Community.
A community is a group of people united in a common interest. It's likely that over the course of your life you've participated in and/or belonged to a number of communities. Some of them may have been nourishing and life giving and others may have been more out of necessity. This month we are coming together to document stories of community and what being a part of our own communities means to us.
Initial story ideas for this theme include:
Think of the different communities you may belong to: make a list of dive deeper into one to tell the story. Which community really has your heart the most and why? Use the prompt "we are" to document details about your family or community. Who makes up this group + what brings you together? STORY KIT

Week In The Life™ 2022 | Special Guest Linda Jordan
Hi everyone, it’s Linda! I finished up my Week in the Life album and put it on the shelf alongside the others I’ve created over the years. Each year this project is a huge labor of love and each year I’m so thrilled to have it completed. Today, I’m super excited to be here to share a look into my album with you.
I make it a point to always document Week in the Life along with the community, even if the timing isn’t great for my personal life. As a result, over the years, in addition to documenting ordinary life, I’ve ended up with birthdays, vacations, celebrations, and purchasing a new house all in Week in the Life albums. The week that Ali chose this year, again, wasn’t great for me. I have to admit, I am just in a rough season of life, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth documenting!
I truly believe that everyone’s life is worth documenting, no matter what you are going through, and that you should always be the star of your own story. This year, in particular though, I made a conscious decision to focus my album almost entirely on myself. My daughter is seventeen so that means she’s not always central to what I do on a daily basis. Additionally, I am going through a divorce, so I wanted to focus more on myself than others in my household.
I use Week in the Life as an opportunity to not only capture the active details of what is happening in my life, but to also make a point to capture specific details about the way things are right now. To do this, I create a plan going into the week that I call a “scavenger hunt” where I search for specific things each day to photograph, beyond what is just happening. This can be something simple, such as capturing your outfit each day or your morning cup of coffee, or something a little more elaborate, such as creating flat lays of objects or using specific prompts each day.
Going into the week, I created a checklist for myself to keep on track with capturing all of my scavenger hunt list items. I have to admit, I was a bit ambitious this year and didn’t get everything, but I was close! When it came time to put my album together I feel like I had a bit too much to fit, so in the future I will probably focus on a few less items.
The scavenger hunt list items I ended up including were:
something circular (to punch out as a circle)
my daily planner
a flat lay of objects I use in my daily life
my outfit of the day
a space in my daily life (e.g. my craft room, my cubicle at work)
screen shots of things I use my phone for
the news via Today’s Front Page
specific prompts from the vellum pieces in this year’s release
After I captured all the details during the week, I created a formula to follow each day. This helped me get my album completed. I also know that some people like to put together day by day (e.g. Monday finished, then Tuesday, etc.) but, for me, I prefer to do all of a specific item. So I put together all of my cover photos first, then all of my journaling, etc.
One of the fun items I decided to do this year was document flat lays of objects that I use in my everyday life. I came up with 7 categories to document, one for each day. To capture these photos, I laid out all of the objects on a white foam core poster board in indirect sunlight and took a photo straight down using my iPhone. I then brightened the photos up a bit in photoshop elements. I’m also going to let you in on a little secret… I didn’t take these photos one per day. I spent some time on a couple afternoons during the week capturing these photos. It doesn’t matter that they didn’t happen on the specific day, instead it’s important that they happened at this point in time in my life.
Another item I decided to capture was a photo of specific spaces in my life. I paired these photos with large alpha stamping and some journaling about that space in my life. These included: my car, my cubicle at work, my bedroom, my daughter’s bedroom, my craft room, the kitchen, and my house.
In deciding how I wanted to style my album this year, I decided to take a very hybrid approach and add a lot of details before I printed out my photos. Almost all of my photos were taken with my iPhone and they were all edited using the Color Story app using the Hollywood filter.
For some of my photos, I decided to add digital handwritten text by opening my photos in the procreate app on my iPad and adding some doodled journaling with my apple pencil. My favorite pages in the album ended up being the final photos of each day where I just doodled a bunch of words that encapsulated the story of the day on top of one of my favorite photos from the day.
Once it came time to assemble my album, most of the work was done after I had edited and printed my photos. I added minimal embellishments and really let the photos be the focus. This helped me keep this project manageable and allow it to fit (barely) in one album.
Each day follows the same formula of pages. A few days I had to adjust my formula slightly to accommodate a few extra or a few less photos (is it just me, or does Friday always have the least photos?) but generally they all follow the same pattern which keeps the album cohesive and helps me get it finished. It feels so good to get this album completed!
Here is a look at all of the pages for Sunday:
I hope you enjoyed this look into my process & album and that it inspires you to finish up your album!

