As always, Gail, Hi. Just read Batgirl #14 and I freaking loved it. I have been a bit stand-offish about the series, not out of a lack of love for Babs, but I have had mixed feelings about the Oracle-Batgirl reversion. Until now, the series has never reall

Thank you so much, that means a lot.

I don’t expect people to ‘get over’ the loss of Oracle, I probably will never ‘get over’ it myself. I never wanted to argue away people’s concerns about the loss of a great version of Barbara.

But I do truly believe that this is still Barbara, and Oracle is inside her somewhere. I think as she grows, we’ll see more and more of that side of her, as several recent hints have indicated.

A lot of very skeptical Barbara readers have been coming around to what we are doing, and that means a great deal. Thank you!

You don’t get to choose how anyone else interacts or identifies with media, even when it’s media you care about. Even when it’s media you made.

You don’t get to choose what constitutes a “real” fan.

You don’t get to harass and name-call because people don’t interact with media you love in the…

YAY!

You know, here’s a sad but true fact. When I was breaking into comics? I couldn’t name a single female mainstream writer who hadn’t been accused of having her husband/boyfriend actually ghost write her scripts. Including me.

To my FACE, people said this. And to every female mainstream comics writer I ever talked to about it.

Good move with Cosplay Appreciation Day, did you come up with it? As it really turned the energy positive instead of festering on a sexist jerk who claims to be neither. Anyhow! Should Cosplay Appreciation be annual, monthly, or even weekly? As I I was spe

I did, it just struck me that we were all talking about the opinions of a handful of people, and it was making some cosplayers feel a bit low.

So, screw those people, I’d rather be around cosplayers anyway. :)

I would love an annual Cosplay Day, could be a special event at comics and games stores, get lots of local coverage, boost some local shop’s income and traffic, and cosplayers get to show their stuff.

NO DOWNSIDE!

Um, I'm a bit shy asking so I'm on anon, but your Oracle helped me a lot when i was diagnosed, and 'cause of that (And because i kinda like making stuff) I wanted to send you some BoP stuff I made, would i be able to send them to DC's head office or somewh

Hmmm.

Well, first, thank you for the kind words and thought, I hope that you are okay with whatever diagnosis that was that you’re talking about.

You can send some stuff to DC to be forwarded…but if you send me a DM I won’t respond in public, but I’ll answer in private. It would be helpful to know what you’re talking about, before I send any info?

Thanks, a quick DM is all we need!

Cosplay Appreciation Day

glitterpill:

I am loving how many cosplay pictures are showing up on my dash right now, and love that something this awesome came out of negative comments!

And, since I really only have pictures of my own cosplays to contribute, here you go:

Gurrrl!!

Ungh. Aaron drawing Wonder Woman will ALWAYS be one of my favorite things.

This is the story…he was coming over to DC, I think Dan DiDio grabbed him up, and he asked Aaron to do the WW book with me. I was not familiar with his work, but was willing to give him a look.

And of course, after seeing like, two pages of his Marvel work, I was ecstatic.

The problem was, Aaron was not really a Wonder Woman fan.

And that was a worry. Dozens of great artists are dying to draw her. Aaron was such a pro that the reader would never know that, but that was true, he wasn’t a fan yet.

So, this worried me…so I asked him what he loved to draw the most, and he said, immediately, “barbarians and monsters.”

So, SCORE, I wrote an arc with NOTHING but barbarians and monsters and he KILLED on the art, he SLAYED it. Couldn’t have asked for better.
By that time, I think Diana got into his heart, because he just knocked every issue out of the park and his version of the character got more and more human, more and more real, every issue.

Now when I see an Aaron Wonder Woman sketch, I can feel the love he has for her. I mean, LOOK at her, here!

So THAT worked out well. LOVE YA, AARON!

For sake of reference, Papa John's actual profit on a $16 pizza is ~72 cents. They could raise prices (which I don't doubt they will end up doing), but then you get into fewer pizzas sold due to higher prices, and speculative arguments. The issue really is

Let me repeat. The OWNER AND FOUNDER said that the pizza cost TO THE CONSUMER might go up around 20 cents. Those are HIS WORDS. Most of the other food chains that DIDN’T do lavish fundraisers for Romney have already started talking about this as simply part of their operating costs, like any other change in their cost to do business.

If 20 cents a pizza causes the chain to collapse, well, then I can’t IMAGINE what they will do when fuel prices or beef prices or other charges go up, as they always do, and are always absorbed by the consumer in some way or another.

I appreciate each one of these women (even if I only know some of them through the internet) very much.
