Huntress sketch card...
Here was a quick sketch card from back at the store signing I did in San Antonio. Just missed this file on my scanner. This took 15 min or so.

Hawkeye....
Here's a sketch I did for my great friend Shane! I've had his sketchbook for a little while now, and I needed to get it back to him so he can fill it up with more amazing sketches from other artists at the upcoming conventions. He really has some great pieces in this book, a Bob Layton Iron Man, a Lee Weeks Winter Soldier, just to name a few. Beautiful stuff.
It makes me nervous hanging on to collector's sketchbooks, but I'm glad I got this done and will ship it off with out any problems. Sigh of relief!
When I first started the sketch back at Heroes Con, I was drawing in Hawkeye in mid-flip as he was shooting the arrow. I hadn't really sketched it in that tight, but I knew I'd be drawing in buildings and such at the bottom. My wife is sitting next to me and when Shane comes by to check out the progress, my wife ask's why I accidentally drew the sketch upside down. AGGGH! So from then on, of course everyone thought I did this by mistake, that I just had the book turned the wrong way when I drew it. I tried telling them I did it on purpose, but sure enough, no one believed me. My loving wife...always there to help at the cons.
Upside down Hawkeye - 616 (Marvel universe sketch...see what I did there ;)

Invincible...
Man I've been waiting to draw this character for years!! I was a fan of this book when the first issue came out while I was at school at SCAD. I passed it around to all my friends and family. The book is such a refreshing look at superheroes.
More than anything, Invincible is one of the most successful examples of creators being able produce a superhero book that is longstanding and constantly surprising!

IDW Signature plates- Destro...
Here's the final Destro piece. I think I drew him pretty bulky here, but don't mind it too much. Actually drawing this makes me want to draw more superhero stuff, lol.
Destro was a bit more difficult for me than Snake Eyes. With SE, you can choose all kinds of poses and scenarios to put him in because of his skill sets. But with Destro and Baroness, they are so stoic and intmidating they just need dramatic and iconic poses. Mostly them just standing there looking cool.
I've always tried to avoid those kinds of poses for character sketches, but when it lends itself to the nature of the character, I guess it makes sense.
Destro - 613
I gotta make sure I remember to sign this one.

This I COMMAND!.....
Believe it or not after working on GI JOE for nearly 7 years on various projects, this is the first time I've drawn a full shot of Serpentor. Crazy.
Very fun character to draw with all the textures he has on his costume. The glider he's on is very much based on the toy itself, I wanted to keep it pretty accurate to that. If I was going to just work on redesign stuff, I'd make the glider a bit sleaker and more detailed than this. But it does give you that nostalgic feel with the classic costume as well.
One of the craziest things about Serpentor is the shear number of times he bellows "This I COMMAND!" in the cartoon. Good grief he says it a few dozen times in the episodes that introduce him to the cartoon. So I'm sure in posting this I'm bound to get a few comments along these lines, but it's inevitable.

IDW SIgnature plates - Destro....
Still working on these original art plates for the IDW Signature series of books that will collecting the Dixon/Atkins/Gallant run on GI JOE.
This sketch in particular was very fun to do. I wanted to do another version of Destro, though his classic black suit is by far my favorite. This this image, the cover to GI Joe #116 of the old Marvel Comics run. The cover was drawn by Michael Golden, a fantastic artist and well known for his GI JOE covers. For me it's a great Destro cover, and while I don't tend to do many cover recreations, this seemed like a cool chance to do an homage.
So all respect to Mr. Golden, here's my representation of his cover.

Spiderman Toy art and concepts
Here are some of the concept sketches and again the final line art that was used. I was given the mock up image to know the "window" size, or die cut opening I'd have to fit in art work. They'd take the image I would draw and mirror it on the opposite side of the figure. So in my mock ups, I did that so they could easily see how it would look on the final.
Spiderman toy package art- 610
Here was the initial look at the package art, and you can see the die cut openings to either side of the figure would have room for artwork. They wanted an updated version of Spidey, based on his current comic look and movie look (especially in the eyes)
Very quick sketches, 15-20 each Just to give some initial poses for ideas. But this was before I knew the opening for the art was going to be so vertical and narrow. Most of these poses would work better in a square opening.
These three options were either sketches I had already done or trying to fit the previous concepts into the opening and mirroring them for the client. They chose the middle one, so I went on to the final sketch.
As shown in my last post, this was the final inks I did for the package art. I had to draw the entire figure so they could move it around in the opening and find the best way to position it. Also they can then use this full figure illustration for any other advertising or marketing uses later.
Fun job, I always enjoy drawing the character!

Spiderman Colors...
Here's a blank cover Spiderman sketch I did while back, but redid a larger version of the inks recently. Then I found a colored version as well and wanted to share. This inked pose was used on a Marvel Legends Spiderman toy for the upcoming line this fall I believe.

Leon Belmont...
I did a series of Castlevania drawings, this was Leon Belmont from the game Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. I happened across this colored version online and wanted to share it. I was happy with the energy and dynamics of this sketch originally, and seeing the colors of his costume applied helps bring it to life even more. I'd love to see a version with the ground elements colored up as well with some cool textures.
