Right here is when I realized Barbara and Dinah belong together.

This is Paul Cornell’s favorite panel in all of comics, by the way.

Found at a comic store a friend works at. I can only marvel at the brilliance, and that they used comic!Bane and not movie!Bane.
GENIUS!

I really liked the three main girls of Batgirl Annual #1.
They were great. Strong Characters; female.
And can we have an ongoing about Mary instead of what’s-his-face in the Talon book? She is way more interesting, and DC is really lacking books about women of color.
This issue also reminded me of how much I love James Gordon. Usually, his most stand out trait is his bravery, but I liked that this annual hightlighted his compassion. Sure, it was easy for him to tell that cop not to call Mary a “dummy,” because Gordon outranked him. But Gordon also talked to Mary like a grown woman and gave her crayons so she could express herself.
I think these acts of kindness is why he’s my favorite member of the Bat-family.
Any chance I get to write James Gordon, Sr., I TAKE IT.

Just read Batgirl Annual #1, love how Gail Simone did the characters and also Admira Wijaya’s artwork (Wee! He’s Indonesian!)
So here’s Catwoman, I love how motherly she is towards Mary/Talon ♥
Take a look at this very, very nice Catwoman sketch. Pretty, right? Nice sense of character and style.
And then realize this very talented artist is still in high school. She’s gonna be a star someday, I think!
That's It.

Someone send my dogs, I’m not going home.
I have been reading comics for the past three years, the first two in trade form, then I was brought in with the New 52 proper.Your Birds of Prey was one of the first trades I read, and I feel hard. But I've been sad with DC's treatment of Cass and Steph.I l
Thank you for this heartfelt post.
This is another reason why bringing back Cass is a good idea, there are LOTS of folks who see themselves represented in her, in a way that they do not see in any other character, for a number of reasons. I quite simply feel she’s one of the best and most important character creations in comics in decades.
I don’t think that had anything to do with her not appearing…my understanding is they they felt the character had lost a little bit of what made her unique. If they are going to relaunch her, I suspect they want to make sure they recapture those early stories of Cass. HOWEVER, I am purely speculating here and your guess is as good as mine.
I do miss the friendships in the DCU, but it takes time to make that happen and they wanted to establish the characters in their own books first. You can see that those friendships are starting to happen again, tentatively.

I think that a lot of fans are trying to relate Cass and Steph to current characters, often as a way to either cope or hate. But I do think that though Cass is dearly missed, I really don't see much of her character in Mary. Cass is an especially unique ch
Well, I think that first thing is true and I sympathize, that’s a kind way to see it. I should be more patient…but I’ve always kind of loathed that thing that two dissimilar female characters are the same because they have red hair or they’re both black or bat-themed or whatever superficial similarity they share. You can have twelve million Green Lanterns and people don’t say that. But with female characters, it happens ALL THE TIME, and it’s frustrating to here, particularly when to any passing examination, the characters aren’t even remotely similar.
I agree about Cass. I love Mary, but she could never replace Cass in the DCU or in my heart or in the hearts of readers. She’s a different character. However, in this one case, if she reminds people a little bit of a character who is benched and if that makes some people happy, then I am all for that.
