Realme confirms 300W charging launch date
Following the first teaser, Realme has set a debut date for its 300W wired charging technology. The company will reveal the technology on August 14 at a special event in China.
The “technological breakthrough” will be the next step after the 240W power launch in February 2023, but for now, it’s unlikely we’ll see it in a phone.
Xiaomi Redmi announced a similar technology that can charge a smartphone from 0 to 100% in less than five minutes, but it’s been almost 18 months since its unveiling and we’re still yet to see it in any device available for sale.
Realme currently holds the record for the fastest charging for a commercial smartphone—the GT Neo 5 launched in China with 240W fast charging, and later launched internationally as the Realme GT3. The company promised 0-100% in under 10 minutes, and our real-world testing wasn’t much different—1-100% in 11 minutes and 16 seconds.
Realme’s announcement, which is expected to take place next week, coincides with the 828 Realme Fan Festival (28.08, which was August 28, 2018, when Realme launched its first smartphone as an independent brand).

General practitioner’s warning about marks on nails and scalp
Psoriasis, a widespread skin condition that affects around 3% of Britons, is often overlooked because its symptoms and treatments are unknown. As August marks Psoriasis Awareness Month, Dr Donald Grant, GP and Chief Clinical Adviser at The Independent Pharmacy, sheds light on the key indicators of psoriasis and stresses the importance of recognizing them for timely intervention.
Dr Grant said: “Psoriasis is a very common autoimmune disease that cannot be prevented. It comes in many forms and leaves the skin itchy, irritated and inflamed.”
He continued: “Understanding the telltale signs of psoriasis is vital to early treatment to minimize flare-ups, but what are the common signs of this condition? Let’s take a closer look.”
Know the signs of psoriasisOne of the main symptoms, according to Dr. Grant, is the appearance of red patches on the skin, indicative of plaque psoriasis, which occurs mainly on the elbows, knees or scalp, although it can appear elsewhere on the body.
“These plaques can also dry out and have a silvery flaky appearance. Overproduction of skin cells can make the skin thick and dry, leading to itchy and irritated skin. E45 Fat-Free Emollient Cream is available over the counter and can reduce itching, soothe and make the skin smoother. “
Dr Grant has issued a stark warning about common skin problems: “It’s important for people to understand that although itchy and burning skin is common in the summer – a sign of sunburn – it’s also a massive indicator of psoriasis. Affected areas can quickly become irritated during symptoms and this feeling can come before visible changes in the skin.
“Itchy or burning skin can be caused by inflammation from an autoimmune disease. To control symptoms, a cool compress can reduce burning and provide quick relief from itching, while medical treatments are available for long-term relief.”
Dr Grant urges caution, reports Gloucestershire Live: “Dry skin is quite normal in the summer as the temperature rises. That said, I would recommend keeping a close eye on dry or cracked skin. It can be a sign of psoriasis. Dry skin is usually an early sign of this skin condition and can lead to cracking, which in turn can be a sign of psoriasis.” causes bleeding.
“To prevent flare-ups, I recommend regularly moisturizing the affected area and avoiding potential irritants. If the skin continues to dry or crack, it is best to seek medical help for available treatments. Treatments such as Diprobase Cream are effective in targeting dry or scaly skin caused by psoriasis.”
He also highlighted negative nail concerns.
Dr Grant emphasized: “Nail psoriasis is a common skin condition that affects around half of people with psoriasis, according to the NHS. An indicator of nail psoriasis is nail pitting – when small bumps or bumps form on the surface of the fingernails or toenails. It affects the appearance and brittleness can cause nails to crumble in severe cases. cases.
“Toenails can affect work and social life, making writing or typing challenging and at the same time undermining people’s confidence. If the appearance or texture of your nails has changed, it’s always best to seek further advice from your GP.”
Dr. Grant also mentioned a dry or scaly scalp: “Finally, changes in the scalp, such as dry or scaly skin, are a massive sign of scalp psoriasis. This is another type of plaque psoriasis that can lead to scaling and flaking. It can even cause temporary hair loss in severe cases.
“However, over-the-counter shampoos such as Polytar Shampoo may prove helpful in reducing dry, flaky skin while protecting against future flare-ups. The active ingredient, coal tar solution, accelerates the shedding of dead skin cells and should be used for about 4 weeks to reduce symptoms.
“Overall, psoriasis takes many forms, and signs of the disease can appear anywhere on the body, including the elbows, knees, or scalp. By recognizing the signs, people can quickly get medical advice or over-the-counter treatments to help reduce the severity of flare-ups.”
Dr Grant, who completed his medical degree in Bristol in 1985, has gained extensive clinical experience as a general practitioner in the Bristol area. He is particularly interested in orthopedic medicine.
I’m not afraid of anyone, I don’t respect anyone
Julia Szeremeta advanced to the final of the 57kg boxing category and secured at least a silver medal at the Paris Games. “I’m not afraid of anyone, I don’t respect anyone. I had even more fun than in the previous round,” she said.
In Wednesday’s semi-final, the Polish player defeated Filipina Nesta Petecio 4-1 (28:29, 29:28, 29:28, 29:28, 29:28).