December Daily® 2022 | Crafting With Krystal 01
Hi friends! Krystal here! With the launch of the December Daily® season, I’m excited to bring you a five week mini-series where I will be story planning using different components of the 2022 December Daily® collection each week.
This mini-series is composed of a weekly Live video on the December Daily Facebook Group. This live event takes place each Thursday at 12PM ET throughout the month of September. As a special bonus for this series, I’m also creating a blog post to wrap up what we discuss that will include a recording of the video to watch if you are not a Facebook user.
This week, our product topic was December Daily® Stamps. If you missed the video this week, you can check that out below.
LET’S RECAPIn today’s video, I take you through eight different categories to think about when it comes to stamping. Spending some time looking at your stamp sets and contemplating the different ways you may want to use them can help to get your creativity going AND help ensure you remember to USE your products come December.
To go along with the eight different categories, I created stamping specific planning worksheets that you can download for your own personal use here. Let’s review each of the categories.
1. STAMP STORY TITLES/PROMPTS
Study your stamp sets and look for sentiments you can use to create titles for your layouts OR stamps that give you specific story prompts. These can help to spark stories throughout the month of December or create some intentionality going into the season.
Here are some of my favorites from this year’s stamp collection:
I really love the MANY prompts you can find on the Holiday Messy Circles Stamp Set - including “Hot Cocoa Time”, “Most Loved Snacks”, and “How We Do Christmas”. These stamped circles would look so awesome as “bullet points” for journaling or as stand-alone prompts.
I am especially excited about the “Hot Cocoa Time”, “Most Loved Snacks” and “How we do Christmas” circles especially. I think these are all fantastic prompts for filler stories (or maybe setting the intention for a Hot Cocoa Day)?
The script titles at the top of the Blocked Holiday Phrases would fit perfectly at the top of a 3x4 or 3x8 page of journaling - making them an amazing story title! My favorite is “Traditions we hold near and dear”.
I love the “MERRY” title and the script “Joy” from the Merry Paislee Press Stamp. I think the “Joy” prompt would be so fun to stamp on a series of tags and to use those to tell different parts of the day that brought you joy.
To give you some additional ideas for how to use stamps as titles/prompts for your stories, here are some examples from my previous albums:
2. STAMP FILLER PAGES/QUOTES
Full stamped pages are a great way to use alpha and number stamps. You can create a graphic look by mixing colors and directions of your stamps, or create a large stamped quote with alphas. These are pages you can totally prepare ahead of time to put in when you don’t have a photo or you need a bridge between stories/albums.
In this year’s stamp collection, the Double Alpha Stamp Set is perfect for making quotes. Mixing the sizing and fonts of your stamps in a single quote can really help elevate it and add additional visual interest to your page. The fact that this stamp set comes with two fonts is genius!
When thinking about quotes, I like to jot down a few of my favorites prior to the start of December. This gets my creative juices flowing on how I might be able to use stamps with the quote… and oftentimes, I’ll just go ahead and make it ahead of time. That way the hard work is done before December hits.
Here an example of a filler page I created in one of my older albums:
3. STAMP PATTERN PLAY
A few of the stamp sets this year include patterns on them. While the patterns were created to layer over specific filler stamps (i.e. presents or stars), you can also use these in unexpected ways. Try stamping them on embellishments like wood veneer or chipboard numbers, piece them together to create your own DIY pattern paper, or stamp them in clusters to make your own filler icon cards. Here are some of the patterns I may try:
While you might not think of using the Blocked Holiday Phrases as anything but a subtitle, looking at the way these are arranged on the page reminds me of a brick wall. I love the idea of using the blocked phrases to create a stamped chimney and then turning that into an interactive pocket.
The Presents set includes a ton of different patterns - stripes, stars, and hearts! These would be perfect for stamping on cards/paper to create your own patterned paper OR adding the stamped patterns on top of embellishments to spruce them up.
The Tag & Star Stamp stamp set is perfect for creating a beautiful background paper with the stars. Use all of the different sizes to create variety + visual interest on your page. I especially love the star outline shapes for patterns like this!
The Holiday Messy Circles set also includes a couple of adorable trees. I think it would be so fun to create a stamped pattern using both of them - perhaps using two different green inks and alternating them for a nordic kind of feel.
Here is an example of how I played with pattern stamps an older albums:
4. INTERACTIVE STAMP IDEAS
When looking at the stamps and thinking about how they could become interactive, my eye was immediately drawn to the Tags & Stars Stamp Set.
I love the idea of stamping the tags on a transparent element, layering two together with some fun sequins in the middle, and making my own shaker tags. How CUTE would that be?
