'Get your scandal fix here!'

Whenever I see a copy of HOLLYWOOD SINNERS in Smiths, or Waterstone's, or Asda, I have to touch it. I wonder if this will ever wear off, or if I'll develop some OCD and start loitering creepily in supermarket aisles, stroking the cover. So, um, if you see me, don't be afraid to say hi!

The last few weeks have been masses of fun. I'm hard at work getting my rewrites in for Book 2 (out at the start of next year) and I'm hugely excited about that. It's going to be a shocker! (As in, it'll shock you: not, it's shockingly bad. At least that's the idea.) And I've also done my first ever LIVE TV appearance on The Vanessa Show. Wow. I was so nervous. But it went great and the experience of being in a live studio with all the cameras and, of course, the inimitable Vanessa Feltz, was pretty incredible. Vanessa is amazing: polite, professional, interested - everything I'd hoped for and more. I was tempted to curtsey when I met her but I just about resisted.

Also in the green room was legendary broadcaster Jenni Murray and the lovely writer and journalist Kate Mulvey. We got to chat for an hour or so before the show began, but, when it did, the time went by in a flash. Here's hoping it'll get everyone picking up a copy of HOLLYWOOD SINNERS for a juicy summer read.

In other news, we've had excellent reviews in both Now and Closer magazine. Seeing as these are the magazines I've been devouring for years, it's weird to see my book featured in them. Now gave the book FIVE STARS and had it as their Book of the Week, saying: 'We should've seen the twists in this sinful bonkbuster coming, but two of the surprises were so shocking that we ended up startling the other commuters on the bus . . . This sweltering tale about the dark side of showbiz had us completely hooked.' While according to Closer it's '[a] thrilling novel . . . The heady mix of corruption, glamour, lust and power is guaranteed to keep you up late into the night. Get your scandal fix here!'

HOLLYWOOD SINNERS has hit the shops - and it's looking fabulous! I'm in the honeymoon period of going into every bookshop I can find to see if it's on the shelves. The cover looks beautiful - I hope you like it as much as I do.

Friday's launch was a LOT of fun. Wardrobe highlights include: man in an all-in-one white suit; array of T-shirts with leopards' faces on; Miami Vice blazers and jewellery that makes your eyes water. After cocktails aplenty we went on to the Victoria Fox afterparty at Merah London, with our own VIP booth and everything! I swear those sambuca shots were three times bigger than normal. All things considered . . . a totally sinful night.

And it's going to be a very exciting month for HOLLYWOOD SINNERS. We've got some amazing reviews coming in Now and Star magazine, and on top of that Victoria Fox is making her TV debut appearance on The Vanessa Show on Channel 5 on May 5th!!! Yes. I'm going to meet VANESSA. I can't tell you how excited I am about this. We'll be chatting all things celebrity and I can't wait.

In the meantime, Book 2 is looking even more explosive than HOLLYWOOD SINNERS. I had a meeting with my publishers yesterday and we spent most of it laughing and gossiping and gasping at the rude bits, which are all good signs, I think.

Countdown to Publication!

It feels kind of amazing to be writing my first ever blog for my first ever website for my first ever book . . . HOLLYWOOD SINNERS is publishing on April 15 and I am SUPER-excited about it. I hope you love it!

 

Writing is a long, uncertain road and to be on the cusp of publication is both nerve-wracking and exhilarating. Imagining people I've never met spending their hard-earned cash on my book is very humbling . . . in return I hope to deliver bags of glitz, glamour and celebrity scandal: total escapism for bed-time and beach-time.

 

The weeks ahead of release are frantic, especially planning my fabulous foxy launch party, complete with signature 80s-tastic ‘Hollywood Sinner’ cocktail. The ‘Hollywood Sinner’ is scrumptious, sexy and, of course, totally sinful. Head down to the King's Cross Social Club (www.kingscrosssocialclub.com) before May 15 if you fancy trying one – you’ll even get a free copy of HOLLYWOOD SINNERS with every round! (Hurry, though: just while stocks last.) In the meantime, what to wear? I’m dreaming of big hair, shoulder pads, leopard-print . . . homage to the glory days of the brilliant bonkbuster. Friends have already threatened chandelier earrings, Frankie-Says-Relax T-shirts and Simon Le Bon hair. Bring it on! In any case, it’s a very good excuse to hit the shops.
