Mr Sinister....
Another of my X-Men Villain sketches colored up. I think Mr. Sinister's hayday was back in the early 90's wearing this bizarre costume. I don't know that I've read a decent story with him in it since Inferno...

Sabertooth...
X-Men villain sketch that I found colored up as well. This was back when I did my X-Men month theme on my blog.

Snake Eyes with Shield...
This was a sketch I did awhile back, and just happened across a colored version someone did online. Cool to see, it was a fun combination sketch. I dig these kind of character mash-ups.

Ultimate Spiderman...
This was a past commission I've worked up a little at a time. For these busier commissions it's always harder to fit them in all at once. A piece like this from start to finish probably takes 2-3 full days of work. Since I rarely have that much down time between larger projects it's hard to do them in one sitting. I posted the layout and breakdowns for this earlier, and now finally got to the pencils. I'll be starting the inks on it this coming week!

Flash Colors...
Here was a sketch I did of flash, colored by Jeremy Colwell! You always see so much red when people color and add background to pictures of the Flash. It makes sense, as it obviously compliments his suit and accentuates the speed and blur of his movement. But I like the choice to go blue on this. It really make Flash pop from the background that Jeremy added.

Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow...
This was another piece that I had done, not a cover or published, but used as a print for Graham Cracker Comics. It was recently colored by Ryan Lord!

GI JOE Cover...
Here was an older cover that I did for the comic shop Graham Cracker Comics in Chicago, IL. They have a chain of 9 stores, and when issue #13 of GI JOE came out they commissioned me through IDW to do a cover specific for them. I always meant to do a Cobra bookend to this, but it never happened.
Recently I found someone had colored this up on Deviant Art, and I had never known. Thought I'd share it here. I really liked the subdued, military palette they used in the color choices.

Snake Eyes...
This was a commission that I did for someone, then a little while later IDW asked if I had any art they could use for a cover. I happened to have had this one, and Snake Eyes was prominent in the issue, so it worked out great. That's actually happened 4 times over the years I worked on GI JOE. Fun stuff!
These aren't the colors that were used on the published cover, so I thought I show them. Colors again by Sean Ellery!
I just realized too that I'm up to post #600!! It's been nearly two years since I started this blog. I know it hasn't been exactly a sketch/day kind of thing, but it's crazy to think I've completed or been able to show over 600 pieces of artwork in the two year period. Crazy stuff. Thanks to everyone for hanging around, and spreading the word when I post updates on Twitter and Facebook!
Snake Eyes Colors - 600
I promise I didn't request that "Atkins Blvd" be destroyed. If I ever get a street named after me, I hope it fares better than this. yeesh.

Deadpool on X-men blank colored....
Here was the Deadpool sketch I did on a X-Men blank cover comic. These blanks went from being something I hated to do, now to something I really look forward to. Initially it was because of a poor choice of paper finish on the covers. It made it near impossible to pencil and ink on. Now they've pretty well perfected the kind of cover stock to allow all kinds of art supplies to work.
What I enjoy most is that the title is on the drawing, and it can sometimes help tell the story, or atleast give it some context. Also with most sketches I do, I prefer to try and tell a story with the image instead of just a character standing there looking cool. With Deadpool that's usually pretty easy.
Colors by Sean Ellery!

Nightwing...old and new...
Here's a Nightwing convention sketch that was colored up by Ryan Carter. It's need seeing the old blue costume right next to the current red version. I still prefer the blue, but that's just me.