The same stamp set could also be used to create a bunch of confetti stars. By stamping the stars onto a texture like vellum, they would have a see-through element and would be so fun shaking around in a 3x4 pocket!
A last idea I have is using this Presents stamp set. I think it would be super fun to stamp out the presents, add a ton of them to a full page (fill the page with presents), BUT to make the presents interactive flip-ups. Then, you could add a photo of what you purchased to give as gifts underneath. Using interactivity to hide photos or journaling is a great way to still document a story you’re not ready to share with everyone just yet.
I love working with interactive bits in my albums and can’t wait to give this a go again. In the example below from my 2021 album, I created tiny flip ups that I think would translate super well to the present stamp idea!
5. MIXED MEDIA
Now, I’m not an expert when it comes to mixed media… but I have dabbled in it a bit. I can tell you from that experience, that there is SO much you can do with stamps + mixed media to create a custom look for your album. All of the stamp sets have sentiments, icons, and more that would be super fun to play with using mixed media.
Here are the different types that I have + showcased:
Acrylic Paint
Texture Paste
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse
Glitter
Embossing Powder
Nuvo Drops
And much, much more.
To see how some of these look in action, here are some past examples from my December Daily albums:
6. DIGITAL STAMPS
Digital stamps have a whole host of additional ways you can customize, alter, and make your stamps your own. Perhaps there is a stamp set you want to add on a photo but you’re worried about messing it up… printing the digital stamp directly on the photo is a great alternative.
Using digital stamps also allows you to alter sentiments to work for you (i.e. changing a messy circle stamp from “still merry & bright” to “merry & bright”). Or, maybe you wish a certain stamp was a lot bigger (or smaller), you can make those adjustments with the digital versions too!
Image of Holiday Messy Circles - Shop Image
I think it would be super fun to blow one of the messy circles from the Holiday Messy Circles WAY up - making it fill up a full page - and then have it overlaid on top of a full page photo related to the prompt. Maybe the “Hot Cocoa Time” is sized to fit perfectly inside a top down view of a hot chocolate cup!
Here a past example of how I used digitals in this way from my 2020 album:
7. CUT FILES
Along the same lines as using digitals, one additional way you can use the digital version of these holiday stamps is to create your own cut files. If you have a die cutting machine like a cricut or silhouette, you can throw one of the PNG stamp files into the software, size it as big as you like, trace the file, and make it into a custom cut file.
I think the “MERRY” title from the Merry Paisley Press Stamp would make a super neat jumbo title if it was sized up and cut out. With a sentiment like this one, creating the cut file takes away the pain of having to fussy cut out a printed digital stamp. Also, you can then create multiple cuts to make the title feel like chipboard OR you could use a different textured paper for added interest.
Using the stars from the Tag & Star Stamp, you could make your very own stencil! Add a ton of those black stars onto a canvas in your design software, trace the whole thing and cut it out, then use the negative portion of the cut file (where the stars are holes the paper) and use that with mixed media to create a textured page.
The Holiday Messy Circles stamp set has SO many opportunities for cut files. Create one with any of the messy circles and add transparency behind it for a cool transparent element. Or, blow up those adorable woodland creatures, cut them out and add to a photo, journaling card, or transparency. I also love the idea of cutting the tree shapes with colored vellum!
Here’s an example of where I’ve used digital stamps to create cut files for in my 2021 album:
8. PAPER TYPES/INK COLORS
I love having a spot to jot down the colors I want to use for the season. My favorite colors from the AE Crafter's Ink collection for December Daily documenting are Redwoods, McKenzie, Willamette, and Honeyman. I’ll pull inks from other manufacturers as well so I have a more comprehensive list - including both pigment inks (like the AE inks) and dye inks.
And finally, that leaves me with listing out the different potential textures I can use my stamps on. There are SO many different possibilities for what you can stamp on - and this is REALLY where you can get super creative! Here’s a list of my favorites:
Matte Photo Paper (stamps will look practically computer printed)
Canvas Paper (has a grainier look/feel)
Fabric Paper (still textured, but not as grainy as canvas)
Cork Paper
Printable Transparency (make sure to stamp on the rough side)
Vellum
Colored Vellum
Shrink Film (make your own charms)
Clear Matte Sticker Paper
White Matte Sticker Paper
Patterned Paper (whatever you have on hand)
Mixed Media Paper (things you’ve made - i.e. watercolor)
CONCLUSION
Seriously… stamps offer SO much room for creativity in your projects. They can provide you with story titles, fun ways of making your own embellishment, full page feature elements, opportunity for texture + dimension, and so much more.
