I think Nightwing's question is perfectly valid.

Hi Gail! I've read your Brutal Tips for Breaking into Comics a few times over, and I think it's all wonderful advice for ANY creative industry, not just comics. That said, I was wondering if you had any suggestions or details regarding an internship at DC.
Hmmm. I wish I knew, I'm really not sure about this at all. I don't think I've heard of interns at DC, but I could be wrong. I know Marvel has them as is relying on them a bit more extensively lately.
I honestly don't know, I'm sorry! It's probably best to contact someone who works at the New York offices.

It's...

It's interesting, but I got quite a few responses from people who said they couldn't enjoy Jeannette because of what she says here, "I don't care about your brat."
Almost all from guys, if I remember correctly. Not sure what that means, but I found it memorable.
I'm a guy, and I like this page. It makes it clear she isn't just a villain in name. She hurts people, she kills people, and she does so for reasons that seem silly to anyone with a conscience. She's killed a lot of people, most of them have had families, and she has no reason to care. It's a nice way of establishing that she's not a nice person. Something that sadly became more of an informed ability as the series progressed. :(

I think that you hit on what bothered people, that she would kill someones mother without even thinking about it. It's not that they thought she was bad for threatening Cheshire, but because she would be cheerfully making an orphan.
But to me, it's just Jeannette.
And I think a lot of people react poorly because it's a female character that doesn't care about the kids. That even though she's a villain, there's something that should state that she's 'a woman (which for some necessitates maternal)'. That somehow even if she's evil, a maternal instinct should stop her.
Which, obviously, is BS, lol.
I bet quite a bit of money that if it was a male character, the issue wouldn't have been broached at all.
Yeah, bingo, I would say that's also absolutely spot on. Even Cheshire shows maternal instincts.
It's odd, I know a lot of mothers who AREN'T supervillains who would throw their kids to the side for many reasons—a new job, a new man, whatever. Jeannette has an extended view of mortality anyway, to me, this is perfectly in character.

I don't even know why it's Cass and Peter. I just want them to be together in something now.
So cute.

*swoons* Ooh, Miss Jeannette, ooh. Take me now and I promise I will be on my best behavior. Or at least have good manners. It will probably involve bondage.

BUT DID YOU MEET THE RULE 63 Power Girl. Because that dude was pretty spectacular!
No, I saw him, but didn't get to speak to him. The genderbend JLA was one of the coolest things I've ever seen at any convention. It was a thousand times cooler than all the movie booths combined.
Hi there, Gail! Just wondering if you had a chance to meet up with any character you created, which would it be? Why? What do you think he, or she, would have at the restaurant and say to you? ^_^
Hmm. I think it might be Zinda, I would love to hear about that era of WWII from a pilot for whom it just occurred a few months ago. But also, she could teach me how to drink a beer (I've never tasted beer, I don't drink alcohol).
Favorite GB's you saw at your most recent con? Btw, Gail, those Sixers cosplayers along with Lady B and Black Alice look FANTASTIC. Kudos to all of you! Another question: I'm thinking of GB a male DC character-could be either a hero or villain, but, I don'
One of my favorite recent genderbend cosplayers recently was a Huntress, from the famous big gb group at San Diego. What made it especially impressive is that I saw him from behind, and said, wow, that's a great Huntress! Then he turned around and had a full beard. That was freaking awesome. And he STILL made a great Huntress!
Hi Gail--first off, I LOVED the flirting between Babs and Dick in Batgirl this week! But, I miss Alysia something fierce... when will we see her next and can you share any more tidbits about her to tide Alysia fans like me over? :)
Ha! That's cool, Alysia comes back next issue, if I remember right, and there's kind of a surprise guest, as well. We get more of Alysia's story in the coming year. Thanks for asking!