— The president congratulated the volleyball players and Julia Szeremeta on their success! “We are looking forward to the volleyball and boxing finals. We keep our fingers crossed!”
In Saturday’s final, Szeremeta will face Taiwan’s Yu Ting Lin, who unanimously defeated Turkey’s Esra Yildiz in the semi-final.
TrustI’m not afraid of anyone, I don’t respect anyone. I go to the ring and do my thing.
– said the Pole, who played the semi-final on the main court at Roland Garros.
She said she had “even more fun than the previous phase.”
There were more fans, great weather, lights, so that made me even more emotional.
– she emphasized. She didn’t know how to answer what the recipe was to completely turn off the nervous system and not get stressed.
Instead of “Iga”, which could often be heard on the main court during a tennis tournament, on Wednesday night “Julka, Julka” was heard in the stands.
It was really good. Really cool. I can honestly say I can’t wait for the end.
– she added with a smile.
After the first round, which she lost on the judges’ cards, she was “a little surprised”.
I still had a lot of fun and that was my way
– she said. She did not want to talk about her rival in the final, Taiwan representative Yu Ting Lin, who, like Algeria’s Imane Khelif, was allowed to compete in Paris although he was excluded from the 2023 World Championships in New Delhi because, according to the International Boxing Federation (IBA), they failed a test to determine sex.
Controversy surrounding the IOCLast year, the IOC stripped the IBA of its status as boxing’s governing body on financial issues and took control of the Olympic competition, but is now at the centre of a dispute over the participation of these athletes.
The IOC recalled during the Games, in connection with the discussion on this subject, that “women can have testosterone levels equal to those of men, while still being women”.
One of the Polish coaches just said to Szeremeta: “Tell her she is taller.”
I didn’t check my ladders. From fight to fight I learned who I was boxing with. Now I know she’s taller and fights in the normal stance
– she said.
Szeremeta added:
I don’t feel stressed at all, I box in a relaxed way.
I am happy that there is such a reception from the fans. They like my boxing. I hope that Polish boxing will be reborn and grow even more. The village is very beautiful, we have a Polish area, we watch different disciplines, we support each other. There is a great atmosphere in the Polish national team.
– said the Olympic medalist.
She recalled Polish boxing’s last silver medal at the Olympics – won 44 years ago.
Something beautiful. There’s nothing to talk about silver. I’m going for gold. My hand will go up on August 10th. I was supposed to have gold from Garros, so let’s bring gold.
– she added.
This is Polish boxing’s first Olympic final since 1980, when Paweł Skrzecz won silver in Moscow in the light heavyweight category.

