Women Are Misogynists, Too

42 percent of women voted for Trump. They willingly voted for a man who treated women like objects, and who bragged about grabbing their pussy without their consent. He raped and beat his first wife. He’s had five children by three different women. And almost half of the women in America are okay with that.

I don’t entirely blame the rise of Trump on men. No, it’s not the angry white men that are solely responsible. I’ve known all along how much men hate me because I’m a woman. It’s the women...

About those reviews…

So, let’s say you wrote a book. And the reviews start coming in. One review is five stars and reads: I loved this book! The characters were wonderful and I stayed up all night to finish it. It’s my new favorite book!

Then another review comes in. It is one star and reads: I hated this book. The characters were one-dimensional. I couldn’t even finish the book. Don’t waste your money.

Now you have two conflicting reviews. Which review is right?

The answer is both. Both reviews are correct. Beca...

I Just Got Played

This is the screenplay version of an evening in the life of Layce and Saxon.

EXT. LAYCE AND SAXON’S HOUSE – DAY

It’s a seventy-degree day in February because there is no climate change. Skateboarders in shorts WHIZZ up and down the residential street in front of their two-story home.

INT. LIVING ROOM – DAY

Layce and Saxon sit in matching recliners, tandem reading on Kindles. Saxon looks up.

SAXON

Have you gotten me a Valentine’s Day present yet?

Layce

I refuse to answer that because you will...

Oklahoma To Replace Science Textbooks With Bible

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin and Republicans were jubilant over the senate confirmation of Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education. “Finally!” screamed Gov. Fallin. “A woman after my own heart.”

Gov. Fallin intends to springboard the appointment of DeVos into action against the filthy Democrats who think science is a legitimate course of study . She plans to immediately replace all science textbooks in the public school system with a copy of the King James version of the Bible.

“Who needs science...

Unrequited Love

I loved her from the moment I saw her. She had a way about her, an aura or something, that caught my attention and wouldn’t let go. Even though she was wearing a dress with big flowers and padded shoulders (this was the 90s, after all) I found her to be sexy. Sexy in a smart, librarian, kind of way. I’ve always been drawn to smart women. There’s just something so damn sexy about when they take down their hair and slip off their glasses.

A lot of people thought she was an ice queen. But I knew...

The Controversial Purse

I’ve always had a complicated relationship with purses. I know many lesbians don’t like to carry a purse. Maybe because it’s too feminine. Maybe because it’s a pain in the butt to tote it around. I have vacillated between love and hate with my purse.

Like I said, it’s very complicated.

I started carrying a purse when I started my period. You have to have some place to carry your once-a-month essentials. I got a cute blue suede purse with a long macrame rope strap. I put my plastic tampon case...

What Trump Has Done To Me ( a few rambling thoughts)

I’m a political junkie. I didn’t used to pay much attention to politics. Okay, I’ll be honest… I didn’t pay ANY attention to politics. I voted for president and that’s about all I did. But ever since I saw Trump mock a handicapped man and then brag about grabbing a woman’s pussy, I have been hooked on what the Orange One would do next.

Picture of Trump with and without his orange make-up.

It is so unbelievable! I wake up every morning and I can’t wait to check Twitter to see what foulness ha...

Whoops, my bad…

I was watching a movie with Saxon and Emma when my phone rang. I paused the movie and answered, “Hello?”

“Hello, Ms. Gardner,” a man’s voice on the other end said. “I’m calling from your bank. I noticed you haven’t made your mortgage payment and it’s a week overdue. I’m calling to give you the chance to pay now. We will even accept your credit card if you prefer. Or you can authorize us to debit your bank account directly.”

I covered the phone, looked over at Emma, and whispered, “Pay attenti...

Goodbye, Facebook!

Well, I did it. I just hit the deactivate button on my Facebook account. I’ll admit it feels a little scary. I’ve been active on Facebook for eight years now. There have been some good times, for sure. But holy hell, there’s been a lot more bad times. To keep my sanity, I finally deactivated.

Here’s the hard truth: I was addicted to Facebook. I spent probably one to two hours per day scrolling the newsfeed. I posted, I scrolled, I liked, I commented, and I even poked. I read about people’s lu...
