You forgot Amethyst

I totally did!

DC is doing a better job with female books than any time in a long, long time…we just need some new creators!

DC Women Kicking Ass: DC Announces Katana Series

DC Women Kicking Ass: DC Announces Katana Series:

So the rumors I had heard at NYCC were true! In February DC will be launching a series starring Katana written by Ann Nocenti.

This is only the third ongoing DC Comics title EVER to headline a woman of color so this is indeed good news.

Nocenti moves off of Green Arrow to pick up Katana…

^ LOVE this

When this comes out, DC is going to have four ongoing series starring female main characters, one of whom is openly LGBTQ and one who is a POC character

While there’s still a long way to go in terms of diversity in the DCU, stuff like this is a pretty encouraging step forward :)

Well, these are definitely good news and I’m definitely following these series!! ♥

Same! :D

It’s a shame that we won’t have Katana in Birds of Prey any more…but having her in two ongoing series, one of which is her own solo title, is really good :)

IS it only four?  Batgirl, Batwoman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Katana, Catwoman…not counting Birds of Prey, it’s six, isn’t it? If we count Bop and World’s Finest, we’re doing a little better…

"Black voters have been turning out in record numbers not only in Tampa, but throughout the state...."

“Black voters have been turning out in record numbers not only in Tampa, but throughout the state. There are reports of people standing in line up to seven hours, many of them elderly and disabled—and at one Orlando site there was a bomb scare. So NAACP members have been passing out water to help people deal with the heat. A Republican poll watcher reported this activity at the C. Blythe Andrews Jr. polling site in Tampa, a predominantly African American district, and had the poll clerk stop the water distribution. According to NAACP political action chair Yvette Lewis, the Republican poll watcher accused the teams of bribing voters with the water, much like a challenge filed by a Republican poll watcher Sunday when helpers passed out fried fish.”

Dinah: ‘Preciate this. I know we’ve had this scheduled for a while, but today I’m actually fired up to pummel something.

Diana: It’s an honour to be your chosen target, then, Dinah.

Dinah (VO): She’s always had this weird sense of humour…

Dinah: Yeah? What do you do when you get that feeling?

Diana: Same thing you do. Generally, I find something to hit. Something mythological, preferably.

Dinah (VO): …like you’re never quite sure if it’s a joke or not.

— Birds of Prey #68

Because there can never be enough of Dinah and Diana sparring. I love this scene.

Ah, there’s the whole thing!

This was the first time, I think, that I got to write Wonder Woman. And man, did I get hooked fast.

I keep seeing you answer questions about all these characters you loved (and fair enough, there are a lot of awesome characters out there). But are there any you DIDN'T like?

I have characters that aren’t my favorites but I hate to mention them because someone loves those characters and inevitably someone gets their feelings hurt.

I will say that once I get to WRITE a character, I always find something to love about them, there’s always some doorway in to their charisma that makes them work for me. But as a reader, there are characters I’m not as fond of, for whatever reason.

Now that JL:I is cancelled, will we see Vixen anywhere else?

Don’t know, I hope so. I ADORE her.

One of my all time favorite pages from Birds of Prey.

Zinda’s lack of a gaydar leads her down the wrong path with Creote, so it’s up to the girls to navigate her back on the right course.

And “Holy crow! The boy is fancy?!” is probably my fav line ever uttered in Birds of Prey.

To this day I still have readers who come up and proudly declare that they are fancy.

AND I LOVE THEM.
