaira tried not to let him affect her, but the tremor, which ran up her spine, couldn’t be stopped. Her fingers clenched into fists, and she figured that while he was in a good mood she would broach the subject that had been nagging at her all day.
“Speaking of secrets, why are you keeping your, um, plans from your family?”
She held her breath, hoping she would not regret acting on her curiosity. She peered at him out of the corner of her eye.
The General sighed and looked at her oddly. Funny, he thinks he can trust me. Keaira inwardly laughed. She met his brown eyes as he stared at her. A minute passed with neither of them moving. He finally leaned back in his chair and closed the door. Keaira relaxed a bit, allowing herself to breathe.
“I don’t want to put them in harm’s way any more than I already have. Those who deny the rise of the higher class may try to get information out of them.”
He spoke quickly. Keaira had the feeling he wasn’t telling her the whole reason.
Not being the best at holding her tongue, Keaira whispered, “You don’t want them to try to stop you.”
The General suddenly stood and then returned the chair to its place in the corner. He turned back toward Keaira, and she slumped into her chair as his brown eyes bore into hers.
“I love my family. I will not let anything hurt them.” He gave her one last hard glance as he opened the office door and left.
Keaira sat there, mouth wide open and watched him leave.
She believed the General loved his family but on selfish terms. This man was insane, and he held her life and the lives of many others in his hands. If it were not for the collateral the General had over Keaira, she would want nothing to do with his scheme to rule over the humans. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she reminded herself he had the ability to take any life he wanted. She wasn’t the only one in danger. Right now she was just thankful her big mouth didn’t get her into even bigger trouble.

An erotic massage for Prince Aris in AN UNEXPECTED RETURN #scifirom #99cents
Hello everyone! There is no My Sexy Saturday today, but I thought I’d share an excerpt anyway. Hope your holidays are going well and I wish you all the very best for 2014!
For today’s excerpt, I’m going to share seven from AN UNEXPECTED RETURN, which is one of seven of my stories that is ON SALE for only $0.99 right now.
Set-up: Prince Aris arranges for an erotic massage while visiting the pleasure planet, Elatia. Little does he know that the woman who will give him the massage is newly graduated from her training in the art of erotic massage. She is also the woman he ran into earlier in the day, the one he can’t get out of his mind. The only problem is, she’s not too pleased to see him.
She unzipped her appointment bag. “You may call me Adamo.”
“And you may call me Aris.” I plan to have you screaming my name by the end of the night.
“I prefer sir. Please lie still and relax.”
He sighed. One way or another, he would break down her walls.
Oil sloshed onto his back, the strong scent of eletin encapsulating the room. As Xia’s hands met his bare skin, he tensed then melted into a puddle. Her hands worked to loosen every muscle throughout his back, down his legs, and along his arms. No touch had ever made him so rested, yet raring to go at the same time. Though this was her first time, she’d learned well, digging deep into his body. He couldn’t wait to turn over and experience her knowledge of his other erogenous zones.
Trailing a finger down his spine, she whispered, “It’s time to move to the bed, sir. Please lie on your back.”
With his legs flimsy like rubber, he wobbled over to the bed, his mind set on how to seduce her, make her want him the way he wanted her.

Vampires and Christmas? Guest post by @AmyLeeBurgess & $25 Amazon GC #Giveaway!
Vampires and Christmas?
Guest post by author Amy Lee Burgess
Vampires and Christmas? Not two things you’d normally associate together, but in Blood Gift, Christmas plays a key role.
The vampires of the London Circle each bear a mark on their bodies. A small black X. Claire, the protagonist, discovers that this mark is actually a rune. Gebo. The rune embodies the concept of the gift and exchange. Not just presents wrapped in pretty paper with bows, but intangible things like love. Trust. Forgiveness.
When one person gives another a gift, there is a reciprocity. The receiver becomes subtly beholden to the giver. The receiver could repay the debt with gratitude, with another gift – something in proportion to what was given.
Giving gifts creates a bond. Or could break these bonds into jagged pieces.
For Claire, Christmas has always been a nightmare. Her abusive mother would bury her beneath mountains of store-bought gifts and demand gratitude and loyalty in return. Claire could never give enough back to satisfy her mother and as a consequence has come to believe she doesn’t know how to accept gifts. Nor does know how to give them.
Enter Andre, the man of her dreams. Andre understands the concept of Gebo. As he tells Claire in one scene, he likes to give gifts that require heavy lifting. His gifts always have deliberate thought behind them. This terrifies Claire who doesn’t know how to accept the gift of love Andre is offering.
Claire has to figure it out though, because if she cannot bond with Andre – have a meaningful and intense exchange with him – she will slowly go insane thanks to her psychic powers.
Love and trust are gifts that are hard for Claire to accept, but even harder for her to give.
Andre and Claire’s story ends on a rainy Christmas night in London. Is Claire able to put aside the past to embrace the future or will she descend into madness?

