Skincare, Lighting, and Delusion

I started a new skincare regimen last month. Or is it regime? It’s tough to tell the difference when you’re staring down a 14-step process complete with strippers, waxes, and varying grades of sandpaper. Not that I’m complaining. This is what we do, not necessarily to minimize the actual effects of aging, but to fool ourselves into believing we can exert some control over the process. Lucky for me, an insider at Therapon sent me their Theraderm line to try. And only four bottles! Can you stay...

Amanda LeBlanc: Luscious Organization

If you’ve followed me for a while you know I’m a bit of a planner and a bit of an organization nerd wannabe. One area I have yet to feel competent is photo organization. The more devices I own the more overwhelmed I feel at the images they hold and their utter state of disorganization. It started a few years ago when we got a decent camera, and has only been compounded by the iCrack phone.

That’s why I was so excited to write about photo organization for an upcoming iVillage article, and even...

Mommy Porn is an Organized Pantry

Every girl remembers her first time. The day I lost my Container Store virginity I walked around an outdoor shopping mall in north Dallas for forty minutes, wondering if I was really ready.

I had resisted the peer pressure for years, telling myself I didn’t need to go all the way, that it was enough to live vicariously through the other girls. Once those doors opened, there was no going back. Just inside the store I pried myself away from magnetic locker organizers designed to hold lip gloss,...

Who Peed on My Yoga Mat? Watch the Trailer!

funny books for women

I’ve added another video to my collection of funny book trailers. If you like funny books for women, I think you will like this trailer, as well as the others I’ve rounded up.

Why did it take me this long to post the book trailer for Who Peed on My Yoga Mat? Why is there pee on my yoga mat? Why do you ask these kind of questions?

Please, just click and watch. And then think of three people who need a laugh and give the the gift of silliness.

Thank you!

How Are Those Resolutions Coming?

So how are those New Year’s resolutions coming? Have you been to the gym? Have you started drinking pureed spinach? Have you listened to your mother?

Didn’t think so.

Me? I’m rocking the resolutions. Because mine were easy. All I needed was a new wardrobe of yoga pants to make my life complete. 2013: Check.

Click to watch the iVillage iVoices buddies share our real mom resolutions.

Top 5 Reasons to Choose a Funny Book for Book Club

Funny Books for Book Clubs

Got Funny Book Club Books?

I am in a fantastic book club with some of my very best friends in the whole wide world. I am a lucky woman. Our book club gives us not only an excuse to get together regularly, but also stimulating conversation and a lot of wine. However, it’s rare that we choose funny books for our book club discussion.

Why? Maybe we are over-achievers. Maybe we just forget that there are so many great funny books out there. (See below for a list of funny books.) Our club imposes no...

New Moms Need a Night Out

20130116-171755.jpg

Soon-to-be the Sweet & Sour Craving station. Yum!

When I’m not busy writing, eating pureed spinach, and engaging in entertaining banter on Facebook, I’m working with my partners in Peekaboo Media Group to help Fortune 500 companies connect to Mom.

We are thrilled to present the first everGirls’ Night Out for Mom, sponsored by Evenflo. We are treating new and expecting moms and their friends to a fun night out with friends–complete with music, mocktails, and killer swag. And prizes, lots of priz...

Adventure, Organization, and Green Smoothies

Nothing starts the new year off right like a few good resolutions. Lacking those, I rely on my phone and my green smoothies to keep me awake and alive. Check out the lastest Peekaboo Media Group segment on KFTAwith Liz Hogan. (I’m the short one on the left.)

Until Kim and Loria mentioned them, I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a family new year’s resolution. I can barely keep myself out of elastic waistbands. The thought of getting my whole family to resolve just makes me sleepy.

Do...

Happiness in Simple Things

20130107-161020.jpg

This is what I did last week. I cannot tell you the earth shattering joy this sight visited upon my weary post-holiday heart. Behold a coat closet holding only coats! Note the good condition of the coats therein, indicating they are the specimens actually used by their owners. Look upon the bare floor, freshly dusted, pristine, Zen-like. See, too, the luxurious expanse of space reserved for *gasp* the coats of guests! Yes, my friends, all of this and more is possible with just a bit of grit a...

New Year, New Workout… Or Not

In the earlydays of our relationship, my husband played soccer. I’m sure Victoria Beckham will back me up when I say soccer players are hot. John loved the game for its own sake, while I, being chronically bad at any sport involving a ball, just wanted to work out. I tried every aerobic exercise fad there was. If there was a VHS made for it during the 80′s and 90′s, I did it. While John was never the gym rat I was, we consummated our commitment by joining a health club together. He wore his s...
