Overcommitted Is A Word

Yesterday was weird. I got home, and the next thing I knew it was time to go back to work. I did literallynothingyesterday. No writing. No creating. No editing. No painting. No eating.

I don’t think I’m sick. But I did miss my word count goal as a result, which has set me back about two days. I can make it up this weekend, but it’s problematic, since I’m going to miss about a week’s worth of writing when I go to Mysticon. Yes, I’m grumbling. Grr.

Picked up some small book display easels today o...

Mysticon 2013 Schedule

So I received my print copy ofWhat Scares the Boogeyman?in the mail just now. It looks nice, if a bit on the thin side. But since it’s only 200+ pages or so, that is to be expected. You can order it now at Amazon and–

–holy crap my computer just scared me! It started my Pandora station without me telling it to. It’s like it knew I should be writing…

Okay, anyways, you can order the book up at Amazon. If you’re going to be at Mysticon and want me to sign anything, you really might want to order...

Sunday Blatherings

Taking a breather from this writing marathon that’s hit me today. It feels good, but it also dredges up some bad moments of “Whoops… did I mean that?” when reviewing scenes I’d already finished off. A lot of the problem is that it’s difficult for me to keep the voices of Gabriel and Andrew (oh, I’m working on Wraithkin, for those of you who are curious… short stories are done later in the week)separate but similar, since they’re brothers and all that. I also have begun the “linking process” —...

An Update of Sorts

An update, of sorts.

Amazon has gone ahead and put M.C.A. Hogarth’sSpots the Space Marineback up in their ebook section. Judging from what I’ve heard, this is a pretty good book that others should pick up to help support the author. Plus, she donates a percentage of book sales to the Wounded Warrior project, which is pretty cool in itself. I’m broke, which is why I haven’t bought a copy yet. However, as soon as I have funds, I’ll be buying it and eventually reviewing it over at SBR.

However, I...

At A Severe Cost

intellectual property

noun:Law.propertythatresultsfromoriginalcreativethought,aspatents,copyrightmaterial,andtrademarks.

For those of you who haven’t heard, M.C.A. Hogarth has run afoul of the behemoth gaming giant Games Workshop over her use of the term “Space Marine” for her novel,Spots the Space Marine. Games Workshop has demanded that Amazon pull down the ebook copy of Hogarth’s book due to their claim of intellectual property rights violation. Amazon, following their odd pattern of listeni...

Should I Title This?

I didn’t care who won last night. Not because I don’t like football (Ilove football) but because I didn’t like either team that played, I’m not a fan of the halftime entertainer, and I’m not going to watch something for commercials. It’s morally wrong to watch prime time TV for the commercials.

Have you bought your Kindle version ofWhat Scares the Boogeyman?yet? Seriously, I need to buy socks. Are you going to deprive me of socks just because you don’t want to buy an ebook I’m in? Horrible peo...

What Scares the Boogeyman? cover: ©2013 Janet Morris

What Scares the Boogeyman?was released on Amazon Kindle today. Print copy will be up soon, undoubtedly. You should go buy it. It has a lot of great writers in it like CJ Henderson, Nancy Asire, David Conyers, Rich Groller, Janet and Chris Morris, and it was edited by John Manning.

I didn’t write a review today. I’ll put it up tomorrow. It’s probably going to be book 2 of the Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher, since my review pile is starting...

A Curiously Random Theme

I hate writing tropes and yet, every single bestseller has a common theme to it. I buy them even when I know they almost always have the same commonality. I bet you can guess what it is if you really put your mind to it.

My family likes to procreate. I mean, really likes it. I have a lot of brothers and sisters (half and foster, no full), and those brothers and sisters have quite a few kids themselves. I counted 13 brothers and sisters just now, and that’s not counting the however many sperm d...

Goal Attained — Avatar Unlocked

Made the word count goal today, which means I get to paint tomorrow. Whee!

However, my editor is getting annoyed with my teasing snippets of the current WIP and is forcing me (in other words, asking very nicely with no threats of bodily harm, because that’s not how he rolls; I swear) for me to finish it. SoThe Tree of Death and Lifewill be finished by the end of next week. Alpha Reader will get it and, depending on approval level, it’ll be off to the editor before I head out to Mysticon. While...

Larry Correia Interviewed On Huckabee

In case you missed it, NYT bestselling author Larry Correia was interviewed on Huckabee Live last night (Sunday) in response to this piece he wrote awhile back. He did an excellent job, I think. You should read the article, and definitely watch the interview. The article alone is worth it, though you may want to set aside a good chunk of time. It’s lengthy and filled with facts.

I met my writing goal for the day, though I missed yesterday’s. Hopefully I can make it up this week. Also, book rev...