When Claire became a vampire, she hoped she could forget her abusive past. But her mentor, the sexy, perfect Parker destroys her dreams of a new start. Soon, Claire devotes her new found psychic powers to helping abused women.
Drawn to the mysterious and handsome Andre, another master in the London Circle and Parker’s archrival, Claire enters into a passionate clandestine affair which causes her powers to ramp out of control. Wild, sensual sex morphs into something deeper and, for Claire, terrifying. Andre soon discovers her abilities and realizes he is her trigger–the one vampire in the world who can help her control her spiraling powers.
Bonding with him requires Claire to trust and accept his love, two things she cannot bring herself to do. The gift of love is something her past won’t allow her to accept. Even so, Andre will have to reach her in time to save her life or stake her when her powers drive her insane.

“Claire.” Andre’s voice was heavy with desire. The way he said my name with his slight Irish accent was different from the way everyone else said it. I felt special. Different. As if I mattered.
I turned my head to look at him. He had me pinned to the grass, one hand on either side of my shoulders. I’d locked my ankles so my heels pressed into the small of his back. His eyes were smoldering dark, and my lips parted.
That was all the invitation he needed. The burning shock of his mouth against mine was electric, and I brought my hands up so I could bury my fingers in his soft hair. I had just enough presence of mind to weave a shield of privacy so that mortals didn’t register we were there and avoided walking near.
Andre and I connected like interlocking pieces of a vast puzzle. Our kiss went supernova hot in an instant. I curled my tongue around his, and the whole world froze. Mortals were nearby, but their thoughts abruptly cut out of my head. For all I was aware, Andre and I were the only two beings on earth .
The explosive taste of his blood made me moan. He’d deliberately nicked his tongue on his fang. My own fangs burst from my gums, and I scraped my tongue against one of them. Blood spurted, and it was Andre’s turn to groan. The cold grass beneath my body seemed to disappear as if I floated weightless with only Andre’s kiss to anchor me. Time sputtered and died, and nothing mattered but his hot mouth moving against mine.
“Claire,” Andre said again through the blood in his mouth.
Four golden weeks I’d waited for him to kiss me, and now he was, and it was glorious.
“I’m going to make love to you in the grass if we don’t stop.” He increased the pressure of his lips against the hollow of my throat. “Come home with me, angel.”
“Dre,” I whispered, shaking with fear and desire—I wasn’t sure which was stronger. On fire for him, I didn’t want him to stop touching me. While his body was pressed to mine, we had all the time in the world, but when he moved away, would everything crash? “I’m scared.”
“Of me?” He lifted his head so he could look into my eyes. The night around us was alive with the sound of crickets. Stars wheeled in the sky, and the earth pressed against my back. I was suspended in the universe. Nothing mattered but him.
Us.
I touched his cheek with the tip of my finger, traced a line to his sensual mouth. I wanted to kiss him and taste my blood mingled with his. “Of everything. Of this not being real. That this is all a lie like Parker says. That I don’t matter. That nothing matters. That this is a race to see who can hurt the other first.”
He winced as if in pain, and I buried my face in his shoulder. He pulled me tightly into his embrace and rested his forehead against my head. “I won’t hurt you. I swear I won’t.”