I hope today’s video helps to get you thinking about the stamp sets you’ve added to your box this year AND the stamps you may already have in your stash.
I want to leave you with two challenges today to help get you going and set you up for stamping success this year:
Print off the Story Planning Worksheets (Stamp Edition, linked above) and fill out the different sections with ideas you have for your own projects. Then, keep this on hand when prepping your album or completing stories throughout December.
Challenge yourself to pick one of the stamp sets you hope to use this year, and design an entire layout based on that one stamp. I think you will surprise yourself just how far the one stamp set will go and what a creative layout you will end with.
I’m going to be back again next week working with a different handful of products from the December Daily collection. I hope you’ll join me live on the December Daily Facebook Group this coming Thursday 9/08/2022 at 12PM! (The video will be recorded and I will include a blog post next week as well recapping our live session.)
Until then friends, have a great day!

December Daily® 2022 | How It Works
Each year before the release of the
December Daily® collection our team likes to go over how the Order Selection Period works to refresh everyone's memory and introduce newcomers to the community about how ordering works for these specific products.
We are hopeful that the changes we made to the order process the last few years will continue to alleviate some of the slow loading and other issues we've faced in the past for this very popular release. That said, we are imperfect people trying to get it right and it's totally possible that there will be issues on the day the products go live (next Wednesday, August 31st at 10am ET). We thank you in advance for your patience if issues do arise. Our goal is to create an awesome experience for you and we don't like it just as much as you don't like it when things don't run smooth.
Below we are showing screen shots of what the shopping experience looks like on desktop and mobile so you will have the opportunity to be more familiar with the process before the page goes live.
Grab yourself a cup of your favorite beverage and take a few minutes to read through the details.
Feel free to ask questions in the comments below.
(And yes, that is a puzzle we will be offering this year which was designed + photographed by Kelly Ishmael.)
WALKTHROUGH OF DECEMBER DAILY® SHOPPING EXPERIENCE
When the products go live on Wednesday morning there will be an option under the December Daily® dropdown menu to shop (right now the main drop down menu is for the "Travel Collection" - that will be updated when the products go live).
When the December Daily® shopping experience is live you will see that we have broken the products down into six categories. Each one will have their own tab across the top of your browser window:
My Box, Kits + Albums, Stamping, Embellishments, Stickers, Paper & Lifestyle.
Kits + Albums: Includes kits, albums, page protectors.
Stamping: Includes stamps, inks, stencil + paint, pens.
Embellishments: Includes chipboard, paper, pleather, plastic, etc.
Stickers: Includes puffy, phrase, label stickers, etc.
Paper: Includes journal card sets, transparencies, inserts, December Daily® Journal
Lifestyle: Includes advent calendar, puzzle, ornaments, enamel pin, organizational box,
Checkout: Once you have added any items to your box a sixth tab will appear in red. You can click this to checkout or use the red button under your box in the top right corner. You will also be able to check out via the red box icon on the top right corner.
When the products are live you will be able to click on any product image and will be taken to a product page that includes a description and additional product details. You will also be able to add to your box from the main shopping page (as you see above) or from the individual product page.
When you add an item to your box from this main shopping page the red "add to box" will temporarily turn green showing you that the item has been added to your box. It will return to red enabling you to add more if you want of that product.
PLEASE NOTE: We highly recommend identifying the items you are most interested in and checking out with those things first. Let's say you know for sure you want an album + the Main Kit and a chipboard bundle. Add those three items to your "DD cart" (the red box icon in the top right) and then go through the checkout process to secure those items. Those items will then appear in your "My Box" tab - as will any additional items you add to your "DD cart" and "checkout" before the 28th. Items in your "DD cart" aren't secure until you have actually checked out.
The above screen shot shows where your "DD cart" is located while you are shopping the December Daily® products. You will not be able to add products from our regular shop to this cart - it is a completely separate cart for December Daily® during the Order Selection Period.
You can adjust the amount of the item you want to order or remove the item from your box (only before checking out) in this area. Please make sure to double-check your quantities before checking out.
Once you have clicked "checkout" and gone through that process your products will then appear under the "My Box" tab.
Above is a screenshot of the checkout page for desktop users. We are able to offer flat rate shipping again this year (
$12 for domestic, $15 for Canada, and $28 for all other international locations) you will be charged this flat fee the first time you check out. After that it will note "PAID" in green for "Box Bundle Shipping" on any future checkouts.
Did you know that almost 50% of you use a mobile device for shopping on my site?
Here's a look at what you will see on your mobile device. Again, the navigation between the different categories will be right there along the top:
From this screen you are able to add products directly to your box by clicking the small box icon under the product. The small red box in the upper right corner is what you currently have in your "DD cart." Once you complete the checkout process your products will then be viewable under "My Box" in the main navigation.