16 hours of starvation for 2 months. I lost 6kg. What went wrong?
I chose the so-called golden mean – at least that’s what I thought. I didn’t crave sweets or salty snacks, I ate healthy meals (without meat), but without any special restrictions. For breakfast, after 16 hours of fasting, I wanted to eat nutritious oatmeal with fruit and flaxseed, and I also had a sandwich with egg or cheese.
Dinner is usually soup, roasted vegetables and lettuce with feta cheese. I had a hearty dinner – the prospect of another sixteen hours without eating made me try to eat a little more. So something warm, for example, vegetable goulash, hummus, good bread, baked tomatoes with mozzarella and olive oil and similar delicacies. Finally, a piece of chocolate or some sweets. But then enough eating!
And how did it all work?
Well, the first few nights weren’t easy. After eating at 8pm, by 11pm I started to feel like eating. I cheated by making myself a lot of tea or drinking water. And I started going to bed earlier and earlier so that I wouldn’t stay up all night hungry – it was a completely unexpected and very positive effect of fasting.
Previously, I would go to bed at 1 or even 2 in the morning, and after a few weeks of fasting, I would be in bed by midnight. In the first week, hunger would wake me up at night, but then I started sleeping much better than before I started fasting.
I started getting up in the morning around eight and these four hours after getting up proved to be a great challenge, to my surprise, because it always seemed to me that it was easier to abstain from eating in the morning than in the evening.
I quickly noticed that during the feeding window I stopped craving food, my appetite normalized, I didn’t have hunger pangs, I ate smaller portions than before – this is a sign of normalization of blood glucose and insulin levels.
I started my day with bitter coffee. I had to give it up because I really don’t like coffee without sugar, but I found a way – I started buying good quality artisanal coffees. It turns out that drinking it even without sugar or sweetener is a pleasure. To make the time until breakfast pass faster, I started taking a half-hour break at work around 11 am to exercise or go for a run – another fantastic change in my daily schedule!
Effects? After the first week of intermittent fasting I lost 2.5 kg, and after a month I lost 5 kg, but in the second month the weight loss stopped and I lost only one kilo – a total of 6 kilos in two months. My results also started to improve – I took tests after a month of intermittent fasting and found that my blood glucose level dropped to 94.
Why did I say goodbye to intermittent fasting?
Although I started fasting right away and saw great results with this nutritional plan, I was unable to stick to it for more than two months. Of course, this was mostly due to my innate lack of willpower, but there were also several things about intermittent fasting that were particularly difficult for me.
First, experts on intermittent fasting, including Prof. Mark P. Mattson, a neurologist at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore and author of the book “The Intermittent Fasting Revolution,” with whom I spoke while preparing my article, assure me that after a week or two at most, the body gets used to the new daily schedule and meals. Then hunger disappears during the fasting hours. Unfortunately, this did not happen to me.
For two whole months I felt hungry at night and in the morning, I think I got used to this feeling and learned to suppress it with various activities (for example, running, drinking tea, etc.). But I was hungry and a large part of my mornings consisted of waiting for that magical hour of 12 pm and the opportunity to eat something.
At some point, it stopped being a new and exciting challenge and became a grind, and weight loss slowed significantly. Oh, those eating crises…
Second, it turns out that intermittent fasting is not an easy nutritional plan to follow on a daily basis. I was very wrong about that. It turns out that fasting requires a very regimented lifestyle, with the same wake-up times, activities, and nighttime routine every day.
“Worth it”
In my case, intermittent fasting clashed with the demands of my professional life, business trips, when I had to wake up at dawn and it was very difficult to go without eating for not four, but six hours. This way of eating was also completely incompatible with my nighttime social life.
The first month I pretty much gave up so as not to be “tempted”, but then I missed dinners with friends, going out for drinks, etc. on those special occasions, but you know – the more deviations, the harder it is to get back on track.
Despite these difficulties, I think it was worth trying to see if it really works. And to see where our weaknesses are, even if it is to try to eliminate them in the future. I think I will try the intermittent fasting adventure again.
Maybe this time, to increase my chances of success, I will decide on a slightly shorter fasting time, i.e. the 14:10 version. The only question is whether to choose a later dinner (at 10 pm) or an earlier breakfast (for example, at 10 am)? I still have to think about it.
Hunter Biden ‘received compensation’ from Romanian businessman to influence US politics, tax special counsel says
In a filing Wednesday, Special Prosecutor David Weiss’ office cited evidence it plans to introduce at trial that allegedly shows Hunter Biden received kickbacks from a Romanian businessman who tried to influence U.S. policy and end a local investigation into him in Romania.
Prosecutors will present evidence in the trial that the president’s son “received kickbacks from a foreign principal who sought to influence US policy and public opinion and get the US to investigate the Romanian investigation” of the businessman, Senior Assistant Special Counsel Derek Hines wrote. in Wednesday’s application.
The special counsel’s team also plans to further target Biden’s business relationships, saying in the filing that prosecutors plan to present evidence at trial of Biden’s business deals with Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma and China’s CEFC China Energy Company.
“The evidence will come No include evidence that the defendant engaged in lobbying in exchange for this compensation,” Weiss’ team wrote.
“Rather, the evidence shows that the defendant did almost no work in exchange for the millions of dollars he received from these entities,” the filing added.
Prosecutors included more details about their trial plans in a filing urging the court to reject Biden’s request to exclude certain evidence his attorneys say is unfairly prejudicial in his federal tax case. He is suspected of not paying taxes, filing an application, evading taxation and filing a fraudulent form.
Biden’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday night.
Prosecutors previously alleged in their indictment that from November 2015 to May 2017, Biden received a third of about $3.1 million in compensation related to a verbal agreement to help a businessman referred to in the filings as “GP” fight bribery charges. he met in Romania.
Prosecutors said the business associate, who was not named in the filing, would testify at trial about the Romanian businessman’s alleged efforts to hold his partner and another partner in an attempt to pressure federal agencies to open an investigation in an effort to end the Romanian criminal investigation.
Prosecutors do not plan to present evidence of “direct compensation from abroad or evidence that the defendant received compensation for his father’s actions that affected national or international politics,” Hines wrote.
However, he argued that the salary structure and details of Biden’s work were relevant to the case.
“Furthermore, the evidence of what the defendant agreed to do and did for GP shows the defendant’s state of mind and intent during the tax year included in the indictment,” Hines wrote.
Just because Biden suffered from drug addiction does not mean he was impaired, a legal theory that says a person does not have the mental state necessary to form the intent to commit a crime.
“It is also evidence that the defendant’s actions do not reflect a person with diminished capacity because he agreed to attempt to influence the public policy of the United States and to receive millions of dollars pursuant to an oral agreement” with an associate as part of a scheme “that “hid the true nature of the work,” he added .
Biden’s trial is scheduled to begin next month.

