I'm Told I'm Kreativ

I was recently honored with the Kreativ Blogger award by Limebird Writers. Thank you so very much. There are, of course, rules that go with the award. As such, I must list ten things you don't know about me and pay this forward to six other bloggers.

First, the random trivia:

1. I watched so many Disney movies as a child that I was able to answer every single question in Disney Trivial Pursuit and even spot the mistakes.

2. I wrote my own version of Dante's Inferno in high school and populated a...

Dominance vs Control

Republished while GC types her fingers to the bone trying to meet deadlines…

It is my personal opinion that dominance and control are two different things. To my way of thinking, the inherent difference is that a Dominant inspires the desire to submit, whereas, control is simply exerting one's will over another via various means.

For instance, I readily admit that there are times where I've allowed my actions to be controlled through fear or avoidance of a particular consequence. That did not m...

BDSM Normal or Not?

Republished while GC types her fingers to the bone trying to meet deadlines…

I was re-reading my posts, something I tend to do since I've been known to screw up my commas and miss a word here and there, and I came across this statement in my post Choosing a Dominant for Submission … "normal vanilla relationship." In retrospect, I have to wonder at this Freudian slip. Yes, I was absolutely raised that anything remotely BDSM-like was abnormal and deviant. That it was the kind of behavior that...

40ish Woman seeking a…

Beta reader!

For real, though, I have a submission I'm preparing for the Writing Out Child Abuse anthology and my dear reader and fellow blogger, Fyeahandroidtomato, has already graciously read my submission and given me some wonderful constructive criticism. I'd like to get at least one more read before I submit it.

The only thing you have to do is read it and tell me what worked and what didn't. I'm looking for whether the plot points are realistic, the characters well-developed and the...

Porn: What's In it for Me?

So, I made the committment to my dear reader, Cruel, to post something dirty today and I thought, what's "dirtier" than porn? Many of you are now aware that I grew up in a repressed household. I never discussed sex with my parents, but yet I've somehow always known what it was. By the age of five, my one and only Barbie got it on frequently with my hand-me-down Ken doll. I read Lady Chatterley's Lover at the age of about eightish and was exposed to anal sex. I also saw the porn Emanuelle in...

My Soulmate

I met my soul mate three years ago. I wasn't looking. I resisted him with every ounce of my being. It wasn't the right time. My relationship was a mess. My emotional bandwidth was at an all time low. The instant I saw him, however, I was struck by how beautiful he was. His eyes were a soulful shade of brown that just pulled at my heart strings and the pain in them called to me. I'd heard of the abuse he'd suffered and it sickened me. I sat on the floor and he wouldn't let me give him no as...

Pornography vs. Erotica

Michelangelo's sculpture of David

Michelangelo's David

Republished while GC types her fingers to the bone trying to meet deadlines…

I participate on several listservs for erotica authors. Recently, my list mates and I have been discussing the fact that several of my fellow authors have had their Paypal accounts frozen and their money confiscated because Paypal determined they were pornographers and the selling of pornography violates Paypal's Terms & Conditions. This got me to thinking about the difference between porn and...

Dominance vs. Degradation

Republished while GC types her fingers to the bone trying to meet deadlines…

Before I tried to write erotica, I spent quite a bit of time reading it. I must admit, I resisted reading anything that wasn't clearly vanilla at first. Having been raised in a household rife with Christian guilt about what "good girls" did and didn't do, I was embarrassed by anything that hinted at BDSM and stayed clear of it despite being obviously intrigued. That is, until I downloaded Seducing Jane Porter by...

Something's Gotta Give

To all my dear and lovely readers,

I appreciate each and every single one of you. When I started this blog, it was just to work out some of my own thought processes. I honestly didn't expect to gain a community of people that make blogging an enjoyable experience that I look forward to. Unfortunately, I spread myself a bit thin and have been forced to come face to face with the knowledge that I am not superwoman. Cutting to the chase, I have book deadline and two government proposals due in...
