-5

I’m still recovering from this crazy weekend (why are my weekends insane and weekdays dull and boring?), but a brief rundown has it at this:

Days: 2

Hours worked: 42

Words written between real job and acting job: 3,000

Years off life: -5

I’m really looking forward to a day off soon.

Reading + Writer = Slacker!

I love it when a bunch of books I can’t wait to read are all released at the same time. You can literally see my writing come screeching to a halt.

In two days I’ve purchased and finished Jim Butcher’s Cold Days, his latest in the Dresden Files, and Kevin Hearne’s fifth book of his Iron Druid series,Trapped. The best part about the two is that their voices (and bizarre, tongue in cheek humor) are similar to one another. I need to buy Hearne’s books in print eventually (I own them all in ebooks)...

No Review This Week

I was going to review Stephen Zimmer’sThe Exodus Gatetoday over at SBR until I realized that I didn’t easily remember some of the details, so it’s back on the “to be reread” pile. The only other book I have that is remotely ready to be reviewed is Jim Butcher’s latest,Cold Days, which I wanted to wait until Sunday to put up. So…

No book review from me this week. I’m lame.

15* Rules to Surviving the Abrams Dystopia

Before I start this, let me first say that I am ahugeJ. J. Abrams fan. I loved what he did with Star Trek, and Lost wasn’t too bad (except for the ending). Super 8 was very entertaining and I really do enjoy most of what he produces.

Butdamn it all to hell, what the hell is going on withRevolutions? The show makes sense at some points, and at other points it leaves me scratching my head and wondering who comes up with these scenarios. I mean, I really have to wonder why some people think that...

Black Friday Mayhem

I’m still recovering from my turkey coma, so bear with me here.

I was on my way to work and saw, well, mayhem is the only way I can describe it. You see, I live near a big mall and Target and Walmart (they’re not close to one another, until you take into account I can cut through a park to get to all three within a minute) and, as you may have seen on the news (or your calendar, if you’re one ofthosepeople) that Friday was that little old thing called “Black Friday”. And people get a little… c...

Happy Turducken Day!

Just reviewed David Weber’sA Beautiful Friendshipover at SBR. One of the best YA books I’ve reads this year, hands down. Go take a look.

Other than that, just working furiously on a short story. And playing Words With Friends. And blogging. And playing chess. Yep, I’m lame like that.

Have a great Turducken Day.

The Same Old Song

My so-called “writer’s block” lasted all of two days. That’s rather pathetic, really. Wouldn’t that make it more of an “easily climbable obstacle” than a block?

It didn’t take long to push past whatever was bothering me and get me back into the groove. I’m thankful that whatever it was is gone. Of course, the price is working on something I haven’t given much though to for over six years, but hey…

I came up with a cyberpunk title for a friend, then laughed afterwards because I remembered that T...

Random Ramblings

I was all set to review David Weber’sA Beautiful Friendshipover at SBR today until my brain wentffff-phat!(seriously, make that sound. That’s what my brain did). The grey matter hit the proverbial brick wall and the results… aren’t pretty.

On the plus side, I am doing a tiny bit of editing. You see, you don’t necessarily need any brain matter to edit, but the ability to say “Everything sucks!” before tearing into it. It makes the process so much easier.

NaNoWriMo-ers, how goes it? I keep hearin...

Good News

Good news on the war front: sold another short story this week.

Wake, a dark, creepy horror story with a bit of a humorous bent, is going to see print sometime in 2013. I’m still waiting on official word, but I have a hard “yes” from them, which is nice to have.

This is good stuff, since it raises my stories sold count to five this year (and I’m waiting to hear back on two more).

Back to your regularly scheduled broadcast.
