Buried Too Deep

Well the third and final part of my thriller serial is in this week's Woman's Weekly dated 11th March. it's called 'Buried Too Deep' and is set in the Peak District, UK. As far as I know, not even my nearest and dearest guessed the end! Yee ha! Job done! Now to write another one...

Busy times personally - we've sold the house and have 3 weeks to find rented, hire a removal company and move out. Found a house yesterday thank GOD! Now frantic packing, so guess it may be a while before I do some more writing, but once there I can start again. 2 weeks to go...

Meanwhile I'm getting such great feedback for 'Expected' that I'm seriously considering doing that sequel now.... and my supernatural thrillers is out with agents... no luck there as yet - but still a bit of work to do anyway, on the end. It's a real shocker of a book so I am praying it will get published and on the shelves!

Sun is out in sunny Dorset so on with the packing and sorting. Going to have a massive bonfire (we live out in the middle of nowhere so one of the perks!)

Back soon!

Confessions of a Chocoholic - all day event and free books to be won!

Chocolate,chocolate........mmmmmmmm.......what's your favourite? Mine is chocolate cheesecake, but also I love chunky kit-kats, and yorkies with biscuit and raisins in them....oh and chocolate mousse.......was anything so unfair as for it not to be as good for us as say, asparagus?

Well how about a book about a real chocoholic (whilst dipping into the chocolate box of course - just to make it really authentic and to get into the spirit of things)? Because today sees the launch of 'Confessions of a Chocoholic' by top women's comedy writer, Lynda Renham! By clicking on the event link below you can go straight to the all day competition and enter for any number of free books - by Sue Watson, Lynda Renham, myself and lots more....

If you would like to win a copy of my own comedy novel - Expected! - then you need to go to amazon via the following link http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DHKI2GY to find the answer to the following easy peasy question, which is in the book blurb: 1. How does Sam Sweet console herself as her life spirals out of control?

Clue - you may find it is chocolate related...

Now why on earth would you want to read Expected? Well it's my first comedy novel, (published by Crooked Cat); I'm a seasoned mag writer with lots more novels and magazine serials on the way, 'Expected' also has 30 amazon reviews and 29 of those had a great laugh! So - well, for a giggle basically.... and hopefully an unputdownable read.... (made up word)...

When you find the answer to how Sam Sweet treats/consoles herself - you then need to send it to Lynda -

to Chocolate@renham.co.uk - to win the book, which I will sign and send out to you. And here's the event to win lots of other books too........

http://www.facebook.com/events/275421...

Lynda also asks for a tiny tweet please too -' win #free signed book here http://on.fb.me/1arX5pT by @sarahengland Join us for fun and chocolate and lots of prizes #chocolate #launch @Lyndarenham '

30th Review for Comedy, 'Expected'

I was thrilled this morning to find the 29th review for my comedy novel, 'Expected' on Amazon! This is my first novel and was published by Crooked Cat in June last year. I'm now onto submitting a thriller and I have a murder-mystery serial coming out in Woman's Weekly very soon - end of the month I think - BUT - the plan is to do a sequel for Expected - which is a lot of fun! Here is what the latest reviewer said - so... can I tempt you too???

'This is one of the most entertaining books I've ever read. Firstly I was drawn to the fabulous cover design and from the very first paragraph the character of Sam Sweet totally engaged and captivated me. I read the entire book in two evenings as I simply couldn't put it down. The author has such a talent for creating realistic characters and a story line full twists and plenty of humour. One of my favourite sentences describing a character had me laughing out loud, here's a little taster - 'Bernie, meanwhile, crosses her twiglet legs in her mini-skirt so often she could start a fire.' Hilarious!
I would highly recommend this book and will be looking out for more from this
author.'

Oh - quick update - Expected just had its 30th review!!! 'If you are going to buy only one novel this year, then it should be Expected. Sarah England has written a wonderful story. I couldn't put the book down when I started because I wanted to know more ....'

My little heart sings....

All New!

Happy New Year everyone!
All new for me this year...on quite a large scale. First the house is sold and now it's a frantic search for a new home! Secondly - my supernatural thriller novel - the largest and most complex project I've ever undertaken - is now going out to agents...

