APOLOGISE TO TUN MAHATHIR AND ENGAGE ANWAR IN DEBATE

If comments on a posting entitled ”Khairy Can Become Prime Minister in his Old Age” in Malay and English are anything to go by, the majority still want Khairy to be given the opportunity to climb the political ladder in UMNO.

They are aware of that Khairy had gone overboard before, but could accept him back on condition that: he must learn from past mistakes, must not be rashly impetuous, must not take another wife, must not get involved in scandals, must not be arrogant and egoistic, must not be greedy, and must always look back into the past, including the downfall of his father-in-law, Abdullah Badawi.
Anwar’s political destiny crumbled at the corridors of power while Abdullah Badawi fell at the peak of political power.
There were strong comments from those who still refused to accept Khairy (please count them). They said that the damage and calamity wreaked by Khairy to the stability of the country, the Malays and UMNO called for a revolution to return UMNO to its glorious past. It is difficult for UMNO to forgive him.
On the whole, visitors to this blog, who are still very angry at Khairy, are still polite and rational in their postings. They are an educated lot.
Those who advocate for an opportunity to be given to Khairy realised the mistakes made by him, but rationalised it by naming many previous leaders who had done wrong. Only those who dare to take risks will create great history.
As UMNO Youth chief, Khairy is seen to be passive and cautious in the face of political challenges that hinge on religion and Malay nationalism. For example, in the controversial raid conducted on a church trying to convert Muslims, he quickly blamed the authority which took the action.
Many roles that should have been championed by the UMNO Youth had been fought by NGOs. But Khairy quickly rose to the occasion when he dazzled the public, especially the new generation with his oratorical skills against Ambiga and Rafizi Ramli, PKR strategic director. Without doubt he is at the forefront.
The debate with Rafizi in London has also improved UMNO’s image among students and youths and even garner widespread influence among students in the United States. Khairy, who is seen to have committed sins against UMNO, suddenly emerged at the forefront to fill the new generation’s aspirations in UMNO.
However, Khairy must be brave enough to step further forward to clear his name in the party. He should publicly apologise to Tun Dr Mahathir and challenge Anwar Ibrahim to a debate on current issues.
I believe Khairy Anwar has the edge over Anwar, especially  in economic intricacies. In the words of Tun Daim, when come to economic matters, Anwar could only memorise the facts and figures.
Khairy's impending victory in the debate will certainly help plough back the support of UMNO members to the party as asserted by Tun Dr Mahathir, "There is no permanent friend and there is no eternal enemy in politics.”
Perhaps Sinar Harian, which has unearthed Khairi’s debating prowess, could organise this premier debate in order to prove remarks made by a visitor to this blog that, "If he is cast aside, it will be a loss to the party."

Kata Azmi Anshar Training Editor NST Azmi Anshar:  Its endangered status still a big worry, the magnificencce of the giant panda- an adult reaches 1.8m long, 1.2m tall amd 160kg in weight-has been elevated to that of an influential beast capable of stoking earth shattering symbolic, nationalistic, political, diplomatic and conservation passions- NST 13 Jun