You will also be able to click on the individual product to see more images or get more details:
If you are shopping from a mobile device you will have an option when you are checking out to "Check Out Right Away"
OR to scroll down to review your details before checking out. Please note that once you have completed checkout you will not be able to remove items or edit order. Please be sure to review your order quantities before checking out.
The Order Selection Period for December Daily® begins on Wednesday August 31st at 10am ET and will end on Wednesday September 28th at 11:59pm ET. After the Order Selection Period closes we will box up your order and ship it to you. Make sure you have an updated credit card and shipping address on file with us and that you are signed in under your "My Account" before starting to shop. Go do that now. Once you have checked out you CAN NOT remove products from your box or edit your order. Customer Service will not be able to make adjustments to your order after you have checked out. Please verify the numbers of product placed before checking out - you will be able to see an adjust the quantity of an item before you check out via the box icon on the top right of your page. The project will always be more important than the products. You will be able to use Paypal or Gift Cards for the December Daily® Box Orders this year. If there are complications, please know our team will be working hard behind the scenes to solve them as quickly as possible. FLAT RATE SHIPPING RATES FOR 2022
For 2022 the Box Shipping rates will be as follows:
$12 Domestic Flat Rate$15 Canada Flat Rate (this is something new we are able to offer this year for our Canadian friends) $28 International Flat Rate
This will be charged on your first "checkout" and that will be the only time you are charged shipping. After that if you checkout again under "Box Bundle Shipping" it will say "PAID."
Please note that we will be prioritizing international shipping for this release.
Our hope in sharing this information with you today is that it will help you have a better idea of what the shopping experience will look like. Please let our team know if you have any questions below.

Week In The Life™ 2022 | Special Guest Jennie Rey
Hi! Jennie here! I just finished my 2022 Week in the Life album and I’m so excited to share it with you!
Except for maybe one year, I’ve always documented my Week in the Life in the same week as Ali and the majority of the community. Nothing keeps me more motivated and excited than seeing all those photos and stories in my feed and reading Ali’s daily blog post. This year the documenting week was in a week that I would be traveling back from visiting my daughter in Bali so definitely not a typical week, but because it was also so fitting for our life right now (with half of our family on the other side of the world) I decided to just go for it and see how far I would get!
To be as prepared as possible (we’re also in the middle of selling our house/moving to a new apartment!) I decided on a ‘design formula’ before leaving on our trip to Bali so I knew what (and how many!) photos I would need and how I would like to approach my journaling. You can read all about it in this (add link: https://aliedwards.com/2022/06/week-i...) blog post.
When I got back from Bali in the middle of documenting week I could slowly get back in my ‘normal’ routines and do bits of prep work on my album that didn’t require a lot of thinking or hard choices.
So I made all of my divider pages, the pockets for the journaling, the vellum envelopes and I did a lot of the stamping. You can see a bit more of this process here.
With all my prep in place I started with selecting my photos. I used this year’s Week in the Life layered templates to mask my photos in those wonky shapes and hand cut them all (therapeutic ;-)!). I also used layered templates from last year to add some screenshots of my phone, and some pieces from Lisa’s variety pack layered templates.
Onto my journaling! During the documenting week I used the notes app on my phone to type out some things during the day, like one word for each day, the –ing words and some random things and at the end of each day I sat down and wrote about the day: what I wanted to remember of the day specific, some feelings and gratitudes and some little stories of right now.
I used all those notes to work on my journaling for each day: I made a little summary to start my day with and filled in the little notebook I made for each day using the digital journal.
Last step was to add some of the ephemera I collected into my album. I used a 2x2 page protector to add a few more photos, a few of the (digital) vellum pieces and I added some of the things I collected to the back of a photo and cut it into the same wonky shape. If possible I tried to use pieces that were in the same color as the color I chose for the day.
After all of the pieces were ready and in my album I thought about an intro page, I have one in most if not all of my albums. It was my plan to make a selfie of the three of us in the house and cut that one into a circle and cut some colored circles to create a page like the story chat logo (add link: https://www.instagram.com/p/CfB_tD0rlgy/). I eventually decided not to because a selfie of the three of us didn’t feel complete (without my daughter and her boyfriend) and I liked the divider page for Monday (with all the yellow that fitted the album so well!) as a start of my album.
So I called it done and that makes me so incredibly happy! Another little treasure to add to my collection!
This is how all of those pieces look together in my album:
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Sunday
If you would like to see more of my process in Photoshop or get some inspiration using digital kits you can check out my Hybrid All Year Round class!
