Facebook Over

So yesterday, I saw that once more has Facebook taken our privacy settings and screwed them over, leaving all the personal information out there for any intrepid individual (or company) to find. Although I willingly signed up for Facebook, I was smart and didn’t post too much personal information in there. I tried to use it merely as a promotional tool but as the years have gone on, I’ve watched as it prohibited use because I wouldn’t put in my birthday, or I was too restrictive on my setting...

Vote Today

I hope you exercised your right to vote today.

I’m going “offline” this Thursday for five days, lasting until Tuesday-ish. I’ll be around, but the blog will suffer, since I’m going to be “offline”. Yes, I quoted that on purpose. I’ll be looking in but not participating. Though to be fair, that’s about all I do these days anyway. I just don’t seem to have anytime…

I’m still laughing at some of the dialogue inRevolutions, but I have to admit that it’s getting a little better. We have a new villai...

We've Come To The End Of Cake

Reblogged from According To Hoyt:

Today I’m going to come as close to political as I ever do in this blog. You’ve been warned. If it’s going to annoy you, you may leave now.

This election has swirled around a lot of crazy things, starting with “War on women” a concept that might as well have been invented by a Martian with no understanding of human psychology or anatomy.

I really love Sarah Hoyt. Listen to how she breaks down why we can't have our cake and eat it, to...

Are You Writing?

Wow, what a crazy week.

Shot multiple scenes forActs of Godout in Louisville. Got to watch them blow stuff up (which was freaking cool), got into a firefight with Taliban (or the Hollywoodequivalent… I think they’re called “fellow extras”), got a speaking part in the movie (which may or may not be cut, I’ll find out later) and saw thatSha’Daa Pawnshas been released for print and ebook. Then I was sick (whichsucked) and then had an allergic reaction to something, which made my forehead and chee...

November Begins

Okay, so I’m prepared to hear about NaNoWriMo for the next 30 days from all writers, established pros and aspiring ones alike. I literally have created a folder in my inbox to hear about how well people are doing, purely for selfish reasons (I like the idea of shooting someone an email on the 16th reminding them that they’ve only written 3K words since the 9th… it amuses me). I’m also prepared for people the castigate me because I don’t participate anymore. The last year I participated (2007)...

Nerd King

I want to buy a house.

Wait, hear me out. I have sound reasoning for this desire.

I’ve been surfing around the web researching a story and came across an unfinished basement and the pictures that the guy took. He then showed the step-by-step process of turning his unfinished basement into the ultimate nerd man cave, withaislesof books, a video game corner, multiple display cases with gaming miniatures and a monster speaker hook up. Yes, he’s married with four kids, so no comments about him havi...

Writer Wednesday - Jason Cordova

Reblogged from Book In The Bag:

For the first time ever, and probably the only time ever, I was in the room when this interview took place, but still using current media to be as detached as possible from this process – I emailed him the questions, he emailed me the answers. Still, watching him answer was sometimes better than the answers themselves. What you guys don’t know about Jason is that he’s got a wicked sense of humor, and being around him is like being around somebody you’ve been fr...

Happy Birthday SBR

It took me two very long years, but I finally got the domain name for Shiny Book Review. It’s now at www.shinybookreview.com and it make me happy.

Yeah, it’s a little long. I don’t care. It’s mine, all mine! Muwahahahaa!

Okay, so I’m alittleexcited about it. We’ve been online since 2010 and while that’s not a long time, in the intrawebz time that’s about half a lifetime. For us to not have a “name brand” until now is… well, embarrassing.

So, Happy Birthday SBR! And may you make children happy and...