This is a story based on a real person and real events, intertwined with lots of research into real case studies. There's a message and none of the terror is there for gratuitous purposes alone - although I've attempted to pump it full of shocks and twists throughout... so let's see what the experts think of the first 3 chapters! I will then either do the author dance or slink under a rock with a bottle of gin never to be heard of again!

If you would like to read either my comedy or my tales from the dark side - here are my books so far... Oh and I have a murder mystery serial out in Woman's Weekly (UK) out at the end of the month all being well! Bye for now! And wishing everyone on here a wonderful new year!

Hansel and Gretel

Is she the naughtiest step mother ever? My version of Hansel and Gretel is story of the week on http://www.alfiedog.com

And 'Expected' - my comedy novel - has just had its 28th review. Here's a snippet:
'We join our heroine, Sam Sweet, on a roller-coaster ride as she faces the increasing pressures of her horrible boyfriend, anxious mother, devious work colleagues and sexy new boss. Does she falter? Yes, all the time. She suffers, and we suffer with her, until finally she manages to find her way through, and we're finally able to give her a cheer. Written with energy, humour, and a joyful eye for the grotesque, this is a great read! '

I'm really thrilled the readers are enjoying it!

Oh and there is more - I have Scottish author, Nancy Jardine on my Fiction Hotel blog this week with a little talk on Celtic roundhouses in Fiction Tower - have you visited our new tower... you go up the spiral staircase to the little room at the top, which has a log fire and fully stocked bar..or just click on the tab at the top! Nancy has a brand new historical fiction novel out too... http://www.fictionhotel.blogspot.com There is just one more author to guest before Christmas - who could it be?

Sale and Fiction Hotel

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DHKI2GY
Expected - my comedy novel - is currently on sale price with Crooked Cat at just...77p! Just for the week so if you'd like to read it - now is a good time!

Actually when you read how Sam Sweet's Christmas panned out you will be really happy with your own! Toe curling.....yes!

Now I had the pleasure this week of interviewing Rebecca Raisin for Fiction Hotel. Rebecca is an Australian writer who has signed SIX books with Carina Press. Not only that but also - her first novel, 'Mexican Kimono' is now out and it's a comedy like 'Expected.' Rebecca was amazed at just how similar our styles and heroines are so I cannot wait to read this!

Find her interview and book info, including 'Christmas at the Gingerbread Cafe' in the cocktail lounge at Fiction Hotel, and all books are in the library. http://www.fictionhotel.blogspot.com

The library is really filling up now with books of all genres, and their authors interviewed in various luxury rooms in the fictional hotel - why not pay us a visit and enjoy?

All for now...

Gold Hill

http://www.sarahengland.yolasite.com

I had the embarrassment/joy of being featured in our local paper last week - it's a monthly magazine called 'Shaftesbury Matters' and I was interviewed and photographed on Gold Hill in Shaftesbury - remember the Hovis advert? Gold Hill was also filmed in Far from the Madding Crowd'.

I do look hugely embarrassed in the photo and that's because there were people outside the cafe looking on! Shriek! And also the fact that the printer seems to have painted me pink anyway... ha!

The only way I could show the feature, as it's an adobe attachment from my scanner - is to create a new page on my website called 'Press Release' and paste it on there - it takes a few seconds to download. The article itself I'm pleased with as my psychiatric work is mentioned and what I'm hoping to achieve with my writing... I'm really at the beginning even after 10 years...

Catch you later...

Laughing through the Pain

Over-joyed to find the 27th review on amazon for my comedy novel 'Expected'. And even happier to find my 'star' - Sam Sweet - managed to make this lady laugh while she waited for the dentist...Here is what she said:

'This novel had me laughing while I waited to have root canal treatment at the dentist. For that alone it deserves five stars. I also read it all. Which these days I only do if I am enjoying a book. There are too many good ones to waste time. A very entertaining read. '

It feels odd now, because I am currently writing such a dark and complex supernatural novel, to realise I also do comedy! Of course, Sam is stamping her feet demanding a sequel because how can she be a star with only the one movie....?? Well she'll have to wait a little longer but I've got a lot in store for her soon...

Lots of news to come later this week, and I will have a surprise guest checking into Fiction Hotel on Friday! See ya later....