KHAIRY CAN BECOME PM IN HIS OLD DAYS

UMNO Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin and several of his friends cannot wash their hands over their political gambit that had contributed to political instability in the party and also the collapse of the foundation of national unity built by Second Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, and strengthened and elevated by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
In some cases, this interplay of politics continued until after the 2008 Tsunami which culminated in efforts to bring back Anwar into UMNO to the extent of taking an international passport to him to seek medical treatment for neck injuries abroad. But Khairy apparently misjudged the attitude of UMNO stalwarts.
In the run-up to the 2008 general election, TV3 and the NST became tools to divide UMNO and the bedrock of nationhood through negative reports against those who were not favoured by the young Turk, and the saddest part was Kedah menteri besar then Datuk Seri Syed Razak Syed Zain was humiliated and belittled at the time when he was sick, oblivious to his deeds in restoring the Kedah BN.
Sensitive news that hurt the Malays and Muslims were published by the NST then.
Many weaknesses occurred in the 2008 general election. The BN manifesto was announced, but it was never distributed. At first, the printing job was given to Utusan Melayu Malaysia Berhad, but it was eventually snatched by the NST. The manifesto was nowhere to be seen. Where printing money had gone to is still not known until today.
The ecstatic shouts of the 2004 general election stunning victory died down with a whimper that led to the lost of dignity in 2008 due to the arrogance and egotism of several young Turks who wielded insurmountable power. When I made a statement to Utusan Malaysia and The Star that the 2008 Tsunami buried the ambitions of young Turks in UMNO from seizing power, one of the fourth floor occupants rebuked Utusan.
Far too many mistakes were made by Khairy and his friends to be told again, but this is not the time. It is time to focus on restoring unity, and as espoused by Tun Dr. Mahathir, even though he does not like certain candidates, if they are the party’s choice, he will vote for them.
So too with Khairy, even though his “big sins” led to the collapse of the foundation of national unity due to his idealism and hunger for political power, he should be given the opportunity to make amends, and he is doing it right now.
This opportunity given by UMNO President Datuk Seri Najib, who understands the interplay of power and has no desire for revenge, even if efforts to prevent Khairi’s ascension are made at the 11th hour.
Khairy clawed back into prominence due to his persistence. His political talent and charisma are evident. His ability as a competent speaker and debater in Parliament and in public are conspicuous, His articulation, in-depth knowledge of issues, intellectual ability and other qualities are indeed needed in a leader.
Khairy is an asset to the country's future leadership.
While Anwar has made political miscalculations as he assailed almost the peak of power, Khairy made missteps as he scaled the political ladder at the outset of his political career. Khairy was given the opportunity to return to the correct path. He should be wise to enable him to become the prime minister in his old days.

TINDAKAN SAMAN RM10 JUTA BATALKAN FATWA

WWW1: PEMUDA PAS SALAHKAN KOSMO

- Harakah Daily

MUSA TERSELAMAT

Sime woos back investorsBy Presenna Nambiar

Sime Darby Bhd’s uptrending share price proves that investors’ confidence has returned to the once scandalised conglomerate, chairman Tun Musa Hitam said.
Sime Darby’s share price closed at RM9.69 last Friday. In a year, the stock has appreciated 8.83 per cent.
“It went down to RM5 at one time in the so-called disastrous year (2010). But now they (investors) are voting with confidence,” he told Business Times in an interview here last Thursday.
In 2010, Sime Darby announced it had to make provisions for about RM1 billion due to cost overruns for certain projects in its energy and utilities division.
The announcement resulted in the departure of the-then chief executive officer Datuk Seri Ahmad Zubir Murshid. A few civil suits have been filed since in a move to recover its losses.
Musa said the conglomerate is now thriving, mainly because of palm oil and also its industrial and motor divisions.
On whether operations in the conglomerate had gone back to normal since, he said his cynicism prevented him from saying that anything is absolutely right.
Musa said there are always little bubbles bursting here, there and everywhere. The trick is to prevent huge bubbles from bursting.
“Yeah, when you look back the bubble was quite big but not huge enough ... it was manageable.
“I’m very proud after all the naysayings about us ... now, we are back. Look at our strength now. We learn from our mistakes and this is very positive,” he said.
Sime Darby made a net profit of RM876 million for the financial period ended March 31 2012 against RM11 billion revenue for the quarter.
The conglomerate registered RM3 billion in net profit for the first nine months of its financial year ending June 30 2012

Catitan: After going through negative impact from cost overruns for certain projects two years ago, it is heartening to note that Sime Darby has pulled itself out of the doldrums and returned to profitability.
Despite making provisions for about RM1 billion due to cost overruns, this does not absolve Musa Hitam and Sime Darby Board of Directors (BOD) from being accountable for the irrecoverable losses incurred for certain local and overseas projects which accumulated to RM1.3 billion.
The chairman and BODs must own up to their failings for the heavy losses incurred and not merely giving an excuse that they were then misled by the management. There had been calls to Musa Hitam to resign then.