Tomasz Sakiewicz, president of TV Republika, announced on the X website (formerly Twitter) that the additional channel will be launched. – We have finished testing from tomorrow We broadcast two Republic programs: One Republika on existing bands and Telewizja Republika on the Internet and some cable channels. The first band is related to MUX and has an informative and journalistic character. The second is under reconstruction, but will eventually contain more lifestyle, culture and sports. Both will be branded with different logos, he wrote.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have completed the tests and from tomorrow we will broadcast two Republic programmes. The Republic logo has been modified
On Wednesday afternoon, the inscription Republika appeared next to the logo with the letter R, which has been used since 2017. At the end of the reports, the journalists of the “Dzisiaj” program also introduced themselves as representatives of “Republika”, and not of “Telewizja Republika”, as before. Republika TV’s satellite license for the universal channel is valid until May 5, 2033. The terrestrial one was recently published until July 1, 2034, but it already applies to the Republika broadcaster, which is an information and journalistic broadcaster. So far, the message of both stations has been identical.

In both licenses, the name of the program must be visible on the screen. – According to the information I received from the Regulatory Department, the program broadcast via satellite should be called TV Republika, and the program broadcast on terrestrial TV should be called Republika. These are the requirements specified in the license – Agnieszka Gniado from the office of the chairman of the National Broadcasting Council recently told Wirtualnemedia.pl.
Olechowski: Republika viewers won’t miss any of the programs
Newsletter WirtualneMedia.pl in your mailbox
Will the two versions of the Republic be different? – We have two licenses and are launching a second general channel. At first it will be an online broadcast, but we are working to ensure that the distribution will not be only on the Internet – Jarosław Olechowski, the head of the broadcaster’s editorial team, tells Wirtualnemedia.pl. The second channel will operate under the name TV Republika. Its offering will include socio-cultural programmes, documentaries, entertainment programmes, but also information.
The new station will gradually expand its coverage. – It’s the same with Republic. We have our own YouTube channel and streaming on this website. We have a large group of viewers there, but we also have cable networks and satellite platforms and we want to do exactly the same – adds Olechowski.
>>> Praca.Wirtualnemedia.pl – thousands of media and marketing ads
The broadcaster does not rule out asking the National Broadcasting Council to change the name of TV Republika. It is also considering other new stations. – We have been saying for a long time that we have several different business ideas that will be developed. Republika Channel covered with additional channels. We are in negotiations to attract investors. This is an ongoing process. We are currently considering three channels that are at different stages of engagement. “We decided to start with a general channel first. We will see how it will be received by viewers and how they will react. We will see what they are missing, what they would like to see. We build television with viewers and for viewers. We care a lot about them and want to know their expectations,” says Olechowski. However, he does not reveal what topics additional channels could be dedicated to. Previously, the Republika management talked about a sports channel.
Will the launch of an additional station reduce Republika’s ratings? Will some programs be broadcast only on the new channel? – This has nothing to do with the program we are currently broadcasting. There will probably be common points in the schedule.which will also be available to watch on the general channel. I think the news editorial team will also work for this channel. However, this is a completely separate project. Republika viewers will not lose any of the programs broadcast on this channel. The only thing that will change is that they will get an additional channel – explains Olechowski.
READ TOO: Will TV Republika and wPolce24 lose their terrestrial licenses? Competitor files complaint
So, for now, the Republic terrestrial channel will be distributed on cable networks, and over time, a universal channel will be added to them? – This is a process. Building the Republic distribution, which we have on MUX-8, on cable networks and on satellite, took 10 years or even a little longer. Here we are talking about a shorter process, but it will take some time. We want it to be the second general channel, available to as many viewers as possible. There are different ways to do this. There are modern technologies that allow the distribution of signals not only via satellite or cable, but also via the Internet. Their distribution will be expanded to include cable networks and satellite platforms. We want to distribute it as widely as possible. Nothing changes for Republika, which is currently broadcasting, but we are building a second Telewizja Republika channel. That is the assumption,” explains Olechowski.
Nielsen data shows that TV Republika’s market share in July this year was 3.92 percent. It was the sixth result after: TVP1, Polsat, TVN24, TVP2 and TVN. The station is part of the nationwide digital terrestrial television MUX-8. It can be received via pay TV providers (including Polsat Box, Canal+, UPC Polska/Play, Vectra, Orange Polska), experimental digital terrestrial television multiplexes (Warsaw, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Katowice), local multiplexes (Jelenia Góra, Rybnik, Częstochowa, Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Wrocław, Świdnica, Lubin, Głogów), the tvrepublika.pl website and YouTube.

