I've torrented before, but... It's just not possible to make an argument FOR torrenting that isn't a statement of entitlement. "I deserve to have everything and not pay what people are asking for it." Yes, there are systemic problems and some original crea
That is kind of how I feel about it.
But most of us just kind of accept that it’s a fact of life, and as long as people aren’t jerks about it, we kind of shrug, I think. :)
I do buy, and that is kind of my point, I do not posses nor means nor money to buy all the comics I like but I can make the effort to save and buy the ones I like the most, and thru torrents I can keep my passion for them alive and keep up with the story a
No risk for YOU, lot of risk for the artsy edgy stuff that is probably barely profitable.
Look, you have this worked out to where you feel it’s all wonderful. I’m not going to try to dissuade you.
So this may be an odd question. A second ago an anon said he did not like crossovers. I did some research just now and saw that a large majority of people say crossovers feel forced or somehow fake. This surprises me as crossovers are my favorite part of
I LOVE writing crossovers, but I have a set of very specific goals when I do one.
First, it HAS to make sense as a story on its own. I do not want loyal readers not getting a great issue just because of a crossover.
Second, I want to take advantage of what the mega story offers. I like the tapestry of the DC and Marvel universes and crossovers allow you to play with that.
The Secret Six came from a crossover. The Court of Owls was a crossover. Crossovers are great fun, when done right.
But when it’s just marketing, you have to work EXTRA hard to make sure they are worth reading.

there-was-a-girl said: My big problem with comixology is they don’t let me read them on my Nook. They are keeping out a whole market of people who aren’t rolling around in Apple products. I can only read them on my phone (which is not ideal)
I agree, that would be a problem, except I put comixology on my Kindle Fire, no problem, and the new Nook I just bought a couple weeks ago, you can add the comixology app right through the app store (google play) for free, it works great. Don’t know if they are adding it to previous models, but they clearly are addressing it. I have been reading comixology books on my nook hd and they look as good or better than on my ipad.
Hey everyone, look over there! It's a subject change!
Heh. I think I am done with the topic.
People are going to torrent if they want, I am not going to judge them.
:)
Can I ask to what degree advertisements factor into DC's profit margins vs. the book's sales alone? I know that ads at DC are rather expensive, with an estimated base readership rate of about 2200000, hence the cancellation point for sales. Considering tha
Wooh, boy.
No offense, Dagger, but this kind of stuff is why so many experts on the internet are so far off.
First, I just grabbed the closest book to me, the MOVEMENT #1. Do you know how many non-house and non-dc-related-media it had for ads? Four. It had four.
Everything else was either a house ad or a DC-related product.
People forget that the retailer takes half of the purchase price of every comic. And the distributor takes another huge chunk. And the creative team has to be paid.
The way you phrase this, it sounds like four pages at 66k, good deal, right?
I don’t know what the DC rates are for ads, I will take your word on it.
But that is for the entire DC line. It’s not per page, per book.
Most comics work on a slim profit margin. The hope is to make it up with trades, digital, and overseas sales, most of which do not feature ads at all.
They are not a huge factor.
There arent any local options that I know of, you could of course use US options but: you would need a credit card. Banks here tend to hold credit cards, you are not given them like crazy each time you open an account, and after you have them you must do a
I think if you TRULY have no other options, most people would make allowances. But I would hope that when you can, you support the comics you read in some way. Buy a book when you can, maybe.
