Misfit’s Vlog: Episode One — Misfit Vs. Slenderman has gotten almost 100 views in a week! I’m pretty proud of this accomplishment!!
This is the cutest vlog ever. I swear, I think she actually IS Misfit and she bounced over from the DCU!
So adorable!
Make Good Trans* Art
Hi Gail, I linked you to a post of mine on twitter but felt it may be worth a prod on here too. Erin, of Venus Envy has been a huge inspiration to my own transition since I first read her work back when I was younger and I’d love to help push this idea to encourage creative and artistic responses to the Penny Arcade stuff that’s been going across twitter and other places on the internet.
I hope you also see this as something that is worth encouraging and I would love it if you would share it with your amazing fanbase and your large number of Trans* followers. I totally understand if you don’t though. This situation has already blown up in some people’s faces. >_<
Your work is inspiring and I hope it sets a precedent for others in various industries to include more Trans* characters that really are proper characters while also helping to educate others about trans* people.
DUDEBRO HATE!! GODDAMN MY PENIS MAKES ME ANGRY!!! ARGHL BLARGHL FLARGHL!!!
This can’t be real because you spelled, ‘Blarghl’ correctly.
Comic Book Review: The Movement #2
![]()
I acquired The Movement #2 as soon as I could get my geeky hands on it. I was incredibly excited about the new installation in this series by Gail Simone, and I could not be happier about the direction it is going. Not only do we get more information on some of the characters, but new ones are also introduced and we get to see more conflict. (x)
This is a very lovely and entertaining review!
I'm curious Gail, what's your favorite Pixar film?
Tough one. I am a big fan of A Bug’s Life, which doesn’t get talked about much anymore. I loved UP.
I like almost all of them, but Cars didn’t do much for me and Cars 2 felt like being punched in the face by a big smelly beer cozy.

My favorite cosplay- Bab’s Batgirl
Sigh.
I don't know if it's too early to ask, but have you been invited to New York Comic Con for this year? I'm really hoping you'll be there.
They did very kindly invite me just last week, in fact. It’s one of my favorite cons.
Sadly, I can’t attend this year due to a conflicting event I have already agreed to.

Oh Gail Simone, you sarcastic smart...
I have a broader question relating to comic conventions. In an earlier post you said you were not invited to a certain con. How do writers/artists end up being at a con? And any news if you will be in Arizona soon? And do DC reps ever come to cons?
The way creator attendance works is, usually there are five ways a creator shows up at a con.
1) They attend with a paid ticket, like everyone else.
2) They buy a table in artist’s alley, which they pay for themselves, usually in the hope of selling books or art to make up the expense.
3) They attend as the guest of a publisher or store, usually they will do signings at those booths in exchange for their expenses.
4) They are local artists and help fill the con’s guest list.
or
5) The con invites them.
If the con invites a guest, they usually pay expenses including travel and hotel, sometimes there is a per diem or appearance fee, sometimes not.
Artists can make a lot of money at cons, selling prints and sketches, sometimes. Not always, but sometimes.
Writers, it’s harder. It’s expensive to haul books around to sell, and it’s a hassle. Some writers have products they sell.
It sounds mercenary, but attending cons can be expensive even if the con pays the basic expenses. When I go to a con, I am paying for my dogs to be kenneled, my luggage on the plane, my gas to get to the airport, my parking over the course of the con, supplies, food, and lots of other expenses. It’s one of my biggest yearly expenses all told, but I do it because I love meeting readers and I like being an ambassador for comics.
Some cons help with those expenses and some don.t
I am not coming to Arizona any time immediately, I don’t think, sorry!
And DC editors and staffers go to cons all the time!
Hope this helps.