Canada strikes deal to use US space technology, paving the way for rocket launcher in Nova Scotia
A new agreement between Canada and the United States has rekindled hopes of building a spaceport in rural Nova Scotia.
Federal Cabinet Minister and Nova Scotia MP Sean Fraser announced Friday in Halifax that the two countries have negotiated a Technology Safeguards Agreement that will enable the use of American space launch technology, expertise and data in Canada.
The agreement will not come into force until both countries have independently reviewed and approved it, and Fraser could not provide a timeline. However, he said he expects each government to immediately and quickly take steps to obtain the appropriate national approvals.
Steve Matier, president and CEO of Maritime Launch Services, said he has no intention of waiting for the ink to dry.
“We’re good to go,” he told reporters after the announcement.

He described the deal between the two countries as a “huge” achievement for his startup.
“It’s really crucial for us to be able to move forward, and it’s something we’ve been working on behind the scenes and we hope to get it done,” he said.
Matier has been working for several years to build a spaceport in the remote coastal town of Canso, Nova Scotia.
Maritime Launch has a 40-year lease on approximately 135 hectares of provincial Crown land on which it intends to build its launch pad. The company I got the green light to build from the provincial government in 2022.
So far, only roads have been built there.
New model inspired by Russia’s invasion of UkraineThe original vision for the spaceport was to use a Cyclone 4M rocket, which can launch up to 30 satellites at once. Matier said he had to change course because of the rocket’s origins — it’s made in Ukraine.
“Unfortunately, for obvious reasons, we have moved away from Ukrainian technology,” he told reporters on Friday.
“It all started with COVID-19, and then there was the Russian invasion of Ukraine, [which] made it difficult for us to deliver this technology.”
Matier said Maritime Launch is currently developing a launch pad that it will lease to customers who bring their own rockets. He said he believes there is a market for the service.
“We have investors, go-to-market customers and satellite customers — all three are very important to us and would be happy to relocate here to be a part of what we’re working on,” he said.

In 2021, the company had $10.5 million in secured investments. Matier did not say how much it has now.
The initial cost of building the cosmodrome was estimated at around $200 million, but Matier said the new model, developed in response to the situation in Ukraine, would allow the cost to be reduced fourfold, to around $50 million.
Last year, the province made the project eligible for a $13 million tax credit. Earlier this year, the federal government secured terms through the Strategic Innovation Fund that would allow the company to benefit from a repayable loan of nearly $13 million.

Maritime Launch hosted a group of college students who conducted a suborbital launch of an amateur rocket at its Canso facility last year. Matier said another demonstration is planned for later this year.
He added that he expects construction of the launch pad to begin and be completed by 2026.
The project has sparked controversy in the Canso community, where some residents fear environmental impactOthers, however, hope the startup business and related tourism will bring revenue to the economically isolated part of the province.
Fraser said he respects those concerns. He believes the company took them seriously.
“I wouldn’t be such a defender of this particular project if they showed disregard for the environmental impact assessment process,” he said.
Matier said he was proud of the “social license” the company had developed at Canso.

Parents do not have priority in choosing leave dates during the summer holidays
The employer cannot assume that in the months of July and August leave is granted mainly to parents of school-age children. The Labour Code does not grant them any privileges in this regard. Such a policy would therefore constitute unequal treatment in employment.
July and August are the months when employees traditionally like to take time off and take holidays. For employers, this is a period of increased effort to reconcile employee absences with the smoothest possible functioning of the company. When deciding who can take leave and at what times, it should be borne in mind that unjustified differences in the situation of employees in this regard in specific circumstances may constitute discrimination.
