I've seen you discuss your original New 52 PWD characters, Strix and Vengeance Moth, just curious if there's a reason you don't include Ricky? Did he exist before somewhere?

No, he didn’t…but absolutely, Ricky is PwD and has a much bigger role coming up in the next issues.

Because we were talking about Oracle, and her loss as a hero with disabilities, I was listing other characters I had created in the hero role. But thinking about it, yep, Ricky should be included.

Good point!

Is it wrong that I still love this costume for some reason?

A while ago on twitter you had mentioned one character you wanted to write for if you ever had the chance was Jubilee. I'm a big fan of both your work and her character and I was curious that if it were up to you, what kind of story would you want to write

I just like Jubilee. I fell in love with her during the Marvel Vs. DC mini series. I thought she was charming.

My thought would be to put her somewhere where she wasn’t comfortable at all, maybe in a murder mystery in the Appalachian mountains or something of that nature…

Thanks for such a long & thoughtful reply! Totally made my morning. Glad you're sensitive to the issues (incl 'crip' as insider-reclaimed language); excited to see what new things you create (though my LCS has been sold clean out of The Movement, have to f

Thank you, Toby, that means a great deal.

For people coming in late, Toby is a PWD and had some very nice things to say about how Barbara’s recovery has been treated in Batgirl.

But we both agree that the loss of Oracle leaves a bit hole in the DCU, both as a character development and as representation for people with disabilities.

I agree with what you say here, Toby. I am very happy with the two PWD I have created since the new52, Strix and Vengeance Moth, and Paul had a lovely character in Demon Knights, but the representation is still clearly way too small.

Hopefully this time next year, the conversation will be very different!

I don't want to hark on the torrent thing, but I have noticed that the word piracy has not come up in this conversation. For those of us who don't know ( I am almost embarrassed to say I am in that category) is torrenting different than pirating in some wa

I honestly don’t know if there is some subtle shading between the two things. Shows how much thought I have put into this recently! :)

Ask the readers…is torrenting different from piracy?

If the cast of The Movement was in a B-horror movie, who would be killed off first?

THE TWO THAT WERE ENJOYING SEXUAL CONGRESS BY THE OLD CABIN ON THE LAKE!

Remember that time that I met Gail Simone, an absolute hero of mine, and I made an absolute git out of myself?

I may or may not have mentioned that I had to stop buying her books.

yup.

I am good at this whole “meet your idols” thing

Wait. What?

First, I am sure you did not make a git out of yourself at all. Can you give me a reminder of when and where this happened? But please, I make a git of myself about eight times a day. It’s rather liberating. Please don’t give it a second thought.

Why did you have to stop getting my books? :(
